Re: Chaos Emperor Dragon OTK[edit]

I don't think there's need to have page for an FTK/OTK if you can either explain it in the Card Tips or in another page (in this case, Chaos). I mentioned the Yata-Garasu OTK because its how "Chaos Emperor Dragon" is most used (and you can use both strategies in the same Deck and win either by OTK or lock). You may add the "Primal Origin" strategy there too. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 04:24, February 23, 2014 (UTC)

Game Boy emulator[edit]

Just out of curiosity, what Game Boy emulator(s) do you use? The one I use, VisualBoyAdvance, has the "every opponent has a BEWD" problem with DM1, so I'm guessing it doesn't perform perfect (or good enough, rather) emulation of the hardware. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:11, May 10, 2015 (UTC)

I'm using BGB, which is the most accurate emulator for Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Visual Boy Advance is one of the worst emulators when it comes to Game Boy emulation. A problem with the memory write timing causes VBA to write some 00 00 in the CPU's deck and the card drops, that's what is causing Blue-Eyes White Dragon to be in every CPU's decks and drops. --Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 11:29, May 10, 2015 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for pointing me to it, and for explaining the problem with VBA! I'll definitely be looking more at this. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:44, May 10, 2015 (UTC)

DDS fusion data[edit]

Do you have any experience working with game ROMs? (I can never remember if you're one of the people who has been actively exploring various ROMs and their games' RAMs, or if you just work off of what those people have published so far on Data Crystal and elsewhere, hence my question.) If so, is there any chance you could convert the fusion data into a human-readable format? The "fusion material #2" and "fusion result" data are straightforward enough (though, since there's over 20,000 fusions in DDS, going through them all by hand just isn't feasible), but I don't really understand what the game is doing with the fusion materials ROM banks and fusion materials pointers to get the "fusion material #1".

If you can do this, you can dump the information at User:Dinoguy1000/DDS fusions (and it would be awesome if you could also do so for the otehr Duel Monsters games; if you can and are willing to, I can give you pages to dump that info as well). Thanks! ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:25, August 25, 2016 (UTC)

I'm the one doing Yu-Gi-Oh disassemblies :P For each Fusion Material #1, the games retrieves the ROM Bank in which the list of Fusions is stored, then retrieves the address at which the list starts in said ROM Bank. The list of Fusion Materials #2 and resulting Fusion monsters starts at 0x78004 (that is, 1D:4004), with Fusion Material #2 and Fusion result, in this order. I'm currently listing Reshef of Destruction drops, and will disassemble WC 2006 password system after this; but once I'm done with these two tasks, I'll make a script to list the Fusion data in a readable format.--Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 16:02, August 28, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, sorry about my uncertainty there; I originally sent this to another editor, hence my confusion.
I actually did figure out what was going on a little after I left this message; I was looking at the card drop stuff when I had the realization. What I find interesting is that, if I'm counting correctly, the fusion materials ROM banks and pointers data actually contain data on 801 cards, whereas the game only includes 800 cards (plus the card constructor cards, but I'm guessing (or rather, hoping) that there aren't any fusions that utilize any of them). Am I miscounting, or misinterpreting something there, or is there really data for an 801st card (and if so, is there anything you can glean about it from the ROM)?
Thanks a ton for this, and of course, finish your current plans first; it wasn't my intention to ask you to drop whatever else you had going just to do this. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:08, August 28, 2016 (UTC)
I've just added about 2/3rd of the DDS fusions right now. I'll finish tomorrow. --Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 02:19, January 5, 2017 (UTC)
Done! --Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 02:52, January 8, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks again! It's a little late for this observation now, but if I'd realized before you had your own site where you were dumping this type of stuff, I wouldn't have asked you to dump this data on-wiki, assuming just doing so on your site is easier for you.
If you have the time and interest for it, I'd also like to get the fusion data for any other games you're willing to dump it from (though again, there's no rush, so you shouldn't interpret this as me requesting that you drop whatever else you have planned to do this). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 15:53, January 8, 2017 (UTC)

ROD localisation[edit]

I see on The Cutting Room Floor, that you have accessed the localisation data for Reshef of Destruction. You wouldn't happen to have a text dump for it or any other Yu-Gi-Oh! games, for that matter? -- Deltaneos (talk) 08:46, December 17, 2016 (UTC)

I started dumping the text of Reshef. Here's the card names in 5 languages, I'll do more today / in the next few days: http://pokeplayer.com/yugioh/dm8/card_names.txt --Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 18:31, December 23, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for everything. I've created card galleries (en, fr, de, it, es), using the names you've given me and started uploading the images.
Are the card descriptions/effects something you planned on getting? I would like to create pages for the cards at some point. (I'm still undecided, as to whether each card in ROD should have its own page for just ROD or if each card should have one page that covers multiple Duel Monsters video games.)
I don't mean to put pressure on you. If you'd rather not or have other commitments, that's okay.

Game Boy Equip Cards[edit]

In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 (I assuming, it's the same for all them), do you know if each Equip Card has a list of monsters it can be equipped to or do they do things more complicated like check the Type of potential monsters to decide if they're legitimate or not? -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:01, July 16, 2017 (UTC)

In DM2 (and probably DM1, I haven't checked yet), each Equip Card has a list of monsters it can be equipped to. In DM3 and DM4, it's slightly more complicated, most Equips still use a list, but some like Winged Trumpeter or Bright Castle check the Type and/or Attribute of the monster instead. The list of monsters for each Equip Card (including an unused one from DM2) can be found at 0x1E62E-0x1FE5F, each separated by FF FF. I'll try to take a bit of time to dump that data in a nice way in the next few days I guess. --Froggy25 (talkcontribs) 03:46, September 3, 2017 (UTC)

Dark Duel Stories text[edit]

I've nearly finished uploading the card images for the different languages of Dark Duel Stories; en-na, en-eu, fr, de, it, es and ja. Since you seem to have already extracted the names from the North American English game, would it take much to get the non-English names? If you could get the card texts too that would be a bonus. I'm sorry if this another big ask, so please don't feel any pressure to accept. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:11, October 28, 2017 (UTC)
