I have replaced several OCG-to-TCG redirects myself; I think the de facto policy originally was to give priority to the TCG, but a lot of latter-day redirects remain. I don't think there's any real policy against OCG redirect names, and the concern was originally about the variety of translations for some names. But I think now it should be okay. As for your second question, I don't know if there's a real policy on that. Some people prefer alphabetical, some order of appearance. You could discuss it on the Wiki Forum here if you wanted. Danny Lilithborne 03:34, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

  • If someone gives you a hassle, I'll talk to them. (I made the redirect, btw.) Danny Lilithborne 07:51, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
    • TTF and Deltaneos compulsively choose not to leave redirects for some reason, but I don't think it would bother them if you recreated it. Danny Lilithborne 07:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Card Appearances:Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6[edit]

You said to leave a reason on your talk page in case I reverted your edit. Axel Brodie did have this card in his Deck when he dueled Jaden for the first time, when he was sent by Professor Viper. At some point in the Duel, he was looking through his Deck, and you can catch a glimpse of that card.PoirotH 10:23, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

Well, in that subbed episode, did he, at any time, looked through his Deck due to an effect?PoirotH 17:42, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

Well, it is true that I based my statement on the dub version; I didn't take into consideration the fact that they might have changed some cards like in the past.PoirotH 17:49, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for checking; and I also want to thank you for all the appearances you've added, I realize it must be quite tedious and tiring.PoirotH 17:54, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

I also watched both the dubbed and original episode, but I also didn't see it. Yet I swear I've seen it in his Deck; maybe it was in a different episode.PoirotH 07:48, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks.PoirotH 15:56, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

I also watched every episode (dubbed and subbed) of every possibility that O'Brien might show his cards, but I had the same results. Maybe I was just imagining it. In any case, I think we should just drop this until thee matter makes itself know again. No sense twisting our heads for something that most likely never happened.PoirotH 06:10, December 17, 2009 (UTC) Sure, if there wasn't any evidence, than it's the obvious thing to do.PoirotH 17:44, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

A couple of questions from the Community Team[edit]

Hi, Thanks for all of your work here on Wikia. We are constantly working to improve our site for users, and would love to get some feedback from you. Below are a couple of questions. If you could answer them here, on my talk page or send me an email with your responses, I would really appreciate it.

  1. Have you ever used our Help pages?
  2. If so, did you find them useful?
  3. How would you suggest improving them?
  4. Have you ever tried to contact Wikia staff for help?
  5. Did you find the help you needed?

Thank you and happy editing!Sarah<staff /> (talk 02:27, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Moving pages[edit]

When you move a page, please remember to move all of its "other card information" pages too. i.e. its rulings, gallery, trivia etc. pages. Thank you. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:41, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

My sincere apologies, I wasn't aware of it.PoirotH 04:51, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Movie/10th card appearances[edit]

Okay, added. You can use |anime_10 = [[Present]] -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:19, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

You can see Card Rulings:Starlight Road for an example of how to add notes. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:35, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry. You're not pestering. Hopefully this edit should explain things. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:51, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Weird infobox glitch[edit]

The episode 155 article mistakenly had 106 entered as its number, so both it and episode 106 were coming up when episode 106 was asked for. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:13, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that's right. It's because [[Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]] already links to the anime article and displays as "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX".
[[Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (manga)]]{{!}}Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is similiar to [[Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (manga)|Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]]. I couldn't get the latter format to work in the infobox, while adding Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (manga) to the manga appearances (down at the very bottom of the page). -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:27, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Line breaks and removal of whitepsace[edit]

The <br />s below Decklists were to create a space, when two Decklists were next to each other. They're not needed if there's only one Decklist, or if they are in seperate sections.

There is usually a space between categories and whatever text or table is above them, so it's easier to see where they start. The reason why so many pages are missing that spcae is because we were using the CategorySelect tool for a while, which had editors editing the categories seperate from the rest of the article and got rid of any space between them whenever the page was edited. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:02, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

... But there's only 1 category manually added to the Valon article. I added the space between the notes and the navbox and one between the navbox and the category. Are you counting the navbox as a category? I added a space between each, because they were all completely different things and the spaces make it easier to see where each starts and finishes.
If there had been more than one category, they wouldn't need a gap between each.
i.e. use
[[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh!]]
[[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]]
but not
[[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh!]]

[[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]]
or
[[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh!]] [[Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX]]
-- Deltaneos (talk) 01:17, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
Oh yeah. <br /> is also used to seperate Decklists and navboxes. The reason it wasn't on the Valon article, was they already have a Notes section between them. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:19, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

No. of Decks needed for a seperate article[edit]

There's no actual policy on the amount needed. I did flag the three examples you gave for deletion shortly after they were created. Most responses I got were people saying "please don't delete this article", without giving any reason why not and people who didn't realise that the content would be moved back to the character's main article if the page got deleted. I didn't get much support for the deletions, so I left them alone. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:36, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Not really. Having additional user rights doesn't make you in charge. It just means that you've been trusted to use the extra access fairly. It's not fair for me to delete something if the rest of the community want to keep it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:48, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Novelization of PoL[edit]

I wasn't the one who originally added the complete Movie Decks, but yes the novel gives both Kaiba and Yugi's complete Decklists... as well as Pegasus'. You can see them here. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:41, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2004 parameter[edit]

Ah yes. Thanks for spotting. The video game article is at Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2004. The infobox should link there now. -- Deltaneos (talk) 04:26, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, fixed. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:24, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Try adding ?action=purge to the end of the urls of the pages in question. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:35, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Episode articles[edit]

The airdates use an inline query. The infobox doesn't automatically display whatever is entered in the airdate parameter. It asks what value the page is using for Japanese air date and then shows that. When you made the edit there was currently no value specified (at least not until after you'd hit save), so it was still showing the airdate from the previous revision. To clear the cache on the page, you can either make an edit to the page, or action=purge it.

All that may seem kind of pointless when we can just get to immediatly show whatever is entered for "japanese air date". The reason is so that regardless of what format the date is entered "January 15, 2001", "15 January 2001", "2001 January 15", "2001-01-15" etc. It will show up in the format the user has specified in their preferences.

If you think that's not worth it for the most recent value not displaying immediatly, I can change the infobox to show whatever value is specified, if you want.

The show stars sections, I think predates my time on this site. I think they were just copied from Wikipedia or tv.com. I don't think the credits on English episodes distinquish between guest and starring roles. I don't know about the Japanese. If people are just guesing who they think is considered to be a star, supporting or guest role, I believe it should be dropped. If the Japanese credits makes that distinction, maybe a collapsible section in the infobox could be given to them. -- Deltaneos (talk) 09:03, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Minor thing - record box or prose first?[edit]

I think it works best if the box done before the prose. This way it appears next to the text, rather than below it, creating a lot of unnecessary whitespace. -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:09, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Embedded Youtube videos?[edit]

Embedding videos from the official series is copyright violation. Abridged series ones should be okay since LittleKuriboh has given fans permission to redistribute them at will. -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:22, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Re: GX Character Portals[edit]

Yes, please help if you can. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:21, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about the delayed replies. Don't expect too many major edits from me over the next few days/weeks. You're doing good.
Only idea I have for dividing the characters is "Main", "Recurring", minor humans split by season and possibly "Duel Spirits" separately. It's not as informative or exciting as dividing characters by classes, but does avoid conflicts for characters who appear in multiple groups. There's one guy in 5D's, who would theoretically go in four groups. Other wikis tend to make separate portals for such character groups. e.g. also have Portal:Obelisk Blue, Portal:Society of Light. (example). Of course, we don't have to do it that way just because other wikis do.
In my opinion, it would be better if the GX anime portal used the same layout you've used for the manga portal. I see you've copied the 5D's one, which is the earlier format. {{PortalAnimeChar|image=|articlename=|name=}} should be the right size for most GX anime images. This way we can make use of colour-coding the frames, like here, if needed.
-- Deltaneos (talk) 22:35, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
Cool. Thanks for all your work.
The cells vertically align to the centre by default. We've been using valign="top" to get around this. It's not working since you've used typographic (“curly”) quotation marks rather than typewriter ("straight") ones. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:55, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Duel Spirit appearances[edit]

I would have put those appearances on the table, without giving it a second thought, but you have a point, since Duel Spirits have separate articles than the cards. I'm not sure now. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:07, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

RE: New record box[edit]

Which is it you're suggesting that we do; make it wider or not? Making it wider would remove some of the whitespace. If you wanted to do that, then you wouldn't be telling RedDrgn not to keep making them so wide. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:52, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Overlinking and Episode Articles[edit]

There is no strict policy. I tend to only link something the first time it occurs, excluding infoboxes and some image captions. If the later time the term is used is much more significant than the first and more likely to be clicked at that time, If someone doesn't know what ATK or Dartz is, they're most likely to look it up the first time they see it, not ignore 49 links and click the 50th.

I prefer prose. It looks neater. Although the bullets do give a better depiction of when different actions take place. Which do you prefer? -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:24, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the Duel summary repeating itself in the Summary and Featured Duels sections, I had felt the same way before. I just gave brief descriptions of the significant events from Duels when I was writing 5D's summaries. Then I got to episode 18, where each move in the Duel described what was happening in the Duel Monster Spirit World. It's also a bit odd when summaries go into detail about silly jokes characters say and minor instances of text removal in the English dub, then give a very brief mention of the Duel which was the most important part of the episode. The summary section should describe how characters interact and how events are influenced by each move. The Featured Duels is for people who aren't interested in reading about the story and want a no-nonsense, uninterrupted account of what moves each person makes. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:49, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, not needed. Nobody is going to feel the urge to look up a list of monsters with 1000 ATK, after reading that Jaden Summoned "Elemental Hero Avian", who has 1000 ATK. -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:21, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

RE: For the love of Ra, don't get involved[edit]

  • Yeah, I understand your concern, but it just pisses me off when he (FredCat) goes around throwing those idiotic grade-school insults at people, believing he's superior and then cries to a mod when he gets it back at him. He's also so hypocritical in that he'll rudely point out mistakes you make when you edit things, and then, because of a hate-filled vendetta against somebody, he'll then go and revert edits that were genuine and actually made the page better. It's ridiculous. And people don't stand up to him, so I felt I had to say something. I will heed your advice and stay out of it now, though, but I thought you should know I wasn't just trying to sh!t-stir.--YamiWheeler 11:40, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
  • I think he might have thought it was genuine vandalism at first, but afterwards, he just reverted any edit GrouchMan made, without even looking at it, like the Dragons page one where a typo was fixed, and he reverted it anyway. It concerns me as well, but mostly because he's so simple-minded that it makes it difficult to reason with him, or even argue sensibly without it getting out-of-hand. I've had problems with him in the past and it really just gets frustrating trying to talk it out.--YamiWheeler 18:03, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
  • ...You're not an admin? xD I thought you were an admin, too. The peacemaker always ends up looking like an admin. I'm defo not a peacemaker, because I take the side of the person being wronged, but you stayed neutral, so yeah. xD--YamiWheeler 18:47, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Re: ArchetypeNavboxes[edit]

The navboxes automatically update themselves after you add |archetype1 = Sealed Beasts, |archsupport1 = Sealed Beasts or |archrelated1 = Sealed Beasts to the card's article. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:00, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:25, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
Trying to classify what does and doesn't belong to strange archetypes can drive one despair. I don't think "Chthonian" really counts as a series, since it's just a word randomly used to censor "Hell". "Hell" isn't always replaced with "Chthonian" and the cards where it is don't seem to have any significant connection in the Japanese version. At least not that I'm aware of. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:08, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not really sure about those either. I (unsuccessfully) try not to get involved in messy archrelated stuff. In "Gagagigo's" story those cards are related. In the game itself, they're not. Depends on whether or not people think both should be taken into account for this system or not. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:50, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! Episodes....[edit]

The infobox is set to automatically add categories with the lower case "e". When the cache clears they should all be visable in Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! episodes. Same with categories for GX episodes, 5D's episodes and all the Yu-Gi-Oh! (Duelist/Millennium World), R, GX and 5D's manga chapters. The categories don't exist despite being is used is because I haven"t got around to making them yet. "Episode" is a common noun, which is why it's in lower case. Are you against the idea of making the "e" lower case or just not a fan of needing to go through a few hundred episodes to remove categories? -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:02, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Wow that was a fast response to this and the bot forum. I can quickly clean out the categories with the bot if this works out. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:13, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
