Usable Obelisk[edit]

By any chance should we note that Obelisk the Tormentor has become OCG-usable in this page? BlitzerRyuusei 01:46, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

how hard[edit]

How hard is it to get these cards--Blueyeyesawesomedragon 03:20, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

when it says that slifer came with Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light does that mean the movie or the book?--Blueyeyesawesomedragon 21:43, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I would have to say book cuz Slifer the Sky Dragon was not included in the promo cards for the movie --97.103.127.167 (talk) 00:02, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Normal or Effect?[edit]

Can I just ask if this card is really a Normal Monster or an Effect Monster, I mean, the real card here says a description like the normal cards but in many video games and anime, this card has an effect, so, is this really an effect monster or not? IF these cards are really normal, why are they illegal?--33royward 11:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Fate of the God Cards[edit]

What ever really happened to the God Cards? I recently looked back, and it seems to me that once Yugi put all seven Millennium Items into the "Millennium Stone", and Yami Yugi / Atem appeared with his own seperate body (well, a duplicate body of Yugi's for himself) the Duel Disk and deck he would be using ALSO appeared, and it also can be seen disappearing when the duel ended... So... What happened? All we know is they're not in the display deck in GX.... Rose Duelist 06:59, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Yugi probably kept them locked in a safe somewhere since they get stolen every three days --Blackstone Dresden 19:22, October 11, 2009 (UTC)

Uhm, any serious thoughts? They were in the Pharaoh's deck (and therefore Duel Disk) when he dueled Yugi, but both the Duel Disk and deck disappeared after the duel as quickly as they did when they appeared when Yugi & the Pharaoh split before the duel. So... What happened to the God Cards? The only evidence besides the disappearing deck & Duel Disk to me would be Seto Kaiba's abandonment of his goal to obtain them.

There's no hint that Seto steals them. Perhaps the Pharaoh took them with him like the Millenium Items.--77.13.133.34 (talk) 23:55, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure if any one remembers, but the Pharaoh took all three of them with him when we went to the afterlife, as for the items, they where lost forever when the stone was destroyed as a result of the Pharaoh going to the afterlife.--I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. Final episodes[edit]

We must note that on the last episode of yugioh gx,slifer was discard by yugi and use by atem.

Page protected[edit]

If this page weren't protected, I would like to make some change. For example, it's not true that "They are unaffected by Trap Cards while they are attacking" (in episode 66 Slifer is affected for 1 turn by Spellbinding Circle), and "when the god card is special summoned in the opponent's turn, it can be use as shield for all monsters you control" only if is summoned in Defense Position; and some other things. --80.182.27.197 18:41, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

since real god cards dont have there effect on them do they count as normal or effect monsters?

they cant legally be used at all. If you want to use it locally, its your call.

There were published legal versions by Shonen Jump.--77.13.133.34 (talk) 23:57, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

This page needs to change[edit]

It's becoming outdated. The god cards are being remade as legal effect monsters, so it would be nice if we had a "Play Style" section similar to the Wicked God and Sacred Beast articles that show how the god card effect monsters can be used in a duel.64.234.100.114 19:03, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Are the reprints of the god cards as effect monsters immune to card effects, spells, and trap cards like the orginal god cards or not? It would be good to know before I duel with them.

--Lord Apparition (talkcontribs) 03:42, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

Only work on their summon timing, other than that, they're cheap monsters. So try included "Hardened Armed Dragon" to complete the whole "immune" craps. --FredCat Ta.P.F.P.J.R.W.S.Th.P.S.C. 03:46, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

well about that one of the egyptian god card can be 'trageted' by spellbinding circle, its accually not 'trageted', or in this case its not trageted. I can be wrong, but i also destroyed obelisk the tormentor in yu-gi-oh nighmare troubadour with a widespread ruin, i thought that would also be 'trageted', but i still destroyed it. In the episodes is also something wrong. Seto & yugi came in a battle with Lumis & Umbra, and Seto summoned Obelisk, He attacked Lumis, Lumis activated mirror force, but obelisk negated the mirror force and attacked normally...

Incorrect & Misleading Effects

This page states that in the anime/manga they can only be targed by the effects of other Egyptian Gods when by what i have seen in the anime/manga they can be removed from play and targed by SpellBinding Circle, Shadow Spell, Swords of Revealing light, Nighmare steel cage Slifer's Effect can be targeted by Nighmare steel cage and swords of reveling light cause it is treated as an attack according to its description in the anime/manga. I have also seen that obelisk's effect can be used in a different way.

and other pages like this one go off guess work were a page i just put up (which faces deletion) gos by what i saw in the anime.

Slifer the Sky Dragon[edit]

The "Real God Cards" section needs to be updated with information about the legal Slifer the Sky Dragon, as it only references the legal Obelisk the Tormentor and Winged Dragon of Ra. 174.59.9.201 (talk) 19:29, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

Never mind, just noticed that it does, in fact, reference it. 174.59.9.201 (talk) 19:31, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

Careful with repeat topic - that can often leading you a warning or banned. And Age Goblin fixed it. --iFredCat 22:18, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

a translation change suggested[edit]

The English (literal) translation of 三幻神, Sangenshin, should really be 'The Three Mythical Gods', instead of Phantom. 144.32.128.51 (talk) 23:39, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

It can mean both. The Phantom Beasts also use "gen." I think they're using it as a synonym for "illusive," which in turn is a synonym for "mythical." 195.211.153.15 (talk) 23:55, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

Couple errors

1) If they are Special Summoned, they are sent to the Graveyard at the end of the turn.

This is incorrect as the god's were SS by Atem's Summon clock trap card, and remained on the field after the turn ended.

They are unaffected by the effects of Spell, Trap and Effect Monster Cards (except from another Egyptian God) unless the effect is to switch their battle position or increase or decrease their ATK or DEF points, in which case they are affected for one turn.

Not true. The god's themselves are still affected by Spell, traps, monster effects. They are immune to Spells/trap that will destroy/remove/ return, but all other effects will still target the god cards. If the god cards were immune, then ishizu's blast held in a tribute would never have worked on Obelisk.

Outdated[edit]

I think this part needs to be removed.

(In the Basic Game Play FAQ on the Official Web Site there is a question that says "What do the Egyptian god cards do?" and it is answered with "Nothing. They're not legitimate Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game cards. They have no effects and can't be used in your Deck.")

The Official Web Site link go to a dead site (the old UDE Site) + now that they Legal version have been released I think this is outdatedLeader of Team Mythology (talkcontribs) 04:13, September 5, 2013 (UTC)

Original effects[edit]

"They cannot be Tributed by your opponent." and "They can not be returned to their controller's hand." effects of the original Gods are seen in what episodes (or chapters)? GianDBO (talkcontribs) 20:07, December 28, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know about bouncing, but in the manga, Marik claims that the effect of Soul Taker can't affect Ra. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 21:18, December 28, 2014 (UTC)

Ra (original) effects[edit]

In the effect of "The Winged Dragon of Ra", in the effect: "The Duelist Can pay 1000 Life Points to destroy all enemy monsters. Alternatively if the Duelist has Special Summoned "Ra" as "Egyptian God Phoenix" by paying 1000 Life Points any monster "Ra" attacks is automatically destroyed by this effect without applying damage calculation. When this effect is activated the enemy monsters effects that prevent their destruction are negated." the part that says :"When this effect is activated the enemy monsters effects that prevent their destruction are negated." is taken from what episode/chapter? GianDBO (talkcontribs) 13:10, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

This is the simplest way to state that its effects affect Obelisk and Slifer. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 19:54, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

New weakness to add.[edit]

Just to add to the weaknesses - the continuous trap card 'mask of restrict' blocks card being able to be tribute completely. Just a quick change to make, that might help the newbies out there trying to defeat these monsters. Would have made the edit myself but didn't have the option too. --Jackalmighty (talkcontribs) 20:07, January 19, 2015 (UTC)

Dimension Magic[edit]

In the French manga (where effects are translated directly from the Japanese version, not replaced with TCG effects like in the English version), it is explained that Dimension Magic does not destroy a monster, but allows both Spellcasters to attack together at the same time. So, The Winged Dragon of Ra was destroyed because Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl attacked with a combined attack. {{SUBST:SCaps|Yamimillenium}} - {{SUBST:SCaps|Me Contacter}} 11:14, October 25, 2015 (UTC)

Except that does't really specify anything; that "attack" didn't really have any ATK. Scheepybird (talkcontribs) 22:39, January 9, 2016 (UTC)

Another Inconsistency[edit]

In DSOD, Obelisk's effect cannot have been negated by "Cubic Mandala". Since this is manga canon, it has its manga effects. However, during the Tournament Finals arc, we see that Obelisk would have been destroyed by "Sacrifice Blast" as the latter negates its effects, but now we see that they can't be negated.... (I know Kazuki Takahashi did state that he forgot what he wrote in the manga when writing DSOD, but that's an out-of universe explanation; we'll need an in-universe one.) Scheepybird (talkcontribs) 17:16, July 16, 2017 (UTC)

That's wanky in several ways. The Wicked Gods at least CAN have their effects negated, but it's not even actually stated that Blast Held by a Tribute negates effects. Given the visual representation, I feel the most accurate way to describe Blast Held by a Tribute is that it gives the monster an effect to self-destruct, which I THINK (I need to check) is alluded to once in the manga. It's also consistent with past defeats of the Gods. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 21:07, July 16, 2017 (UTC)
