Jump Festa 2021: Yami Yugi vs. Seto Kaiba

Jump Festa 2021: Yami Yugi vs. Seto Kaiba was a scripted Duel that took place on the December 19, 2020. Shunsuke Kazama and Kenjiro Tsuda reprised their roles as Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba, respectively.

Featured Duel: Yami Yugi vs. Seto Kaiba

The duel is conducted as a Master Duel.

Turn 1: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi activates "Gateway to Chaos", and activates its 1st effect, adding 1 "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster or 1 "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monster from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Gaia the Fierce Knight Origin". He then activates the 2nd effect of "Gaia the Fierce Knight Origin" in his hand, sending 1 unknown Level 5 or higher monster from his hand to the GY to Special Summon itself from his hand in Attack Position (1600/1200). Yami Yugi then activates the 2nd effect of "Magicians' Souls" in his hand, sending a Level 6 or higher Spellcaster from his Deck to the GY to either Special Summon "Magicians' Souls" from his hand, or send it from his hand to the GY and then he can Special Summon either "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" from his GY. He sends an unknown monster from his Deck to the GY and Special Summons "Magicians' Souls" (0/0) in Defense Position. Yami Yugi Sets 1 card in his Spell & Trap Zone, and then activates the 1st effect of "Magicians' Souls", letting him send up to 2 Spell/Traps from his hand and/or field to the GY to draw that many cards. He sends "Gateway to Chaos" and his Set "Magic Formula" to the GY and draws 2 cards. As it was sent from the field to the GY, Yami Yugi activates the 2nd effect of "Magic Formula", gaining 1000 LP (Yami Yugi: 4000 → 5000 LP). Yami Yugi Sets 1 card in his Spell & Trap Zone and Normal Summons "Kuribandit" (1000/700).

During the End Phase, Yami Yugi activates the effect of "Kuribandit": since it was Normal Summoned this turn, he can Tribute it to excavate the top 5 cards of his Deck and add 1 Spell/Trap amongst them to his hand, then he must send all other excavated cards to the GY. He adds an unknown Spell/Trap card to his hand and sends 4 unknown cards to the GY.

Turn 2: Kaiba
Kaiba Normal Summons "X-Head Cannon" (1800/1500). He then activates "Soul Crossing", allowing him to Tribute Summon 1 Divine-Beast monster using monsters from either player's field. However, if he Tributes at least 1 of his opponent's monsters, then until the end of the next turn after "Soul Crossing" resolves, he can only activate 1 card or effect per turn other than Divine-Beast monsters' effects. He Tributes his "X-Head Cannon" and Yami Yugi's "Magicians' Souls" and "Gaia the Fierce Knight Origin" to Tribute Summon "Obelisk the Tormentor" (4000/4000).

"Obelisk" attacks Yami Yugi directly, but Yami Yugi activates the effect of "Electromagnetic Turtle" in his GY, banishing it in order to end the Battle Phase.

Kaiba Sets 1 card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 3: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi Normal Summons "Magician's Rod" (1600/100) and activates its 1st effect: when it is Normal Summoned, he can add 1 Spell/Trap from his Deck to his hand, that specifically lists the card "Dark Magician" in its text. He adds "Bond Between Teacher and Student". Yami Yugi then activates "Monster Reborn", allowing him to target and Special Summon 1 monster from either player's GY. He targets and Special Summons "Slifer the Sky Dragon" (?/?). "Slifer" gains 1000 ATK for every card in Yugi's hand. He currently has 2 (? → 2000/? → 2000 ATK/DEF). He then activates the 2nd effect of "Soul Servant" in his GY, banishing it in order to Draw cards equal to the number of "Palladium" monsters, "Dark Magician", and/or "Dark Magician Girl", with different names, on the field and in the GYs. There are currently 2, so he Draws 2 cards ("Slifer": 2000 → 4000/2000 → 4000 ATK/DEF).

"Slifer" attacks "Obelisk", however Kaiba activates his Set "Enemy Controller" and uses its 1st effect to target 1 face-up monster his opponent controls and change its battle position. He targets "Slifer". In response, Yami Yugi activates his Set "Shift", making "Magician's Rod" the new target, which is then changed to Defense Position. The attack continues and both "Slifer" and "Obelisk" are destroyed in a Double KO.

Turn 4: Kaiba
Kaiba activates "Rage with Eyes of Blue", banishing it and all cards in his hand, field, and GY face-down in order to Special Summon up to 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" from his Deck, however he cannot Normal or Special Summon monsters the turn he activates this card, except "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". He Special Summons 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" (3000/2500), all in Attack Position.

The 1st "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks and destroys "Magician's Rod". The 2nd "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks Yami Yugi directly (Yami Yugi: 5000 → 2000 LP). The 3rd "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks Yami Yugi directly, however Yami Yugi activates the effect of "Kuriboh" in his hand, discarding it to make the battle damage 0.

Turn 5: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi activates "Monster Reincarnation", allowing him to discard 1 card to target 1 monster in his GY and add it to his hand. He discards an unknown card and adds "Magicians' Souls". He then activates the 2nd effect of "Magicians' Souls", sending an unknown Level 6 or higher Spellcaster from his Deck to his GY, then sending "Magicians' Souls to the GY" and Special Summoning "Dark Magician" (2500/2000) from his GY in Attack Position. Since he controls "Dark Magician", Yami Yugi activates "Bond Between Teacher and Student", allowing him to Special Summon "Dark Magician Girl" (2000/1700) in Attack Position, and then he Sets "Dark Magic Twin Burst" directly from his Deck, which he then activates, targeting "Dark Magician" and having it gain ATK equal to the combined ATK of all "Dark Magician Girls" currently on the field and in the GYs, until the end of this turn. There is currently 1 ("Dark Magician": 2500 → 4500/2000). Yami Yugi pays 1000 LP (Yami Yugi: 2000 → 1000 LP) to activate "Diffusion Wave-Motion", allowing him to target 1 Level 7 or higher Spellcaster monster he controls and force it to attack all monsters his opponent controls once each, also other monsters he controls cannot attack. In addition, the effects of monsters destroyed by these attacks cannot activate and are negated. He targets "Dark Magician".

"Dark Magician" attacks and destroys all 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" (Kaiba: 4000 → 2500 → 1000 → 0 LP).
