Holofoil Angel playing cards[edit]

We want pictures of both versions of the cards that have holofoil versions, so please upload them both when you find them.

Uff! The holofoil versions are very difficuly to find!
They are more common in japanese sources, but there is very difficult to get good images.
BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 03:53, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Don't worry too much about tracking down every single one, just get the ones you run across. There's no deadline, so we can wait however long it takes for images to pop up.

Marusho stickers[edit]

I have a bunch of images of these on my computer from when I was trawling online for the highest-quality images I could find; if you don't mind, can you hold off on uploading more until I've optimized and uploaded my own images, just so there's no repeated effort?

No problem!
One thing, would a page be created for the #Yu-Gi-Oh! 1998 amada Toei Animation Shueisha" Set of stickers?. I found next to no info about that set, but plenty of stiickers/boxes being sold(54 in total i think) in e bay:

Yes, if you'd like to create a page for it, go for it! The reason I deleted the previous page is because it was copied from Fandom (Yu-Gi-Oh! Toei Animation Shueisha Amada), which isn't allowed.
In general we're still missing pages for a lot of Toei-era merchandise, so anything you'd like to do there would be welcome. =)
Dinoguy1000 22:12, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
I've gotten all of my images uploaded, so feel free to continue. Note that a number of my images aren't very good quality, so if you think you can replace anything, go for it! (Note that "not good quality" doesn't just mean "small resolution"; a smaller-resolution replacement can be considered better quality if it improves on the original image in terms of lighting, angle, image sharpness, or even things like the physical condition of the card/sticker.)

For the series 1 Marusho stickers, does there seem to be any "canonical" order for them, from what you've seen? If not, I'd suggest that we should sort them alphabetically (probably while keeping the gold/silver stickers listed separately from the others). Also, I've noticed that some of the series 1 stickers have a holofoil effect; do you have any idea which ones have this (or is it all of them)? If it's only a certain subset of them, those should probably also be listed separately. (And of course, any reorganization to the list should also be carried over to the gallery.)

With the Series 1, I didn't find any kind of "canonical" order, numeration or even standar names. There are only the images plus the ATK/DEF stats (using milleinum puzzles).
Yeah, I think the alphabetic order is good for this set, once I found all the relevant stickers (there are no lists, and i keep finding more of them)
The holofoil effect; I still don't know if there are variants for all the normal stickers or only for a specific subset(I only found holofoil version for 5-7 stickers). I need time to check a better sample and arrive to a conclusion about that feature.
BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 09:31, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
From my research, i finally find some kind of list. According to the great job of this japanese collector : https://mobile.twitter.com/sasuke_tcg/status/1105042590326448130
The set 1 consisted on:
-12 gold stickers (i found them all)
-12 silver sticker (i listed them all)
-12 holofoil prism stickers (They are a different subset than the normal ones, One oe two are very similar to a normal variant and that created confusion
-36 normal stickers (i need to track 2 of them)
In total there are 72 stickers in the Marusho set series 1. They don't have any kind of name or number, and I think that they should have an ad-hoc name and should be listed by alphabetic order.A subset for theholofoil variant will be created soon.
BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 08:17, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Ooh, nice find! It's very satisfying that there's an equal number of each of the "special" types of stickers. I guess now we need to determine which/how many of the stickers in the series 2 set are also holofoil.
According to the same source, the series 2 has 12 holofoil stickers :https://mobile.twitter.com/sasuke_tcg/status/1109370048861204485 BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 14:17, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Marking images for deletion[edit]

If you have images that you think should be deleted, please add {{delete}} to the page. Otherwise, it's unlikely any admin will find that the image needs to be deleted. --SnorlaxMonster 02:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the advice.BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 04:02, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Image dimensions[edit]

I've noticed that the dimensions on quite a few of your uploaded images are exactly 424 x 599 px; are these really the size of the images as you find them, or have you been resizing them? If the latter, please stop doing that; we prefer images to be uploaded at their original dimensions (the only real exception is for really large images, which can be scaled down to a more reasonable size before uploading).

Ok, i didnt know. What is the maximum size allowed for the images?BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 20:40, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
There is no hard cutoff or anything, but anything larger than maybe a couple thousand pixels on each side is probably not going to be more useful to readers for being larger. If you don't want to scale anything down, though, that's fine too, in which case you'll only be limited by the filesize limit as shown on Special:Upload (currently 20 MB, though this may change in the future without warning, so it doesn't hurt to double-check it once in a while).

Toei-era merchandise[edit]

I just wanted to say thanks. Really appreciate the content you've added in this area. -- Deltaneos (talk) 10:39, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

I am very grateful to you and all the editors of Yugipedia. I returned to the game short time ago and this wiki is the best source for learning what i missed in a long time. The Yugioh Toei anime is a recent favorite of mine and the Toei-only cards have a very unique an curious charm unique in the franchise. It was surprising to learn the vast quantity of merchandise/collectors items produced in that era 1998-99.It was a very confusing and overwhelming labour. I keep finding more things:the metalic seals, the mini-cards that accompained the Bandai era toys, etc.And I still didn't went to the art-like card collections of the era. I suppose that i will return the research in the following weeks/months .Thanks for the appreciation.BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 13:19, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
I want to second Delt's sentiments here; you've been a great help to us! And yeah, I acutely feel your pain about the sheer volume of collectibles/merchandise - every time I turned around on the occasions I'd look for particular Toei-era items, I'd stumble across yet another product that needed (and often still needs) documented.
You of course shouldn't just be expected to do all of this work, but for however long you want to continue, we'll definitely welcome your edits!
Also really liking and appreciative of seeing all this "Yugioh pre-history" being added to the wiki and enjoying seeing all these as they are added. After my friend and I put up the top gum card pages, we were hoping more stuff like it would be explained and shown too. Toei put out so much stuff (even in salmon too it seems haha) and it was hard to know what was what, when just seeing random bits of it pop up all over the place. So it's really awesome to finally have someone make sense of all and know what's going on. Neonrideraryeh (talkcontribs) 15:29, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
I have some problem with a particular kind of mini-cards of the Toei period:
Mystery card aphrodite toei.png
Mistery card Aphrodite.png
This kind of collectable card keeps elluding me. This is the front and backing of an Aphrodite card.
I read very questionable suggestioned that this card is a kind of "Toei mini-card" released with some kind of candy, perhaps by the company Meiji.Could someone translate this one, please? It is possible that the producer is listed in the back or in the front.
Thanks.BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 19:47, 8 October 2022 (UTC)BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 19:49, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
Unfortunately, there's nothing in the card's text that is particularly helpful.
The back of the card says Attribute: WATER, ATK: 1000, DEF: 2300, then has the trait 『弱き者を守る美と愛の女神。 (The goddess of beauty and love that protects the weak. The guardian spirit of Water-alignment monsters.) The first sentence matches the Bandai Carddass card. The copyright notice says 『©高橋和希/集英社・テレビ朝日・電通・東映アニメーション』 (©Kazuki Takahasi / Shueisha, TV Asahi, Dentsu, Toei Animation). --SnorlaxMonster 05:15, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Gallery of Yu-Gi-Oh! Collection figures[edit]

Can you explain why you blanked Gallery of Yu-Gi-Oh! Collection figures? From what I can see of the last non-blanked revision, there are several images already uploaded; since these are card images, I'm guessing you accidentally created the mini-cards gallery at this title instead? In that case, I can rename the page for you (and in the future you can note that something needs renamed by using the {{Rename}} template).

It was a mistake: the page was intended to be about the cards https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Gallery_of_Yu-Gi-Oh!_Collection_mini-cards. And i wrongly created the page of the figurines in a haste: https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Gallery_of_Yu-Gi-Oh!_Collection_figures. Thanks for the advise on the {t|Rename}} template.I will create an skeleton of the figures too, please, dont delete the blank page.BishopTurpin (talkcontribs) 20:11, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
It'll take a bit of doing, but I'll move the mistaken edits to the correct title.

GeoLog Project[edit]

Hi, just wanted to give you a bit of a heads up about the GeoLog Project (the Japanese Geocities archive), which you have been citing extensively in your much-appreciated work. According to the notice on their homepage (English version, although note it is substantially abbreviated), the site will shut down at the end of December and just redirect to the Wayback Machine.

All of the relevant pages should also be in the Wayback Machine, so no pages should be lost, but it may affect the way you browse these pages. I don't think it's a problem to continue citing the GeoLog Project, but I wanted to make sure that this impending closure does not take you by surprise. --SnorlaxMonster 05:21, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
