Deck[edit]

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, whenever Yugi Muto transforms into his doppelgänger Yami Yugi to Duel, Yami Yugi will always be seen using Yugi Muto's Deck, or in some case Yugi's grandfather Solomon Muto's Deck. During the Duelist Kingdom arc, Yami Yugi was seen using the various monster type and Spells/Traps in the Deck to deploy strategies based on the virtual field environment to counter any situations that he might have faced when going against his opponent in a Duel. This Deck also features the use of Fusion Monster and Ritual Monster, a special monster who can only be Summoned by their appropriate method. Fusion Monster can be Fusion Summoned when two monsters are fused together as one, and this condition is satisfied by the Fusion Monster's written text. Ritual Monster can be Ritual Summoned when one or more monster is Tributed by a Ritual Spell Card, and this condition is satisfied by the written text of the Ritual Spell and Ritual Monster. During the Battle City arc, the Deck features a completely different strategies for its tactic, but it still relies on the various monster type and Spells/Traps for the situations. The monsters being used in the Battle City Deck comes in two forms which is either a duo like "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl", or a trio like the "Magnet Warrior" and "Three Musketeers of Face Cards". Though he still uses monsters that aren't a part of a duo or trio. At first, the Spells/Traps in the Battle City Deck allows Yugi to control and manipulate the situation into his favor, but later on, he starts to relies on Spells/Traps that support his "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl", as these two cards were his signature cards.

In Duel Generation, the Duelist Construct plays a Deck called Black Chaos which comes from the Ritual Monster "Magician of Black Chaos", a card that Yugi used during the Duelist Kingdom arc. "Black Chaos" is a Level 8 Ritual Spellcaster that can be Ritual Summoned by the effect of "Black Magic Ritual". This Deck borrows several elements of both his Duelist Kingdom and Battle City Deck, in terms of monsters and Spells usage. There is a sense of balance for the monster in this Deck, as many of them have DEF above 1500 while the other have 2000 or more ATK. The monster with the high DEF are used to stall, so that the monster with the high ATK can use them as Tribute to Tribute Summon themselves. These monsters with the high ATK can be hard to overcome without card effects. There are four Spells in this Deck, two of them are Ritual Spells while the other two are Spells that involves the Normal Monster. The two Ritual Spells are "Black Magic Ritual" and "Advanced Ritual Art", and both cards can only be used on "Black Chaos" as it is the only Ritual Monster in this Deck. Since "Black Chaos" is a Level 8 monster, "Black Magic Ritual" will Tribute monsters with Level 8 or more from the owner's hand or field, while "Advanced Ritual Art" will use the Normal Monster in the owner's Deck as Tribute requirement, but the Level needs to be exact the same as "Black Chaos" which is 8. The Spells that involves the Normal Monster are "Dark Factory of Mass Production" whose effect can add 2 Normal Monsters from the owner's Graveyard to their hand and "Heart of the Underdog" which allow the owner during the Draw Phase when they draws a Normal Monster to reveal it to draws 1 more card. The least amount of cards in this Deck are the Traps, and one of them have the effect to revives a monster from the owner's Graveyard in Attack Position ("Call of the Haunted") while the other can destroy all monsters on the field, except for face-up Attack Position Normal Monster ("Justi-Break").

After the player defeat Yami Yugi's Black Chaos Deck three times, the next difficulty and Deck is unlocked. This Deck features the card "Dark Magician" and cards related to "Dark Magician" which Yami Yugi did used in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.

The Dark Magician Deck relies on "Dark Magician" as the main monster to be Summoned onto the field, and then use the Spells/Traps to counter the opponent in any situation. "Dark Magician" is a Level 7 Spellcaster Normal Monster with 2500 ATK/2100 DEF, and there are cards that "Dark Magician" is involved with like "Dark Magician Girl" (whose effect can increase her own ATK by 300 for each "Dark Magician" is in the Graveyard), "Skilled Dark Magician" (Tribute itself when it has 3 Spell Counters to Special Summon "Dark Magician" from the owner's hand, Deck, or Graveyard), "Dark Magic Attack" (destroy all Spells/Traps on the opponent's field when "Dark Magician" is on the owner's field), "Dark Magic Curtain" (pay half of the LP to Special Summon "Dark Magician" from the owner's Deck), and "Miracle Restoring" (remove 2 Spell Counters on the owner's field to Special Summon "Dark Magician" or "Buster Blader" in the owner's Graveyard onto the field). This Deck also features the use of the "Three Musketeers of Face Cards" cards "Jack's Knight", "Queen's Knight", and "King's Knight" to either use them as Tribute to Tribute Summoned a Level 5 or higher monsters, or use them as Fusion Materials for "Arcana Knight Joker". In addition, this Deck have a lot of LIGHT and DARK Attribute monsters, and as such, the signature card "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" can be Special Summoned (from the owner's hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and DARK Attribute. "Envoy of the Beginning" is a Level 8 Warrior with 3000 ATK/2500 DEF that the effect to either target and banish 1 monster on the field face-up, or when this attacking card destroys the opponent's monster by battle, it can make a second attack in a row. The Spells/Traps in this Deck are very limited as there are only one copy for each Spells/Traps, except for "Fiend's Sanctuary" and "Polymerization".
