Direct attack?

"Yugi states during this episode that with no monsters on his side of the field, Mai is free to attack his Life Points directly. However, this rule was not established in the anime until the start of the Battle City tournament."

While this is true, there must be an unknown rule, the viewer doesn´t know in case a player refuses to set cards on the field for several turns. Otherwise it would have been impossible for Yugi´s grandfather to lose against Kaiba with Exodia in his deck.--As90 (talk • contribs) 13:09, February 22, 2015 (UTC)

Just because they can't attack directly doesn't mean they can't deal Battle Damage by defeating their opponent's monsters. We don't know how the duel went but Solomon's old age might've affected how he duels, especially with his Blue-Eyes White Dragon on the line. Or Solomon could've just had bad luck with his monsters and Kaiba found ways to bring them to Attack Mode like with Stop Defense.--MasterMarik (talk • contribs) 13:59, February 22, 2015 (UTC)
