Kirihito Kamagaya (かまヶ谷がや キリヒト Kamagaya Kirihito) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. He is a student at Goha #5 Elementary and a member of the Battle Bug Club.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Full-body view of Kirihito.

Kirihito is a tall boy with teal eyes and sandy brown hair. He wears a light blue short-sleeved shirt over a red long-sleeved shirt, black pants, brown shoes, and a green backpack shaped like a praying mantis, and also carries a net on a stick.

Kirihito later wears more stereotypical ninja clothing; a dark grey tunic with folds at the shoulders, a dark green undershirt, a dark green belt with a large yellow star-shaped buckle with what appears to be a character written on it, black pants, dark green arm and shin wrappings, and lavender socks with sandals. He continues to wear his mantis backpack and also wears a dark green eyemask.

Abilities[edit]

Kirihito's backpack is capable of cutting through metal doors cleanly in seconds with its "arms" and is incredibly precise, slicing apart Luke's bug-catching net with ease.

Etymology[edit]

"Kirihito" means "cutting man", referencing Kirihito's ability to cut through almost anything. It also sounds similar to the poetic expression 桐一葉, "kirihitoha", "falling pauwlonia leaf". "Kama" means sickle, and "kamakiri" translates to "mantis".

Biography[edit]

Goha #6 Elementary[edit]

Kirihito, Nana and Kabuto attended Goha #7 Elementary's Rush Duel Training Camp with Goha #2 Elementary's Duel Dinosaur Club and Goha #3 Elementary's Saburamen, Sushiko Maki and Briscoe.[2] They left before the end of the camp.[3]

Team Battle Royal[edit]

The Battle Bug Club entered the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal; Kabuto Dueling Booster Page from their school's Duelstronauts.[4] However they failed to place in the tournament.[5]

Goha Employee[edit]

Nana decided to steal Yuga Ohdo's "Hyper Engine Vast Vulcan" Maximum Monsters, so when Goha #5 Elementary went to the Goha Enterprises Main Office on a field trip, Kirihito, Nana and Kabuto all slipped away from the rest of the group. Kirihito and Kabuto found Yuga's office, but as they were hiding outside Luke tried to catch Kabuto in his bug net and Kabuto flipped him effortlessly. Nana reunited with them after Kirihito cut the door to Yuga's office down and disarmed Luke of his bug net, causing Yuga to flee from fear of her ladybug hat. Yuga soon returned and threatened to blow up the building to get rid of Nana's hat, though fortunately Luke talked him into Rush Dueling Nana. Yuga's violent destruction of Nana's ladybug monsters in his first turn prompted Kirihito to accuse him of a hatred of bugs, though Nana's ladybug monsters eventually scared Yuga away. After a power outage, Yuga returned and Maximum Summoned a new Maximum, "Supreme Skystream Magnum Overlord", which he explained had been transformed from the "Vast Vulcan" cards due to the Pauli effect of Luke's wristwatch, and he defeated Nana. As Kirihito ran to Nana's side she admitted her defeat and retreated with Kirihito and Kabuto, vowing Yuga and Swirls would see them again. That evening they reconvened as Nana reported their progress to Nanamaru, retrieving data she'd extracted from Yuga's office.[1]

Kirihito and Kabuto disguised themselves as Yuga, along with five of their other operatives, to help Nana manipulate Yuga's friends. After Nana, disguised as Romin Kassidy, led Gavin Sogetsu, Mimi Imimi and Romin's cousin Roa to the labyrinth they were hiding in, they ran around to confuse Yuga's friends before emerging together and accusing them of spying on Yuga. Before they could challenge them to Rush Duels, Asana Mutsuba arrived with the real Romin, blowing Nana's cover, and Kirihito and his fellow operatives revealed themselves. After Nana mocked Yuga's friends for going behind his back and claimed their plans would get more interesting, she ordered Kirihito and his fellow operatives to withdraw.[6]
