0X[edit]
- If "Endymion, the Master Magician" Special Summons itself from the hand or Graveyard by removing six Spell Counters from "Magical Citadel of Endymion", then "Thunder King Rai-Oh"/"Black Horn of Heaven"/etc can negate the Special Summon of and destroy "Endymion, the Master Magician".
- The activation of a Spell Card, as mentioned in the text of card like "Magical Citadel of Endymion" or "Skilled White Magician", is when you play it face-up from your hand, or when the Spell Card is Set and you flip it face-up. It does not include activating the effect of a Spell card which is already face-up on the field, such as when you activate the effect of "Wave-Motion Cannon" or "Inspection". Cards like "Skilled White Magician" will not gain a Spell Counter when you activate the effect of a Spell Card like "Wave-Motion Cannon".
- If the activation of "Spell Power Grasp" is negated by "Magic Jammer" etc, then another "Spell Power Grasp" can be activated.
- "Magical Citadel of Endymion" will gain Spell Counters if a card on the the opponent's field is destroyed while that card has Spell Counters on it.
8205: Does the effect of "Spell Power Grasp" target?
- The effect of "Spell Power Grasp" targets the card which will gain a Spell Counter. You select the card when you activate "Spell Power Grasp".
- When a card with Spell Counters is destroyed, the effect of "Magical Citadel of Endymion" must already be active for "Magical Citadel of Endymion" to gain Spell Counters. Because of this, if you control "Magical Citadel of Endymion" with Spell Counters and your opponent activates another "Magical Citadel of Endymion", then your copy will be destroyed, but your opponent's copy will not gain the Spell Counters on your copy.
- The effects of "Skilled Dark Magician" and "Skilled White Magician" are not activated by removing Spell Counters, so you cannot remove the Spell Counters from "Magical Citadel of Endymion" instead, regardless of the number of Spell Counters on "Skilled White Magician".
- When you use the Spell Counter-substituting effect of "Magical Citadel of Endymion" to activate an effect, all of the Spell Counters to be removed must be removed from "Magical Citadel of Endymion". When you activate the effect of "Royal Magical Library", you must remove all three Spell Counters from "Magical Citadel of Endymion" if you are using the effect. (You cannot remove one Spell Counter from "Royal Magical Library" and two from "Magical Citadel of Endymion", etc.)
- When applying the effect of "Defender, the Magical Knight", you do not choose how many Spell Counters to remove - you must remove a number of Spell Counters equal to the number of Spellcaster-Type monsters which will be destroyed.
- Example: You control "Defender, the Magical Knight" and two other face-up Spellcaster-Type monsters. When your opponent activates "Lightning Vortex", if you want to use the effect of "Defender, the Magical Knight", then you must remove three Spell Counters. (You cannot remove two Spell Counters to prevent the destruction of only two Spellcaster-Type monsters.) If you do not have three Spell Counters, then you cannot apply the effect of "Defender, the Magical Knight".
1X[edit]
- When a Spellcaster-Type monster is destroyed by battle, if you apply the effect of "Defender, the Magical Knight", then you apply the effect and select the Spell Counter at Damage Calculation. The chosen Spell Counter is removed from the field at the end of the Damage Step, when the mosnter would be sent from the field to the Graveyard.
- When a card like "Breaker the Magical Warrior" or "Magical Marionette" has no Spell Counters on it, you can activate its effect and remove the Spell Counter(s) from "Magical Citadel of Endymion" instead.
8212: When "Defender, the Magical Knight" is destroyed, can you instead remove a Spell Counter?
- "Defender, the Magical Knight" is a Spellcaster-Type monster, so if "Defender, the Magical Knight" would be destroyed, you can apply its effect and instead remove a Spell Counter.
- You can only apply the effect "If this card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card instead." of "Magical Citadel of Endymion" when "Magical Citadel of Endymion" would be destroyed by a card effect. You cannot apply this effect when you control "Magical Citadel of Endymion" and your opponent activates a new Field Spell Card.
8214: Effect Monster > Archlord Kristya
- This is a Normal Summon Monster.
- The effect which adds a Fairy-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand targets one Fairy-Type monster in your Graveyard.
- If "Archlord Kristya" is destroyed by battle with "Dark Magician of Chaos", then "Archlord Kristya" is not returned to the Deck and is removed from play.
- The effect of "Grave Protector" has the monster shuffled into the Deck when it is destroyed by battle. While this effect is active, the effect "If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, it is returned to the top of its owner's Deck instead." of "Archlord Kristya" is not applied because "Archlord Kristya" would not be sent to the Graveyard. "Archlord Kristya" will be shuffled into the Deck when it is desroyed by battle.
- "Archlord Kristya" will return to the top of the Deck if it is to be sent to the Graveyard while "Archlord Kristya" is being treated as an Equip Card and equipped to "Relinquished"/"Destiny Hero - Plasma"/etc.
8218: When a face-down "Archlord Kristya" is sent to the Graveyard, does it return to the top of the Deck?
- If "Archlord Kristya" is sent to the Graveyard while face-down on the field, then it cannot return to the top of the Deck.
- If a face-up "Archlord Kristya" is sent from the field to the Graveyard while "Skill Drain" is active, then it is not returned to the top of the Deck, and is sent to the Graveyard instead.
2X[edit]
- If "Macro Cosmos" is active when "Archlord Kristya" is sent from the field to the Graveyard, then "Archlord Kristya" is returned to the top of the Deck and not removed from play.
8221: Is "Archlord Kristya" a Special Summon Monster?
- "Archlord Kristya" is a Normal Summon Monster. It may be Tribute Summoned and Tribute Set. It may be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with "Monster Reborn" etc even if it was sent directly to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck.
- The Original ATK and DEF of the "Emissary of Darkness Token" Special Summon by "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness" is "?", so it will be treated as "0" when interacting with "Shrink" and "Megamorph". Both will make the ATK of the "Emissary of Darkness Token" become 0. When the effect of "Shrink" is no longer applied, the "Emissary of Darkness Token" will have 0 ATK. When the effect of "Megamorph" is no longer applied, the ATK of "Emissary of Darkness Token" will return to what it was when "Emissary of Darkness Token" was Summoned.
- If "Dark End Dragon" has its ATK/DEF halved by the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", then "Dark End Dragon" can still activate its effect. The effect will resolve properly, and "Dark End Dragon" will lose 500 ATK/DEF and the opponent's card will be sent to the Graveyard.
- On the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" targeting a monster whose ATK/DEF changes by its effect:
- When the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" targets "Tragoedia", the ATK/DEF of "Tragoedia" will remain at the halved value, even if the number of cards in the hand changes.
- When the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" targets "Gren Maju Da Eiza", the ATK/DEF of "Gren Maju Da Eiza" will remain at the halved value, even if the number of cards removed from play changes.
- When the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" targets "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames", the ATK/DEF of "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames" will remain at the halved value, even if the number of Continuous Trap Cards in the Graveyard changes.
- When the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" targets "Arcanite Magician", the ATK of "Arcanite Magician" will remain at the halved value, even if the number of Spell Counters changes.
- If "Sangan"/"Goblin Zombie"/etc are used for a Synchro Summon, then their effects are mandatory, and must activate as soon as the Synchro Summon is successful.
- If "Goblin Zombie"/etc is used for the Synchro Summon" of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier", then you cannot activate the Ignition Effect of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" before the effect of "Goblin Zombie"/etc activates. Moreover, you cannot activate the Ignition Effect of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" in chain to the effect of "Goblin Zombie"/etc.
- If "Goblin Zombie"/etc is used for the Synchro Summon" of a monster with a mandatory Trigger Effect like "Mist Wurm", then both effects activate simultaneously. They activate in the order that the player chooses, and then you resolve in reverse order.
- If "Goblin Zombie"/etc is used for the Synchro Summon" of a monster with an optional Trigger Effect like "Black Rose Dragon", then the mandatory effect of "Goblin Zombie" must activate as Chain Link 1 and the effect of "Black Rose Dragon" may be activated as Chain Link 2.
- When "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" activates its effect and targets multiple Spell/Trap Cards, if an effect is chained that removes one of the card targeted cards, then the remaining cards on the field are returned to the hand.
- When the Turn Player Sets a Spell/Trap/Monster Card by the effect of "Book of Moon"/"The Shallow Grave"/etc or from the hand, he may not use Priority to activate the Ignition Effect of a monster. If the Turn Player does not use Priority to activate an Ignition or a Spell Speed 2+ Effect in response to the Set, then the opponent can activate a Spell Speed 2+ Effect in response to the Set. Also, the Turn Player cannot Set multiple cards simultaneously - he must Set one, then pass Priority, and then Set the second, etc.
8228: [Priority] Please explain what the players may do at the beginning of the Main Phase.
- At the start of the Main Phase, the Turn Player can act first. Before the opponent can respond, the Turn Player may:
- Normal Summon/Special Summon/Flip Summon/Set a monster
- Set a card from the hand
- Activate a Spell Speed 1 card (Normal Spell Cards, etc) or effect (Ignition Effects, etc)
- Activate a Spell Speed 2 card (Quick-Play Spell Cards, etc) or effect (Quick Effects, etc)
- The opponent may not activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect until the Turn Player passes Priority.
8229: [Priority] Please explain what the players may do at the beginning of the Battle Step.
- At the start of the Battle Step, the Turn Player can act first. Before the opponent can respond, the Turn Player may attack with a monster, or activate a Spell Speed 2 card (Quick-Play Spell Cards, etc) or effect (Quick Effects, etc). The opponent may not activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect until the Turn Player passes Priority.
3X[edit]
- At the time of a monster changing control due to a card effect like "Brain Control" or "Creature Swap, the Turn Player may use Priority to activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect. Also, Trigger Effects that activate upon a monster changing control will activate. The Turn Player cannot use Priority to Tribute that monster for a Tribute Summon or Tribute Set, nor to activate an Ignition Effect, nor to activate a Normal Spell Card.
- At the time of "Destiny Hero - Malicious" being sent to the Graveyard by the effect of "Foolish Burial"/"Armageddon Knight"/etc, the Turn Player cannot use Priority to activate the Ignition Effect of "Destiny Hero - Malicious". If the Turn Player passes Priority and does not activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect, then the opponent can activate the effect of "D.D. Crow" before the Turn Player can activate the effect of "Destiny Hero - Malicious".
- At the time of a card being added to the hand by "Magician of Faith" or "Reinforcement of the Army", the Turn Player cannot immediately activate a Normal Spell Card or Normal Summon a monster. If the Turn Player passes Priority and does not activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect, then the Turn Player can activate the Normal Spell Card/Normal Summom only after the opponent passes Priority.
