Onomatwopoeia and Onomatopair[edit]
I'm not sure who translated this card's name into "Onomatwopoeia" (NeoArkadia?), but I don't think it is an appropriate translation. Mainly because Two in japanese is ツー (Tsū). And this card's name does not contains ツー. However, ペア (Pea) can mean Pair, and it is written on top of 連携, something like Cooperation (Two or more things that works together), so I think that my previous translation Onomatopair reflects the pun better. --XBrain130™「X頭脳130」 20:55, October 27, 2013 (UTC)
- The Japanese name is listed under Translated. The page name is just a placeholder until the TCG name is revealed. Simple Guillotine (talk • contribs) 21:03, October 27, 2013 (UTC)
- The reason it's been translated as both is the problematic kanji 連携 which google translate says is "cooperation". I don't know how TRUE it is, but even though we have オノマトペア which directly means onomatopoeia, the kanji adds another meaning on top of that as well. Given that it adds two cards, can be roughly translated as cooperation by google translate, and the fact that it can add 2 vastly different monsters to the hand, I would say that it should be either one of the names they tried to give it, however stupid it sounds, because if the Japanese name has a double meaning, then the english one should as well. - Ok, it's a world like Onomatopoeia. How the heck is anyone supposed to do that? Besides, Google translate is fail as heck, it could also mean "partnership", for all we know, which is similar. Then Onomatopair would make more sense. What they went with was onoma"two"poiea. I'm not saying it's a good translation, I'm saying it's justified. - I also think it should be at "Onomatopair". The reason for the move to "Onomatwopoeia" was
saying "pair" implies 2 of a kind, when this card's effect actually doesn't add 2 of a kind. It also incorporates the pun better.
- The furigana is "ペア". On its own, I don't see how on its own it can be read as anything somewhat relevant, other than "pair". If there's a pun in the Japanese name, that's the pun "poeia"/"pair". Whether it suits the effect or not doesn't the change the fact that it is what's used. If we say it's not actually saying "pair", it's just completing the word, then it's not a pun; it's just sticking kanji for "cooperate" (usually read renkei) under a random part of the word.
- Also, "pair" is not limited to meaning two identical things. Two things working together, i.e. cooperating, fits both the kanji and the effect. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:42, October 29, 2013 (UTC)

- Admittedly, I wouldn't mind it going back to Onomatopair either if enough people take issue with the other. Pairing people up just means grouping 2 people together after all. Aeron Solo wuz here (If you wanna talk) 05:07, October 29, 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that "Onomatwopoeia" looks horrible. I've no objections to going back to "Onomatopair". Cheesedude (talk • contribs) 05:14, October 29, 2013 (UTC)
