Anime appearances

"Pixie", known as "Yosei" (ようせい Yōsei) in Japan, is an archetype in the anime. Support cards did not exist until Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, with "Pixie Gong". Although almost all members of this archetype have Fairy in their English names, the support cards for this and the "Fairy" archetype list them as separate from one another. In the TCG/OCG, there are a notable number of (mostly EARTH) Level/Rank 4 or 6 Plant monsters that are all named after notable Fae in mythology and literature.

Etymology[edit]

The characters 妖精 (with the Japanese furigana ようせい, Yōsei) and フェアリー (Fearī) both have the same meaning of "fairy".
