Image Uploads[edit]

As per Yugipedia's image policy, please upload your images as PNG images. You can use this site if you don't know how: MadRest (talkcontribs) 15:47, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

You've been uploading video game screenshots; it's better to save these directly as PNG rather than saving them as JPG and then converting to PNG. Alternatively, if they are saved as PNG when you take them, and you've been converting them to JPG before uploading, you can simply drop a step. In general, I recommend against converting JPG images to PNG since none of the information that was lost when the image was saved as or converted to JPG can be restored, and any compression artifacts from the JPG will be faithfully preserved in the PNG. It's always better to capture an original PNG image when possible. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 22:04, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
I can replace most of those JPG format files with PNG ones easily enough, sure. Spirit Caller has a status screen where you can check your statistics against most opponents, and those come with a static screen that features opponent displays. However, that does not cover characters faced only once during the game, and replacing those files would need me to start the game from scratch. And I do not know when I will have the time to go through Spirit Caller again.
Modata (talkcontribs) 03:44, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Don't worry too much about those one-off characters, then; we're currently (slowly) working through the games too, and we can get these whenever we finally reach Spirit Caller ourselves (though that will probably be some time off, so anyone who'd like to pick up Spirit Caller themselves to replace those images is more than welcome to). ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 09:42, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
I had enough time during the last few days to play through Spirit Caller enough to get to the Duelist in Disguise event. But rather than replace the picture in Beauregard's page silently, I decided to ask if these pictures are fine. If they are, I will continue taking the screenshots this way. Modata (talkcontribs) 21:52, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Those look fine to me, as long as they're being taken at the console's native resolution (it looks like Spirit Caller is an NDS title, so that should be 256x192), and as long as you don't upload the copies from Imgur (last I checked, Imgur applies lossy compression to all uploaded images, so using images from there isn't much better than just uploading JPEGs). ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 00:42, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Took those three screenshots again, now with proper resolution. As for the imgur part, I keep the original files on my computer. I simply used imgur to upload them for previewing here because I assumed picture testing could be seen as misusing file uploads for personal purposes. Modata (talkcontribs) 22:41, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
They look good! You can start uploading at your leisure; if you'd like to upload images in batches, you can use Special:MultipleUpload (pointing it out here since it isn't linked from the sidebar's toolbox). Let me know if you need help or have any questions. =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 14:37, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

Image resolutions for uploads[edit]

I would like to know what is the desired resolution for screenshots of the PSP games.

Modata (talkcontribs) 15:54, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Whatever resolution the games run at natively. Checking the Wikipedia article, it looks like that's 480x272px. I've updated the image policy accordingly, too. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 18:38, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Missing card texts from Tag Force 6[edit] Wrote the text from the card "High and Low" in Tag Force 6. I also provided a translation. But my attempts at giving it a proper entry on my own did not go too well, so I have to leave that last part up to anyone else who might be up for it.

Modata (talkcontribs) 16:47, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Aah, the current page needs renamed first. Poke me later and I can rename and create the TF06 page, or if you'd like I can rename the page now and you can have another go at creating it. =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 22:04, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
I think I will go with the second option, if possible. Modata (talkcontribs) 22:40, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
Okay, I've renamed it and updated all links that were looking for the anime version specifically. Let me know if you need any help. =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 23:43, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
The navigation template for High and Low's pages is not connecting both of its card entries yet. (Unless that's because I accidentally deleted the redirect...) At any rate, thank you very much. I will be trying to provide the in-game text for all the game original cards introduced in Tag Force 6, as no game they were in was translated and several of their reported effects were incorrect. Modata (talkcontribs) 00:20, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
Nothing some null edits couldn't fix. =) (For the record, I started at the anime page, then null edited the main page, then finally the extra pages.)
No problem, I look forward to your additions and corrections. ^_^
ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 00:45, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
I have the card texts for the last few Tag Force 6 cards ("Red Nova", "Chain Resonator", "Mirror Resonator", "Zushin the Sleeping Giant", "Hand-Holding Genie" "Scrum Force", "T.G. Drill Fish", "T.G. Metal Skeleton", "Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent", "Fenrir the Nordic Wolf") but these cards do not have pages for their Tag Force 6 entries. It does not really matter if they get those or not, at any rate, because all of those cards have been released in the card game since and their effects stated at the time are mostly correct.
"Converging Wishes" does not show its navigation template. Modata (talkcontribs) 15:45, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
In those cases, the Tag Force 6 lores should be added directly to the pages using the tf06_lore parameter. "Red Nova" already has a Tag Force 6 lore provided, though it's the only one I looked at. Eventually Tag Force 6 (and the other Tag Force titles) will get its own card template, at which point all of these will be split out, but there's no telling when we'll actually get to these games, given we're working more-or-less chronologically currently (and are stalled out around DM7 right now).
That's a known issue; the navigation template never got quite hooked up properly in {{CardTable2}} for these cases. I've looked at it before, but it involves touching some hairy code, so I haven't actually gotten it done.
ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 19:44, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

I have begun to take a look at the character profiles in the Tag Force series. They can probably be added to each page at some point in time, but I am more concerned about how to format it. Modata (talkcontribs) 21:16, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

It occurred to me that I haven't asked this before, in spite of the discussions we've had here; would you be interested in joining the wiki's Discord server? We have a channel dedicated to our efforts to properly document video games, and you're more than welcome to contribute to any discussions there. =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 23:33, 29 December 2019 (UTC)

I have gotten drastically busier during the last few months, so I do not really have the time to add much or double-check anything. But I suppose I have no reason to say "no"? Modata (talkcontribs) 15:39, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
As with anything here, there is no demand for any particular activity level; contribute as you have the time and interest to do so. Being in the server is convenient for coordinating work and for rapid communication, though I figure you're already quite aware of those points. =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 16:30, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Tag Force birthdays and voice actors[edit]

Do you know if Tag Force characters' dates of birth are ever mentioned? And are you able to easily find the voice actor for a given character?

Basically, would you be able to help verify if this edit is correct? -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:19, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

It's okay. Seems to have just been a hoax. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:54, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
The game does not credit specific voice actors for voicing specific game original characters anywhere. The character profiles do not mention voice actors or birthdates, either.
However, I have not checked out the conversations every single character has with the player during their respective events, so some of them could be mentioning their birthdays. But I highly doubt it. It is the second time someone gives that specific character a birthdate, too, and they were different dates each time, so I am fairly sure both are fake. Modata (talkcontribs) 23:29, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

I might go over the character profiles I transcribed and add the ruby characters I skipped over. I thought it would look bad in that small space, but I tried it out and it seems to be just fine. It will just take me yet another eternity to get it done.

After that, I might go over Tag Force 1, 2 and Special, and transcribe those games' profiles. The first two games would be more of a personal curiosity matter concerning their localization, so they might not really need the full treatment... The third game has no profiles in any version.

I heavily doubt I can get any further information on World Duel Carnival. I have no way to play it at an acceptable speed regardless of the language and I cannot find finished savefiles of the original japanese version to get the character profiles, and removed characters' storylines, from. I am also unable to get proper pretty transparent .png format pictures to replace the placerholder-y ones I uploaded back in the day to replace the early magazine scans. Modata (talkcontribs) 01:05, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Went over the games. The localization is much more accurate than I expected it to be, both in character dialogue and in profile content. It actually feels pretty redundant to write the profiles in both English and Japanese. Modata (talkcontribs) 21:47, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Page renaming[edit]

The "Ryo (Tag Force)" page should probably be renamed "Kozo Nishino".

There are other pages for game original Tag Force characters that could be renamed to their Japanese names (Rei, Rio, Marcel, Ray, Dante, Rock, Simon, Hide, Andrea, Ida, Hana, Sara, Olivia, Emma, Alice) but the Ryo/Kozo Nishino page is the only one that is already misnamed in English. There is no "Ryo" in the game series. Modata (talkcontribs) 15:05, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Regarding Ryo, are you unable to access the English version of Tag Force 5 to confirm his English name? Or is he simply non-existent in the English version? --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 04:54, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
He is not called Ryo. Tag Force 4 had a character called Masaya Nakamura, who only exists in that game. Kozo Nishino replaces him in Tag Force 5 and 6, using similar Decks and taking his space in the character list. The localizations called both of them Rio for some reason. Modata (talkcontribs) 11:01, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Duel Transer[edit]

It seems the Transcenders in Duel Transer use around 200 different Decks.

There seem to be some vague data about them out there, so I will be trying to add what I can.

The catch is that I am all too aware it is bound to have mistakes here and there - a few Decklists I have already transcribed do not have the minimum 40 cards, for one - and I cannot look at the game directly to correct anything myself. So I am not exactly pleased about that.

The sheer amount of Decklists to add means I will be doing it regardless, if only to begin doing some progress on it in some aspect. But if anyone can correct anything, by all means, please go ahead. Modata (talkcontribs) 03:20, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

I spoke a little bit too soon. I do now have the chance to play the game normally, so I will eventually be able to get anything that could be desired from it. Modata (talkcontribs) 04:12, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Is there any reason you're removing the number of card types from pre-existing Decklists? For example, Trudge's Deck. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 18:43, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

...they look very off sometimes. But I will stop. Modata (talkcontribs) 19:31, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Voice actors for characters in the videogames are usually all lumped together without crediting them to their respective characters, which is why I have not listed the voice actors in the Tag Force games, but Duel Transer listed each character and their voice actor separately.

The voice actors for Surtr and Odin in the Japanese release of Duel Transer are listed as Hiroki Yasumoto (安元 洋貴, Yasumoto Hiroki) and Yuriko Yamamoto (山本 百合子, Yamamoto Yuriko), respectively, in the game's ending credits. Modata (talkcontribs) 00:34, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Voice actors added to the respective characters' pages. Rex Goodwin, Tank, Nervin, Tenzen Yanagi, Blister/Saiga, the MC, Rathie/Kurumizawa, Bruno, Lawton/Rotten, Elsworth/Mizoguchi, Andre, Breo and Jean do not have 3D models, so they have no voice clips even with duel animations on. Sherry, the Yliaster trio and all Transcenders plus Geri and Freki do have 3D models but they are also not voiced. Modata (talkcontribs) 14:41, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Duel Carnival[edit]

Being unable to find much concrete information about this game anywhere, I have begun a savefile of my own in the original release of the game.

Before I get too deep into it, I would like to know if any pictures of any of the storyline endings are available at proper image quality. A considerable inconvenience is that I can only play the game at 40% speed, so I want to minimize the amount of time I spend doing storylines that would not unlock anything for now.

I am likely to finish every single storyline eventually, but I do not know when I will be done. Modata (talkcontribs) 01:24, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

I take it that the natural screenshot resolution for the Nintendo 3DS is 400 x 240? Modata (talkcontribs) 02:24, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Sorry, but generally you leave messages on other people's Talk Pages (not your own) for people to notice your messages. This is especially the case when you're initiating a conversation. Just so you know.
I don't believe anyone has taken native screenshots of the game yet, only real-life "pictures" of their 3DS playing the game at certain scenes. I'm not sure about the native resolution of the 3DS. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:47, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Apparently the native resolution of the top screen is 400×240 pixels (for each eye, in order to produce the 3D effect - technically 800x240 as a result, but that's not what we want). Bottom screen is 320x240 pixels. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 04:00, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Thinking about things a bit, I am really not sure why I did not leave these messages in the game's own main page instead. The idea of writing on someone else's Talk Page for this topic eluded me completely... I apologize. Modata (talkcontribs) 19:51, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello. I have noticed that the ending images for the JP only WDC game story mode characters were put up by you. If that's the case, I would like to ask you about them. As soon as possible would be preferable. Thank you. YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 16:48, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

I would not mind, but it would perhaps be a little bit more organized if you created an account. There are many stories, after all. Modata (talkcontribs) 15:48, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
If we could, I'd like to go over this on my talk page. That's what you want to do, right? YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 17:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Number 96 breaks out of Astral at the beginning of the story and poses as him for most of it, trying to turn people into his servants. The story ends with Astral sealing him away again, but Astral remains uneasy. It is implied Number 96 could break free and impersonate Astral again at any time.
Vector gathers power by stealing the souls of his fellow Barians, and successfully defeats ZeXal and absorbs Astral.
Sanagi's story is about her wanting to form an idol band, and strongarms anyone she defeats in her events into joining.
Umimi participates in the tournament as her last big duel-related activity before she takes a break. The final duel is against Doctor Faker, who wants her to marry him instead of Tobio so that Kaito and Haruto can have a mother.
Kakeru behaves like he does in his episode. He learns his lesson after he wins in his first story event and promises his brothers that he will go back to playing soccer after the tournament ends.
Charlie participates to pay for the operation needed by his niece Mayumi, but his mannerisms get him in trouble with lots of people from town.
Durbe asks everyone he runs into in his events if they are Nasch, and is disappointed when he wins the duels and realizes they can't be Nasch for one reason or another. It is a comical story up until the very end, as his final opponent is Shark.
Akari has computer issues at the beginning of her story, which leads her to duel and see if she can find other material for her job.
Rei duels to please Yuma. Everything promptly proceeds to go wrong.
Tokunosuke entered the World Duel Carnival to reveal the reason for it being held, but refuses to wish for it after he wins the tournament. He had seen Kaito talking with Mr. Heartland in the Heart Tower earlier, which meant his final opponent and one of the most important figures of the city were involved in something together, so Tokunosuke decides to not learn anything else because it would be very dangerous for him.
Cathy wants to confess her feelings for Yuma. She gets friend-zoned.
Yamikawa wants to see for himself the results of his training since he returned to the Duel Lodge, and his demeanor makes him fairly popular among the participants. His wish is monetary assistance for the Lodge.
Takashi wants to meet his idol IV, and ultimately runs into him at the finals. IV manages to stop himself from going on a tirade after he loses, so Takashi has the best day he could have hoped for.
Tetsuo is smitten by Rio, and most of his events are about his crush on her.
Rio participates in the tournament because she is eager to duel, and runs into the people who were responsible for her stay in the hospital.
Shobee runs into and befriends other hot-blooded people.
Hosaku wants to build Tomato Paradise and meets several ladies besides Kotori who could be the perfect image girl he is looking for.
Aika enters the WDC to see for herself if the people at Heartland can appreciate the beauty of flowers.
Haruto ran away from the Heart Tower, and only returns for the final rounds.
Orbital runs into Obomi and falls in love with her at first sight. He duels to "free" Obomi from Tonma.
Anna's is exactly what anyone would expect.
Shuta is undervaluing himself because his pictures were rejected by Akari's editor-in-chief.
Mizael flaunts his way to the city, learns of Kaito's Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, and decides he wants to clash with them.
Fuya asks his mother to let him participate in the tournament, and she happily allows him to.
Girag tries to do anything he can to gather Numbers. Nothing goes the way he wants.
V spends his story reminiscing sadly about the times during which he had a normal loving family and was on good terms with Kaito.
Gauche wants to clash with Yuma again. After the WDC, he teaches children how to duel and is good terms with Yuma and Fuya.
Droite's story has her partner with Orbital to do Kaito's Number hunting. She tries to behave like Kaito does, copying his mannerisms and catchphrase, and takes the Numbers and souls of any Number holder she defeats in her events. Like Kaito, she believes assisting the one she loves is worth it. Unlike Kaito, she feels sorry for the people who lose their souls.
Dog-chan wishes to provide food for all dogs in Heartland.
Those would be rough resumes of the storylines. Modata (talkcontribs) 18:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate you sharing all this, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Feel free to take this to my discussion page to avoid bloating this section. YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 18:27, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
If necessary, feel free to send me an email. I'd gladly explain in more detail. YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 19:14, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Hey, you still up to talk about this? About last time, I was more asking about each of those characters' opponents during their respective story mode's heart events. For example, in Yuma's story mode, he fought, in order: Tetsuo, Haruto, and Yamikawa. Then in the WDC Finals Yuma fought: III, Shark, and Kaito. That is exactly what I'm looking for with the JP only characters. Do you think you could help with that? YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 01:41, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Oh, that. Sure. I'll try to write it down sometime later today. Modata (talkcontribs) 14:26, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Great! Really appreciate it. Also, try to do that on my Discussion page. Just so we don't end up making this thread too long.
About the WDC Finals part, I would like it if you could give me the exact details about the participants found in each character's story mode. For example, with Yuma, it goes: Yuma vs III, Shark vs IV, Kite vs Gauche, V vs Droite. Could you do that, too? It's okay if it takes you a few days to get everything. I can wait. Just knowing you'll help is enough. Thanks again! YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 16:19, 21 February 2021 (UTC) Here are the opponents for each character whose storyline was not localized. I found this playlist over there in Niconico with all storylines for the original release of the game, if it is of any use for you. Some of them are split in two videos.
Something that would be noticed by comparing both the paste and the videos is that the final opponents for the stories of Number 96 and Charlie do not match their Finals brackets. They are last-minute changes during the events themselves, and not an error on the game's part. Modata (talkcontribs) 18:52, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
Sweet! Thanks a million! I'll be checking them out right away. YGOTourneyFan (talkcontribs) 21:13, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Victory bonuses[edit]

Do you know if there is a more official name or even a more appropriate name for Victory bonus (Tag Force 1)?

And do you know if Blair and Ray really both give "Muka Muka". It's the only card on the list that can be given by more than one character. This GameFAQs guide and this @wiki guide agree that both give "Muka Muka". -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:52, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Ray's card is indeed "Muka Muka".
I have not noticed any bonus like the one you mention, but I do know there is a "Clear Bonus" (クリアボーナス). It is worth a set amount of DP for each storyline the player has finished. The GX games had it at 2 DP per story, but it was reduced to 1 DP per story for the 5Ds games. Modata (talkcontribs) 19:36, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Duel Terminal character profiles[edit]

I have been translating the character profiles in the Duel Terminal page. Several of the characters do not have their own pages, and while I would not have minded creating them, I do not have any information about them that would actually justify creating a new page. No appearances, Decks, or anything. So those profiles will be posted below this message.

I would have instead posted them in the Discussion tab for the Duel Terminal page, as I have been suggested to do before, but the discussion page for Duel Terminals is not in very good shape. Modata (talkcontribs) 23:48, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Modata (talkcontribs) 00:12, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

The next 2 profiles are fully transcribed, but I do not know how to write the character quotes.

Seto Kaiba

Yugi's fated rival, and user of Blue-Eyes White Dragon!

He is also the president of Kaiba Corporation!

Incredibly prideful and overbearing, but there is also a side to him that cares a lot about his younger brother.

Chazz Princeton / Jun Manjoume

A duelist who uses the Ojama Trio, and a rival of Judai!

Has an elitist mindset, and is rather pushy and bossy.

However, there is also a nicer side to him, cherishing and using the cards that were cast away by others.

Seto's quote is... something I have never understood. I know it's one of those quotes of his that is rather iconic, but I do not remember its exact context. Looking for it elsewhere did not really yield results. And I do not remember how it was handled in the various translations of the source material to at least keep consistency, either.

Chazz's / Manjoume's is the 1/10/100/1000/10000 quote. The problem at hand is, instead, that the localization changed it with something else, and I think people want the profile translations to be more in line with the localized terms and dub names? A bit of a blind assumption on my part.

Does Carly Carmen / Carly Nanosa have a character profile entry in the Duel Terminals? I did not see it in the files while looking for the others.Modata (talkcontribs) 00:27, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Replacing JPG files[edit]

Hello there!
First of all, thank you very much for all your work! I'd just like to ask you to, when replacing JPG files for PNG files, to make sure you tag the old JPG files for deletion, if nothing more links to them. Sometimes, they are still used on card galleries (or some place else); if that's the case, it would be great if you could cleanup those links and then tag the JPG one (now not being used anywhere else) for deletion, please.
Thank you! Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 22:20, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Noted. But, I do not think I know how to actually tag files for deletion. Modata (talkcontribs) 22:28, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
You just need to edit the file and add {{Delete}} to the top of the content. If the JPG file name differs from the PNG one, I recommend adding {{Delete|reason=Replaced by PNG file [[:File:<filename>]]}}, where <filename> is the JPG filename.
This is so we can more easily identify which files are not needed anymore.
Thanks! Let me know if you have more questions! Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 23:25, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Note that linking to "wiki/<pagename>" results in redlinks; the software assumes that you're trying to link to a page literally named wiki/<pagename>. To link to files without causing them to embed, add a colon (:) before the filename, e.g. [[:File:Example.jpg]]File:Example.jpg. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 02:00, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Aah, disregard this, I think it was caused by a JS script that's started acting wonky. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 20:39, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Character infoboxes[edit]

If it's not too much trouble, could you start keeping an eye out for uses of {{Infobox/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Character}}, and replacing them with {{Infobox character}}? The former template is slated for eventual deletion, but there are still some hundreds of pages using it, and no one is currently working on replacement. Thanks! ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 00:39, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Aah, there's also all of these things (excepting the voice actors one). ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 00:48, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Went through some of them. I think most of the pages left to do are User Talk? Modata (talkcontribs) 21:43, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I've been seeing your edits; thanks for the work!
There's definitely a lot of user pages in the remaining transclusions; I'm not really worried about those, but you can convert them too if you really want to. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 03:56, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
