Stone Giant: CARD or TOKEN?[edit]

  • During Episode 187 in both English & Japanese versions, Solomon Muto specifically states he is Summoning Tokens after activating his "Ancient Key". He is never shown to actually play the "Stone Giant" cards he was supposedly holding in his hand (or retrieved from his deck thanks to "Ancient Key"): the monsters simply appear as holograms on the Dueling Arena. (NOTE: this in itself does not really constitute any proof however, as the same method is used throughout the entire anime series for real cards which the player must "look for" in his Deck thanks to other card effects).
  • Yet in Episode 188, Professor Hawkins shows Yugi & his friends the cards needed to unlock "Ancient Dragon" and a "Stone Giant" card is clearly displayed on screen. But is it a real playable card?
    • In the English version, Professor Hawkins says: "in fact, [Yugi's] grandfather is the only duelist I know who possesses all seven cards needed to call forth this divine creature".
    • In the same scene in the Japanese version, Professor Hawkins says: "(...) if you don't have all of "Ancient Gate", "Ancient Key", "Ancient Tome", "Ancient Giant", and two "Stone Giant" Tokens, you cannot Summon "Ancient Dragon"".

So if the card physically exists, why call it a token? Does it just so happen the card is called "Stone Giant Token" in Japanese? Then why not omit the confusion and simply call it "Stone Giant"?
