A: When declaring a card name, you cannot declare "A Legendary Ocean" or "Lemuria, the Forgotten City". Both "A Legendary Ocean" and "Lemuria, the Forgotten City" have the text "(This card is always treated as "Umi".)" Their card names (original card names) will always be treated as "Umi" during a Duel.
Therefore, if you declared "Umi" when activating "Crossout Designator", you can banish any card among "Umi", "A Legendary Ocean", "Lemuria, the Forgotten City", etc. Regardless of which one you banished, all cards with the original name "Umi" including "A Legendary Ocean", "Lemuria, the Forgotten City", etc. will have their effects negated by "Crossout Designator".
Furthermore, "Cyber Harpie Lady" and "Harpie Lady 1" will be declared as "Harpie Lady".
The same applies to the following cards that declare card names:
- "Akashic Magician"
- "Alsei, the Sylvan High Protector"
- "Archfiend's Oath"
- "Dirge of the Lost Dragon"
- "Engraver of the Mark"
- "Exosister Carpedivem"
- "Gishki Diviner"
- "Gravekeeper's Trap"
- "Lullaby of Obedience"
- "Ma'at"
- "Mind Crush"
- "Prohibition"
- "Psi-Blocker"
- "Sales Ban"
- "The Suppression Pluto"
- "The True Name"[1][2]
A: Even if the Continuous Effect of your opponent's "Evilswarm Ophion" is applying, preventing players from Special Summoning Level 5 or higher monsters, you can Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" from your hand with its own effect.[3][2]
A: When the activation is negated or when the activated effect is negated, you will still perform your normal draw. If an effect such as "Mistake" is applied, or if there are no Ritual Spells in your Deck when the effect resolves, you cannot add a Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand and you also cannot perform your normal draw.
The resolution of this effect is what prevents you from performing your normal draw. Therefore, when the activation is negated or when the activated effect is negated, you will still perform your normal draw. However, if an effect such as "Mistake" is applied, or if there are no Ritual Spells in your Deck when the effect resolves, the effect resolves by making you unable to perform your normal draw.
For the following other cards, if the activation or the activated effect are negated, you still perform your normal draw, but if the activation or activated effect were not negated but the effect could not be performed, you do not perform your normal draw:
- "Dark General Freed"
- "Flying Saucer Muusik'i"
- "Freed the Matchless General"
- "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru"
- "Magical Blast"
- "Meteor Flare"
- "Skull Flame"
- "Spirit Burner"[4][2]
A: Yes, you can. The effect of "Tearlaments Perlegia" prevents you from activating the effects of the monster it sends to the GY, and the effects of monsters with the same name. Since the first effect of "King of the Swamp" is not an effect that activates, it can be applied even during the turn it was sent to the GY by the effect of "Tearlaments Perlegia". ("King of the Swamp" can be treated as "Tearlaments Kitkallos" for the Fusion Summon of "Tearlaments Rulkallos", regardless of whether it is used from your hand or field as Fusion Material this turn, or if returned from the GY to the Deck as Fusion Material using the effect of a "Tearlaments" monster.)[5][2]
A: In this situation, you can still activate "Blackbird Close" from your hand, but you cannot use "Blackwing Armed Wing" as the cost.Even if a monster is determined to be destroyed by battle during damage calculation, that monster does not leave the field at that time, and is destroyed and leaves the field at the end of the Damage Step. It remains on the field as a monster that has been determined to be destroyed by battle after damage calculation. However, a monster that has been determined to be destroyed by battle cannot be used as a cost for an optional effect.
Therefore, after damage calculation, the condition of controlling a "Blackwing" Synchro Monster is met, but it cannot be used as the activation cost.[6][2]
A: Yes, you can.[7][2]
A: Neither can be used. The effect of "Tellarknight Constellar Caduceus" is one that applies the resolution of another card effect. Therefore, even if it was activated by banishing "Tellarknight Lyra", it is not treated as an effect that includes adding a card from the Deck to the hand. Similarly, even if you banish "Tellarknight Altea", it is not treated as an effect that would destroy a card on the field.[8][2]
A: No, it cannot.[9][2]
A: No, it cannot. (The effect of "Time-Rending Morganite" "● Draw 2 cards instead of 1 for your normal draw during your Draw Phase." is one that changes the number of cards you draw for your normal draw. It is not considered an effect that adds cards from the Deck to the hand.)[10][2]
A: You can declare:- "Gunkan Suship Ikura" (listed in the text of "Gunkan Suship Ikura-class Dreadnought")
- "Gunkan Suship Uni" (listed in the text of "Gunkan Suship Uni-class Super-Dreadnought")
- "Gunkan Suship Shirauo" (listed in the text of "Gunkan Suship Shirauo-class Carrier")
The "Gunkan" Xyz Monster your opponent reveals does not affect which "Gunkan" monster's name you can declare. Furthermore, the effect of "Gunkan Suship Chef's Choice" states that you cannot declare "Gunkan Suship Shari". Additionally, there are no "Gunkan" Xyz Monsters that list "Gunkan Suship Shari Red", "Gunkan Suship Ikura-class Dreadnought", "Gunkan Suship Uni-class Super-Dreadnought", or "Gunkan Suship Shirauo-class Carrier" in their text, so their names cannot be declared either.[11][2]
  • Q: "Expurrely Happiness" and "Expurrely Noir" each have a "Purrely Sleepy Memory" as material, which grants them each the effect "● Once per turn, during your opponent's Standby Phase: You can draw 1 card." During my opponent's Standby Phase, how will each effect be activated and resolved?
A: You can activate the effect of either one as Chain Link 1, and draw a card. Afterward, you can activate the other monster's effect as Chain Link 1, and draw another card. (These effects cannot be activated on the same Chain.)[12][2]
  • Q: "Expurrely Happiness" has 2 copies of "Purrely Sleepy Memory" as materials, which each grant it the effect "● Once per turn, during your opponent's Standby Phase: You can draw 1 card." During my opponent's Standby Phase, how will each effect be activated and resolved?
A: Since "Expurrely Happiness" has gained the same "●" effect twice, you can activate that effect up to 2 times during your opponent's Standby Phase. If you activate it twice, the first one will be activated as Chain Link 1, and you draw a card. Afterward, the second one will be activated as Chain Link 1, and you draw another card. (These effects cannot be activated on the same Chain.)[13][2]
  • Q: I have 2 "Therion" monsters in my Monster Zones, each of which is equipped with a Therion "Reaper" Fum. Due to the last effect of the equipped Therion "Reaper" Fum, the 2 monsters in the Monster Zone each gain the second effect listed on Therion "Reaper" Fum. Can I activate the effects of each monster gained from Therion "Reaper" Fum during the same turn?
A: Only one of their effects can be activated. Whether it is the effect of Therion "Reaper" Fum being activated, or the effect of another "Therion" monster equipped with Therion "Reaper" Fum being activated, the activation corresponds to "using the effect of Therion "Reaper" Fum". As written in its text, the second effect of Therion "Reaper" Fum can only be used once per turn, so 2 or more monsters that have each gained the effect of Therion "Reaper" Fum cannot activate that effect during the same turn.Even if one of the following cards gains or adds an effect to another card, you must activate and apply the effect while obeying the text of the original card stating "you can only use the effect of [this card name] once per turn".
- Blackwing - Aurora the Northern Lights
- Charlemagne
- CXyz Barian Hope
- Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste
- Elemental HERO Divine Neos
- Gem-Knight Master Diamond
- Hundred Eyes Dragon
- Legendary Knight Hermos
- Majestic Star Dragon
- Masterflare Hyperion
- Neo-Spacian Dark Panther
- Number 68: Heraldry Crest
- Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage
- Odd-Eyes Venom Dragon
- One-Eyed Skill Gainer
- Phantom of Chaos
- Pseudo Space
- Starving Venemy Dragon
- "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon"
- Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom
- Symphonic Warrior Synthess
- The Tyrant Neptune
- Therion "Bull" Ain
- Therion "Duke" Yul
- Therion "King" Regulus
- Therion "Lily" Borea
- Windwitch - Crystal Bell[14]
  • Q: My opponent activated Big Welcome Labrynth during the Main Phase of a turn in which I activated the effect of Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood. When resolving the effect, they Special Summon Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle, then return that same Special Summoned monster to their hand. In this case, do I gain LP?
A: You do not gain LP. When your opponent activates a card effect, if the Special Summoned monster is face-up in the Monster Zone when that effect finishes resolving, you will gain LP equal to that monster's ATK.[15]
  • Q: When performing a Ritual Summon with the effects of Super Soldier Synthesis or Advanced Ritual Art, can I apply the second effect of Emperor Tanuki's Critter Count?
A: Ritual Summons performed by the effect of Super Soldier Synthesis or Advanced Ritual Art do not Tribute monsters, so you cannot apply the effect of Emperor Tanuki's Critter Count instead of Tributing.[16]
  • Q: When the second effect of Purrely Lily resolves, if the targeted "Purrely" Quick-Play Spell is no longer in the GY, how does the effect resolve?
A: No part of the effect is applied. When the activated effect of Purrely Lily resolves, check the targeted card's name and Special Summon an Xyz Monster that mentions that name in its text. If the targeted card is no longer there, you cannot apply this effect.[17]
  • Q: When a monster I control is sent to the GY, I activate the effect of Uruka the Magic Star. If that monster is no longer in the GY when the effect of Uruka the Magic Star resolves, how will this effect resolve?
A: In this case, the effect "otherwise Special Summon this banished card" is applied. (This is true even if the monster sent to the GY has been banished by the time the effect resolves.)[18]
  • Q: Can the second effect of Cosmic Quasar Dragon Special Summon a Shooting Quasar Dragon or another Cosmic Quasar Dragon?
A: The second effect of Cosmic Quasar Dragon performs a Special Summon treated as a Synchro Summon, so even monsters that must be Special Summoned by Synchro Summon can be Special Summoned. In addition to Shooting Quasar Dragon, Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon and Cosmic Blazar Dragon fall under this category. However, the second effect of Cosmic Quasar Dragon cannot Special Summon another Cosmic Quasar Dragon. This Special Summon does not require Synchro Materials, so the condition in the text of Cosmic Quasar Dragon for being Special Summoned "Must first be Synchro Summoned with the above Synchro Materials" cannot be fulfilled.[19]
  • Q: Charlemagne becomes equipped with Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles due to its own effect. Afterward, if that Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles becomes unequipped from Charlemagne, what happens to the copied effects?
A: Even in that case, the effects remain.[20]
  • Q: Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles is face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone treated as an Equip Spell. In this situation, if I activate the third effect of The Noble Arms Museum, is the part of the effect that prevents me from Special Summoning monsters other than Warrior monsters for the rest of the turn applied?
A: It is not applied. If Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles is face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone, it means that you control an Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles.[21]
  • Q: The effect of Charlemagne that equips Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles to it has resolved. After that, as a result of equipping Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles, can I activate the effect of Charlemagne (gained from Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles, which destroys a card on the field)?
A: Yes, it can be activated. However, whether it is the effect of Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles being activated, or the effect of Charlemagne that has gained the effects of Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles being activated, the activation corresponds to "using the first effect of Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles", and you must still obey the text "You can only use each effect of "Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles" once per turn".Therefore, the effect gained by Charlemagne cannot be activated during the same turn that Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles has already activated that effect. Also, if Charlemagne has already activated that effect this turn, Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles cannot use its own first effect.[22]
  • Q: A monster such as Cornfield Koator, Mirror Swordsman, Nightmare Magician, or Chimera the Illusion Magical Beast with the effect that prevents either monster being destroyed by battles involving them, and a monster such as Paleozoic Cambroraster which is unaffected by monster effects, battle each other while in Attack Position. If both monsters have the same ATK, or if the ATK of the monster unaffected by monster effects is lower, will that monster be destroyed by battle?
A: The monster is destroyed by battle. The effects of the monsters that prevent either monster being destroyed by battles involving them are effects applied to both battling monsters. Therefore, those effects do not apply to monsters unaffected by monster effects. Furthermore, in order for a monster to not be destroyed by battle, the effect must be applying to it during damage calculation.[23][24]
  • Q: Number 39
Utopia is equipped to Black Ray Lancer due to the effect of Armored Xyz. If the effects of Number 39: Utopia are negated while it is treated as an Equip Card, what happens to the 3 "●" effects it gained from Armored Xyz?
A: If the effects of that Number 39: Utopia are negated while it is treated as an Equip Card, it will still have the 3 "●" effects, but each effect will not be applied. Since the effects it gained from Armored Xyz are not lost as a result of being negated, they will be reapplied if the effects of Number 39: Utopia are no longer negated.[25]
A: No, you cannot. When resolving the effect of "Harmonic Synchro Fusion", you determine which Synchro Monster and which Fusion Monster can be Special Summoned based on the traits (card name, Attribute, Type, Level, ATK, DEF, card text) of the monsters sent to the GY as cost while they are in the GY. The Fusion Material monsters required for "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon" are 2 DARK monsters on the field, so monsters in the GY cannot meet that requirement.[26]
A: Yes, you can.[27]
  • Q: Regarding each effect of Transaction Rollback
A: For the first effect of Transaction Rollback, you can ignore the "You can only activate 1 per turn" and "You can only use the effect once per turn" conditions written on the original Trap Card, and you can ignore any cost required to activate that Trap Card. However, a Trap Card's or effect's other activation requirements need to be met when targeting that Trap Card. (Similarly, you also need to meet the activation requirements of the original Trap Card when activating "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, and Labrynth Barrage.)Similarly, for the second effect of Transaction Rollback, "You can only activate 1 per turn" and "You can only use the effect once per turn" conditions, as well as activation costs, can be ignored. Furthermore, since the second effect of Transaction Rollback is not the activation of a Trap Card, you can ignore the activation conditions of the original Trap Card that apply "the turn you activate this card". However, a Trap Card's or effect's other activation requirements need to be met when targeting that Trap Card. (Similarly, you also need to meet the activation requirements of the original Trap Card when activating the effect of Junk Collector.)
As a general rule, when resolving each effect of Transaction Rollback, the effect resolution part of the targeted Trap Card's text will be applied. However, if there is an action that requires the card to be activated, such as "after this card resolves", the action will be performed if the card Transaction Rollback was activated (in other words, the first effect), but will not be performed if the card Transaction Rollback was not activated (in other words, the second effect).
(A) You can activate it. As mentioned above, "You can only activate 1 per turn" text can be ignored. This is the same whether you are using the first or second effect of Transaction Rollback.
(B) This text is a condition for activating the card Heavy Storm Duster, so it must be fulfilled if it is targeted by the first effect of Transaction Rollback. (Heavy Storm Duster cannot be targeted during the turn you conducted a Battle Phase, and you cannot conduct a Battle Phase during a turn Heavy Storm Duster was targeted.) This condition can be ignored when targeting it with the second effect of Transaction Rollback.
(C) That text is neither a condition for activating the card Giant Starfall nor part of the effect's resolution. Therefore, it is not taken into account when it is targeted by either the first or second effect of Transaction Rollback. (Players can still chain the effects of monsters without Levels to the card or effect activation of Transaction Rollback.)
(D) It cannot be activated. "At the end of the Battle Phase, if your opponent controls more cards than you do" is the condition for activating the effect of Evenly Matched, so it must be met when it is targeted by either the first or second effect of Transaction Rollback.
(E) This text is part of the effect's resolution, but only applies for the rest of the turn after the card was activated. Therefore, if the card Transaction Rollback was activated (meaning it was targeted by the first effect), this part of the effect will be applied. But if the card Transaction Rollback was not activated (meaning it was targeted by the second effect), it will not be applied.[28]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Extinction on Schedule, or activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Extinction on Schedule? Also, can I activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Extinction on Schedule, or activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Extinction on Schedule?
A: If it is either player's Main Phase, you can activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Extinction on Schedule, and you can activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Extinction on Schedule. In that case, at the end of the third Battle Phase after activation, the effect "make both players send all cards they control to the GY" is applied normally. However, you cannot activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Extinction on Schedule, nor activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Extinction on Schedule.[29]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Fuse Line, or activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Fuse Line? Also, can I activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Fuse Line, or activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Fuse Line?
A: If there is another card in the same column, you can activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Fuse Line, and you can activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Fuse Line. (At this time, you must also select the target to be destroyed.)However, Fuse Line is a Normal Trap Card that can only be activated while it is Set in the Spell & Trap Zone, so you cannot activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Fuse Line, nor activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Fuse Line.[30]
  • Q: I activated Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Eradicator Epidemic Virus, which was activated by declaring "Spell". In this case, does the effect of Labrynth Barrage have to destroy Spell Cards? Or is it possible to destroy Trap Cards?
A: You can destroy either Spell or Trap Cards. In the above scenario, when activating Labrynth Barrage, you must declare a card type (Spell or Trap) again. It does not have to be the same card type you declared when activating Eradicator Epidemic Virus in the previous Chain Link. When resolving that Labrynth Barrage, apply the effects of Eradicator Epidemic Virus to the card type you declared when activating Labrynth Barrage.Similarly, when you activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback (as well as its second effect) by targeting Eradicator Epidemic Virus, or when activating the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Eradicator Epidemic Virus, you must declare a card type (Spell or Trap) at activation.[31]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Pharaoh's Treasure? Also, can I activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Pharaoh's Treasure?
A: None of them can be activated in these scenarios. Furthermore, the second effect of Transaction Rollback cannot be activated targeting Pharaoh's Treasure, and the effect of Junk Collector cannot be activated by banishing Pharaoh's Treasure.[32]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Xyz Reborn, or activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Xyz Reborn? Also, can I activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Xyz Reborn, or activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Xyz Reborn?
A: These cards be activated. In that case, when resolving the activated "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, Transaction Rollback, or Labrynth Barrage, it will be attached to the Special Summoned Xyz Monster as an Xyz Material. However, you cannot activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Xyz Reborn, nor activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Xyz Reborn.[33]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Burst Breath? Also, can I activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Burst Breath?
A: None of them can be activated in these scenarios. These are effects that only apply the resolution of the Trap Card's effect at the time the card is activated. The activation conditions written in the Trap Card's text must still be met, but any costs required to activate that Trap Card are not paid.Burst Breath is a Normal Trap Card whose effect resolution is based on the ATK of the monster Tributed for its activation cost. Therefore, "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, Transaction Rollback, and Labrynth Barrage are unable to apply the effect of Burst Breath.
Furthermore, the second effect of Transaction Rollback cannot be activated targeting Burst Breath, and the effect of Junk Collector cannot be activated by banishing Burst Breath.[34]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting a Normal Trap Card that Special Summons itself to the Monster Zone, such as Traptrix Holeutea? Also, can I activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to a Normal Trap Card such as Traptrix Holeutea?
A: None of them can be activated in these scenarios. Furthermore, the second effect of Transaction Rollback cannot be activated targeting Traptrix Holeutea, and the effect of Junk Collector cannot be activated by banishing Traptrix Holeutea.[35]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting a card that becomes an Equip Card when it resolves such as Altergeist Manifestation, or activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to a Normal Trap Card such as Altergeist Manifestation, or activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing a Normal Trap Card such as Altergeist Manifestation?
A: "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, and Transaction Rollback cannot be activated targeting Altergeist Manifestation, and Labrynth Barrage cannot be chained to Altergeist Manifestation. Furthermore, the second effect of Transaction Rollback cannot be activated targeting Altergeist Manifestation, and the effect of Junk Collector cannot be activated by banishing Altergeist Manifestation. Also, since Kunai with Chain can be activated to only apply the effect "When an opponent's monster declares an attack: Target the attacking monster; change that target to Defense Position", you can target it with "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, and Transaction Rollback (as well as its second effect), you can chain Labrynth Barrage to it, and you can activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing it. If you do, only the effect "change that target to Defense Position" is applied. (The effect "equip this card to that target" cannot be applied.)[36]
  • Q: Can I activate "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Transaction Rollback by targeting Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, or activate Labrynth Barrage by chaining it to Scrap-Iron Scarecrow? Also, can I activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, or activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Scrap-Iron Scarecrow?
A: These cards be activated. In that case, "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, Transaction Rollback, and Labrynth Barrage will be Set in the Spell & Trap Zone afterward. However, you cannot activate the second effect of Transaction Rollback by targeting Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, nor activate the effect of Junk Collector by banishing Scrap-Iron Scarecrow.[37][38]
  • Q: If the number of "Crystal Beast" cards in my Spell & Trap Zone is 2 or less when resolving the "● 3+" effect of Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins, how does the effect resolve?
A: Even in this case, the "● 3+" effect is applied. Similarly, even if the activation conditions for the "● 4+" effect and "● 5" effect are no longer met by the time the effect resolves (and Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins is not gaining that effect), the effect is applied normally.[39]
  • Q: Infernoid Attondel (Level 8) and Infernoid Harmadik (Level 3) are face-up in my Monster Zone, and Infernoid Harmadik is unaffected by Spell effects due to another card effect. If the effect of my Void Expansion is applying, can my opponent target Infernoid Harmadik with attacks or card effects?
A: No, they cannot. For the third effect of Void Expansion, the text that prevents your opponent from targeting your "Infernoid" monsters for attacks is an effect that affects your opponent's monsters, and the text that prevents your opponent from targeting them with card effects is an effect that affects your opponent. Neither of these effects are ones that affect the "Infernoid" monsters you control. Therefore, the situation does not change if Infernoid Harmadik is unaffected by Spell effects.[40]
  • Q: I activated the effect of Gouki Destroy Ogre. If control of that Gouki Destroy Ogre has switched to my opponent by the time the effect resolves, what happens?
A: Even in this case, your opponent will Special Summon up to 2 monsters from their GY. Afterward, if there is a usable Main Monster Zone (on your opponent's field) that Gouki Destroy Ogre points to, you Special Summon non-Link "Gouki" monsters from your GY to your opponent's Main Monster Zones. (Even in this case, you can only Special Summon "Gouki" monsters for the rest of this turn.)[41]
  • Q: Regarding the conditions for activating "Labrynth" monsters' effects such as Labrynth Chandraglier and Labrynth Stovie Torbie, which situations are considered a monster leaving the field by my Normal Trap effect?
A: If a card in the Monster Zone is no longer on the field due to the effect of a Normal Trap Card, it means a monster left the field by your Normal Trap effect. This is the case even if a Spell/Trap Card that was Special Summoned as a monster or a Monster Token left the field.Specifically, if a monster is no longer on the field due to an effect that destroys it, banishes it, returns it to the hand, or returns it to the Deck, it means the monster left the field.
As a general rule, when a monster on the field moves to the Spell & Trap Zone, or when a card on the field becomes an Xyz Material for an Xyz Monster, the monster is not treated as leaving the field. However, the effects of monsters such as "Crystal Beast" monsters, Pumprincess the Princess of Ghosts, Dragunity Javelin, and Tiki Soul may place destroyed monsters in the Spell & Trap Zone. In that case, a monster is treated as having left the field.[42]
  • Q: During the same Duel that I activated Sekka's Light and applied its effect, can I activate the third effect of Superheavy Samurai Soulpeacemaker in my Spell & Trap Zone?
A: No, you cannot. If you activated Sekka's Light, the part of the effect that prevents you from activating Spell/Trap effects for the rest of the Duel other than Sekka's Light begins applying immediately once it resolves. The third effect of Superheavy Samurai Soulpeacemaker is treated as the effect of an Equip Spell Card, so it cannot be activated during the dame Duel you already activated Sekka's Light.[43][44]
  • Q: A monster Special Summoned from my hand by the effect of Relay Soul is then placed in my opponent's Spell & Trap Zone as an Equip Spell Card by the effect of their Relinquished Anima. In that case, does the effect of Relay Soul that prevents me from taking damage continue to apply? Also, if that card in the Spell & Trap Zone is then destroyed, does my opponent win the Duel?
A: When the monster Special Summoned by the effect of Relay Soul is no longer in the Monster Zone, the effect that prevents you from taking any damage stops applying. Also, since that card has stopped being treated as a monster without leaving the field, your opponent does not win the Duel. This applies not only when the monster in the Monster Zone becomes an Equip Card, but also if it becomes a Continuous Spell or is placed in the Pendulum Zone. However, the effects of "Crystal Beast" monsters, Pumprincess the Princess of Ghosts, Dragunity Javelin, and Tiki Soul can place destroyed monsters in the Spell & Trap Zone. In that case, that monster is treated as having left the field. (If the monster was Special Summoned by Relay Soul, the opponent wins the Duel.)[45]
  • Q: Can I activate Link into the VRAINS! while there are no monsters in my Monster Zone, and Link Summon a Link-1 monster using only the monster Special Summoned from my hand as material?
A: Yes you can, as long as the Link Monster doesn't have any special conditions for how to Link Summon it.[46]
  • Q: The second effect of Buerillabaisse de Nouvellez is not an effect that performs a Ritual Summon, so why can I Special Summon a "Nouvellez" Ritual Monster with this effect?
A: As a general rule, Ritual Monsters in your hand or Deck cannot be Special Summoned by any method other than a Ritual Summon, but as an exception, they can also be Special Summoned by effects that ignore Summoning conditions. Also, as long as the Ritual Monster does not have any text that restricts how it can be Special Summoned, it can also be Special Summoned by an effect that specifically states it Special Summons a Ritual Monster.(Effects that specifically state they Special Summon Ritual Monsters include Ritual Foregone, Aquamirror Illusion, Buerillabaisse de Nouvellez, Confitras de Nouvellez, Poêlétis de Nouvellez, Foie Glasya de Nouvellez, Balameuniere de Nouvellez, and Baegriller de Nouvellez.)
However, if a Ritual Monster is Special Summoned by any of the above methods, it is not considered properly Special Summoned. (If the Special Summoned monster is sent to the GY or banished face-up, it cannot be Special Summoned again except by Ritual Summon.)[47]
  • Q: When resolving the first effect of Recette de Personnel - Cook's Recipe, what happens if the targeted monster is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone?
A: Even in that case, the Nouvellez Token is Special Summoned. However, since the targeted monster is not face-up in the Monster Zone, its Level cannot be referenced, so the Token's Level does not change.[48]
  • Q: When resolving the effect of Dark Ruler No More, what happens if the effect of Skill Drain is applying and the effects of my opponent's monsters are negated?
A: Dark Ruler No More negates the effects of all face-up Effect Monsters in your opponent's Monster Zones when its effect resolves. However, the effect of Dark Ruler No More will not be applied at that time to monsters whose effects are already negated. Therefore, the effect of Dark Ruler No More is not applied to monsters whose effects are already negated by Skill Drain, but if there is a monster that is unaffected by the effect of Skill Drain (so that its effects are not negated), such as a Link Summoned Traptrix Sera, the effect of Dark Ruler No More is applied to that monster.
Afterward, if the effect of Skill Drain stops applying that turn, monsters whose effects were negated by Skill Drain will have their effects reapplied. If a monster's effects were negated by Dark Ruler No More, its effects remain negated.
Also, as long as neither the activation nor the effect of Dark Ruler No More were negated, your opponent takes no damage for the rest of the turn regardless of the number of monsters whose effects were actually negated when resolving its effect.[49]
  • Q: Can I activate Link into the VRAINS! while there are no monsters in my Monster Zone, and Link Summon a Scareclaw Light-Heart using only a "Scareclaw" monster or Visas Starfrost Special Summoned from my hand as material?
A: No, you cannot.[50]
  • Q: I control a Gunkan Suship Shirauo-class Carrier that has Gunkan Suship Shari Red as an Xyz Material. In this situation, can I activate the first effect of a Gunkan Suship Shirauo in my hand?
A: No, you cannot. The effect of Gunkan Suship Shari Red that treats it as Gunkan Suship Shari is not applied while it is an Xyz Material.[51][52]
  • Q: Magical Musketeer Wild is face-up in my opponent's Monster Zone, and I activate Creature Swap in the same column. When resolving the effect, I place Magical Musketeer Wild in my Main Monster Zone in a different column than that Creature Swap. In this case, can I activate the second effect of Magical Musketeer Wild?
A: Even in this case, since a Spell Card was activated in the same column as Magical Musketeer Wild, you can activate it effect afterward. (You can activate the effect regardless of its placement after it changes control.) Furthermore, if Creature Swap was activated in a different column than Magical Musketeer Wild, its effect could not be activated regardless of its placement after it changes control.[53]
  • Q: If I activated the effect of Yubel during my End Phase, or the effect of Volcanic Queen during my End Phase, can I choose a monster to Tribute that is unaffected by monster effects?
A: Yes, you can. In that case, the chosen monster will not be Tributed, and the effect finishes resolving. (In the case of Yubel, you do not have to destroy Yubel. In the case of Volcanic Queen, you do not take 1000 damage.)[54]
  • Q: During the turn the effect of Performage Damage Juggler is applying, which reduces the next battle damage I take to 0, can I activate the same effect of another Performage Damage Juggler?
A: Even in a situation where the effect of Performage Damage Juggler was activated but has not yet applied to reduce battle damage to 0, you can still activate that effect of a second Performage Damage Juggler. However, the next time you would take battle damage, the effect of both copies will be applied. (Battle damage will not become 0 two different times.)[55]
  • Q: While Number 38
Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy is in my Monster Zone, my Thunder End Dragon and Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon are both destroyed when resolving an effect activated as Chain Link 2, and my Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Dragon is destroyed when resolving an effect that was activated as Chain Link 1.
A: The effect of Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy can only be activated once afterward. When resolving the effect, choose any one of the destroyed Xyz Monsters (in this case, either Thunder End Dragon, Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon, or Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Dragon), and increase the targeted Xyz Monster's ATK by the chosen monster's original ATK.[56]
  • Q: While I have a Pendulum Zone available, I activate the monster effect of Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon that places it in my Pendulum Zone when it is destroyed by my opponent and added face-up to my Extra Deck. At this time, I also chain the effect of Pendulum Switch and place another Pendulum Monster from my field to the empty Pendulum Zone, so that I have no available Pendulum Zones left. In this case, what happens to Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon if it can no longer be placed in a Pendulum Zone?
A: Since there are no Pendulum Zones you can place it in, Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is sent from the Extra Deck to the GY.Furthermore, if an effect is applying that banishes cards that would be sent to the GY, the effect of Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon can still be activated if it was destroyed and banished instead. Similarly in this case, if you have no available Pendulum Zones when resolving its effect, the banished Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is returned to the GY.[57]
  • Q: If Scareclaw Kashtira attacks while in Defense Position using its own effect, but its effects are negated before conducting damage calculation, what happens to the attack?
A: If the effect of Scareclaw Kashtira that allows it to attack while in face-up Defense Position is negated before reaching the Damage Step, that Scareclaw Kashtira will no longer be able to attack, so the attack ends and you will not proceed to the Damage Step.If the effect of Scareclaw Kashtira is negated during the Damage Step before conducting damage calculation, it will no longer be able to attack, and the Damage Step ends without damage calculation occurring.
The same applies for the following effects that allow monsters to attack while in face-up Defense Position:
- Elemental HERO Rampart Blaster
- Invoked Cocytus
- Superheavy Samurai Beast Kyubi
- Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei
- Superheavy Samurai Commander Shanawo
- Superheavy Samurai General Jade
- Superheavy Samurai Masurawo
- Superheavy Samurai Ninja Sarutobi
- Superheavy Samurai Ogre Shutendoji
- Superheavy Samurai Stealth Ninja
- Superheavy Samurai Steam Train King
- Superheavy Samurai Swordmaster Musashi
- Superheavy Samurai Wagon
- Superheavy Samurai Warlord Susanowo
- Total Defense Shogun[58]
  • Q: My opponent controls a face-up Umi and Ocean Dragon Lord - Kairyu-Shin, and the effect that only allows each player to control 1 non-WATER monster is applying. I do not control any monsters. In this situation, when my opponent activates the second effect of Ocean Dragon Lord - Kairyu-Shin, can I chain the effect of PSY-Framegear Gamma?
A: Yes, you can. When it resolves, PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver are Special Summoned, the activation of the effect of Ocean Dragon Lord - Kairyu-Shin is negated, and it is destroyed. (Both PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver remain on the field.)[59]
  • Q: Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Thunder Dragon Colossus battle each other while both having 1800 ATK. During damage calculation, if I have a Thunder monster in my GY, can I apply the effect of Thunder Dragon Colossus and banish a Thunder monster from my GY instead of destroying it?
A: While conducting damage calculation, the Continuous Effect of Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer is preventing you from banishing cards from the GY, so the effect of Thunder Dragon Colossus cannot be applied. Both monsters are destroyed by battle.[60]
  • Q: Regarding the effect of Smoke Grenade of the Thief
A: For both scenarios (A) and (B): When resolving the effect, Smoke Grenade of the Thief and Rod of Silence - Kay'est will both be equipped to the same monster, and by being equipped to a monster (continuously targeting that monster), Smoke Grenade of the Thief is immediately destroyed by the effect of Rod of Silence - Kay'est. Since that Smoke Grenade of the Thief was destroyed while equipped to a monster, its effect will activate. (Since this effect does not target the monster equipped with Rod of Silence - Kay'est, it will not be negated by the effect of Rod of Silence – Kay'est.)
The same applies if both cards become equipped to a monster due to the following effects:
- Armory Call
- Courageous Crimson Chevalier Bradamante
- Gilford the Legend
- Glory of the Noble Knights
- Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles
- Mikanko Rivalry
For scenario (C): Smoke Grenade of the Thief is an Equip Spell Card, so if you activate the card itself, it will become equipped to the targeted monster when its Chain Link resolves. At this time, if the targeted monster is already equipped with Rod of Silence - Kay'est, this resolution will be negated and Smoke Grenade of the Thief will be destroyed. Since Smoke Grenade of the Thief was destroyed without being equipped to the monster, its effect will not activate.[61][62]
  • Q: My opponent has activated the effect of Maxx "C". During the same turn, if I activate Called by the Grave and target the Maxx "C" in the GY, what happens?
A: The result depends on whether Called by the Grave was activated by chaining to the effect of Maxx "C", or if Called by the Grave was activated after the Chain Link made by the effect of Maxx "C" already resolved. If you activated Called by the Grave by chaining to the effect of Maxx "C", the Chain Link made by the effect of Maxx "C" resolves negated. Therefore, your opponent will not draw even if you Special Summon that turn.
If you activate Called by the Grave after the Chain Link made by the effect of Maxx "C" already resolved, the effect of that Maxx "C" will not be negated. (Called by the Grave negates activated effects with the same name as the banished monster, as well as effects that apply in the Monster Zone without starting a Chain, but the previously-applied effect of Maxx "C" is not considered either of these.) Therefore, your opponent will continue to draw each time you Special Summon this turn.[63]
  • Q: When resolving the effect of Battlin' Boxing Cross Counter, can I apply the effect of Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke and detach an Xyz Material from it instead of destroying a "Battlin' Boxer" Xyz Monster?
A: Yes, you can. However, in that case, the effect of Battlin' Boxing Cross Counter is not considered to have successfully destroyed a "Battlin' Boxer" Xyz Monster or "Number" Monster you control, so the activation of the opponent's monster effect is not negated and the opponent's monster is not destroyed, also the additional "●" effect cannot be applied.[64]
  • Q: I activated the effect of Volcanic Rimfire, but the activation of that effect, or the activated effect, was negated. During the same turn, can I activate the effect of Volcanic Rimfire again by selecting the same "●" effect?
A: You can activate the effect, but you cannot select the same "●" effect. The same is true for Volcanic Emission. Even if the effect or its activation are negated, you still selected a "●" effect.[65]
  • Q: I have Volcanic Emperor and Number 35
Ravenous Tarantula in my Monster Zone. In this situation, my opponent resolves the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted in their hand, Special Summoning it and negating the effects of a face-up monster on the field. If the effects of Volcanic Emperor or Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula are negated this way, is damage inflicted to my opponent by their effects?
A: No damage is inflicted by its effect. The effects of Volcanic Emperor and Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula that inflict damage to your opponent when a monster is Special Summoned do not apply in the middle of a resolving Chain Link. If a Special Summon occurs while resolving a Chain Link, their effects are applied immediately after resolving that Chain Link. When resolving the effect of Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted, both the action of Special Summoning and the action of negating the effects of a monster occur while resolving the same Chain Link. Once the Chain Link finishes resolving, the effects of that Volcanic Emperor or Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula have been negated, so their damage-inflicting effect is not applied.[66]
  • Q: My opponent Special Summons Destiny HERO - Plasma while I have Volcanic Emperor and Number 35
Ravenous Tarantula in my Monster Zone. Due to the Special Summon, the damage-inflicting Continuous Effects of Volcanic Emperor and Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula meet their conditions to apply, but the Continuous Effect of Destiny HERO - Plasma is also applied. In this case, is damage inflicted to my opponent?
A: In that case, the effects of Volcanic Emperor and Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula are negated first, and no damage is inflicted.[67]
  • Q: My monster equipped with Superheavy Samurai Soulhorns attacks twice by applying the effect "It can make a second attack during each Battle Phase", and its second attack destroys an opponent's monster by battle. At this time, can I activate the Pendulum Effect of Superheavy Samurai General Coral and attack a third time?
A: The Pendulum Effect of Superheavy Samurai General Coral cannot be activated. Therefore, a third attack is not possible.[68]
  • Q: As Chain Link 1, I activate the first effect of Subterror Guru, but as Chain Link 2 my opponent activates the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Furthermore, I activate Subterror Final Battle as Chain Link 3 and select the effect that prevents activated effects of "Subterror" cards from being negated, but as Chain Link 4 my opponent chains Called by the Grave and targets another Subterror Guru in my GY. After Chain Links 4 through 2 are resolved, how does the effect of Subterror Guru at Chain Link 1 resolve?
A: The effect of Subterror Guru is applied. When resolving a Chain Link while an effect prevents activated effects from being negated, even if another effect that negates effects has been applied, the first effect will not be negated and will apply normally.Furthermore, regardless of the order in which the negating effect and the effect that prevents activated effects from being negated were each applied, the result will be the same as long as the effect that prevents activated effects from being negated is applying when you start to resolve an effect.[69][70]
  • Q: I activated Urgent Ritual Art by banishing Forbidden Arts of the Gishki. The text of Forbidden Arts of the Gishki states that I cannot conduct my Battle Phase during the turn I activate it, but can I still conduct my Battle Phase this turn?
A: You can conduct your Battle Phase this turn. The effect of Urgent Ritual Art only applies the resolution of the Ritual Spell banished for its cost. The text of Forbidden Arts of the Gishki that states you cannot conduct your Battle Phase during the turn you activate it is a condition for activating the card, not the effect's resolution, so it is not taken into account when activating Urgent Ritual Art by banishing it. Therefore, it can be activated during or after the Battle Phase.[71]
  • Q: After activating and applying the effect of Dinomorphia Intact while my LP are 125, if I take battle damage from a direct attack by an opponent's monster with 100 ATK, how do my LP change?
A: First, when you pay half your LP to activate Dinomorphia Intact, your remaining LP will be 63. (If you pay half of an odd number of LP, your remaining LP will be rounded up to a whole number.)Afterward, battle damage is taken while the effect "any battle damage you take for the rest of this turn becomes half your LP at the time you would take it" is applying. If your LP are 63, the battle damage you take is 32 (the amount of damage is rounded up to a whole number). Therefore, your remaining LP will be 31.[72]
  • Q: The first effects of both Labrynth Cooclock and Temple of the Kings are applying, and while I control Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle, I Set a Welcome Labrynth and Big Welcome Labrynth from my hand. In this case, can I apply the effects of both Labrynth Cooclock and Temple of the Kings to activate Welcome Labrynth and Big Welcome Labrynth during the turn they were Set?
A: You can activate the 2 Trap Cards by applying each of those effects. However, when activating each of them, you must tell your opponent whether you are applying the effect of Labrynth Cooclock or the effect of Temple of the Kings.[73]
  • Q: Necrovalley is face-up in my opponent's Field Zone. In this situation, can I activate Terrors of the Overroot targeting a card my opponent controls and a card in my opponent's GY?
A: Yes, you can activate it. In that case, the effect of Terrors of the Overroot is negated by the effect of Necrovalley.[74]
  • Q: Regarding the effect of Fusion Reproduction
A: The effect of Fusion Reproduction only applies the resolution of the effect that would be performed when the targeted card is activated. When applying the effect of the Spell, you do not need to take into account any conditions for activating that card that are written in its text.(A) The given text of Red-Eyes Fusion is a condition for activating the card, so it is not taken into account when applying its effect with Fusion Reproduction. In other words, you can still target Red-Eyes Fusion with Fusion Reproduction even if you already Special Summoned that turn, and you can still Special Summon afterward that turn.
(B) The given text is a condition applied to both players when the cards Super Polymerization and Ultra Polymerization are activated, so it is not taken into account when applying its effect with Fusion Reproduction. Therefore, it is possible to chain another card or effect to Fusion Reproduction.
(C) Yes, it can.
(D) If a Special Summon is performed when resolving Fusion Reproduction, the Special Summon is treated as being performed by the effect of Fusion Reproduction. (As mentioned above, only the resolution of the effect is applied, so the card's name does not change. Therefore, Evil HERO Dark Gaia cannot be Special Summoned by the effect of Fusion Reproduction.[75]
  • Q: I control a Traptrix Sera, and have a Lord of the Heavenly Prison in my hand revealed by its own effect. Furthermore, my opponent has Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in their hand. In this situation, after I activate a Normal Trap, I activate the effect of Traptrix Sera that Special Summons a "Traptrix" monster from my Deck. If I want to chain the second effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison, but my opponent wants to chain the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, which effect can be activated as Chain Link 2?
A: You can activate the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison as Chain Link 2. Furthermore, you are able to activate the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison as Chain Link 1, and the effect of Traptrix Sera as Chain Link 2.[76][77]
  • Q: The effects of a Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon in my Monster Zone are negated, and its effect "You can only control 1 "Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon"" is not applied. In this situation, can I Special Summon another Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon face-up to my Monster Zone?
A: No, you cannot.A face-up Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon in your Monster Zone restricts other copies of Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon from appearing face-up on your field due to its first effect. Furthermore, a Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon that is not face-up in your Monster Zone will restrict itself from being placed face-up or becoming face-up on your field while another Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is already face-up on your field. You can only Special Summon Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon if neither of these restrictions are present.
In this scenario, the effects of the Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon in your Monster Zone are negated, and the former restriction has been removed. However, latter restriction has not been removed.[78]
  • Q: The effects of either Magical Meltdown or Branded Lost that state "The activation of your cards and effects that include an effect that Fusion Summons a Fusion Monster cannot be negated, also your opponent cannot activate cards or effects when a monster is Fusion Summoned this way" are applying.
A: Yes, they can activate the effect. After Fusion Summoning El Shaddoll Construct at Chain Link 2, the Chain Link 1 effect must be resolved, so after resolving the entire Chain, it is no longer "when a monster is Fusion Summoned".[79]
A: In each of these cases, they can be activated, and the part of the effect that negates the attack is applied when it resolves. If a card activation was performed (the first effect of Transaction Rollback, or the effect of "Trap of Darkness", Fake Feather, or Labrynth Barrage), the card will be Set in the Spell & Trap Zone afterward.
If a card activation was not performed (the second effect of Transaction Rollback or the effect of Junk Collector), the part of the effect that Sets it in the Spell & Trap Zone is not applied.[80]
  • Q: Due to the effect of Cynet Conflict that was chained to the first effect of Floowandereeze & Robina, the activation of the effect of Floowandereeze & Robina is negated and it is banished. In this case, is the effect of Cynet Conflict that prevents the opponent from activating card effects with the same name as the banished card until the end of the next turn applied?
A: It is not applied. That Floowandereeze & Robina was banished by its own effect, so the effect of Cynet Conflict does not apply since it was not banished by its effect.[81]
  • Q: Which monsters are considered "Red Dragon Archfiend or a Synchro Monster that mentions it", as described in the texts of Soul Resonator, Fiendish Golem, and Red Zone?
A: A Synchro Monster that mentions a card name refers to a Synchro Monster with a specific card's name (Red Dragon Archfiend in this case) written in its card text. The following monsters fall in this category:● Majestic Red Dragon
● Red Nova Dragon
● Scar-Red Dragon Archfiend
● Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend
(Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend is not included.)[82]
  • Q: Can I activate a second Absolute Powerforce targeting a Red Dragon Archfiend that has already had the effect of Absolute Powerforce applied to it?
A: It can be activated. If the effect resolves, the "● It gains 1000 ATK" is applied cumulatively, but the others are not applied cumulatively. (It will gain a total of 2000 ATK, but the damage is only doubled once.)[83]
  • Q: Volcanic Blaze Accelerator is face-up in my Splel & Trap Zone, and its effect "You can only control 1 "Volcanic Blaze Accelerator"" is applied. In this situation, can I use the effect of Volcanic Rimfire to banish that Volcanic Blaze Accelerator from my Spell & Trap Zone and place another Volcanic Blaze Accelerator face-up on my field?
A: If Volcanic Blaze Accelerator is already face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone, you can still activate the second effect of Volcanic Rimfire as long as a different "Blaze Accelerator" Continuous Spell/Trap that can be placed on your field exists in your hand/Deck. When the effect of Volcanic Rimfire resolves, you first banish 1 "Blaze Accelerator" card from your face-up field or GY, then place the second "Blaze Accelerator" Continuous Spell/Trap Card from your hand/Deck on the field. Therefore, if you banished Volcanic Blaze Accelerator, you can choose another Volcanic Blaze Accelerator as the card to place on the field.[84]
  • Q: A Codebreaker Virus Swordsman that was Special Summoned by its own effect is face-up in the Monster Zone, so that it will be banished by its effect when it leaves the field. Can I activate the effect of Accesscode Talker by banishing that Codebreaker Virus Swordsman?
A: Yes, you can. Furthermore, even in that case, you cannot activate the effect of Accesscode Talker again that turn by banishing a DARK monster.[85]
  • Q: A Battle Fader that was Special Summoned by its own effect is face-up in the Monster Zone, so that it will be banished by its effect when it leaves the field. If I activate the effect of Caius the Shadow Monarch and banish that Battle Fader, will the effect still inflict 1000 damage to my opponent? Also, in the same situation, if Battle Fader is banished by the effect of Chain Disappearance, will additional copies of it be banished from the hand/Deck?
A: In either case, Battle Fader is successfully banished, so the effect of Caius the Shadow Monarch will inflict 1000 damage to the opponent, and Chain Disappearance will banish all copies of Battle Fader from the opponent's hand/Deck.[86][87]
  • Q: The Levels of 2 monsters I control, including Gagaga Sister, have increased due to the second effect of that Gagaga Sister. In this situation, if the effects of that Gagaga Sister are negated by something like Infinite Impermanence, what happens to the monsters' Levels?
A: The Levels do not change after being increased by that effect. For monster effects that changes Levels, effects that can change the Levels of other monsters will continue to apply even if the monster whose effect was applied or the monster who the effect was applied to has its effects negated. The same applies to the effects of the following cards that change Levels.
- Assault Blackwing - Kunai the Drizzle
- Blackwing - Decay the Ill Wind
- Constellar Kaus
- Cyber Dragon Drei
- Cyberse Synchron
- Double Shark
- Gunkan Suship Uni
- Junk Changer
- Mathmech Multiplication
- Pikari @Ignister
- Primitive Butterfly
- Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice
- Superheavy Samurai Motorbike
- Uni-Zombie[88][89]
  • Q: Level Limit - Area B is face-up in the Spell &; Trap Zone, and its effect "Change all face-up Level 4 or higher monsters to Defense Position" is applying. In this situation, can I activate the third effect of Superheavy Samurai Wagon?
A: Yes, you can activate the effect. Level Limit - Area B does not prevent battle position changes by card effects. When resolving the effect in this scenario, Superheavy Samurai Wagon is changed to Attack Position, and you add a "Superheavy Samurai Soul" monster from your Deck to your hand. Immediately after the effect resolves, Superheavy Samurai Wagon is changed to Defense Position again by the effect of Level Limit - Area B.[90][89]
  • Q: I activate the third effect of Traptrix Mantis and return a card that was Set in my Spell &; Trap Zone to the hand. At this time, if I choose to apply the part of the effect that Sets a Spell/Trap Card from my hand, can I Set Artifact Moralltach by applying its effect?
A: Yes, you can. The same applies to the following cards with the effect "You can Set this card from your hand to your Spell &; Trap Zone as a Spell."- Artifact Achilleshield
- Artifact Aegis
- Artifact Beagalltach
- Artifact Caduceus
- Artifact Chakram
- Artifact Failnaught
- Artifact Labrys
- Artifact Lancea
- Artifact Mjollnir
- Artifact Scythe
- Artifact Vajra
- Primineral Mandstrong
- Silver Sentinel
- Sunlit Sentinel
- Toy Magician[91][89]
  • Q: Macro Cosmos is face-up in the Spell &; Trap Zone, and its effect "any card sent to the GY is banished instead" is applying. In this situation, if my Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss would be destroyed by battle or by my opponent's card effect, can I apply its effect that sends another card I control to the GY instead?
A: Yes, you can. If you apply this effect, the card chosen to be sent to the GY will be banished instead due to the effect of Macro Cosmos, but Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss will not be destroyed and will remain in the Monster Zone. (However, you must choose a replacement card from among your cards that are not about to be destroyed. This is true whether or not the effect of Macro Cosmos is applying.)The same applies with the effects of the following cards.
- Amaze Attraction Majestic Merry-Go-Round
- Ancient Warriors Saga - Chivalrous Path
- Armed Dragon Lightning
- Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Panda
- Catapult Zone
- Decisive Battle of Golgonda
- Fengli the Soldrapom
- Guardragon Shield
- Ib the World Chalice Priestess
- Iron Core Armor
- Lady of D.
- Marshalling Field
- Number 66: Master Key Beetle
- Orcustrated Core
- Power Tool Dragon
- Pyramid of Wonders
- Sinister Yorishiro
- Therion Discolosseum
- Timestar Magician
- War Rock Mountain
- Yang Zing Prana[92][89]
  • Q: I activate the effect of Shooting Riser Dragon, and when resolving that effect, I send Jet Synchron to the GY and reduce the Level of Shooting Riser Dragon by 1. Afterward, if Skill Drain is activated and the effects of Shooting Riser Dragon are negated, what happens to its applied effect?
A: Its Level will return to its original value. (The part of the effect "for the rest of this turn, you cannot activate the effects of monsters with the same name the sent monster had in the GY" will still apply.) For monster effects that changes Levels, effects that can only change a monster's own Levels will no longer be applied when that monster's effects are negated. The same applies to the effects of the following cards that change their own Level.
- Accel Synchron
- Blackwing - Harmattan the Dust
- Cyber Dragon Herz
- F.A. Dawn Dragster
- Fortune Lady Earth
- Galaxy Wizard
- Gash the Dust Lord
- Lefty Driver
- Lyrilusc - Independent Nightingale
- Mare Mare
- Megalith Phul[93][89]
  • Q: If I have 5 monsters in my Main Monster Zones, or if I have no usable Main Monster Zones due to an effect that prevents a zone from being used, can I activate the effect of a Danger! Nessie! in my hand?
A: Yes, you can. Even if that is still the situation when resolving the effect, your opponent discards 1 random card from your hand. If the discarded card is not Danger! Nessie!, the effect finishes resolving there. (The Danger! Nessie! whose effect was activated remains in your hand.)The same applies to the following "Danger!" monsters.
- Danger! Bigfoot!
- Danger! Chupacabra!
- Danger! Dogman!
- Danger! Mothman!
- Danger! Ogopogo!
- Danger! Thunderbird
- Danger!? Jackalope?
- Danger!? Tsuchinoko?[94][89]
  • Q: The effect of my opponent's Droll &; Lock Bird is applying. In this situation, can I activate the effect of a Danger! Bigfoot! in my hand?
A: Yes, you can. When resolving the effect, your opponent discards 1 random card from your hand. If the discarded card is not Danger! Bigfoot!, apply the part of the effect that Special Summons a Danger! Bigfoot! from your hand, but you do not draw a card. The same applies to the following "Danger!" monsters.
- Danger! Chupacabra!
- Danger! Dogman!
- Danger! Mothman!
- Danger! Nessie!
- Danger! Ogopogo!
- Danger! Thunderbird
- Danger!? Jackalope?
- Danger!? Tsuchinoko?[95][89]
  • Q: My opponent activates the effect of I
P Masquerena and performs a Link Summon. In this case, can I activate the second effect of Granguignol the Dusk Dragon?
A: No, you cannot activate it. As with the effect of I:P Masquerena, if an effect performs a Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link Summon, the resolution of the effect's Chain Link allows the player to perform the Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum/Link Summon, but the Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum/Link Summon itself is performed immediately after that Chain Link resolves. The condition for activating the effect of Granguignol the Dusk Dragon is fulfilled when your opponent activates a monster effect and a monster is Special Summoned when that effect resolves. Therefore, the Link Summon performed with the effect of I:P Masquerena does not satisfy the activation condition for the effect of Granguignol the Dusk Dragon.
Furthermore, the following effects will also perform a Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum/Link Summon immediately after resolving their Chain Link, just like the effect of I:P Masquerena. Therefore, these Special Summons do not count as monsters being Special Summoned by an activated effect.
- Accel Synchron
- Crystron Quandax
- Formula Synchron
- Garden Rose Flora
- Shooting Riser Dragon
- Superheavy Samurai Fist
- Urgent Tuning
- Exosister Returnia
- Wonder Xyz
- Unchained Soul of Anguish
- Unchained Soul of Disaster
- Unchained Soul of Rage
- World Legacy Awakens[96][89]
  • Q: If a Despian Quaeritis that would be sent to the GY is banished instead due to the effects "any card (or monster) sent to the GY is banished instead" of my opponent's Dimension Shifter, Macro Cosmos, or Dimensional Fissure, can I activate its second effect?
A: The activation condition is if it "leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect", so if the reason Despian Quaeritis left the field is because of an opponent's effect, its effect can be activated, but if not, it cannot be activated. The effects of Dimension Shifter, Macro Cosmos, or Dimensional Fissure are irrelevant.[97][89]
  • Q: If a Despian Tragedy that would be sent to the GY is banished instead due to the effects "any card (or monster) sent to the GY is banished instead" of Dimension Shifter, Macro Cosmos, or Dimensional Fissure, can I activate its first effect?
A: Since Despian Tragedy is banished by that effect, its first effect can be activated. (Even if it was being sent to the GY because it was destroyed by battle, or for the cost of an effect, if it is banished instead due to the effects of Dimension Shifter, Macro Cosmos, or Dimensional Fissure, it is treated as being banished by a card effect.)[98][89]
  • Q: If the effect "your opponent cannot target this card with card effects, also their monsters cannot target monsters for attacks, except this one" of Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax or the effect "your opponent's monsters can only target monsters you control with the highest ATK (their choice, if tied) for attacks" of Rock of the Vanquisher are applying, can I attack directly with Sky Striker Ace - Hayate using its effect?
A: Even if the effect of your opponent's Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax is applying, you can attack directly with Sky Striker Ace - Hayate. The effect "their monsters cannot target monsters for attacks" restricts only monsters from being targeted for attacks, so it does not restrict your opponent from being targeted for a direct attack. You cannot attack directly with Sky Striker Ace - Hayate while the effect of Rock of the Vanquisher is applying. Since the effect "your opponent's monsters can only target monsters you control with the highest ATK (their choice, if tied) for attacks" restricts the general selection of attack targets, it also restricts direct attacks.[99][89]
  • Q: If Solemn Judgment is activated in response to a monster's Normal, Flip, or Special Summon, can Destruction Jammer be chained to that activation
A: Destruction Jammer cannot be chained when Solemn Judgment is activated in response to a Normal or Special Summon. (Since the monster would be destroyed before it appears on the field, it is not treated as an effect that would destroy a monster on the field.)
When Solemn Judgment is activated in response to a Flip Summon, or the Normal Summon of a Gemini monster already on the field, you can chain Destruction Jammer. (It will be treated as an effect that would destroy a monster on the field.)[100][101]
  • Q: The only monster I control is a face-down Defense Position Rabidragon. If I try to Flip Summon that Rabidragon, but my opponent activates Solemn Judgment to negate the Flip Summon, can I chain Champion's Vigilance
A: Yes, you can. During a Chain in which an effect is activated that would negate a Flip Summon, the monster about to be Flip Summoned is treated as being face-up in the Monster Zone. (However, if it is an Effect Monster, its effects cannot be activated or applied yet.) Therefore, when chaining to the activation of Solemn Judgment, the condition of controlling a Level 7 or higher Normal Monster for activating Champion's Vigilance is met.[102][101]
  • Q: If Des Wombat is face-up on the field, so that I take no effect damage, can I activate Against the Wind
A: Yes, you can. However, if an effect that prevents you from taking damage is applying when you resolve the effect, you do not take any damage, so you do not add the targeted monster to your hand.[103][101]
  • Q: If I use Solemn Judgment to negate the Flip Summon of a Special Summon-only monster, such as Chaos Sorcerer, that was in face-down Defense Position, can that Chaos Sorcerer, etc. that was destroyed and sent to the GY then be Special Summoned from the GY by effects such as Call of the Haunted
A: Yes, they can be Special Summoned. Even if the Flip Summon of a monster with Summoning conditions is negated, that monster is treated as having been properly Special Summoned.[104][101]
  • Q: An Xyz Summoned The Phantom Knights of Break Sword is changed to face-down Defense Position by the effect of my opponent's Book of Moon. On my next turn, when I try to Flip Summon The Phantom Knights of Break Sword, my opponent activates Solemn Judgment to negate the Flip Summon. In this case, can I activate the effect of The Phantom Knights of Break Sword that Special Summons 2 "The Phantom Knights" monsters from the GY
A: Yes, you can. Even if an Xyz Monster is changed to face-down Defense Position after being Xyz Summoned, it is still treated as an Xyz Summoned monster. If its Flip Summon is negated and it is destroyed, it will be destroyed in the Monster Zone, so the activation condition "if this Xyz Summoned card is destroyed" for The Phantom Knights of Break Sword has been met.[105][101]
  • Q: Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon is face-up in my opponent's Monster Zone, and its effect that prevents each player from Special Summoning 2 or more monsters at the same time is applying. In this situation, if my Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon with Xyz Materials is destroyed by battle or my opponent's card effect and sent to the GY, can I activate Cipher Spectrum
A: The effect of Cipher Spectrum Special Summons 2 monsters at the same time: The targeted "Cipher" Xyz Monster in your GY, and 1 Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck with the same name. Therefore, if the effect of Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon is applying, you cannot activate Cipher Spectrum.
(In addition, if Call of the Haunted is chained to the activation of Cipher Spectrum, and Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon is Special Summoned, the effect of Cipher Spectrum will resolve by only Special Summoning the targeted monster from the GY.)[106][101]
  • Q: A Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World that was Fusion Summoned and then changed to face-down Defense Position is currently in the Monster Zone. When I try to Flip Summon that Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World, my opponent activates Vanquishing Light to negate the Summon and destroy it. At this time, can I apply the effect of a Dark World Punishment in my GY and banish it instead of destroying Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World
A: You can apply that effect. However, even in that case, Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World will be sent to the GY. The negation of a Flip Summon, or of the second Normal Summoning of Gemini monsters already on the field, is applied to a monster while it is face-up in the Monster Zone. Furthermore, if the effect negates a Summon and destroys the monster, that effect is also applied to a face-up monster in the Monster Zone.
In other words, Vanquishing Light will destroy Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World while it is face-up in the Monster Zone, so you can apply the second effect of Dark World Punishment in your GY. However, since the Summon is negated even though the monster is not destroyed, Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World can no longer exist on the field and it is sent to the GY.
Furthermore, the effect of Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World that activates when it leaves the field by an opponent's card cannot be activated.[107][101]
  • Q: If the Flip Summon of Performapal Momoncarpet is negated and it is destroyed, where is that Performapal Momoncarpet sent
A: It will be added to the face-up Extra Deck. If a Flip Summon is negated and the monster is destroyed, that monster is destroyed while in the Monster Zone. Therefore, if it is a Pendulum Monster, it is added to the face-up Extra Deck.[108][101]
  • Q: The effect of T.G. Halberd Cannon that negates a Summon is activated in response to a monster's Flip Summon. On the same Chain, can I activate the following effects targeting the monster about to be Flip Summoned
A: During a Chain in which an effect is activated that would negate a Flip Summon, the monster about to be Flip Summoned is treated as being face-up in the Monster Zone. (However, if it is an Effect Monster, its effects cannot be activated or applied yet.) Therefore, it can be targeted by card effects. Additionally, when resolving the effect that negates the Flip Summon, the Summon is only negated if the monster being Flip Summoned is face-up in the Monster Zone. Otherwise, the effect is not applied.
(A) Book of Moon can be activated. If its effect is applied to the monster being Flip Summoned, the effect of T.G. Halberd Cannon is not applied. (The monster remains in face-down Defense Position.)
(B) Compulsory Evacuation Device can be activated. If its effect is applied to the monster being Flip Summoned, the effect of T.G. Halberd Cannon is not applied. (The monster remains in the hand.)[109][101]
  • Q: During my turn, I activate the effect of Imperial Princess Quinquery, and Special Summon an Artifact Mjollnir to my opponent's Monster Zone. In this case, which player activates the effect of Artifact Mjollnir
A: Your opponent activates it.[110][101]
  • Q: I took control of my opponent's Firewall Dragon with the third effect of Borreload Dragon. In this situation, if I activate Interdimensional Matter Transporter during the Main Phase of the next turn and banish that Firewall Dragon, what happens to it during that End Phase
A: The banished Firewall Dragon returns to your Main Monster Zone. No further action is applied (control is not returned nor is it sent to the Graveyard).[111][112]
  • Q: Xyz Armor Fortress has text that states "This card with material cannot be used as material for an Xyz Summon", but can I Xyz Summon Number 21
Frozen Lady Justice by its own procedure, "You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 1 Xyz Material from a Rank 5 Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material", using Xyz Armor Fortress with 1 Xyz Material
A: No, you cannot.[113][112]
  • Q: My opponent activated Raigeki Break, targeting The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine Set in my Spell &; Trap Zone. If I chain and activate The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine, how does Raigeki Break resolve
A: In this scenario, The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine is Special Summoned when its effect resolves. At that point, it is no longer treated as a Trap Card, and is no longer treated as the card targeted by Raigeki Break. As such, the effect of Raigeki Break is not applied.
The same applies to the following Trap Cards with effects that Special Summon them as monsters (and are no longer treated as Trap Cards).
- Qlife's End
- The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace
- The Phantom Knights of Tomb Shield
- The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnetring
- Traptrix Holeutea[114][112]
  • Q: My opponent activated Raigeki Break, targeting a Conquistador of the Golden Land Set in my Spell &; Trap Zone. If I chain and activate that Conquistador of the Golden Land, how does Raigeki Break resolve
A: First, resolve the effect of Conquistador of the Golden Land, "Special Summon this card as a Normal Monster (Zombie/LIGHT/Level 5/ATK 500/DEF 1800) (this card is also still a Trap), then, if you control "Eldlich the Golden Lord", you can destroy 1 face-up card on the field." After that, the Conquistador of the Golden Land in your Monster Zone is destroyed by the effect of Raigeki Break. (Since it is still treated as a Trap Card after being Special Summoned, it is still treated as the card targeted by Raigeki Break after being Special Summoned.)
The same applies to the following Trap Cards with effects that Special Summon them as monsters (and are still treated as Trap Cards).
- Abyss Stungray
- Altergeist Emulatelf
- Angel Statue - Azurune
- Apophis the Swamp Deity
- Copy Knight
- Crusadia Krawler
- Cyber Shadow Gardna
- Dimension Reflector
- Dwimmered Glimmer
- Embodiment of Apophis
- Guardian of the Golden Land
- Huaquero of the Golden Land
- King Scarlet
- Krystal Avatar
- Machine King - 3000 B.C.
- Metal Reflect Slime
- Metalhold the Moving Blockade
- Metamorphortress
- Powerhold the Moving Battery
- Quantum Cat
- Shaddoll Core
- Shapesister
- Space Dragster
- Statue of Anguish Pattern
- Stronghold the Moving Fortress
- Swamp Mirrorer
- The Door of Destiny
- The First Monarch
- Tiki Curse
- Tiki Soul
- Zoma the Spirit[115][112]
  • Q: When I activate the first effect of Baronne de Fleur, targeting a Centurion Primera treated as a Continuous Trap Card, the effect of that Centurion Primera that Special Summons it is chained. As a result, if Centurion Primera has been Special Summoned to a Monster Zone by the time the effect of Baronne de Fleur resolves, what happens
A: No action is taken. When the effect of Centurion Primera resolves, it changes from a Continuous Trap Card to a monster (and is no longer treated as a Trap). At that point, it is no longer treated as the card targeted by the effect of Baronne de Fleur.
The same applies when Special Summoning the following cards treated as Continuous Trap Cards.
- Centurion Emet VI
- Centurion Trudea
- Vision HERO Increase
- Vision HERO Minimum Ray
- Vision HERO Multiply Guy
- Vision HERO Poisoner[116][112]
  • Q: My opponent's monster declares an attack on my Sheep Token while it and Mementoral Tecuhtlica, the Netherskull Dragon are in my Monster Zone. When the attack is declared, if I activate Memento Cranium Burst and its effect is applied, what happens to the attack
A: The attacking monster can no longer attack the Sheep Token, causing a replay. The attacking monster will target Mementoral Tecuhtlica, the Netherskull Dragon for its attack. (The attack cannot be canceled because the effect "your opponent's monsters that can attack must attack" is applying.)[117][112]
  • Q: When Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight is Tributed and its effect is activated, which "Black Luster Soldier" monsters can I Special Summon
A: You cannot Special Summon a Special Summon-only monster from your hand with the effect of Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight. Therefore, the only monsters you can Special Summon from your hand with this effect are Black Luster Soldier - Sacred Soldier and the Normal Monster Black Luster Soldier.
Also, the effect of Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight cannot Special Summon a Special Summon-only monster from the GY that has not been properly Special Summoned first. Therefore, in addition to the above-mentioned "Black Luster Soldier" monsters, monsters such as Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, and the Ritual Monster Black Luster Soldier can be Special Summoned from the GY by this effect if they have been properly Special Summoned beforehand.
Furthermore, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Evening Twilight cannot be Special Summoned except by the method written in its text, so it cannot be Special Summoned by the effect of Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight.[118][119]
  • Q: What happens if Super Soldier Rebirth is activated targeting a Super Soldier Soul whose name is treated as "Black Luster Soldier" by its own first effect
A: In this scenario, since Super Soldier Soul is treated as Black Luster Soldier, you cannot Special Summon either the Ritual Monster Black Luster Soldier or the Normal Monster Black Luster Soldier. You can Special Summon monsters from your hand whose card names are not "Black Luster Soldier" (such as Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier or Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning).[120][119]
  • Q: If a monster Special Summoned by the effect of Super Soldier Rebirth is sent to the GY, can it be Special Summoned again by the effect of Monster Reborn
A: Monsters Special Summoned by the effect of Super Soldier Rebirth are not treated as being properly Special Summoned. Therefore, monsters such as the Ritual Monster Black Luster Soldier and Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning that were previously Special Summoned by the effect of Super Soldier Rebirth cannot be Special Summoned again with Monster Reborn.
Also, Black Luster Soldier - Sacred Soldier and the Normal Monster Black Luster Soldier are monsters that can be Normal Summoned/Set, so even if they are sent to the GY after being Special Summoned by the effect of Super Soldier Rebirth, they can then be Special Summoned by the effect of Monster Reborn.[121][119]
  • Q: When a monster on the field activates its effect as Chain Link 1, Back to the Front is chained to that activation, targeting Number 41
Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir in the GY. If Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is Special Summoned in Defense Position by the effect of Back to the Front, and its effect begins applying, will the Chain Link 1 monster effect be negated
A: It depends on the battle position of the monster when its effect was activated as Chain Link 1. If it was activated while it was in Defense Position, the activated effect will be negated. If it was activated while it was in Attack Position, it will not be negated. (Whether or not it is negated depends on the battle position the monster was in when its effect activated; however, when the effect of Back to the Front finishes resolving, the Continuous Effect of Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir will change all face-up monsters on the field to Defense Position regardless.)[122][119]
  • Q: If a monster cannot be used as Fusion Material due to effects such as Gnomaterial, CONTAIN!, Libromancer Prevented, or Warning Point, can I send that monster to the GY to Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
A: In any of those cases, you can still send the monster to the GY for the Special Summon. The Special Summon method written in the text of Chimeratech Fortress Dragon is not a Fusion Summon, and monsters used for this Special Summon are not treated as materials for a Fusion Summon. (However, they are still treated as Fusion Materials.)
In addition to Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, the following monsters are Special Summoned by the methods written in their text that are not Fusion Summons, and the monsters used during the procedures for those Special Summons are not treated as materials for a Fusion Summon.
- ABC-Dragon Buster
- Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon
- Armed Dragon Catapult Cannon
- Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon
- Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon
- Cyberdark End Dragon
- Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer
- Egyptian God Slime
- Elemental HERO Aqua Neos
- Elemental HERO Cosmo Neos
- Elemental HERO Dark Neos
- Elemental HERO Flare Neos
- Elemental HERO Grand Neos
- Elemental HERO Magma Neos
- Elemental HERO Marine Neos
- Elemental HERO Nebula Neos
- Elemental HERO Storm Neos
- Gladiator Beast Andabata
- Gladiator Beast Domitianus
- Gladiator Beast Essedarii
- Gladiator Beast Gyzarus
- Gladiator Beast Heraklinos
- Gladiator Beast Nerokius
- Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor
- Meizen the Battle Ninja
- Rainbow Overdragon
- Secret Six Samurai - Rihan
- Supreme Celestial King Odd-Eyes Arc-Ray Dragon
- Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom
- Thunder Dragon Colossus
- Thunder Dragon Titan
- Trishula, the Dragon of Icy Imprisonment
- Ultimate Great Insect
- VW-Tiger Catapult
- VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon
- World Chalice Guardragon Almarduke
- XY-Dragon Cannon
- XYZ-Dragon Cannon
- XZ-Tank Cannon
- Yaguramaru the Armor Ninja
- YZ-Tank Dragon[123][119]
  • Q: When declaring the card name "Black Luster Soldier" with Prohibition or Mind Crush, is it necessary to specify the Normal Monster or the Ritual Monster
A: It is not necessary to specify. If you declared "Black Luster Soldier", the effect will be applied to both the Normal Monster Black Luster Soldier and the Ritual Monster Black Luster Soldier.[124][119]
  • Q: A FIRE monster in my Monster Zone is destroyed while Sacred Fire King Garunix and Dark Hole Dragon are in my GY. As a result, since the activation conditions for each of their effects have been met, can they both be activated on the same Chain
A: You can only activate the effect of one of them. Both of their effects cannot be activated on the same Chain.
For Trigger Effects of monsters that Special Summon themselves and activate in the hand, only one such effect can be activated in the same Chain. "Trigger Effects of monsters that Special Summon themselves and activate in the hand" also includes effects that can be activated in either the hand or the GY, such as the above-mentioned Sacred Fire King Garunix and Dark Hole Dragon. Regardless of whether it is activated in the hand or GY, this type of Trigger Effect can only be activated once on the same Chain.
Similarly, for the following monsters that have effects that Special Summon themselves and activate in the hand, even if there are multiple effects that meet their activation requirements, only one of them can be activated in the same Chain.[125][119]
  • Q: When I activate the effect of Fire King Island, "During your Main Phase
You can destroy 1 monster in your hand or you control, and if you do, add 1 "Fire King" monster from your Deck to your hand.", I destroy a Sacred Fire King Garunix in my hand and add a "Fire King" monster from my Deck to my hand. After the effect resolves, can I activate the effect of that Sacred Fire King Garunix that was destroyed and sent to the GY
A: No, you cannot.[126][119]
  • Q: Due to the effect of Weather Report, An Unfortunate Report, or The Passage of Stars and Frost being applied, I can perform my Battle Phase twice. If my opponent activates the effect of The Unhappy Maiden or Cosmic Blazar Dragon that ends the Battle Phase during the first Battle Phase, can I still conduct my second Battle Phase
A: The effect of The Unhappy Maiden ends "the Battle Phase for that turn", so the Battle Phase including the second one ends. Therefore, that second Battle Phase cannot be conducted.
The effect of Cosmic Blazar Dragon simply ends the Battle Phase, so the current (the first) Battle Phase ends, but the second Battle Phase can still be conducted.[127][128]
  • Q: My opponent's monster was banished by the second effect of S
P Little Knight that I activated. During the End Phase, when the banished monster returns to my opponent's Main Monster Zone, who chooses where to place it
A: Your opponent chooses.
Similarly, if you activated any of the following effects and a banished monster returns to your opponent's Monster Zone, your opponent decides where to place it.
- The first effect of Battlin' Boxer Chief Second
- The first effect of Sleipnir the Runick Mane
- The second effect of Bunny Ear Enthusiast
- The "●" effect a "The Weather" monster gains from The Weather Painter Moonbow
- The first effect of Onibimaru Soul Sweeper
- The third effect of Starry Night, Starry Dragon
- The second effect of Performapal Turn Trooper
- The first effect of Sky Striker Ace - Zeke
- The second effect of Fortune Fairy Swee
- The first effect of Degrade Buster
- The second effect of Zefra Metaltron
- The first effect of Number 70: Malevolent Sin
- The second monster effect of Timebreaker Magician
- The third effect of Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
- The first effect of PSY-Framelord Zeta
- The second effect of Time Magic Hammer
- The second effect of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
- Junk Archer
- Red Arrows
- The second effect of Epurrely Plump
- Spiritual Entanglement
- Future Visions
- The first effect of Ghoti Fury
- Fiendish Golem
- The second effect of Amaze Attraction Thrill Train
- Ichiroku's Ledger Book
- The first effect of U.A. Penalty Box[129][128]
  • Q: I Fusion Summoned Starving Venom Fusion Dragon using 2 DARK monsters in my Monster Zone as materials. Afterward, what happens if I activate De-Fusion targeting that Starving Venom Fusion Dragon
A: Starving Venom Fusion Dragon returns to the Extra Deck. In this case, even if the 2 DARK monsters used as the Fusion Materials are in your GY, they are not treated as monsters on the field, so you do not have the materials "2 DARK monsters on the field, except Tokens" of Starving Venom Fusion Dragon in your GY. Therefore, you cannot Special Summon the Fusion Materials used for the Fusion Summon with the effect of De-Fusion.
If any of the following monsters are returned to the Extra Deck by the effect of De-Fusion, you cannot Special Summon any monsters from the GY.
- Invoked Elysium
- Predaplant Triphyoverutum
- Sprind the Irondash Dragon
- Yubel - Das Ewig Liebe Wächter[130][128]
  • Q: I activate the effect of Barrel Dragon, and when resolving its effect, I apply the effect of Second Coin Toss and redo the coin tosses. In this case, has the condition "roll 1 six-sided die, or toss a coin, 5 times" of Dueltaining been met for me to draw cards
A: You cannot draw. (If you redo the coin toss, the first set of coin tosses are not counted.)[131][128]
  • Q: Can I Special Summon 2 copies of Ritual Beast Tamer Elder at the same time by Pendulum Summon
A: Yes, you can. A Pendulum Summon allows you to Special Summon multiple monsters at the same time, so a single Pendulum Summon can Special Summon 2 or more Ritual Beast Tamer Elder at the same time.
The same applies to the following monsters.
- Spiritual Beast Tamer Winda
- Ritual Beast Tamer Zeframpilica
- Ritual Beast Tamer Zefrawendi
- Spiritual Beast Rampengu
- Ritual Beast Tamer Lara
- Ritual Beast Tamer Wen
- Spiritual Beast Pettlephin
- Spiritual Beast Apelio[132][128]
  • Q: The effect of Cyber Dragon Infinity that attaches another monster on the field to it as Xyz Material is activated. If that Cyber Dragon Infinity leaves the field due to a chained effect, how does its effect resolve
A: The effect of Cyber Dragon Infinity is not applied, so the targeted monster does not become an Xyz Material and remains in the Monster Zone.
The same applies when the following effects are activated.
- The first effect of Number 101: Silent Honor ARK
- The first effect of Number C101: Silent Honor DARK
- The second effect of Number C9: Chaos Dyson Sphere
- The second effect of Goblin Rider Big-Head Gabonga
- The "●" effect a monster gains from Purrely Pretty Memory[133][128]
  • Q: I activated Ultra Polymerization, and Fusion Summoned Starving Venom Fusion Dragon using Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra and Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio as Fusion Materials. Afterward, can I activate the second effect of Ultra Polymerization from my GY
A: No, you cannot. Even if the Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra and Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio used as Fusion Materials for the Fusion Summon performed by Ultra Polymerization are in your GY, they are not treated as monsters on the field, so you do not have the materials "2 DARK monsters on the field, except Tokens" of Starving Venom Fusion Dragon in your GY.
The same applies to the following monsters.
- Invoked Elysium
- Sprind the Irondash Dragon
- Yubel - Das Ewig Liebe Wächter[134][128]
  • Q: Laundry Dragonmaid and Kitchen Dragonmaid are face-up in my Monster Zone. In this situation, at the start of the Battle Phase, can I activate both monsters' effects that return them to the hand and Special Summon a Level 7/Level 8 "Dragonmaid" monster from my hand or GY
A: Each effect can be activated. In this situation, you would activate and resolve each effect one by one, instead of chaining them together.
The same applies to the effects of the following monsters.
- The second effect of Nurse Dragonmaid
- The second effect of Parlor Dragonmaid
- The second effect of Chamber Dragonmaid[135][128]
  • Q: My opponent controls an Armed Dragon Thunder LV10, and its effect "● 10+
Control of it cannot switch" is applying. Can I target that Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 with the effect of Number 101: Silent Honor ARK that attaches a monster to it as Xyz Material
A: The effect cannot be activated. Any effect that attaches an opponent's monster to your own monster as Xyz Material is treated as an effect that changes control of a monster.
Similarly, the following effects cannot be used on an opponent's monster with the effect "control of it cannot switch" applying.
- The first effect of Number C101: Silent Honor DARK
- The second effect of Cyber Dragon Infinity
- The second effect of Goblin Rider Big-Head Gabonga
- The "●" effect a monster gains from Purrely Pretty Memory[136][128]
  • Q: Chimeratech Fortress Dragon was Special Summoned using Cyber Dragon and 1 Machine monster as materials, and its original ATK is 2000. If the ATK of that Chimeratech Fortress Dragon becomes 0 due to the effect of Linkuriboh, what happens to its ATK after the end of the turn
A: Its ATK returns to 2000 (the original ATK determined by its own effect).
Similarly, if the ATK of the following monsters becomes 0 due to the effect of Linkuriboh, their ATK at the end of the turn returns to the original value determined when they were Special Summoned.
- Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon
- Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess[137][128]
  • Q: The ATK of Kurikara Divincarnate has become 3000 due to its own effect. If the ATK of that Kurikara Divincarnate becomes 0 due to the effect of Linkuriboh, what happens to its ATK after the end of the turn
A: It returns to its original ATK of 1500.[138][128]
  • Q: I activated the effect of Goblin Rider Boon the Machspeed in my hand. Furthermore, I chained a card or effect that discarded that Goblin Rider Boon the Machspeed as its cost. At this time, can I now activate the effect of that discarded Goblin Rider Boon the Machspeed as Chain Link 3 or higher
A: Yes, you can. (When resolving the effect of Goblin Rider Boon the Machspeed at Chain Link 1, you still detach 1 Xyz Material from a monster on the field.)[139][128]
  • Q: I activated the effect of Infernoid Decatron, and it gained the name and effects of Infernoid Attondel and its Level increased by 8. If the effects of that Infernoid Decatron are negated by Skill Drain afterward, what happens to its applied effect?
A: The Level of Infernoid Decatron returns to normal, but its name remains "Infernoid Attondel".
Also, it will still have the effects of Infernoid Attondel, but those gained effects will be negated by Skill Drain. (If the effect that allows it to attack a second time is activated, it will be negated. Also, if you activate the effect that banishes a card from your opponent's GY by Tributing a different monster, it will be negated, but if you activate that effect by Tributing Infernoid Decatron itself, it will not be negated by Skill Drain.)
Similarly, the following monsters will retain the gained original names if their effects are negated after being applied.
- Performapal Bot-Eyes Lizard
- Crystal Rose
- Genex Spare
- Genex Recycled[140][141]
  • Q: When resolving the effect of Astrograph Sorcerer in my hand, how can I choose a monster "that was destroyed this turn"
A: When applying the effect of Astrograph Sorcerer, choose 1 monster from among the following:
● A monster in either player's GY that was destroyed and sent to the GY this turn.
● Either player's monster that is banished face-up, and was destroyed and banished this turn.
● Either player's monster that is banished face-up, and was destroyed and sent to the GY this turn, and then banished face-up from the GY.
● A face-up Pendulum Monster in either player's Extra Deck that was destroyed and added face-up to the Extra Deck this turn.
As an example, if a Pendulum Monster that was destroyed and added face-up to the Extra Deck was then Pendulum Summoned and returned to the Extra Deck again after being used as Link Material, you cannot choose that monster. Once the monster has been Pendulum Summoned, it is no longer treated as a monster that was destroyed that turn.[142][141]
  • Q: If the effect of Necrovalley is applying, can I Special Summon Sauravis, the Sagely Silenforcer Dragon from my hand using its own effect by returning cards from my GY to the Deck
A: Yes, you can.[143][141]
  • Q: While I control a Fusion Summoned Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon, my opponent Tributes that Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon to Special Summon Gadarla, the Mystery Dust Kaiju to my field. In this case, can I activate the effect of Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon that destroys all monsters my opponent controls during the End Phase
A: Its effect can be activated in either case. (Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is leaving the field because of your opponent's card.) Furthermore, Underworld Goddess of the Closed World will still be destroyed when applying the effect of Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon during the End Phase.
If the following monsters originally owned by you are Tributed to Special Summon your opponent's "Kaiju" monster, or leave your Monster Zone as material to Link Summon your opponent's Underworld Goddess of the Closed World, their effect's activation conditions of "leaving the field because of your opponent" will also be met.
- Lancea, Dragonic Ancestor of the Ice Spirit Mountain
- Gate Guardians Combined
- Gate Guardian of Water and Thunder
- Gate Guardian of Wind and Water
- Gate Guardian of Thunder and Wind
- Earthbound Servant Geo Grasha
- Chaos Archfiend
- Grapha, Dragon Overlord of Dark World
- Mannadium Prime-Heart
- Evilswarm Coppelia[144][141]
  • Q: My opponent controls a Ritual Beast Ulti-Reirautari, and its effect that prevents players from Tributing cards to activate effects is applying. If I apply the second effect of Naturia Camellia, can I still activate the first effect of Naturia Mole Cricket by sending the top 2 cards of my Deck to the GY instead of Tributing monsters
A: Yes, you can.[145][141]
  • Q: If my LP are lower than my opponent's and the following effects are chained to the first effect of my Gold Pride - Pin Baller, how does it resolve
A:
(A) The effect of Gold Pride - Pin Baller will not be negated when resolving its Chain Link, so it will resolve normally, but afterward the monster's effects will still be negated, so the cards equipped by this effect will be destroyed. (They are not considered destroyed by a card effect.)
(B) The effect of Gold Pride - Pin Baller will not be negated, and even if the effect of Spright Red was activated by Tributing a Rank 2 or Link-2 monster, the part of the effect that destroys the monster cannot be applied.
(C) The activation of the effect of Gold Pride - Pin Baller is not negated, and since the activation was not negated, it is not destroyed.[146][141]
  • Q: After activating the effect of Baronne de Fleur that negates the activation of a card or effect, another effect placed that Baronne de Fleur face-up in my Spell &; Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell. After that, if I activated the second effect of Startling Stare of the Snake-Eyes and Special Summoned that Baronne de Fleur from the Spell &; Trap Zone, will I be able to activate the second effect of Baronne de Fleur again
A: You will be able to activate that effect again. (However, even in this case, you can only use that effect of Baronne de Fleur once per turn.)
Similarly, when the following monsters are moved to the Spell &; Trap Zone, the restriction "Once while face-up on the field" for their effects is no longer considered.
- Second effect of Altergeist Adminia
- First effect of Fluffal Penguin
- First effect of Firewall Dragon
- Security Dragon[147][141]
  • Q: I activated the effect of S
P Little Knight and banished S:P Little Knight itself and a Garura, Wings of Resonant Life from my Monster Zone. If I only have one Monster Zone available during the End Phase, what happens to my 2 banished monsters
A: Choose 1 monster you want to return, return it to the Monster Zone, and place any monsters you did not choose in the GY. (If Garura, Wings of Resonant Life is not chosen and is placed in the GY, it is not treated as being sent to the GY, so its effect to draw a card cannot be activated.)[148][141]
  • Q: A Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius that was Normal or Special Summoned this turn is changed to face-down Defense Position, and then flipped face-up again. Can I now activate the effect of that Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius
A: No, you cannot. In order to activate the effect of Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius, it must remain face-up in the Monster Zone from the time it is Normal or Special Summoned until its effect activation is declared.
Similarly, the effects of the following cards that can be activated during the Main Phase can only be used if they remain face-up in the Monster Zone from the time they are Normal Summoned (or Flip Summoned, Special Summoned, or flipped face-up) until its effect activation is declared.
- Brotherhood of the Fire First - Leopard
- D/D/D Supreme King Kaiser
- Watch Dog
- Raidraptor - Sharp Lanius
- Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius
- Raidraptor - Tribute Lanius
- Raidraptor - Wild Vulture
- Raidraptor - Noir Lanius
- Junk Breaker
- Performapal Bot-Eyes Lizard
- Performapal Uni
- Performapal Corn
- Performapal Dag Daggerman
- Performapal U Go Golem
- Performapal Celestial Magician
- Kashtira Riseheart
- Angello Vaalmonica
- Dimonno Vaalmonica[149][141]
  • Q: If a Majestic Mech - Ohka that was Normal Summoned without Tributing, or a Majestic Mech - Goryu that was Normal Summoned by Tributing 1 monster, is turned to face-down Defense Position but flipped face-up before the End Phase, will its effect that sends it to the GY activate
A: Once the card is in face-down Defense Position, if it is flipped face-up before the End Phase, the effect that sends it to the GY will not activate.
If it is temporarily banished until the End Phase, the effect that sends it to the GY will still activate.[150][141]
  • Q: My Sky Striker Ace - Shizuku that was Special Summoned this turn is banished by the second effect of my opponent's S
P Little Knight. During the End Phase of that turn, when Sky Striker Ace - Shizuku returns to the Monster Zone, can I still activate its effect
A: No, you cannot. In order to activate the effect of Sky Striker Ace - Shizuku, it must remain face-up in the Monster Zone from the time it is Special Summoned until the End Phase.
Similarly, the effects of the following cards that activate (or can be activated) during the End Phase can only be used if they remain face-up in the Monster Zone from the time they are Normal Summoned (or Flip Summoned, Special Summoned, or flipped face-up) until the corresponding End Phase.
- Dark Magician of Chaos
- Gandora the Dragon of Destruction
- Majestic Mech - Senku
- Genex Neutron
- Heraldic Beast Leo
- Kuribandit
- Saffira, Queen of Dragons
- Mayosenju Daibak
- Yosenju Misak
- Yosenju Kama 1
- Yosenju Kama 2
- Yosenju Kama 3
- Yosenju Magat
- Yosenju Tsujik
- Yosenju Sabu
- Yosenju Izna
- Mayosenju Hitot
- Frontline Observer
- Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter
- Predaplant Spider Orchid
- Watch Cat
- Spirit monsters[151][141]
  • Q: If I control 1 Light and Darkness Dragon and 1 Doomcaliber Knight, and the following situations occur, what happens?

(A) A Spell Card is activated
(B) A monster effect is activated

A:
(A) The effect of Light and Darkness Dragon will activate as Chain Link 2, and the effect of Doomcaliber Knight will activate as Chain Link 3, without your opponent being able to chain anything in between. At this time, the effect of Light and Darkness Dragon will not activate as Chain Link 4. (It cannot be activated more than once per Chain.) As a result, the activation of Light and Darkness Dragon's effect is negated, so the Spell Card activated at Chain Link 1 resolves normally.
(B) First, you arbitrarily choose which effect to activate as Chain Link 2. If Chain Link 2 is the effect of Doomcaliber Knight, Chain Link 3 is the effect of Light and Darkness Dragon. In that case, the Chain Link 3 effect of Light and Darkness Dragon does nothing, and the Chain Link 2 effect of Doomcaliber Knight negates the activation of the monster effect activated at Chain Link 1 and destroys it.
If Chain Link 2 is the effect of Light and Darkness Dragon, Chain Link 3 is the effect of Doomcaliber Knight. In that case, the Chain Link 3 effect of Doomcaliber Knight does nothing, and the Chain Link 2 effect of Light and Darkness Dragon resolves. When resolving the effect, if the ATK and DEF of Light and Darkness Dragon are both 500 or more, the activation of the monster effect activated as Chain Link 1 is negated and Light and Darkness Dragon loses 500 ATK/DEF each. When resolving the effect, if either the ATK or DEF of Light and Darkness Dragon are less than 500, or if it is no longer face-up in the Monster Zone, or if it has been determined to be destroyed by battle, the Chain Link 2 effect also does nothing and the Chain Link 1 effect resolves normally.[152][153]
  • Q: While the effect of Skill Drain is applying, if I activate the effect of Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray, will it be negated?
A: It will not be negated. The text of Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray states that the activation and effect of its first effect cannot be negated, and can still be activated while the effect of Skill Drain is applying. Even if the effect of Skill Drain is applying by the time the effect resolves, that activated effect will be applied without being negated.
Similarly, even if the effects of the following monsters are activated while Skill Drain is applying, the effect will not be negated.
- The "●" effect of Number C92: Heart-eartH Chaos Dragon
- The second effect of Heavenly Zephyr - Miradora
- The first effect of Cosmic Quasar Dragon
- The first effect of Gold Pride - Pin Baller[154][153]
  • Q: The last effect of my opponent's Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames destroys my own Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames and Special Summons my opponent's to their field. After resolving the effect, can I activate the last effect of my Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames
A: No, you cannot. To activate the last effect of Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames, it must already be in your GY when a monster is Special Summoned to your opponent's field. The destruction and Special Summoning in the effect of Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames are treated as occurring simultaneously, so when your opponent's is Special Summoned, yours is not treated as being already in the GY and its activation requirements have not been met.[155][153]
  • Q: The effect of Nightmare Pain is activated, and Yubel is destroyed as a result. After resolving the effect, can the effect of Yubel that Special Summons Yubel - Terror Incarnate be activated
A: Yes, it can. When resolving the effect of Nightmare Pain, the part of the effect that destroys a DARK monster in your hand or face-up field and the part of the effect that adds a "Yubel" monster from your Deck to your hand are treated as occurring simultaneously. Therefore, it is treated as if nothing occurred after Yubel was destroyed, so you can activate its last effect in a new Chain.[156][153]
  • Q: When the effect of Serpentine Princess is activated, what happens if Solemn Strike or the effect of Invoked Mechaba is chained
A: In either case, the activation of Serpentine Princess's effect is negated, so a Level 3 monster is not Special Summoned from the Deck, but Serpentine Princess itself remains in the Deck.
Similarly, if Solemn Strike or the effect of Invoked Mechaba are chained to the following monsters' effects that activate in the Deck or Extra Deck, the monster is not destroyed or banished.
- Elemental HERO Storm Neos
- Elemental HERO Magma Neos
- Theinen the Great Sphinx
- Dark Sage[157][153]
  • Q: Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer is face-up in my opponent's Monster Zone, and its Continuous Effect that prevents me from banishing cards is applying. In this situation, can I activate System Down
A: It can be activated as long as there is a Machine monster in your opponent's Monster Zone. Furthermore, if the effect of Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer is applying when the effect of System Down resolves, only the Machine monsters your opponent controls will be banished. If there are no Machine monsters in your opponent's Monster Zone and only in their GY, you cannot activate System Down.[158][159]
  • Q: Necrovalley is face-up in the Field Zone. In this situation, can I activate Rage with Eyes of Blue
A: It can be activated. Furthermore, if the effect of Necrovalley is applying when the effect resolves but there are any cards in your GY, the effect of Rage with Eyes of Blue will be one that applies to a card in the GY, so its effect is negated.[160][159]
  • Q: If the Continuous Effect of G.B. Hunter is applying, can the third effect of Deskbot Base be activated? Also, what happens if the effect of G.B. Hunter is applying when that effect resolves
A: It can be activated as long as there is at least 1 card in your opponent's hand or GY. If the effect of G.B. Hunter is applying when the effect of Deskbot Base resolves, shuffle all cards in your opponent's hand and GY into the Deck.[161][159]
  • Q: While the effect of Necrovalley is applying, I Synchro Summoned a Crystron Phoenix. In this case, can I activate the first effect of Crystron Phoenix
A: The effect can be activated as long as your opponent has a Spell/Trap Card on field. Furthermore, if the effect of Necrovalley is still applying when you resolve the effect but there are any Spell/Trap Cards in your opponent's GY, the effect of Crystron Phoenix will be one that applies to a card in the GY, so its effect is negated. If there are no Spell/Trap Cards in your opponent's GY when resolving the effect of Crystron Phoenix, all Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls are banished.[162][159]
  • Q: Can I activate Terror of Trishula if the effect of Necrovalley is applying
A: It can be activated in the following situations.
● If you control 1 or 2 face-up "Ice Barrier" Synchro Monsters with different names, and your opponent controls at least 1 card.
● If you control 3 or more face-up "Ice Barrier" Synchro Monsters with different names, and your opponent controls at least 1 card or has at least 1 card in their hand.[163][159]
  • Q: A Normal Summoned Phantom of Chaos activated its effect and gained the effects of Segmental Dragon. If there is a face-up monster in my opponent's Main Monster Zone with 2600 or less ATK, can I activate the effect of Segmental Dragon gained by Phantom of Chaos
A: It can be activated. In that case, Phantom of Chaos is destroyed, and all face-up monsters in the Main Monster Zones with 2600 or less ATK are destroyed.
If the following monsters that were Normal Summoned gained the effects of Segmental Dragon, they can also activate that effect if there is at least 1 other face-up monster in the Main Monster Zone with ATK less than or equal to their ATK.
- The Tyrant Neptune
- Neo-Spacian Dark Panther[164][159]
  • Q: A Fusion Summoned Starving Venom Fusion Dragon activates its effect and gains the effects of Time Wizard of Tomorrow. In that case, can Starving Venom Fusion Dragon activate the effect gained from Time Wizard of Tomorrow
A: Yes, it can.
If the following monsters that were Fusion Summoned gained the effects of Time Wizard of Tomorrow, they can also activate that effect.
- Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom
- Starving Venemy Dragon
- Windwitch - Crystal Bell[165][159]
  • Q: If Phantom of Chaos or Neo-Spacian Dark Panther were Special Summoned from the hand and gained the effects of Creator of Chaos, can the gained effect be activated
A: Yes, it can.[166][159]
  • Q: Exodia, the Legendary Defender, which was Normal Summoned by its own method of Tributing 5 monsters, is banished temporarily by the effect of Interdimensional Matter Transporter. When Exodia, the Legendary Defender returns to the field during the End Phase, what happens to its ATK/DEF? Also, if that Exodia, the Legendary Defender destroys a DARK Fiend monster owned by my opponent by battle, will I win the Duel
A: When Exodia, the Legendary Defender returns to the Monster Zone, its ATK/DEF each become 0. Also, if that Exodia, the Legendary Defender destroys a DARK Fiend monster owned by your opponent by battle, you will win the Duel.[167][159]
  • Q: If my Slifer the Sky Dragon and an opponent's monster are Special Summoned at the same time by the effect of Albion the Sanctifire Dragon, will the effect of Slifer the Sky Dragon activate
A: It will not activate. In order to activate the last effect of Slifer the Sky Dragon, another monster must be Special Summoned in face-up Attack Position while Slifer the Sky Dragon is already face-up in the Monster Zone.
Similarly, when activating the following monster effects, the activation requirements are only met if another monster is Special Summoned while that monster is already face-up in the Monster Zone. (These effects will not activate if the monsters are Special Summoned at the same time.)
- Red-Eyes Soul
- Lord Gaia the Fierce Knight
- Amazement Administrator Arlekino
- The Iris Swordsoul
- Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate
- Gizmek Uka, the Festive Fox of Fecundity
- Meklord Astro Dragon Asterisk

  • Q: If the effect of Imperial Iron Wall is applying, will the effect of Caius the Shadow Monarch activate when it is Tribute Summoned? Also, if the effect of Imperial Iron Wall is applying, will the effect of Caius the Mega Monarch activate when it is Tribute Summoned
A: The effects of Caius the Shadow Monarch and Caius the Mega Monarch are Trigger Effects that must be activated when they are Tribute Summoned. Even if the effect of Imperial Iron Wall is applying, their effects will activate and start a Chain. However, since cards cannot be banished due to the effect of Imperial Iron Wall, no card can be targeted, and the effects of Caius the Shadow Monarch and Caius the Mega Monarch are not applied when they resolve.[169][170]
  • Q: In each of the following situations, can I activate the second effect of Nekroz of Sophia
A: In the (A) situation, the effect of Nekroz of Sophia can be activated. If the effect of Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer is applying when the effect resolves, only the cards on the field are banished.
Even in the (B) situation, the effect of Nekroz of Sophia can be activated. If the effect of Necrovalley is applying when the effect resolves, and there are any cards in either GY, the effect of Nekroz of Sophia will be one that applies to cards in the GY so it is negated. (Cards on the field aren't banished either.) When resolving the effect of Nekroz of Sophia, if there are no cards in either GY, all cards on the field are banished.[171][170]
  • Q: If the effects of Anti-Spell Fragrance or Diabellz of the Original Sin are applying, can I activate the Pendulum Effect of Wisdom-Eye Magician
A: Yes, you can. (If activated, the effect is applied normally.) Placing a Pendulum Monster into your Pendulum Zone with the effect of Wisdom-Eye Magician is not treated as activating a Spell Card.[172][170]
  • Q: When the second effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda is activated, will the effect of Magical Meltdown be applied
A: No, it will not apply. Even if a Fusion Summon is performed due to the effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda, it was not treated as "an effect that Fusion Summons a Fusion Monster" and so the effects of Magical Meltdown, Dragonroid, and Branded Lost are not applied.
For example, if your opponent activated Solemn Strike, the activation of the effect of Predaplant Verte Anaconda would be negated. Even if the Fusion Summon was successful, your opponent could activate card effects at that point.
The same applies if the following effects are activated and a Fusion Summon is performed.
- Junk Collector
- Witchcrafter Genni
- Dinomorphia Kentregina
- Dinomorphia Reversion
- Dual Avatar Compact
- Fake Feather
- Trap of Darkness
- Fusion Duplication
- Transaction Rollback[173][170]
  • Q: If I Fusion Summon Ancient Gear Megaton Golem using Ancient Gear Dark Golem as a material, will that Ancient Gear Dark Golem be treated as Ancient Gear Golem for the Fusion Summon
A: If the first effect of Ancient Gear Dark Golem is applying when it is used as Fusion Material for Ancient Gear Megaton Golem, it will be treated as using Ancient Gear Golem as a material.
For example:
● If a face-up Ancient Gear Dark Golem is used as material
● If an Ancient Gear Dark Golem in the GY is used as material
If the first effect of Ancient Gear Dark Golem is not applying when it is used as material for Ancient Gear Megaton Golem, it will not be treated as using Ancient Gear Golem as a material.
For example:
● If an Ancient Gear Dark Golem in the hand or Deck is used as material
● If a face-down Defense Position Ancient Gear Dark Golem is used as material
● If an Ancient Gear Dark Golem whose first effect is negated is used as material[174][170]
  • Q: Vaalmonica Disarmonia is banished for the cost of the last effects of Angello Vaalmonica or Dimonno Vaalmonica. In that case, how is its effect applied
A: The part of the effect that places a Resonance Counter on a card in your Pendulum Zone is not applied, but the appropriate "●" effect will be applied.
If you activated the effect of Angello Vaalmonica, apply the effect "● Gain 500 LP, then you can add 1 of your banished "Vaalmonica" cards to your hand, except "Vaalmonica Disarmonia"."
If you activated the effect of Dimonno Vaalmonica, apply the effect "● Take 500 damage, then you can add 1 "Vaalmonica" card from your GY to your hand, except "Vaalmonica Disarmonia"."[175][170]
  • Q: Minerva, Lightsworn Athena is face-up in my Monster Zone, and its effect ""Lightsworn" monsters you control cannot be banished by card effects" is applying. In this situation, can I activate the effect of Enlightenment Dragon that banishes all other cards on the field and in the GYs
A: It can be activated as long as there is a card present that can be banished. (In this context, a card "that can be banished" refers to any card other than one that explicitly "cannot be banished" due to an effect. For example, a monster that is unaffected by monster effects would not be banished as a result, but for this purpose it is still counted as a monster that can be banished.)
Examples include the following situations.
● Your opponent controls at least 1 card.
● There is at least 1 card in either GY.
However, if there are no cards in either GY, and the only other cards on the field are your Minerva, Lightsworn Athena and other face-up "Lightsworn" monsters, there are no cards present that can be banished, so the effect of Enlightenment Dragon cannot be activated.[176][170]
  • Q: Can I add Nightmare Throne to my hand with the effect of Spirit of Yubel
A: No, you cannot.
A Spell/Trap Card that mentions Yubel that you can add to your hand with the effect of Spirit of Yubel refers to a Spell/Trap with the specific card name "Yubel" written in its text. The text of Nightmare Throne refers to "Yubel" monsters, which are any monsters with "Yubel" in their names, and does not refer specifically to the card named "Yubel".
Therefore, when you activate the effect of Spirit of Yubel, you cannot choose Nightmare Throne as the card to add to your hand.
Similarly, you cannot add Nightmare Throne to your hand with the effect of Nightmare Pain.[177][170]
  • Q: Even if I don't have any cards in my Pendulum Zone that can have Resonance Counters on them, can I still activate the monster effects of Angello Vaalmonica or Dimonno Vaalmonica by banishing Vaalmonica Disarmonia as cost
A: Yes, you can.[178][170]
  • Q: At the start of the Damage Step when a monster battles, I activate the effect of Tenpai Dragon Fadora and Special Summon Tenpai Dragon Zhongdora. In this case, can I activate the effect of the Special Summoned Tenpai Dragon Zhongdora that Special Summons a Level 4 or lower FIRE Dragon monster from the Deck
A: No, you cannot. Trigger Effects that must be activated "at the start of the Damage Step" can only be activated in the first Chain at the start of the Damage Step. Therefore, the effect of the Special Summoned Tenpai Dragon Zhongdora cannot be activated after the effect of Tenpai Dragon Fadora has resolved.[179][170]
  • Q: If the effects of Anti-Spell Fragrance or Diabellz of the Original Sin are applying, can I activate the last effect of The Bystial Lubellion
A: Yes, you can. (When it resolves, even if the effects of Anti-Spell Fragrance of Diabellz of the Original Sin are still applying, the effect is applied normally.) Placing a "Branded" Continuous Spell/Trap on the field with the effect of The Bystial Lubellion is not treated as activating a Spell/Trap Card.[180][170]
  • Q: I activated Pot of Prosperity this turn, and cannot draw cards by card effects. Can either player activate Silence Towards the Future this turn
A: Each player can activate it under any of the following circumstances.
● It is outside of the Battle Phase
● It is the Battle Phase but they do not control Gold Sarcophagus of Light
● It is the Battle Phase and they control Gold Sarcophagus of Light, but do not control a face-up monster in their Monster Zone that mentions Gold Sarcophagus of Light
It cannot be activated by either player in the following situation.
● It is the Battle Phase, and they control both Gold Sarcophagus of Light and a face-up monster in their Monster Zone that mentions Gold Sarcophagus of Light[181][170]
  • Q: Bacha the Melodious Maestra is face-up in my Monster Zone, and its effect "Your "Melodious" Fusion Monsters' activated effects cannot be negated while you control this Fusion Summoned card" is applying. In this situation, if I activate the effect of Schuberta the Melodious Maestra, but the effect of Infinite Impermanence has been applied to it, what happens
A: The effect will banish the targeted cards without being negated. Furthermore, it gains 200 ATK for each card banished, but that part effect immediately stops applying. (Unless other effects are applying, the ATK of Schuberta the Melodious Maestra will be 2400.) After the turn ends, the ATK increase from the effect will not be reapplied. (Unless other effects are applied, the ATK of Schuberta the Melodious Maestra remains 2400.)[182][170]
  • Q: When a Link Summon is performed using the effect of I
P Masquerena, can I activate the second effect of Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended
A: If the effect of I:P Masquerena was activated as Chain Link 1, the effect of Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended can be activated to negate the Link Summon. If the effect of I:P Masquerena was activated as Chain Link 2 or higher, the effect of Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended cannot be activated.
The following effects also cannot be activated when a monster is Normal Summoned, Synchro Summoned, Xyz Summoned, Pendulum Summoned, or Link Summoned by an effect that was activated as Chain Link 2 or higher.
Monsters:
- Thunder King Rai-Oh
- Steelswarm Roach
- T.G. Halberd Cannon

- Chaos Trap Hole
- Pendulum Hole
- Vanquishing Light

- Solemn Judgment
- Solemn Warning
- Solemn Strike
- Solemn Scolding
- Champion's Vigilance
- Dream Mirror Oneiromancy
- Paradox Fusion
- Majespecter Tempest[183][170]

A: When "Cyberdark Impact!" resolves, "Cyberdark Horn", "Cyberdark Edge", and "Cyberdark Keel" are shuffled into the Deck from your hand, field, or GY as materials for the Fusion Summon. Therefore, in this scenario, if you do not have a "Cyberdark Horn" that was already on your field before the effect of "Prohibition" started applying, "Cyberdark Horn" cannot be used as Fusion Material, so you cannot activate "Cyberdark Impact!".[184]

Fusion Tag needs fixing.
