Just came across one of your edits, and I totally agree with you about the rules. For the most part, I think they are good, but so many small problems that make it such a headache (the least they could do is totally match the Japanese ruleset, so at least it would be universal!). I've been working for some time on a slightly modified ruleset for homeplay (as no official would ever give it a blink of consideration).
