Scrap Recycler and Scrap-Iron[edit]

Scrap Recycler clearly has the "Scrap" in its name, even in the OCG. How is it simply "Related" and not part of the archetype itself? Even if it doesn't support other Scrap monsters, neither do many monsters in Archetypes. Morphtronic Magnen Bar anyone? Further, why are Scrap-Irons not even in the "Related" section? Burnpsy 21:49, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

Scrap-Irons have くずてつの in their OCG names, Scraps have スクラップ, and they're not even pronounced the same "Sukurappu" vs. "Kuzutetsu" though I believe that the tetsu part means metal, the point still stands that they're not meant to be the same. --Blackstone Dresden 05:08, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

Scrap Recycler is clearly not actually a scrap monster. It's Japanese name is different and it doesn't even work with a single scrap monster. ~ --Nintenderek17 (talkcontribs) 04:06, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Annoyance[edit]

The person who wrote this article is not only incorrectly biased, but should never write an article for any other archetypes that may pop up or for any existing articles. I would correct the article myself, but it's just not worth it.

weakness[edit]

do scraps have a weakness i mean i thought using scrap rage was smart but the scraps all say "scrap card" meaning that even siding that in will trigger their effect... please comment if you have any weaknesses for the scraps

No idea what you're talking about. Scrap Rage is sort of a lame card. The best way to kill scraps is to get a remove from play or Royal Oppression card going before the dragons and pray it doesn't get MSTed first. Skill Drain also works, but also hurts you more in most cases and doesn't negate the scrap recycling system as well. The awesome thing about scraps is that they dodge all the anti-chaos cards out there by being earth.

AFAIK one of the Scraps' most pointed weaknesses is that the archetype itself has very limited means of countering a good Monarch deck. For one thing the monarchs are not particularly spell/trap dependent so Scrap Crash/the Naturias are not particularly effective against them. For another some of the monarchs like Caius, Raiza and Delg have effects that can cripple Scrap decks. Several of the more common ways to produce or recycle monarch tributes can cripple a Scrap deck or are mostly unaffected by its effects, since these are usually activated outside the field (ex. Soul Exchange counters scrap dragons, Treeborn Frog, DD. Plane/Survivor + Macro Cosmos/Dimensional Fissure, etc). Gorz and Tragoedia, both staples in monarch decks, are easier to summon thanks to the effects of Scrap monsters and monarch decks that have spells/traps that allow them to take control of enemy monsters can "steal" the scrap dragons, allowing your opponent to cripple you with your own monster's effect while giving them the perfect tribute for their monarchs. 67.247.48.163 (talk) 17:45, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Why are so many cards being deleted in the Other Cards section?[edit]

Are people really that stuck on metagame cards that they don't even want to consider anything else?

Also, answering the weakness question, there are two distinct weaknesses of the Scrap archetype. One is if your opponent uses an effect that removes a monster from the field without destroying it. These have become more common lately with the addition of Gishki and Steelswarm. The second weakness is that the liberal use of effects to destroy your own monsters, Scrapstorm in particular, often leaves your field wide open for a direct attack and potentially an OTK, so you have to account for that. There are of course Royal Oppresion and Bottomless Trap Hole/Dimensional Prison, but this is rather a common weakness for all Synchro Decks and not just Scrap in particular. 78.60.146.207 (talk) 11:55, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

Dark Coffin[edit]

I'm not familiar with the restrictions on using old cards, but Dark Coffin works well with the Scraps from my experience on the Dueling Network. They provide decoy Traps to draw destruction cards from the opponent, and when destroyed with Scrap Dragon or Scrap Twin Dragon its effect triggers. Accordng to the rulings I've read your opponent can't choose one of its two effects if they can't fulfill it, which works well with the Dragon's field control abilities - return their only two monsters to their hand and force them to discard one, nuke their lone monster and discard one, or get a free monster destruction if they have no hand. Call of the Haunted also works well, reviving any Scrap you need and then once you use it for a Synchro you have a dead card for either the Synchro effects. Are You Scrap or are you Machine?!![edit]

What about the introduction of DNA Surgery to a Scrap or even T.G. deck or as part of the side deck? These are the monsters of metal- let them rev it up!

This also introduces a counter to Rivalry of Warlords and allows for monsters to be destroyed for their effects with Limiter Removal.

Animaniac0024 (talkcontribs) 07:37, October 6, 2015 (UTC)

Just because they look like Machines doesn't mean they are Machines. Limiter Removal and DNA Surgery are pretty much wasted deck slots, and Rivalry of Warlords even more so, as the Scrap monsters' effects are activated when they're destroyed by other Scrap cards.
