Rewrite[edit]

I feel like the "commonalities" section of this article should be rewritten. It repeats itself a lot, and has a lot of unnecessary content presented in a confusing manner.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 12:59, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

I've rephrased it a bit to make it less confusing. However, the section should repeat itself; the second set of commonalities is a subset of the first, so it should be similar to it. As for unnecessary, series pages should always describe the commonalities of the series, as that is the whole point of having the series page. You could argue that the second set of commonalities is unnecessary, but I think it's the set that most people wold commonly associate with the series (because "Planet Pollutant Virus" and "Rust Machine Virus of Acid" aren't that well known).--SnorlaxMonster 13:24, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
I feel like "Rust Machine Virus of Acid" takes less priority, what with it being an anime-only card and the "Virus" series being more associated with the main 3, so essentially the different sets are only there to highlight the differences between the main 3 and "Planet Pollutant Virus". Rather than having 2 sets, it would be less confusing to have 1 set with a note that "Planet Pollutant Virus" (and if you really want, "Rust Machine Virus of Acid") are exceptions, or 1 set with notes stating the most common trends among the cards. I was thinking of something like this:
All members of the series have the following properties in common:
  • They are Normal Trap Cards.
  • The activation cost is tributing a monster that meets a certain restriction (usually DARK of a certain ATK value).
  • Upon resolution, it destroys opponent's cards that meet a certain condition (usually on the field and in their hand).
  • Until the opponent's 3rd turn after it was activated, its Lingering Effect has a negative effect on the opponent (usually destroying all cards they draw that meet the condition).
But I'm feeling finicky about it.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 13:35, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I think one set with notes works (like in the example you gave). I'd rather keep the note about the exception to the Normal Trap Card rule though. --SnorlaxMonster 15:19, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 16:32, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Related Monsters[edit]

The "Three Dark Kings", to call them somehow, released originally in the Japanese Structure Deck "Curse of Darkness" are related or based on the 3 Main Virus Cards.

Shouldn't they be related to the Virus series? What do you think? Kentaru Z (talkcontribs) 17:58, March 18, 2015 (UTC)
