Sushi Fairy, known as Sushi Angel (寿てん使 Sushi Tenshi) in Asia, is a series of Fairy Type monsters debuting in Deck Mod Pack: Destined Power Destruction!! and used by Sushiko Maki in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. It is supported by the Roll (ロール Rōru) Spell Cards and the Rolled/Rolling (ローリング Rōringu) Trap Cards.

Design[edit]

The Sushi Fairy monsters are angelic creatures holding different kinds of sushi rolls. Most of them are named after and look like animals/insects, but the boss monsters (and the low-Level "Shariel, the Novice Sushi Fairy") are named in the same vein of archangels with the suffix "-el" and a pun on sushi; the Roll and Rolled/Rolling Spell/Trap Cards, in the other hand, feature the same monster that appears in the artworks of the Noodle Art Spell/Trap Cards from the Noodle Ninja series, whose users in the anime which those series originated from are related.

Playing Style[edit]

The Sushi Faries revolve around an OTK strategy, setting up a powerful board while the opponent has more than 4000 LP. The strategy involves using "Inside Out Roll" to reduce the ATK of an opponent's monster, Summoning "Gingangel, the Deluxe Sushi Fairy" to quickly deplete the opponent's LP, then defeating the opponent with a single attack. To facilitate this, "Agariel, the Finest Sushi Fairy" can increase the ATK of a Fairy Type monster by 1000, "Dragon Roll the Sushi Fairy" can draw a card by shuffling a Fairy Type monster from the Graveyard into the Deck during the turn it is Normal Summoned, and "Tiger Roll the Sushi Fairy" can add two Fairy Type monsters from the Graveyard to the hand. While this locks the player from Normal or Special Summoning from the hand for the rest of the turn, these monsters can be used to fulfill the cost of "Gingangel" or "Agariel", or Summoned during the opponent's turn with the effect of "Rolled Hot Arrow" while dealing damage. "Acetic Acid Trap Hole" can deny an opponent an important combo tool, while "Rolled Sticky Save" acts as a defensive option, while potentially putting the opponent above 4000 LP, the threshold needed for the opponent to be at to get the most value out of "Gingangel" and "Inside Out Roll".
