Judging Criteria[edit]

Judges, the criteria is below.

  • Relativity: (Out of 5 points): This justifies how much the deck is related to the topic and how the entrant approached it. If it was creative and showed the intention of creating a new way, the entrant receives full points.
  • Efficiency: (Out of 5 points): This justifies how the deck achieves a flow of fast and powerful. If the entrant used ways to maximize efficiency, he or she receives full points.
  • Playability: (Out of 5 points): This justifies how much the deck is playable - how it is seen through others' eyes. For example, if this deck was given to a very random player, could they grasp the concept and use it to its full potential? If the entrant used ways to maximize playability, he or she receives full points.
  • Overall Power: (Out of 10 points): This justifies how the deck performs against decks circulating in the TCG. If it shows much potential and what judges judge to be powerful, then the entrant receives full points.

Scoring Area[edit]

Judges please place your scores below. NOTE: I, Chris427, have one condition. I will be judging first for this week.

There are three primary themes in which Bistro Butcher can be used:

  • 1. Letting your opponent draw and take damage for it through the card: Greed.
  • 2. Swapping Bistro Butcher to your opponent so as to allow you to draw when it attacks. (Exodia optional).
  • 3. Using Appropriate to draw whenever your opponent draws. (Exodia optional).

Here are my scores for this week's challenge.

  • Ill Draw by Rein Weiss Ritter
    • R – 3/5: You used the first method of using Greed to damage your opponent. However, the Silent Magicians were not of particular strength to the deck and therefore cannot be judged for creativity.
    • E – 3/5: The deck is a mix of stall and surprise. It flows at a moderate pace, but not the best.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 7/10: Unfortunately you don’t burn damage as fast as you can use your Greeds, therefore you receive an average score. After your Greeds are gone, most decks will trample quickly.
      • Total: 16/25
  • Bistro Butcher Deck by SuperTeddy
    • R – 4/5: You used the third method of using Appropriate to draw quickly. Relatively nice thinning capabilities.
    • E – 3/5: The major weakness about your deck is the lack of defensive systems for Exodia. Your draw power doesn’t make up for your Graveyard or Remove-From-Play power as enough as was expected.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 6/10: Your retrieval systems are weak in infrastructure.
      • Total: 16/25
  • All In, All Out by Darkdust Dragon
    • R – 2/5: Did you put almost every card regarding drawing systems into this deck? You foolishly mixed clashing themes of numbers 1 and 3 from the stated strategies. What was your inspiration in using Dark Armed Dragon? Why is it there when the focus is Bistro Butcher? That does not count towards creativity. Unfortunately we do not accept OCG cards, but this week will be an exception. Even so, wrong card to include here.
    • E – 2/5: Clashing cards.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 5/10: Clashing cards lead to clashing gameplay.
      • Total: 12/25
  • The Deck Butcher by Bio
    • R – 2/5: You followed none of the themes, except half-way on the first. Greed is at 2? You transformed, however, the Bistro Butcher into a sort of beatdown capability along with Royal Oppression and Book of Moon. It’s sort of balanced, but it looks like a warrior deck skeleton with the Bistro Butcher and his food as the skin.
    • E – 3/5: It will hold for a bit due to useful beatdown-deck cards.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 5/10: It will fall apart mid-game.
      • Total: 13/25
  • Seventh Deadly Sin – Greed by Gemini69
    • R – 3/5: You used the first strategy but with the addition of Kuraz and Silent Magicians? As said for Rein Weiss Ritter, they clash.
    • E – 3/5: It will hold because of a relatively balanced spell and trap lineup. Kuraz helps but takes the limelight from Bistro Butcher. Nice addition of Sasuke Samurai 3.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 7/10: Decent spell and trap lineup.
      • Total: 16/25
  • Get Killed by the Butcher by Romanovajax
    • R – 3/5: You used the second method of the strategies. Decent work on the monster lineup and their thinning capabilities, although Thunder Dragon was a better alternative to 3 of them. An ok on the spell and trap lineup.
    • E – 3/5: Would’ve been nice to see even more drawing power and swapping power.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O – 7/10: Defenseless, but an ok on its potential and capability.
      • Total: 16/25
  • D.D.D. – Dark Des Draw by Rayqui
    • R – 3/5: I’m assuming this is a mill deck – in which case, you did an ok job on it. Weak in infrastructure, it is also lacking the focus of the Bistro Butcher.
    • E – 3/5: Ok mill rate.
    • P – 3/5: All decks this week are given this score.
    • O - 7/10: Decent hand disruption to disrupt most decks, but is lacking raw power.
      • Total: 16/25
  • Insert fancy name here [__] by Agent Error
    • Disqualified.

  • Ill Draw by Rein Weiss Ritter
    • R - 3/5: Greed works well with Butcher, but if you're gonna include Silent Magician, you should've supported it more.
    • E - 3/5: Stalling slows down the deck a bit.
    • P - 3/5: One would have to be familiar with Bistro Butcher to use this deck well. (All decks are going to get this)
    • O - 7/10: You rely on Greed a lot, once it's gone...you're doomed.
      • Total: 16/25
  • Bistro Butcher Deck by SuperTeddy
    • R - 4/5: Appropriate and deck thinning make a nice combination.
    • E - 4/5: Some way of getting Exodia back from the grave (just in case) would have been better.
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 7/10: There's no way to get back Exodia if it's ever discarded or RFP.
      • Total: 18/25
  • All In, All Out by Darkdust Dragon
    • R - 3/5: What is DAD doing here? Also, Appropriate would have worked better if you used Exodia.
    • E - 3/5: You have lots of ways to get cards, but what for? At least more burn would have helped.
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 6/5: Cards don't work too well together.
      • Total: 15/25
  • The Deck Butcher by Bio
    • R - 3/5: I liked what I saw...until I noticed only 2 Greed.
    • E - 3/5: Appropriate would have been a good choice here (for Solemn Wishes), as well as maximizing Greed. Though, I get the mill strategy (sort of).
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 6/10: Cards are all over the place, needs more unity.
      • Total: 15/25
  • Seventh Deadly Sin - Greed by Gemini69
    • R - 4/5: Greed is used well here, though the Silent Magicians are out of place here.
    • E - 4/5: Decent S/T cards. Also, nice touch with Sasuke Samurai 3 and Trap Reclamation.
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 7/10: Good, but Silent Magicians kinda messed it up a bit.
      • Total: 18/25
  • Get Killed by the Butcher by Romanovajax
    • R - 4/5: Good use of 2nd strategy.
    • E - 4/5: Good job on deck thinning and sort of good job on S/T lineup.
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 8/10: Needs more defenses and LP recovery wouldn't hurt.
      • Total: 19/25
  • D.D.D. - Dark Des Draw by Rayqui
    • R - 3/5: Good work on hand disruption...but it needs more focus on Bistro Butcher, since that IS what this week was about.
    • E - 3/5: Decent mill deck and S/T lineup.
    • P - 3/5: Same as previous "P" rating.
    • O - 8/10: Good job on mill and hand disruption.
      • Total: 17/25
  • Insert fancy name here [__] by Agent Error
    • Disqualified, due to 3 copies of a Limited card (Card Destruction).

Here are my scores:

  • "Ill Draw" - Rein Weiss Ritter
    • R - 4/5 - Clever use of "The Bistro Butcher's" efect, making your opponent overdraw while damaging him for doing so. However, some cards (cough Silemt Magician cough) were close to irrelevant, hence the 4/5.
    • E - 3/5 - Powerful, yes. Fast, NO.
    • P - 3/5 - This is a common point for all decks judged - the "Overdraw" concept of "The Bistro Butcher" is a tough one to grasp, many could become confused and fail to see the deck's focus.
    • O - 8/10 - Overall good deck, maybe not as fast as it should be, but still competitive and fun.
    • Total: 18/25
  • "Bistro Butcher Deck" - SuperTeddy
    • R - 4/5 - Perfect use of "Appropriate" here makes deck thinning a piece of cake, and Exodia a very real threat.
    • E - 2/5 - Exodia is a Stall deck, and this is no difference. For an Exodia deck, it lacks adequate defence. Its drawing power also relies on hitting the opponent with "The Bistro Butcher" so "Appropriate" can kick in - but attacking is not the strength of an Exodia deck. Oh, and it's also slow.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 7/10 - Nice alternative use of "The Bistro Butcher's" effect. Lack of defence and speed leave this deck wanting though.
    • Total: 16/25
  • "All in. All out." - Darkdust Dragon
    • R - 4/5 - D.A.D. is plain useless here.
    • E - 3/5 - Threatening combination of Discard and Beatdown, this deck is powerful. It isn't however fast, which hurts it. A lot.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 7/10 - D.A.D.= dead draw. Also, this deck, relying more on attacking, is very slow, which gives the opposition time to react.
    • Total: 17/25
  • "The Deck Butcher" - Bio
    • R - 4/5 - Focusing on discard rather than on burn/discard, this deck's potential is undeniable. Good job adding "Gravekeeper's Servant", too. However, the cards lack synergy.
    • E - 3/5 - While powerful, it is slow. And that isn't a good thing.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 8/10 - Lack of speed and synergy between cards could destroy this deck in a competition.
    • Total: 18/25
  • "Seventh Deadly Sin - Greed" - Gemini69
    • R - 2/5 - The addition of "Silent Magicians" along with LV support cards is completely out of theme.
    • E - 3/5 - Relies heavily on attacking, which is easily countered. If not attacking, its offensive power dwindles.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 6/10 - Fails to focus on "The Bistro Butcher's" effect, and so uses it occasionally, with little to no avail.
    • Total: 14/25
  • "Get Killed By the Butcher" - Romanovajax
    • R - 3/5 - Swapping "The Bistro Butcher" to your opponent is a good idea. Oh wait, no its not. Since this is the only use you have for this monster, your opponent can simply not attack with it or tribute it, destroying your plan.
    • E - 2/5 - "Pot of Avarice" in an Exodia Deck? I thought Exodia decks needed to mill, not increase their decks' size! Also, relying on one strategy which is easily countered, this deck fails in both speed and power.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 6/10 - Easy to counter, hard to play. Bad combination.
    • Total: 14/25
  • "D.D.D. - Dark Des Draw" - Rayqui
    • R - 3/5 - The theme has been grasped, but not enough focus given on "The Bistro Butcher".
    • E - 3/5 - Bordering on Overdraw and Discard, this deck needs to decide on one. It has power, but lacks speed.
    • P - 3/5 - Same as above.
    • O - 7/10 - Threatening, but not very competitive.
    • Total: 16/25
  • "Insert fancy name here [___]" - Agent Error

  • "The Deck Butcher" - Bio

      • Total 15/25

  • "Get Killed By the Butcher" - Romanovajax
    • R - 3/5 (Swapping Butcher is not the best strategy but OK)
