Re:Royal Decree[edit]

I'm a longtime editor here, so I know enough to look up cards. I'll be more specific as to what I'm referring to:

* [[Jar of Greed]] can be successfully activated even as it is being destroyed by [[Mystical Space Typhoon]]
or cards with similar effects. The exception to this is [[Royal Decree]], since it disables other
trap cards played within the same Chain.

If you were referring to "Royal Decree" being substituted for "Jar of Greed" here, nothing changes; it can still be "successfully activated", even though its effect will only last until it's destroyed by "Mystical Space Typhoon". If "Royal Decree" is being substituted for "Mystical Space Typhoon" here, that still doesn't prevent "Jar of Greed" from being successfully activated... it just means that its effect will be negated. So I repeat, I have no clue what you were trying to say here. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 19:00, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

I mean that Royal Decree seems to be the only Magic/Trap card that can stop Jar of Greed from being used, since even if you're using Mystical Space Typhoon or Harpie's Feather Duster, the opponent can still get away with using the card to draw an extra card. Seven Tools of the Bandit can stop Jar of Greed too. --MasterMarik (talkcontribs) 19:08, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
Let me explain. If a player activates a Spell/Trap Card that doesn't remain on the field after it resolves (like a Normal Spell/Trap Card, a Quick-Play Spell Card, a Counter Trap Card, or a Ritual Spell Card), and a player chains a card effect that would destroy that Spell/Trap Card, the effect of the activated Spell/Trap Card still resolves successfully. The only way their effects won't resolve is if their effects were negated, or their activation was negated. Neither "Mystical Space Typhoon" nor "Harpie's Feather Duster" negate activations/effects, so "Jar of Greed" will still allow its activator to draw a card.
And just to confirm, what do you mean "Ominous Fortunetelling" can still function while "Royal Decree" is on the field? Does it actually resolve the entire effect, confirming the randomly chosen card in the opponent's hand? Or does it only make you pick a random card and/or declare a card type? --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 19:10, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
You can still choose the card type AND take life points if you made the right choice. This seems to happen if you activate Ominous Fortunetelling BEFORE you activate Royal Decree. Jykale (talkcontribs) 20:51, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
