Seto Kaiba and Noah Kaiba's Duel is a Duel that took place in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. It is the penultimate Duel of the Virtual World arc, taking place between Noah Kaiba and his foster brother Seto Kaiba. Due to outside influence, Yugi Muto takes over the Duel for Seto halfway through.

Events[edit]

Very recently, The Big Five (formerly) of KaibaCorp launched a combined attack against the prisoners of the Virtual World; however, when Yugi Muto and Joey Wheeler stepped up to challenge them, Seto Kaiba slipped away from the group. This entire foray into the Virtual World began because of Noah Kaiba, who claims to be the real son of Gozaburo Kaiba, and now Noah has gone so far as to kidnap Mokuba Kaiba to hurt Seto. As far as Kaiba is concerned, this is now firmly a family matter, and outsiders aren't invited. To that end, he has been wandering alone through valleys and mountaintops, following a trail of breadcrumbs that will inevitably lead to Noah.

Noah, for his part, has decided that The Big Five have failed him for the last time, and that he will now deal with Kaiba personally. To that end, he leads Kaiba to a new location that he's only seen in dreams - Kaiba Land, a Duel Monsters theme park that isn't scheduled to start construction for another four years. Within, Kaiba finds a distinct lack of decoration, as well as more information on Noah himself; namely, some unclear context as to why Gozaburo has a young son who should by all rights be the same age as Seto himself. Kaiba wonders why Noah would show him such things, and considers the possibility that there may be another hand in this game.

Finally, Kaiba reaches a train terminal within the virtual Kaiba Land, and is prompted to board the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Train, leaving Kaiba Land and heading towards the end of the line. He soon arrives at a field of lava, on a platform opposite to his adoptive brother Noah. Kaiba first demands Mokuba's return, then direct answers from Noah. Noah refuses the first outright, as he claims Mokuba loves him now more than Seto, but confirms what Kaiba found previously. He is truly Gozaburo's real son, raised and taught by the man to become the heir to the KaibaCorp business empire. That was all stolen away from him one day after a fatal car accident. His body perished, but his mind was saved, converted into data into KaibaCorp's most advanced supercomputer, with an entire Virtual World to rule over. Gozaburo brought Seto and Mokuba home soon after; originally, they were meant to serve as rivals to Noah, giving him the drive and motivation to double down on his studies, but without a body, Noah could no longer be the heir. The position therefore fell to Seto, and Noah was slowly forgotten.

But now, Noah declares that he will settle all his scores, and reclaim everything that he deserves - his life, his freedom, and his family's legacy. And that all begins with this Duel, where Noah will defeat Seto, claim his body, and become the true "Kaiba" in "KaibaCorp". Kaiba can only laugh at the audacity of this complete stranger not only claiming to be his family, but also believing that he can defeat Seto Kaiba in a Duel. Seto re-built KaibaCorp on his own merits, and has undergone trials and tribulations every day since he was taken into the Kaiba family. He refuses to let all of his work be reduced to being for someone else's benefit, and he certainly won't give it up without a fight. Noah agrees, and tells Kaiba to choose his cards wisely, for the final showdown has begun.

Meanwhile, Yugi and friends have finally discovered that the robot monkey they've been keeping with them is in fact Tristan Taylor, who they believed to have been lost to cyberspace forever after his body was stolen. Unfortunately, his body hasn't been recovered after The Big Five's defeat, but after an argument with Joey, a hidden switch is pressed on Tristan's robotic body, activating a failsafe that opens a door to Kaiba Land. Following Kaiba's trail, and after some hijinks along the way, the group arrives in time to witness the Duel as it unfolds.

Featured Duel[edit]

Part 1[edit]

Per the rules of the Virtual World, every player chooses a Deck Master from their Deck at the beginning of the Duel. Seto chooses "Kaiser Sea Horse" as his Deck Master, while Noah choice isn't shown immediately.

Turn 1: Seto - 4000 LP
Seto Normal Summons "Giant Germ" (L2|1000/100) in Attack Position. He then Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 2: Noah - 4000 LP
Noah Normal Summons "Chiron the Mage" (L4|1800/1000) in Attack Position. He then activates the effect of "Chiron the Mage" to destroy Seto's Set card, revealed to be "Crush Card Virus". Noah attacks and destroys "Giant Germ" with "Chiron the Mage" (Seto: 4000 → 3200 LP). Since it was destroyed in battle, Seto activates the effect of "Giant Germ", inflicting 500 damage to Noah (Noah: 4000 → 3500 LP), then Special Summoning a second "Giant Germ" from his Deck in Attack Position.

Turn 3: Seto - 3200 LP
Seto Tributes "Giant Germ" to Tribute Summon "Vampire Lord" (L5|2000/1500) in Attack Position. Seto attacks and destroys "Chiron the Mage" with "Vampire Lord" (Noah: 3500 → 3300). Since it destroyed a monster in battle, Seto activates the effect of "Vampire Lord", choosing a card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap, and forcing Noah to send a card of that type from his Deck to the Graveyard. He chooses Monster Card, and Noah sends "Giant Soldier of Stone" to the Graveyard.

Turn 4: Noah - 3300 LP
Noah activates "Fissure", destroying the monster Seto controls with the highest ATK, which is "Vampire Lord". He then Normal Summons "Aeris" (L4|1800/1000), then uses it to attack Seto directly (Seto: 3200 → 1400 LP). Noah Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 5: Seto - 1400 LP
During his Standby Phase, as it was destroyed by a card effect during the previous turn, Seto activates the effect of "Vampire Lord" in the Graveyard, Special Summoning it back to the field in Attack Position. He then Normal Summons "Slate Warrior" (L4|1900/400) in Attack Position. Seto attacks "Aeris" with "Vampire Lord", but Noah activates his Set "Earthshaker" by declaring DARK and WIND. Seto must choose 1 of these Attributes, and all monsters on the field with that Attribute will be destroyed. Seto chooses DARK, counting on "Vampire Lord" being able to revive itself the next turn, and "Vampire Lord" is destroyed. Seto attacks and destroys "Aeris" with "Slate Warrior" (Noah: 3300 → 3200 LP).

Turn 6: Noah - 3200 LP
Noah activates "Giant Flood", forcing both players to send every monster in their hand and on their field to the Graveyard (though neither player has any monsters in their hand currently). At this point, Noah reveals his Deck Master - "Shinato's Ark". With his Deck Master's ability now in play, all monsters in either Graveyard, as well as any further monsters sent to the Graveyard, are absorbed into "Shinato's Ark". This includes two "Giant Germ", "Chiron the Mage", "Vampire Lord", "Aeris", and "Slate Warrior".

Turn 7: Seto - 1400 LP
Seto Normal Summons "Spear Dragon" (L4|1900/0) in Attack Position, then uses it to attack Noah directly; however, Noah counters with his Deck Master's second ability. During Seto's Battle Phase, he can release monsters from "Shinato's Ark" and move it to his field in Defense Position to counter all of Seto's attacking monsters. He releases "Vampire Lord". A replay occurs, and Seto attacks and destroys "Vampire Lord" with "Spear Dragon", with the effect of "Spear Dragon" inflicting piercing battle damage (Noah: 3200 → 2800 LP). "Vampire Lord" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark". At the end of the Damage Step, since it attacked, the effect of "Spear Dragon" activates, forcing it into Defense Position.

Turn 8: Noah - 2800 LP
Noah Normal Summons "Giant Rex" (L4|2000/1200) in Attack Position, then uses it to attack and destroy "Spear Dragon". "Spear Dragon" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark".

Turn 9: Seto - 1400 LP
Seto activates "Pot of Greed", drawing 2 cards. He uses his Deck Master's ability, allowing him to Normal Summon a LIGHT monster for 1 fewer Tribute this turn. He Normal Summons "Different Dimension Dragon" (L5|1400/1500) in Defense Position without Tributing, then Sets three cards in his Spell & Trap Zones.

Turn 10: Noah - 2800 LP
Noah activates "Deepest Impact", destroying all monsters on the field and halving both players' LP; however, "Different Dimension Dragon" cannot be destroyed by Spells that don't target it, and so only "Giant Rex" is destroyed (Seto: 1400 → 700 LP; Noah: 2800 → 1400 LP). "Giant Rex" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark". Since he controls no monsters, Noah activates "Ice Age Panic" to Special Summon an EARTH monster from his Deck. He Special Summons "Last Tusk Mammoth" (L3|800/1200) in Attack Position.

Noah attacks "Different Dimension Dragon" with "Last Tusk Mammoth". With its effect, Seto takes all battle damage Noah would take from battles involving "Last Tusk Mammoth", which would be 700 in this battle. In response, Seto activates his Set "Ring of Destruction" by targeting "Last Tusk Mammoth", destroying it and inflicting its ATK as damage to both players. He then activates "Ring of Defense" in chain, reducing the damage he would take by his Trap Card to 0. The chain resolves, and "Last Tusk Mammoth" is destroyed (Noah: 1400 → 800 LP). "Last Tusk Mammoth" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark".

Turn 11: Seto - 700 LP
Seto switches "Different Dimension Dragon" to Attack Position, then activates the effect of "Thunder Dragon" in his hand, discarding it to add two more "Thunder Dragon" from his Deck to his hand. He then activates "Polymerization", using the two "Thunder Dragon" in his hand as Fusion Material to Fusion Summon "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon" (L8|2800/2100). All three "Thunder Dragon" are absorbed into "Shinato's Ark". By Battle City Rules, Fusion Monsters cannot attack the turn they are Fusion Summoned, so Seto activates "Quick Attack" to bypass this rule for his Fusion Monster.

At the start of his Battle Phase, Noah uses his Deck Master's ability to release "Giant Soldier of Stone" (L3|1300/2000) and "Giant Rex" to his field. In response, Seto activates his Set "Dragon's Rage", allowing his Dragon-Type monsters to inflict piercing battle damage this turn. Seto attacks and destroys "Giant Rex" with "Different Dimension Dragon" (Noah: 600 → 400 LP). "Giant Rex" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark".

Seto prepares to attack and destroy "Giant Soldier of Stone" with "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon", which will end the Duel decisively. However, at this point, Mokuba Kaiba is transported to the arena by Noah, and demands that Seto (who he doesn't recognize anymore) cease hurting his "big brother" Noah. Seto tries to talk sense into his brother, but Noah's continued brainwashing over the course of his imprisonment has him too tightly, and he refuses to budge. Noah berates Seto for failing to appreciate his brother enough. Seto must decide between attacking and risking grievous harm to his brother, or stopping his attack and risk the outcome of the Duel

In the end, Seto chooses his brother, and ends his turn.

Turn 12: Noah - 400 LP
Noah uses his Deck Master's third ability, banishing all the monsters it has absorbed and increasing his own LP by 500 for each banished card. It has absorbed twelve monsters, so Noah gains 6000 LP (Noah: 400 → 6400 LP). He then activates "Dark Hole", destroying all monsters on the field. Thanks to its effect, "Different Dimension Dragon" isn't destroyed, and so only "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon" and "Giant Soldier of Stone" are destroyed, and are subsequently absorbed into "Shinato's Ark".

Turn 13: Seto - 700 LP
Seto reflects on his relationship with his brother, and tries to snap him out of Noah's control. He is unable to do so, but is encouraged to continue by Yugi Muto, who has dealt with a very similar situation recently. Seto switches "Different Dimension Dragon" into Defense Position.

Turn 14: Noah - 6400 LP
Noah Normal Summons "Gradius" (L4|1200/800). He then activates "Cyclon Laser" and "Matter Leveler", equipping both to "Gradius". With the former, "Gradius" gains 300 ATK ("Gradius": 1200 → 1500 ATK) and inflicts piercing battle damage, and with the latter, when "Gradius" attacks a Defense Position monster, its ATK will become equal to that monster's DEF + 100 during damage calculation only.

Noah attacks "Different Dimension Dragon" with "Gradius", whose ATK becomes 1600 for this battle with the effect of "Matter Leveler". "Different Dimension Dragon", however, cannot be destroyed by battle (Seto: 700 → 600 LP).

Turn 15: Seto - 600 LP
Seto passes his turn.

Turn 16: Noah - 6400 LP
Since he controls "Gradius", Noah Special Summons "Gradius' Option" (L1|?/?) from his hand, which becomes an exact replica of the "Gradius" he already controls, including the effects of all Equip Cards ("Gradius' Option": 1500 ATK/800 DEF). Noah attacks "Different Dimension Dragon" with "Gradius", followed by "Gradius' Option", with the effect of "Matter Leveler" making both monsters' ATK become 1600 for those battles only (Seto: 600 → 500 → 400 LP).

Seto is beginning to run out of options, but Yugi makes a plea for Mokuba to come back to his senses - Seto has always been there for him, and is still here for him now. Noah's brainwashing starts to show cracks, and Seto reminds him that, no matter what they endured growing up, and no matter what torturous training Seto went through to become heir to KaibaCorp, Mokuba was always the person he relied on most, gave him the motivation and drive to be the man he is today. Mokuba saved him then, and he'll save Mokuba now. Seto stands up to continue the Duel, declaring that as long as Mokuba is by his side, he'll win this Duel, without fail.

Turn 17: Seto - 400 LP
Seto Sets a card, then uses his Deck Master's ability to Normal Summon a LIGHT monster for one fewer Tribute this turn. He Tributes "Different Dimension Dragon" to Tribute Summon "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (L8|3000/2500) in Attack Position. "Different Dimension Dragon" is absorbed into "Shinato's Ark". Seeing "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" finally breaks Noah's brainwashing, and Mokuba absconds. Noah is heavily displeased with Mokuba's disobedience, but more importantly, this leaves Noah without a shield. Seto attacks and destroys "Gradius" with "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Noah: 6400 → 4900 LP). Since "Gradius" has been destroyed, "Gradius' Option" is also destroyed. Both monsters are absorbed into "Shinato's Ark".

At the end of the turn, Noah uses his Deck Master's ability, banishing the five monsters it's absorbed to gain 500 LP for each monster (Noah: 4900 → 6400 LP).

Turn 18: Noah - 4900 LP
Before Noah can act and since his LP are lower than 1000, Seto activates his Set "Last Turn". Seto chooses 1 of his monsters in play, then forces both players to send all other cards from their hand and field to the Gravayard, after which Noah can Special Summon any monster from his Deck. The turn then proceeds to the Battle Phase, and both the chosen monsters battle, with all battle damage becoming 0. Whoever still controls a monster at the end of the turn will automatically win the Duel. Seto chooses his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" as his monster, while Noah, instead of Special Summoning, chooses to Summon his Deck Master "Shinato's Ark" to the field.

"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks and destroys "Shinato's Ark"; however, Noah uses the final Deck Master ability of "Shinato's Ark", which breaks away to reveal "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" (L8|3300/3000), who becomes Noah's new Deck Master. The attack continues on "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane", who counters and destroys "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". "Shinato's Ark" has left play, and so "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" remains in the Graveyard. At the end of the turn, Noah is the only player with a monster remaining, and so wins the Duel.

Interim[edit]

Noah has won, and can now claim Seto's body and escape. But before he leaves for the real world, there's just one last thing to take care of. Noah merges with his Deck Master to deliver the true final blow of this Duel, by turning Seto into a permanent decoration of the Virtual World. Mokuba rushes to his brother's side at the last moment, and Noah, no longer having a need for the disobedient little brother, decides he can share Seto's fate. With his power over the datascape, he transforms the two brothers into stone statues, forever close but forever apart.

Noah declares his ultimate victory, but Yugi Muto believes differently. The only result of this Duel is that Noah has proven how dishonorable he is as a Duelist. Seto could have won, but chose his brother's safety over victory. By kidnapping Mokuba, only to use him as a shield against his brother, he's shown that he's nothing but a child who needs to cheat to get his way, and that renders the result of this Duel meaningless. But Yugi has a solution to this dilemma. Seto had 400 LP remaining in the last turn, and so Yugi challenges Noah to resume the Duel from where it left off, with Yugi using Seto's Deck Master, his LP, and his cards mixed with Yugi's own cards. Noah believes Yugi to be a fool, but decides that he would be even more of a fool to decline such a one-sided challenge. With his friends behind him, the Duel begins again, and the fate of the Kaiba brothers is placed in Yugi's hands.

Part 2[edit]

Due to taking place in the same game state as the last Duel ended, Noah has 7400 LP, while Yugi has 400, and neither player has any cards in their hand. Yugi's Deck Master is "Kaiser Sea Horse" and isn't in play, while Noah's Deck Master is "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" (L8|3300/3000) and is in Attack Position. Since the Duel ended at the end of Noah's turn, Yugi begins the second half, and furthermore because Yugi's mostly using a different Deck now, Noah takes this opportunity to change the Deck he's using.

Turn 19: Yugi - 400 LP
Yugi Normal Summons "Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts" (L4|1500/1200) in Defense Position.

Turn 20: Noah - 7400 LP
Currently, all Noah needs to do is draw a single monster with 400 ATK, and Yugi will be defeated; however, he is unlucky in his draw, and has no monsters. He instead attacks and destroys "Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts" with "Shinato, King of a higher Plane". Since it destroyed a monster by battle, Noah activates his Deck Master ability, halving Yugi's LP (Yugi: 400 → 200 LP). Furthermore, due to his Deck Master's second ability, whenever Yugi's LP are decreased, his own are increased by the same amount (Noah: 7400 → 7600 LP).

Turn 21: Yugi - 200 LP
Yugi Sets a monster face-down.

Turn 22: Noah - 7600 LP
Noah Normal Summons the Spirit monster "Yata-Garasu" (L2|200/100), in Attack Position. Noah attacks Yugi's Set monster with "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane", which is revealed to be "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian" (L4|1400/1200); however, the latter cannot be destroyed by battle with monsters with an ATK of 1900 or higher.

Noah activates "Spring of Rebirth". Whenever a monster on his field is returned to his hand, Noah will gain 500 LP. Coincidentally, during the End Phase of the turn they're Normal Summoned, the effect of all Spirit monsters activate, returning themselves to their owner's hand. "Yata-Garasu" returns to Noah's hand (Noah: 7600 → 8100 LP).

Turn 23: Yugi - 200 LP
Yugi Sets a monster face-down.

Turn 24: Noah - 8100 LP
Noah Normal Summons "Asura Priest" (L4|1700/1200) in Attack Position. Noah attacks and destroys "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian" with "Asura Priest". "Asura Priest" is also able to attack every opponent's monster once each every turn, and so Noah attacks Yugi's Set monster with "Asura Priest", revealed to be "Cyber Jar" (L3|900/900), one of Seto's monsters. The Flip effect of "Cyber Jar" activates, destroying all monsters on the field, then forcing both players to reveal the next 5 cards in their Decks and Special Summon any Level 4 or lower monsters among them, and add the remaining cards to their hand. Yugi reminds Noah the destruction of "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" means that he will lose the Duel; however, Noah uses his Deck Master's final ability, retreating it back out of play. In return, Noah will no longer be able to Summon "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" back to the field for the rest of the Duel.

The effect of "Cyber Jar" resolves, and "Asura Priest" is destroyed, then both players draw 5 cards. Yugi Special Summons "Sangan" (L3|1000/600) and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" (L4|1500/1800) in Defense Position. Noah, however, has only drawn Spirit monsters, which cannot be Special Summoned by normal means.

Turn 25: Yugi - 200 LP
Yugi Tributes "Sangan" and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" to Tribute Summon "Dark Magician" (L7|2500/2100) in Attack Position. Since it was sent from the field to the Graveyard, Yugi activates the effect of "Sangan" in his Graveyard to add a monster with an ATK of 1500 or less from his Deck to his hand. He chooses "Big Shield Gardna".

Yugi attacks Noah directly with "Dark Magician" (Noah: 8100 → 5600 LP).

Having lost his Deck Master and having his Spirit monsters countered, Noah stands and declares that he, who was born for greatness, will not stand for this humiliation - he will escape his virtual prison and repay all the injustices he's suffered, and he won't let Yugi or his band of ants stop him. Yugi absolutely refuses to hear talk of "humiliation" after what he did to Seto and Mokuba; perhaps he has been treated unfairly, and certainly nobody should be trapped like he has been these last years, but that's no excuse for lashing out at innocent people, or for the cruelty he has inflicted. Whatever it takes, Yugi vows to bring Noah down. Noah is greatly angered.

Turn 26: Noah - 5600 LP
Noah activates "Next World" by targeting "Dark Magician". He can now Normal Summon a Spirit monster from his hand with an equal Level to "Dark Magician" without Tributing. He Normal Summons "Yamata Dragon" (L7|2600/3100). Noah attacks and destroys "Dark Magician" with "Yamata Dragon" (Yugi: 200 → 100 LP; Noah: 5600 → 5700 LP). During the End Phase, since it was Normal Summoned this turn, "Yamata Dragon" returns to Noah's hand (Noah: 5700 → 6200 LP).

Yugi is frustrated to see that, no matter what he does, Noah's LP keep increasing every turn, while he barely has any left to lose - at this rate, defeating Noah will be impossible. Yugi's friends - Joey, Téa, Tristan, Duke, and Serenity - all continue to cheer him on, and he redoubles his resolve.

Turn 27: Yugi - 100 LP
Yugi activates "Swords of Revealing Light", preventing Noah from declaring an attack for the next three turns. He then Normal Summons "Kuriboh" (L1|300/200) and subsequently uses it to attack Noah directly (Noah: 6200 → 5900 LP).

Yugi's friends compliment his playing, but Noah's patience for their chatter is becoming thin. He knows that Yugi's only stalling for time to think of a way out of this desperate situation, and so makes a promise - the moment "Swords of Revealing Light" disappear, Yugi will be erased by Noah's superior Dueling.

Turn 28: Noah - 5900 LP
Noah Sets a monster face-down. It has been one turn since "Swords of Revealing Light" was activated.

Turn 29: Yugi - 100 LP
Yugi Normal Summons "Big Shield Gardna" (L4|100/2600) in Defense Position and switches "Kuriboh" into Defense Position.

Turn 30: Noah - 5900 LP
Noah Sets a monster face-down, then Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone. It has been two turn since "Swords of Revealing Light" was activated.

Turn 31: Yugi - 100 LP
Yugi Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Noah declares his victory is near, and mocks Yugi's friends for believing otherwise. Joey, however, states that a kid like Noah who's been alone his whole life couldn't understand the bonds of friendship. As long as they're together, and as long as they believe, nothing's impossible. Noah's patience for their insults has finally run its course, and he decides to put that theory to the test. With another bolt of virtual lightning, Noah turns Duke into a stone statue just the same as Seto and Mokuba. And from now on, for every turn he has to take to defeat Yugi, he'll turn another one of his friends into stone. Yugi and his friends, however, refuse to be intimidated by Noah's threats, and continue for everyone's sake.

Turn 32: Noah - 5900 LP
Noah activates his Set "Pyro Clock of Destiny", forcing the turn count on "Swords of Revealing Light" to advance by one. Since three turns have passed since it was activated, "Swords of Revealing Light" is destroyed. Noah then Flip Summons his Set "Otohime" (L3|0/100). Since it was flipped face-up, Noah activates the effect of "Otohime", allowing him to force "Kuriboh" into Attack Position. Noah then Tributes "Otohime" and his Set monster to Tribute Summon "Yamata Dragon".

Noah attacks "Kuriboh" with "Yamata Dragon"; however, Yugi activates his Set "Nutrient Z". Since he would take 2000 damage from this battle, he regains 4000 LP before damage calculation occurs. The attack continues, and "Kuriboh" is destroyed (Yugi: 100 → 4100 → 1800; Noah: 5900 → 8200). Noah then activates the Quick-Play Spell "Sebek's Blessing" from his hand, further increasing his LP by the battle damage Yugi just received (Noah: 8200 → 10500 LP).

During the End Phase, since it was Normal Summoned this turn, "Yamata Dragon" returns to Noah's hand (Noah: 10500 → 11000 LP).

Turn 33: Yugi - 1800 LP
Yugi Normal Summons "Alpha The Magnet Warrior" (L4|1400/1700) in Attack Position, and subsequently uses it to attack Noah directly (Noah: 11000 → 9600 LP).

Turn 34: Noah - 9600 LP
Since Yugi continues to hang on, Noah keeps to his word and transforms another of Yugi's friends to stone - this time, Tristan, and after Joey continues insulting him, he assures them that Serenity will be next. Yugi demands he stop, but the only way that will happen is if Noah is defeated. With 9600 LP remaining, Noah invites Yugi to try.

Noah Normal Summons "Inaba White Rabbit" (L3|700/500) in Attack Position. Noah attacks with "Inaba White Rabbit", and with his monster's effect, he attacks Yugi directly (Yugi: 1800 → 1100 LP; Noah: 9600 → 10300 LP).

During the End Phase, since it was Normal Summoned this turn, "Inaba White Rabbit" returns to Noah's hand (Noah: 10300 → 10800 LP).

Turn 35: Yugi - 1100 LP
Yugi Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone. He then Tributes "Alpha The Magnet Warrior" to Tribute Summon "Dark Magician Girl" (L6|2000/1600) in Attack Position. "Dark Magician Girl" gains 300 ATK for each "Dark Magician" in any Graveyard, and there is one ("Dark Magician Girl": 2000 → 2300 ATK).

Yugi attacks Noah directly with "Dark Magician Girl" (Noah: 10800 → 8500 LP).

Turn 36: Noah - 8500 LP
Noah berates Yugi for seemingly not caring enough about his friends, before turning Serenity to stone as well.

Noah Normal Summons "Inaba White Rabbit" with the intent of attacking Yugi through his defenses; however, since his opponent has Normal Summoned a monster, Yugi activates his Set "Dark Renewal". By Tributing his own "Big Shield Gardna" and Noah's "Inaba White Rabbit", Yugi can Special Summon "Dark Magician" back from his Graveyard in Attack Position ("Dark Magician Girl": 2300 → 2000 ATK). Noah Sets a card in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 37: Yugi - 1100 LP
Yugi activates "Dark Magic Ritual", Tributing "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" (a Level 8 monster) to Ritual Summon "Magician of Black Chaos" (L8|2800/2600) in Attack Position. Yugi attacks Noah directly, but since Yugi controls 2 or more monsters, Noah activates his Set "Chaos Barrier Field", negating the attack and forcing Yugi's strongest and weakest monsters to battle instead. "Magician of Black Chaos" is forced to attack and destroy "Dark Magician Girl" (Yugi: 1100 → 300 LP; Noah: 8500 → 9300 LP). "Chaos Barrier Field" then ends the Battle Phase.

Turn 38: Noah - 9300 LP
Despite how he's been defied, Noah recognizes that Yugi's talents are greater than he expected, and offers him a deal - surrender the Duel and admit Noah's superiority as a Duelist, and he'll release all of Yugi's friends, no strings attached. Seto and Mokuba will remain his prisoners of course, but the two of them don't have to be rivals like Seto was to Yugi. Joey tells Yugi to keep fighting, and in retribution, Noah turns him to stone anyway. This, however, chooses Yugi's answer for him, and he refuses Noah's deal.

Noah Sets a monster, then two cards in his Spell & Trap Zone. In a display of pride and arrogance, he reveals one of them - the Trap Card "Ground Breaking", which will allow him to return a Spirit monster from his Graveyard to his hand. With it, he can retrieve "Inaba White Rabbit" and comfortably end the Duel the very next turn. And knowing this now won't help Yugi avoid his fate.

Turn 39: Yugi - 300 LP
Before Yugi can act, Noah activates his Set "Ground Breaking", returning "Inaba White Rabbit" to his hand. Yugi responds by activating "Card Destruction", forcing both players to discard the cards in their hand and draw the same number of cards from their Deck. Yugi has no cards to discard, while Noah discards and draws four, losing "Inaba White Rabbit".

Yugi attacks and destroys Noah's face-down monster, revealed to be a second "Otohime". Since it was flipped face-up, Noah activates its effect to force "Dark Magician" into Defense Position. Since his Spirit monster was destroyed, Noah then activates his Set "Vessel of Illusion" to Special Summon a "Spirit Token" with the same Type, Level, Attribute, ATK, and DEF as the destroyed monster (L3|0/100) in Defense Position.

Turn 40: Noah - 9300 LP
Noah considers turning Téa to stone to join her friends, but decides to leave her until the end of the turn so she can watch Noah win, and see how misplaced her faith is.

Noah activates "Change of Heart", allowing him to take control of Yugi's "Dark Magician". He Tributes "Dark Magician" and the "Spirit Token" to Tribute Summon "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" (L8|2800/2900) in Attack Position. Noah then activates "Flaming Fist", increasing the ATK of "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" by 200 ("Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi": 2800 → 3000 ATK) for the rest of the turn, and in addition if it inflicts battle damage to Yugi this turn, Noah will gain 500 LP. Noah attacks and destroys "Magician of Black Chaos" with "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" (Yugi: 300 → 100 LP; Noah: 9300 → 9500 → 10000 LP).

Noah activates "Spiritual Energy Settle Machine". Now during his End Phases, his Spirit monsters no longer return to his hand, though he must discard a card during the End Phase to keep "Spiritual Energy Settle Machine" in play. At the end of the turn, Noah discards a card for "Spiritual Energy Settle Machine", and the effect of "Flaming Fist" expires ("Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi": 3000 → 2800 ATK).

Also at the end of the turn, Noah keeps his word and turns Téa to stone. Yugi is now alone. Or so Noah would think, but two spirits share the body of Yugi Muto. And while the nameless pharaoh struggles to continue, the real spirit of Yugi Muto appears beside him, and reminds him that everyone is still with him, and still believes, no matter what - Joey, Téa, Tristan, Duke, Serenity, and even Seto and Mokuba. The pharaoh takes heart, and takes his final turn.

Turn 41: Yugi - 100 LP
Yugi draws and subsequently activates "Card of Sanctity", forcing both players to draw until they have 6 cards in their hand. Both players have empty hands, and so draw 6 cards. Yugi activates "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon a monster from any Graveyard. Since this Duel is a continuation of Seto's earlier Duel, Yugi chooses "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (L8|3000/2500) in his Graveyard. He then activates "Polymerization", using the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on his field and the 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in his hand as Fusion Material to Fusion Summon "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (L12|4500/3800) in Attack Position.

By Battle City Rules, Fusion Monsters cannot attack the turn they are Fusion Summoned, so Yugi activates "Quick Attack" to bypass this rule for his Fusion Monster. Yugi attacks and destroys "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" with "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (Noah: 10000 → 8300 LP). He then activates "De-Fusion", returning "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to his Extra Deck and Special Summoning the 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" that were used as material for its Fusion Summon from his Graveyard.

Yugi attacks Noah directly with 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Noah: 8300 → 5300 → 2300 → 0 LP).

Aftermath[edit]

Seto chose defeat for Mokuba's sake, and now in carrying on Seto's spirit, Yugi has finally defeated Noah and his victims, the Kaiba brothers included, are freed from their stone prisons. Seto finally embraces his brother, before noticing that Yugi has taken his cards to defeat Noah with. Noah, meanwhile, refuses to accept this loss, and tries to take Yugi's body by force to escape to the real world. He is deterred, however, by the ancient magicks that bind the nameless pharaoh to the Millennium Puzzle.

At that moment, the sky turns dark and ominous, and a voice resonates across the Virtual World. Seto guessed correctly earlier, and there is another hand in this game, and that hand belongs to Gozaburo Kaiba. The disgraced CEO of KaibaCorp digitized his own mind after his fall, and has been using Noah in his quest for revenge against Kaiba. Noah begs his father to give him another chance, but Gozaburo refuses. his son had his chance, and squandered it. Now, this matter is about more than simply KaibaCorp, because Gozaburo has his sights set even higher - his ambition is to convert the entire world into his Virtual World, where he can then rule over everything as the most powerful creature in existence. With a sinister laugh, he vanishes.

Noah still has an idea to get them out of this situation: a hidden backdoor in the system that can log Yugi, Seto, and the rest out of the Virtual World. Nobody wants to trust Noah, but they follow him to this backdoor terminal regardless. That lack of trust proves to be wise, as Noah activates the terminal to once again scatter the group across the Virtual World, leaving himself alone with Mokuba, and a way out. Noah might have been defeated, but the Virtual World is not yet finished with them.
