"Mirage" (蜃気楼 Shinkirō) is the first Japanese opening theme of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime, performed by Frederic.[1]

Changes[edit]

  • From episode 3 onwards, the following changes are made:
    • The scenes of Yudias Velgear, Yuhi Ohdo, and Yuamu Ohdo from the GO RUSH!! trailer are replaced with new scenes featuring Valvelgear and its inhabitants, Yuhi and Yuamu, the workers at UTS, and Nyandestar.
    • "Galactica Oblivion" now attacks with both blue and yellow lightning, instead of only blue lightning.
    • The scenes showing Yuhi and Yuamu alongside their respective signature monsters are moved to before the scene of "Transamu Rainac" posing, replacing the scene of "Transamu Rainac" being Summoned.
    • Replacing those two scenes, as well as the sequence of "Transamu Rainac" attacking from episode 1, is a rising shot of various signature monsters from the anime, with the ones not seen yet being silhouetted; the visible monsters are "Super Assistant Achi" and "Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan".
    • The scene of "Transamu Rainac" fading to Yudias is replaced with Yudias staring into the sky, with Yuhi and Yuamu placing their hands on his shoulders.
    • In the final shot, the eyes of Mitsuko Hiramori are glowing.
  • From episode 6 onwards, following the debut of "Kappa Emperor River Slider" in the previous episode, its silhouette is drawn in detail and full color.
    • From episode 7 onwards, following the debut of "Alien Count of the White Dwarf, St. Germain" in the previous episode, its silhouette is drawn in detail and full color.
    • From episode 9 onwards, following the debut of "Dian Keto the Cure Maiden" in the previous episode, its silhouette is drawn in detail and full color.
    • From episode 10 onwards, following the debut of "Chemicalize Salamander" in the previous episode, its silhouette is replaced with its model in detail and full color, with a slightly different pose and appearance.
    • From episode 12 onwards, following the debut of "Voidvelgr Requiem" in the previous episode, its silhouette is replaced with its model in detail and full color, with a slightly different pose and appearance.
  • From episode 21 onwards, the signature monsters seen are replaced with a new set, with one silhouetted monster that was not seen yet; the visible monsters are "Chemicalize Salamander", "Red-Boot Boost Dragon", "Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan", "Jointech Tossceratops", "Analyze Phlogiston", and "Voidvelgr Requiem".
  • From episode 22 onwards, Zuwijo zir Velgear and the other aliens in the ending shot are replaced with Rovian Kirishima, Yuna Goha, and 2 silhouetted characters.
    • From episode 23 onwards, corresponding with his debut in the same episode, the silhouette of Menjaburo Omori is drawn in detail and full color.
    • From episode 25 onwards, corresponding with his debut in the same episode, the silhouette of Netsuzo Shinjitsu is drawn in detail and full color.

Lyrics (TV Size)[edit]

Soko de matteitatte matteitatte shikatanai darō
Wakariaenakute tatakatte kitanda jimonjitō
Atsuku natte wa sa hashitteitanda hikaru hoshi e
Soko janakutatte kamawanaida nante ienai yo

Iya shikashi te ni tottatte
Mata kasunde kietekunda
Motto motto me wo korashite

Marude shinkirō te wo nobashite shinkirō
Masshiro ni somattemo wasurenaide
Soredemo shinkirō ginga yori mo tōku e
Taemanai supīdo de tobitatteikō mienakutemo
Motto tōku e ayumiyotte shinkirō

Stuck here just standing still and waiting,
I realized we're fighting 'cuz we can't understand each other.
Burning up, we kicked off running toward the shining star.
And don't say it won't matter if it's not there.

Still, when I try to pick it up,
it turns to mist again and again,
and I just strain my eyes even harder—

It's almost like a mirage—a mirage you could just reach out and grab.
Even after it fades to white, we won't ever forget it.
Even if the mirage flies off beyond this galaxy
at a nonstop speed and leaves our sight,
then we'll just walk after it even farther, that mirage.

Trivia[edit]

  • The full song is reportedly about "Traveling in search of hope", and even if the future is blurry like a mirage, its message is keeping your chin up and remaining eager and curious and being willing to tackle anything that comes your way.
  • This is the first Yu-Gi-Oh! debut opening to not appear in the first episode of its respective show.
    • On top of this, the opening aired in Episode 2 was not the finished opening, reusing animation from both the trailer and the first episode.
