Gaming.Wikia.com[edit]

  • Articles of Video Games
    • Actual information, ratings, minimum specifications
      • PC games should list both Minimum and Recommended Specifications
      • ESRB, USK, PEGI, BBFC, ACB, OFLC and former VSCE Ratings should be noted.
      • Online Requirements (if present), and DLC should also be noted for each game.
      • Each console to have Unique ID for images of games. PSone = PSX, Xbox 360 = X360, Xbox One = XB1, Sega Master System = SMS, Sega Saturn = SAT, etc.
      • Region system also to be used for images. JP = Japan, NA = USA & Canada, EU = European, GB = British, OE = Oceania. Other region-specific images subject to their own codes.
      • Game Patches allowed to be listed.
  • Articles of Video Game Consoles, and specific hardware accessories.
  • Not to include Walkthroughs. Cheats & Cheat Codes *possibly* OK.
    • Delete any articles concerning Game Codes and/or cheats. Too widely abused.
  • Document gaming companies, publishers, and studios.
  • Document individual game developers and employees. No statute on age or notoriety, but must be verifiable.
  • Additional gaming software, including distribution systems.
  • Link to other Wikia Wikis on pages in addition to content.
  • Gaming events and conventions. E3 and Eurogamer especially.
  • No limit to age of systems covered.
  • No links to abandonware.
  • Games are not to be covered in-depth. "The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker" would be an acceptable article name; "Rupee", the in-game currency, would not. Videogame characters are also not to be listed, however, exceptions may be made for characters that have been critical to video game history (such as Sonic the Hedgehog, or Mario). Characters, etc, are to be inter-wiki linked from the various gaming communities across Wikia.
  • Scope for Game Mods and Total Conversions to be documented. System not yet defined for doing so. Could well be a separate community.
  • Where references are made to either hardware or software, if not directly gaming-related, they are to be interwiki-linked to either tech.wikia.com or software.wikia.com to reduce reliance on Wikipedia.
  • Downgrade Forums 2.0 to Forums 1.0, correct link in left-hand sidebar.
  • Delete every single article in the Editorial namespace. Complete waste of space.
  • Complete overhaul of templates
  • Redesign of Monobook and Oasis skins.

Tech.Wikia.com[edit]

  • Merge pc.wikia.com into tech.wikia.com
  • All hardware-based Technology articles to go here.
  • Covers console, PC, and Mac hardware.
  • Also covers consumer electronic hardware. Mobile Phones also included.
    • Including PC Hardware, and individual hardware components that may be used in gaming systems.
    • Technology companies go here.
  • Link to other Wikia Wikis on pages in addition to content.
  • Move software articles into Software.Wikia.com
  • Potentially merge niche/unproductive/failing/stagnating wikis into this one:
    • bushytree.wikia.com

Software.Wikia.com[edit]

  • Merge software-related articles of pc.wikia.com into software.wikia.com.
  • Merge some dead communities into this one.
  • All software-based articles, including non-gaming Software, and Operating Systems (Mac, Windows, Linux, UNIX, BSD Unix, etc).
  • Companies with a specific primary focus on Software go here (usually smaller ones, larger ones would probably end up on Tech.wikia)
  • Programming Languages can also go here.
    • Link to specific Wikis for more in-depth information on specific languages.
  • Link to other Wikia Wikis on pages in addition to content; links to Wikis on Wikia should not replace articles about games.
  • Potentially merge niche/unproductive/failing/stagnating wikis into this one:
    • linux.wikia.com
    • apple.wikia.com
    • microsoft.wikia.com
    • mozilla.wikia.com
    • google.wikia.com
    • openbsd.wikia.com
  • Links to open-source software encouraged.

Common Tasks[edit]

  • Massive clean-up of all articles.
  • Disable article comments, blogs, achievements, and message walls, until content is stabilised enough for attention to be focused elsewhere. Undecided on Polls, will most likely disable until content is stabilised.
  • Get all forums up and running, using Forums 1.0 for now, due to ability to created multi-level forum systems.
  • Mantain article layout consistency between both Oasis and Monobook skins. Articles should be equally viewable in both.
