Premium Pack
The Premium Packs are Booster Packs that were devised by Konami to provide players with the opportunity to acquire higher value cards, at a relatively low price compared to that of a normal Booster Pack.
OCG[edit]
In the OCG, Premium Packs proved very popular. They were met with much enthusiasm, primarily because normal Booster Packs in the OCG are not guaranteed a rare. Sets usually contained Secret Rare and Ultra Rare cards, while more recent sets also contained Common cards.
Modern OCG Premium Packs also stand out in that they primarily contain new cards from the manga, in contrast to most other booster packs which focus on anime cards. They are initially sold exclusively at Jump Festa events held in December, before becoming available for retail the following February or March. Most recently, and in keeping with the Jump-associations, these packs mostly serve to (1) continue to introduce cards previously only seen in the manga to the OCG, even after Core Boosters mostly moved away from the anime, and (2) provide a second opportunity to acquire 12 recent V Jump promotional cards.
TCG[edit]
There have been two Premium Packs released in the TCG. Premium Pack 1 is the TCG equivalent of the OCG's Premium Pack 6. Premium Pack 2 continued this trend, being the equivalent of Premium Pack 11. Premium Packs have since been replaced by the Hidden Arsenal series and other similar series.
