Forum:Uria Deck, Need Serious Help

You know, some monsters in this game are amazing. As for why they're amazing, the awnser could be anything. The one sure thing though, is that amazing monsters are usually a nightmare to try and beat. Going on this, I decided to make a deck centered around one such monster, Uria, Lord of Searing Flames.

Can't be too hard to make a good Uria Deck right? Wrong! After several duels, I realized that the fusion monsters I put in to defend my field until I summon Uria hardly ever hit the field. Also, it's hard to choose which continuous traps to use (Spirit Barrier doesn't make sense in this deck anymore) and with no means of destroying my own traps, one 3000 or higher defense monster is all it takes to drag out a duel fifteen turns (this actually happened once)! I guess what I'm trying to say is, please help me remake this deck. Any help at all will be much appreciated. 96.42.125.171 19:56, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Use trap monsters. Traps and monsters; what's not to like? I'd suggest 3 Metal Reflect Slime and perhaps a Zoma the Spirit or two. Runer5h 20:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Actually, I have a few more tips;
  • If I were you, I'd drop the fusions. They're probably taking up too much space.
  • Put in a Gravity Bind, Light-Imprisoning Mirror, and Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror. They'll slow your opponent while doing nothing to you.
  • Try Magic Planter for draw power.
That is all. Runer5h 20:10, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Let me explain

I ran this deck at a tourny for the last few weeks and it seems to work really well. Stopped Lightsworn and Blackwings in a short time. Thrashed Glads very quickly. You see, Uria wont have to be the only kill monster in the deck. The skill drain set up works wonders.

Colossal is great while skill drain is in play because its effect works in the grave, same with tomato. exiled's effect is a cost the moment it hits the field so it gets around SD. Oppression cant stop tomato and spy. spy only if its attacked bc its effect is working in the damage step.

have SD, RO, and IC in play and hold off you opponent for a few turns. summon uria and use priority on his effect, they wont be able to use Bottomless or torrential. Then play decree and the game ends there. i hope this helps--Duelest 101 21:02, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice and deck suggestions. They're very helpful, and I managed to make a deck that should work better.

I decided it help to use something i know, and I know Dragons! I decided to add the horus series monsters and limit spell card use. Overall, it's now a beatdown deck that also destroys spell and trap cards (sort of like a dragon version of an Ancient Gear Deck). I'm expecting to get Uria out fast with the large number of trap cards. Tell me what you think, and thanks again! 96.42.125.171 22:21, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

As long as you're using dragons, you might as well replace the three Shocktroopers with three Luster Dragons. Runer5h 22:28, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

ok for this deck you will need to run things like heavy storm mystical space typoon twister and kuraz might also be a good idea since it wil let ya draw when ya destory your traps and if you use alot of earth type in this deck giganties is great since its a special summon and if its destoryed you can use it like a heavy anything that will remove traps from your side of the field and put em in the grave yard as far as protecing yourself while you wait to pull uria i would use a perfect circle style build things like mophing jar treeborn gravekeeper spy just to get a constant supply of monsters on the field or try a maurading capt lock down a cat of ill omen will be your best friend it lets you pull trap cards to the top of your deck and as far as continus traps go cloak n dagger is always a good choice either of the imprisoning mirrors would be good non fusion area would hurt gbs and any ehero decks still running around cards like shadow spell and skull lair spirit barrier and xing zhen that should give ya alot to look at while making this deck the best you can good luck with it 76.11.148.109 12:10, 11 June 2009 (UTC) millingfreak
