Re: Editing names in the Search bar

You mean when you type the first few letters and are given a list of articles beginning with those letters? This is called autocomplete. It uses cached information, meaning it won't necessarily use the most up-to-date name for an article. You can't actually edit what appears in the autocomplete, it has to update itself. But for renamed pages, like the examples you've given it is taking far longer than normal to update. The same problem happens when you're editing a page and try linking to an article. i.e. typing [[ and the first first few letters gives an out-of-date autocomplete.

It's not possible for either of us to fix it, but I will contact Wikia staff and let them know. They should be able to correct it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:08, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

I got a reply today. It's a bug that's only affecting some wikis. They've been working on it for a few days and say it's definitely going to be fixed and reporting it at least helps with their testing, since they now know another wiki it's affecting. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:11, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

I'm replacing episode links with appearance templates. These templates generate episode links while saving space. It seems something is broken at Semantic MediaWiki or is being upgraded. You are correct. GetEngName relies on SMW. If you ever see GetEngName being used to get the name of a card whose official English TCG name has been confirmed, you can replace it with the name itself. This also applies when SMW is enabled. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:00, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

The box appears if it's on the wrong page, but moving it won't refresh it. So after you move it, you'll either need to leave it a while for it to eventually refresh itself; or purge it manually (if using monobook skin, button at the top that says refresh, &action=purge thing); or edit the page, do nothing and click publish. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 00:33, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

You have to update the card's main article first, though; otherwise the box still won't go away. In addition, it's not too unusual for simply refreshing/purging pages to not help; to be sure, you should always null-edit. The simplest procedure would probably be:

1. Move the card article
2. Null-edit the card article
3. Move the card info page(s) (move all of them before doing the next step!)
4. Null-edit the card info page(s)

Huge Revolution Reversal

Hi, about the page with Huge Revolution Reversal, actually I didn't change it AT ALL. I just wanted to add it to my watch list, so I "edit"ed it because I don't know an easier way to do it.

Also I don't think anyone's fixed it yet but I was looking at card galleries, and the description for Gorz the Emissary of Darkness (from the manga promos) says its secret rare when its clearly an ultra rare. I'm bad with computers so I didn't fix it but I hope someone will.

In regards to this edit summary, avoiding redirects is not necessary. There was a HUGE blow-out over the whole thing a while back. Have a look at Forum:Redirect changing: Necessary or not?. Just to be clear, there's nothing inherently wrong with bypassing redirects in most cases; I do so quite often myself. The brouhaha Cheesedude pointed you to basically boiled down to one editor rapidly making edits that consisted of nothing but bypassing redirects, and many of the redirects being bypassed being redirects that are generally agreed to be useful in articles - Set Numbers, Card Numbers, and set name and rarity abbreviations. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 02:28, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

It looks as though there was a slight lean towards bypassing those types of redirects (including a vote from you, Cheesedude, if I'm not misreading), but since there was no official stance taken, I'll switch to making that change only if I'm making other tweaks to a page an notice it. Renaming Type lists

Hey Golden Key, in light of Deltaneos' counterarguments on Forum:Anti-support card lists, I've reversed my stance and now am going to leave the "-Type" in the list names; my reasoning for removing it was purely aesthetic, whereas Delt's counterarguments are much more of a functional nature. Because of this, could you please refrain from renaming more lists? I'll move the ones you already moved back to the "-Type" names.
