Pagename[edit]

Which pagename format do people prefer; <series> - <item> <number> or <name>? i.e. "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's - Ride 001" or "Riding Duelist, Yusei"? Same with other pages; "Yu-Gi-Oh! - Episode 001" or "Heart of the Cards"? I prefer the latter, as it's its name, rather than what it is. Although I can see how people would prefer the former, since more people recognise episodes/chapters/volumes by their number rather than their name. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:16, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

The first one makes it easier to find for most people. --Bluedog (Talk) 21:04, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
They could still be redirected. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:40, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Then let's just keep this one the way it is, unless anybody else says otherwise. --Bluedog (Talk) 22:01, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I say we change it to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's - Ride 001 because it fits with every other form of anime/manga on this wiki --75.104.172.255 00:54, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
I was asking about naming those type of pages in general, not just this one. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:22, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
Well the current system saves us from having to move pages every time a new episode/chapter gets translated and we can still redirect the translated Japanese and English names. The current system seems to be the most practical one but maybe we could check out some other anime wikis and see if there's a general consensus to follow to make this wiki more user friendly to other users that frequent multiple anime/manga wikis. --75.104.172.255 02:49, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
Sorry this is over a month late.
Laziness shouldn't be what determines how we name pages. And renaming episode and chapter pages is a lot less work than renaming card pages and card pages. And renaming episode/chapter/volume pages would have to be done much less often (aside from renaming all the currect ones.) We wouldn't have much to do fix after moving the page. Almsot everywhere that refers to the episode/chapter by name uses SMW to pull whatever we have set as its English name.
As for other anime wikis... we are a seperate wiki, we don't have to follow what they do. But looking at them anyway... Narutopedia, Soul Eater, Death Note, Haruhi, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, .hack, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Digimon, Pokémon, Transformers name episodes (and chapters) by name rather then number. Many other non-animanga wikis also name episode articles by the episode name. So far Bulbapedia is the only I've found that names them acording to number. We do have more in common with Narutopedia and the Soul Eater Wiki though. We're all part of Wikia ACG, use similiar infoboxes and SMW on episode/chapter pages. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:42, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
