Forum:Why is Last Will banned?

Honestly, the card doesn't change games a whole lot, but it is very useful still. I think banning it is a little bit over the top, why isn't it just limited? — This unsigned comment was made by 98.208.26.254 (talkcontribs) 03:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Last Will is rightfully Forbidden. The ability to Special Summon any monster with 1500 or less ATK from the deck if a monster you controlled was removed from the filed is just ridiculously powerful. Just imagine what a card like that would do in today's metagame. As if all the best decks around can't special summon enough monsters and don't thin their decks enough, we should give them another card to do it? No, Last Will will return the same day Painful Choice does. --Darth Covah 13:34, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to agree with dark there it is op (situation:I play last will on sangan I tribute sangan thin my deck by 2 cards and get cias.)

point made --Marshall565 09:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

I dont have any monsters with less than 1600 atk in my deck, lol. Beatdown Decks for the win >.>Shoukatsuryou 08:34, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Well with all the tuners, and more powerful low-attack creatures, Last Will is amazing at getting certain cards. An Exodia the Forbidden One deck would benefit highly from this card. Creating a OTK with Synchro monsters can also happen very easily with Last Will.--Overlordzorc 06:51, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I believe it should be limited, mainly because I have one laying around, but it is good, powerful no doubt, but think of anti-meta, and negation stuff, rendering the card useless and anyway its a normal spell only activate in your turn while your opponent may well already have a counter for any plan you got in mind.

Basically to some up Last Will limited!

What if the opponent doesn't have a counter? Cue shitstorm when the Infernity player pulls out Infernity Mirage using Last Will to wreak more havoc. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:18, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

It should stay banned

Just imagine all the annoying synchro summoning if it wasn't. Cloak007 01:38, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Why shouldn't last will be banned? Imagine this. You play cold wave and set a gravekeeper spy facedown and end turn. Opponent runs into spy making u special summon another spy. On your turn you summon rescue cat and bring out 2 air bellums and synchro both for dark strike fighter and arcanite magician. play last will and bring out a rescue cat and that should be game if u will tribute rescue cat that was brought out by last will for 2 lvl 3 beast types. You nuke your opponents monster with arcanites effect and attack directly with the dark strike fighter for 26 than with arcanite for 14 and lastly with your 2 monsters brought out by rescue cat for 32(assuming u bring out 2 air bellums). Thats 26+14+32=72. Than you launch everything for game.

  • You mean, 1 Airbellum and one other Beast with 1600+ ATK. You can't have 4 Airbellums in the deck, no matter how much Rescue Cat Synchro Players would like that. --Darth Covah (Talk | Contribs) 12:09, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

so, to get past the wall of words and put it simply.....you just shouldnt ask, its to horrible to imagine, trust us

As far as i know one of the main uses of last will was to make an exodia deck faster, without it some certain decks may take a hit exodia and burn decks especialy--Kazisaki 11:42, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Mystic Tomato

Doesnt for example Mystic Tomato do the same in dark decks?

Objection! Mystic Tomato needs to be destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard. This often means you need to wait for your opponent to kill it himself, or suicide it yourself and risk taking damage. Last Will triggers when a monster is sent to the Graveyard through any means, be it Tribute Summoning or for effect costs. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:16, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
I think that user mean for Mystic Tomato's effect is part similar to Last Will, as they can "place" 1500 ATK or lower monster on the field, reckless the situation. It's like you swap the pumpkin to your opponent and kill it, you get free 1500-ATK monster while damaging your opponent. --FredCat Ta.P.F.P.J.R.W.S.Th.P.S.C. 02:20, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Imagine if someone ran a synchro deck with last will with ultimate offering double summon and (if its a warrior deck) reinforcement of the army and freed the matchless general? they can get all their warrior type tuners and low level monsters out easy and since they leave the field.. BAM LAST WILL TIME! Activate that and its more tuners or low lvl monsters not to mention junk synchron can special summon 2 stars synchro more and use last will more. so pretty much they will have 3-5 sychro monsters out and ftk-otk you hard so yea last will NEEDS to be banned and mysti tomato i think only works for dark type imho.DuelistXr (talkcontribs) 00:35, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

@Overlordzorc; exodia the forbidden one decks would not benifit much from this cards effect because all five peices must be in your hand in order to use its effect of winning the duel. if your target is to use exodia necros or exodius, then maybe. but otherwise id say find another way.96.15.151.122 (talk) 15:11, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
