Card Rulings and Trivia Section

Please lock up the card Rulings and Trivia section so that only certain people may edit them.Certain people can post incorrect information.Now,the Trivia page of Dark Snake Syndrome has been posted with only one word:"the".Before this,somebody messed up Dark Sage's Ruling page too.115.135.246.113 03:41, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

If rulings are locked any further, only admins would be able to edit them. If only a few chosen people can make contributions, it defeats the purpose of having a site that anyone can edit. We do get some constructive trivia page edits from anonymous editors. The more we protect pages, the less people will submit. Vandalism is easy to revert, so it's not worth blocking contributions, which could be good or bad, just to stop it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 03:55, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you need to wait a few minutes after performing two pages moves, before you can move another page. The throttle at least prevents vandals such as this one from moving more pages than they already did. When reverting page moves, if you move the main article first and tick that you want to move the talk page too, you'll move two pages at once and it'll only count as one for the throttle. -- Deltaneos (talk) 09:26, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

Overlinking and Episode Articles

Does this wiki have any policy on overlinking. Having previously been a regular contributor to Wikipedia, walls of blue text annoy me quite a lot. That being said, a lot of articles have every term that can be linked every time it appears. When editing episode articles, I tend to remove them, with the exception of card names in the "Featured Duel" section. Is this against policy? Or is there no policy?.

In addition, in episode articles, what is the preferable way to present a "Featured Duel" section. A bulleted list separated into to terms, or straight prose? Cheesedude 20:28, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

That's exactly my view on it as well, but for whatever reason, I feel putting card names in quotes without links just looks strange. As for summaries, I prefer the bulleted list, simply because it's easier to write out. In addition, prose can look sloppy if it's not put in correctly, though it certainly looks better than a list if it's used the right way. I also find it rather annoying that in some summaries, the duel is essentially transcribed word for word - and then done so again the "Featured Duel" section, so I've been more or less trimming the summary sections to be for story purposes, with a brief outline of the duel, while keeping the full outline of the duel in the next section. I'm not very familiar with 5D's, but reading the episode 18 article really makes me think that one would be the exception to the rule. Not that it shouldn't be noted in the the summary prose when something in the duel affects something else. And honestly, most of the time, it's not too big a deal, but the 10th anniversary movie article really takes the cake. That being said, I've been trying to consolidate such things by adding the "difference in adaptations" section and moving the "lulz this card does something different in the real game" notes to a separate Footnotes section. After searching, I found {{OCGTCGSet}} and {{OCGSet}}, which haven't really been edited since 2007 (though I apparently came across the first in November of last year...) and aren't used or linked from any other pages. Those templates are something TwoTailedFox had been working on. I think he abandoned them after we started documenting more languages than English and Japanese, since the extra languages made set pages more complicated.

Heavy Metal King

Hi. Just wanted to let you know I'm budging on "Heavy Metal King." Too many inconsistencies with other Metalmorphed monsters like REBMD; the transformation happens on Yugi's turn right as Johnny triggers the Trap, it gains Metalmorph's effect, and then there's the fact that all monsters affected by Metalmorph change appearance in the anime, something I totally forgot. Ally of Justice Nullfier

I really think that, if the spelling is wrong, the right one is Ally of Justice Null i fier, not Ally of Justice Nullfire. The name in the Japanese, American and European versions of WC10 is Ally of Justice Nullfier... maybe that means the name on the geocities site is a typo and the actual name is Nullfier. I don't think both names are wrong anyway. Lon3wolf 17:49, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Weird page error...

I have some strange error on my User Page where whenever I click my User Page button, the Wikia toolbox gets stuck in front of my page and the edit buttons at the bottom of every page are reversed. I have checked other User Pages and the same things happen. My browser (Which is Safari) isn't the problem either. I've used other browsers and the same thing happened. Poll introduction

I've been meaning to ask you if it were OK to introduce polls,since this is a frequently visited Wikia and it could gather a significant amount of votes for generally asked questions, like "What's your favourite Yu-Gi-Oh series?" or "Favourite main character". Gladiator Beast page

There is a minor edit war occurring on the Gladiator Beast page. Ecdt has been reverting a certain edit of mine, while defying logic in the process.
I added Elemental Hero Stratos under the recommended cards list, because it is good on several levels in a Gladiator Beast deck. It searches for Elemental Hero Prisma, it replaces itself in the hand, it is a beatstick, and has been successfully used in many competitive Gladiator Beast decks that have gotten high placings at major tournaments.
The point of the recommended cards list to give players old and new a wide card pool to help build their decks, right? There are some sub-par cards listed under the recommended cards list, but my opinion take over and remove them. Ecdt is letting his personal opinion get in the way, so could you please step in and end this pointless, petty arguement? Thanks. -bewk 22:13, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think familiarity should be a problem this time around, and hopefully I've been active enough (and specifically doing admin-level work) recently to take care of those concerns. Hello, i have a problem about a User

Hello Deltaneos, I have been having a problem with a user by the name of User:YamiWheeler. He got in an arguement with me over the Alien page and was unwilling to cooperate nor compromise. Since then, that page has been unblocked and the problem was removed, however he has made no effort to act civily towards me. It now seems that he follows my contributions in order to revert my edits. Recently, I undid an edit to the Harpie page and he posted a negative comment about me while restating exactly what I said while saying I was wrong to post such. After reading this, I asked him nicely to stop following my edits and harassing me. His responce was similar to saying "I will do what I want, ST..". Chinese characters?

Quick question

I came across some sort of template glitch in Yu-Gi-Oh! - Episode 041. Something with the piped link in the infobox is screwy, I think because "The Ties of Friendship" is also a card, in addition to the dub title for the next episode. Question about Tuners and generated lists of cards

Is there a way to make a 'Tuner?' heading for the generated lists? For example, the generated list of Reptilianne monsters shows "Name, Japanese Name, Type, Card Type, ATK, DEF, and Level" but it doesn't show in any way if there are any Tuners in the list. However, there is one - Reptilianne Viper. This is something that could help while looking to see how many Tuners are in a given Archetype while not having to look up every single monster in that Archetype to check. That seems to be the whole point of those lists. I have already discovered the generated list of Tuner monsters, however that doesn't always come to mind to attack the complete Tuner list to see if a monster has "Reptilianne" in its name when the Automatic "Reptilianne" list is usually already up.
