Rename to "Meteor Black Dragon"?

About this card's name: wouldn't it be better to rename it to just "Meteor Black Dragon"? I get that it's to distinguish it from the original, but honestly the current "Ryuuseiryuu Meteo Black Dragon" just sounds awkward. I don't think there'd be an issue with the original: its name is "Meteor B. Dragon", so the new name would be different enough to distinguish them. The current name is "Ryuuseiryuu Meteo Black Dragon" is just the romanization of Japanese name and is a temporary/placeholder name while the guys in YGOrg finally decided how to call it. --Blackwings0605 (talk) 08:05, June 25, 2016 (UTC)

• "Meteor Black Dragon" - It and "Meteor B. Dragon" are technically different names, but I think they're too similar. I can't imagine Konami giving two cards a shorthand and non-shorthand version of the same name to sidestep a nomenclature issue.
• "Ryuuseiryuu Meteo Black Dragon" - Same issue as with the recent "Houkai" archetype. Almost every official romanised Japanese name does not indicate long vowels. "Yugi Muto", not "Yuugi Mutou". "Yusei Fudo", not "Yuusei Fudou". (Granted there are a few exceptions.) If we're to use this name, I think it should be "Ryuseiryu Meteor Black Dragon".
• "Falling Meteor Black Dragon" - Why is "Falling" being suggested?

Just checking, but the "Ryusei" in its name isn't the name as the one in the names of the "Yang Zing" cards is it? Sanokal K-T (talk • contribs) 01:54, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

@Sanokal: Yes. It uses "流星" for Ryusei instead of "竜星" in Yang Zing.

@Deltaneos: I don't see why you have problem with "Falling" here, it is the literal meaning of "流", completely fit with the card artwork and as User:XBrain130 proposed, follows the trend of localization Konami use for recurring theme with similar name structure. Personally, I think "Falling Meteor Black Dragon" is great attempt of localization and I'm not surprised that It may end up being the official English name of this card (Or "Falling Meteor B. Dragon" in case Konami still have the issue with the word "Black"). --Blackwings0605 (talk) 06:33, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

I didn't say I had a problem with it. I just didn't know why it was being suggested. I understand now.

流 = "falling", 星 = "star", 流星 = "falling star" = "meteor".

Although doesn't make the name kind of redundant? "Falling Meteor Black Dragon" = "Falling Falling Star Black Dragon". (But I suppose the same could be said for the Japanese name.)

To be clear, Ryuuseiryuu won't be part of the article name and is a placeholder. It will definitely be moved from that title. Houkai was the same deal - it was never meant to be a localization attempt, which is why the long vowels were kept. We could move it to "Falling", but I would prefer not to in case that's not the name the Org goes with. In any case, I'll put that name for consideration when the Org starts talking names.
