Character articles[edit]

Hello, NumberC17. First of all, thank you for your contributions. I've noticed that your recent edits to articles of VRAINS characters were direct copies of the Wikia articles. However, we've forked away from them, so neither us nor them should use the other's content without permission. It would be appreciated if you avoid using their content in the future. GMTails (talkcontribs) 02:24, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

This is a reminder. I've just noticed that you have been copying Fandom's content to this wiki. That's not allowed, because we don't want them copying from us either.
Looking back at your edit history, it seems you have forgotten about this before, despite the above warning. Please revert/undo the edits you copied in April 2021 (as seen at Special:Contributions/NumberC17), otherwise you'll be blocked from editing and I'll have to research & revert your copied edits myself. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 21:38, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Hiding these messages and only reverting 1 of your edits is not enough. Please revert all of your plagiarised edits before you make any further edits to articles here, or you'll be blocked.
Also, can you confirm that User:Numberc17 is a different person? Or are they actually you? --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 23:22, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes... I can confirm I Numberc17 because it's my phone account whose passwords I forgot on my desktop account, and if you want me to delete my "plagiarized" edits and leave certain pages with ugly contextual messes, then I'd appreciate it if you showed me how to quit this account. And I wouldn't call my edits plagiarized seeing as how this wikia is basically a copypaste of the original ugly Wikia settings.NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey, we've noticed that you have both this account and Numberc17 (talk contribs), and are currently using both of them. This isn't ideal, and it would be best if you could choose one account to be the one you use going forward - in fact, if you want, we can merge the accounts for you to the name you prefer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or on our Discord server. Thanks! ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 04:20, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Arcana Force[edit]

The block is self-explanatory. As for "Arcana Force", the "themes" of each Tarot card are way too generic, that you could easily apply any 1 Tarot card's 'good side' and 'bad side' to literally any other "Arcana Force" card. This is somewhat similar to the "Numbers", in that you can find a lot of explanations for a number given enough time and resources - but that doesn't mean the card designer had all those explanations in mind when creating it. I really don't want the wiki to become fortune tellers, trying to extrapolate a Tarot card's (easily-exploitable) generic themes to 2 specific effects. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:01, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

You left some critical comments here, which is fine, but they contained obscene material, which merits them being wiped and you being unable to leave further comments here for the duration of your block. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:47, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Card Trivia[edit]

Could you please leave spaces between bullet points of trivia?

* trivia

* trivia 2

* trivia 3
** trivia 3 additional info

* trivia 4

It doesn't make a difference when viewing the page, but when editing the page, it does make a difference in making it easier to distinguish between information to edit, especially in longer lists. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 23:11, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Alright, I will. NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 23:13, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh, and I would also like to talk to you about assorting card trivia based on the "Arcana Force" monsters, effects, if you don't mind.NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 23:25, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay; that's fine. If you want to private message me instead, you can always join the Yugipedia Discord server (the "Discord" link should be on the left side of any wiki page). In that case, just say you're looking to talk to an admin. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 19:19, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I'm sorry UltimateKuriboh, but I can't access Discord. I can't even tell if you're gonna strike me if I do trivialize the significance of each Arcana Force monster.NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 16:50, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
That's fine, Discord was optional. You can comment here. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:28, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
So regarding the "Arcana Force" monster trivia, monster of the members effects are based on how Tarot cards are read, but the concern I have with you reverting my edits is how you say that it'll make people believe in the Tarot. We have archetypes and series based on the Jewish Tree of Life, Judeo-Christianity, and other religious themes, but despite all that, you feel the need to restrict the significance of the "Arcana Force" monster tarot readings based on their readings in tarot because people will start believing in it. It just feels a bit... I don't know how to put it delicately... hypocritical?NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 12:18, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
I am not removing "Arcana Force" trivia simply because I'm afraid of people believing in Tarot; I could care less about that. The interpretations of individual Tarot cards are vague and extremely broad, broad/vague enough that you can say "this theme of rebirth will happen in your life", and people can easily find some way to apply it to something. Like what you see in Chinese fortune cookies, for example. See the bolded statements for shotgunning, and the reasons given.
What I'm considered with, is a repeat of what happened with "Numbers". People took "Numbers" trivia way too far, making all sorts of unreasonable leaps to extrapolate some unlikely trivia to a number. The interpretations for a Tarot card are too broad, and cannot in good faith be attributed to a specific card effect. As an example, look at 1 Tarot card (with a corresponding "Arcana Force" card) and think of how many functionally-different card effects you could make from that theme(s), due to how vague the theme(s) is.
Now, I'd be okay with adding trivia that only explains a tarot card's themes (i.e. "In Tarot, the upright Magician can mean X, Y, or Z, while the upside-down Magician can mean Q, R, or S"). However, 1) I do not trust people to view that trivia and avoid adding an interpretation relating to the card's effect, and 2) the wikipedia link's purpose is for explaining the further details of a Tarot card anyway. Of course, you can feel free to create a userpage for yourself (or a forum page) where you list your intrepretations of "Arcana Force" effects, like what has happened for the "Numbers". Feel free to ask other active admins for their take on this whole issue.
As an off-note, please do not remove the chapter/episode templates DM, which I've noticed you doing for trivia pages. The chapter/episode names give some context as to what that chapter/episode is about, without having to explain it further in trivia. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:35, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

I've noticed you replacing some instances of "Japanese" with "OCG" in card trivia. Please do not do this, as the OCG isn't solely based in Japan; it covers a wider area in Asia, which can include Korean. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 18:21, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Fancy/curly quotes[edit]

Please keep in mind that for English text (most of our content), we use "simple" quotes here (i.e. U+0027 ' and U+0022 ") instead of fancy/curly/typesetter's quotes (U+2019 , U+201C , U+201D , etc). I'm guessing you use Microsoft Word or Office to write up your changes before copying them to the wiki; if there is no way to disable automatic quote replacement in your program, I'd recommend finding an alternative (personally, I use Notepad++). ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 23:20, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Sorry about that. Most of the trivia was done on Google Docs during my temporary exile.NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 23:22, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
As long as you don't mind going back through and fixing the quotes, it's no big deal. =)
Another thing I noticed is that some of your links are of the form Foobar or Foobars; this repetition is unnecessary, and these links should instead be written as Foobar or Foobars (respectively). This works even if the first character should be lowercase: yugipediayugipedia. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 23:25, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Accounts redux[edit]

I asked before and didn't get an answer, so now I'm telling you: please pick one of your accounts to use, and the other one will be merged to it (or it can be permanently blocked, at your discretion). ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 05:52, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

I prefer we merge both accounts. NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 13:57, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
That's fine. Which name do you want to use going forward? ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 14:29, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
The one I'm using now, with the capital "C". NumberC17 (talkcontribs) 14:30, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Favorite Hero[edit]

It would be appreciated if you could actually list some of the numerous instances (which, as you seem to imply, are too numerous to bear mentioning in Card Trivia) where Jaden has referred to the card as his "favorite hero". If they're really that numerous, then it should be easy to list some other instances. If you're not capable of this, then it seems unlikely that your claim is accurate. Furthermore, this is actually a trivia statistic that most people would be interested in (similar to Jaden's "Gotcha"). Finally, this is actually a relevant fact because it's a phrase Jaden declared in his last Duel against Dr. Crowler, the best episode in YGO GX as voted on by Japanese fans, which inspired several card creations for the OCG/TCG as a result of that poll. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:40, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Well, right now, I'm just trying to find said episodes where Jaden calls "Flame Wingman" "my favorite hero" in the Crunchyroll subs, but there are too many to count at the moment. I used various because there could possibly be more than one episode aside from the mentioned episode where "my favorite hero" was coined. Right now, I'm moving the "various episodes" tidbit to the "favorite card" sub-trivia since I just watched the first episode in Crunchyroll. NumberC17 17:55, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
From what I remember, Jaden used "favorite card" for Flame Wingman at least twice, but only "favorite hero" once. It's very possible he said these phrases more times, but that's all I can currently recall. No, I don't remember when he used "favorite card" a second time. But I anticipated adding more instances of "favorite card", as you can see with my origial edit. I sincerely don't think he said both phrases for a total of more than 10 times, and I still think these instances would bear mentioning, even if it ("favorite card") isn't an exact copy of the phrase. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 18:03, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Has anything come of this? Like I said, I don't believe it was a common thing. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 17:30, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

-Type and -Attribute[edit]

Please do not remove instances of -Type and -Attribute from the wiki. As we can determine from Duel Links (which includes "-Type" and "-Attribute" on newer cards' texts, that don't have these terms on their real-life card texts), the likely reason why those terms were removed from card texts, was only in order to shorten card texts. Not because it was deemed unnecessary, but more like, "we're forced to sacrifice something for longer card texts, so we'll settle with this". This was also likely the reason for "Graveyard" --> "GY".
Also, please do not go the way of User:NumbersHunter02; removing minor content similar to this (en masse) is not acceptable, unless if it's 1 change as part of a single big edit. Aka, it's okay if (for whatever appropriate reason) you removed a small piece of content as 1 edit on 1-2 pages, but not if you keep hitting multiple pages in 1 go.
I also hope you've seen my wikipedia-related comments on your paragraphs of real-life background stories for trivia. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 23:33, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're doing, as seen with these 2 conflicting edits: Example 1 and Example 2. Unless I'm contradicting something, it should be "This monster is a counterpart of X", as the 'counterpart status' for the old cards is mostly determined by the monsters' appearances (for the recolored versions), and not the scarce card similarities. Please follow through with this, thank you. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 00:40, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

I wouldn’t talk about consistency, because this website has so much inconsistencies with card trivia pages, short and unorganized character pages, and low definition screenshots that it should be considered a crime against people with an OCD. That includes the Prinzessin trivia page too.

Also, if your wood a way for me to delete my account so I would t have to come back to this crapshoot, that would be great. ...if my attempt to enforce consistency creates more inconsistency, I'd rather that be pointed out to me so it can discussed rather than just rage-quitting at the first sign of pushback. --Lord G. matters. Talk to me. 09:32, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
