Defeat[edit]

How did he lose, if "Lightforce Sword" was going to return the arm of Exodia back to the hand eventually?

Also, in the anime, why did Yami Yugi activate "Chain Destruction" if he would have defeated him otherwise? Scheepybird (talkcontribs) 21:26, October 29, 2015 (UTC)

in order.
Because his life hit Zero. wanna rephrase that?
Symbolic way of Beating Exodia. Also in case he Didn't Lose that turn

His Life Points did not hit 0. In the manga, "Chain Destruction" also destroys the monster on the field. "Right Arm of the Forbidden One" was destroyed, so it would not return to his hand. Dark Yugi told him that without it, he had no way to win. And he pretty much agreed. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:33, October 29, 2015 (UTC)
He was asking "In the Anime"
in the manga, yeah game over the instant he lost the Arms and surrendered.

In the anime, he still had to kill all of one piece using the Chain, it's not like he had anything else to do it with. The Hunter still had another Head in his hand. He also needed to clear a path to his opponent's Life Points. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 23:55, October 29, 2015 (UTC)

But it says on the manga card that it doesn't destroy the monster on the field. And Chain Destruction did destroy both the copies in his hand AND deck. Scheepybird (talkcontribs) 20:21, October 30, 2015 (UTC)

The English manga often uses the text from the real world card, instead of translating what was used in Japanese manga, even when it is not how the card worked in the manga. "This monster is not destroyed." was not part of the Japanese card text. Although the Japanese manga text didn't explicitly say that the monster on the field is destroyed either. But old manga card texts are often vague, incomplete or lacking clarity. Dark Yugi said himself that the monster on the field gets destroyed and we see a picture of it being blown up. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:20, October 30, 2015 (UTC)
