A Premiere! Event is a pre-release event to promote the release of a new Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Core Booster before its official release. They are held at Konami's Official Tournament Stores, typically the weekend before the booster pack's official release date.

To participate in a Premiere!, participants must purchase at least 5 packs of the featured booster pack and register their CARD GAME ID with that event. While supplies last, participants also receive a Field Center Card. Participants may also purchase additional booster packs, subject to limits imposed by the store. All participants are also entered into a prize draw.[1]

Players can only participate in one Premiere! event per day, but can participate in any number of tournaments at a single event.[1]

History[edit]

Premiere! Events are the successor to Sneak Peek events. Premiere! events differ from Sneak Peeks in several key ways:[2]

  • Instead of all participants receiving a Sneak Peek participation card, OTS receive a limited number of promotional cards to distribute as prizes
  • Participants can purchase additional booster packs beyond the 5 booster packs required for entry

The first Premiere! event to be held was the Eternity Code Premiere!; the event was originally planned for April 25–26, 2020,[3] but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4][5] In New Zealand, the event was held on June 20–21, 2020.[6]

Prizes[edit]

Participating OTS receive a Premiere! kit including game mats (based on the booster pack) and an Ultra Rare promotional card. The Premiere! promotional card is also available in the booster packs themselves, but with a different rarity and Card Number.

These items are intended to be distributed as prizes during the event, so OTS only receive a limited number of each.[1] For example, at the Eternity Code Premiere!, each OTS received 4 copies of the promotional card and two mouse pads.[3]

If the OTS is not running a Premiere! Event Tournament, all of the prizes in the kit are distributed either as door prizes (at random) or through the prize draw. If the OTS is running a Premiere! Event Tournament, up to half of the prizes can be used as prizes for the tournament, while the remaining prizes are distributed as door prizes or via the prize draw. All registered participants at the Premiere! Event are entered into the prize draw.[1]

Participants can only win a maximum of one of each prize (one game mat and one promotional card) per location that weekend. For example, if a player has already won a game mat and would win another due to winning a tournament, it is instead awarded to the next eligible player.[1]

Premiere! Event Tournament[edit]

OTS stores hosting a Premiere! Event can choose to additionally host a Premiere! Event Tournament as part of the event. The Premiere! Event Tournament is open to any player registered in the event.

The Premiere! Event Tournament is an Advanced Format Constructed tournament. During this event only, cards from the featured booster pack are legal prior to their official release. Players are not required to complete a Deck List.[1]
