"The D1 Grand Prix Begins!!", titled "Start!! D1GP!!" or "Start!! D1 Grand Prix!!" (かいまく!!D1ヂワンGPグランプリ!! Kaimaku!! Dī Wan Guran Puri!!) in the Japanese version, is the second volume of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga.

The Japanese version is 204 pages long, and costs ¥420 (including tax). Its dimensions are 17.5 cm × 11.2 cm × 1.8 cm.[2]

The English version is 200 pages long, and costs $9.99 (book) or $4.99 (digital).[3]

The volume includes a promotional card, "Catapult Warrior", which is used by Yusei Fudo in this volume.

The D1GP has finally come. To decide the world's greatest Turbo Duelist, all the contestants for the tournament have appeared in New Domino City. The first game is Yusei vs. Greiger. However, Yusei does not seem to be at the stadium yet.

As Akiza and Sherry put their differences aside and make-up after their Duel, the first round of the D1 Grand Prix continues on the second day. Many powerful opponents advance to the next round of the tournament, with the last match being between Synchro user Crow Hogan and Pro Duelist Bolt Tanner.

The second round of the D1GP finally starts. Goodwin and Lazar are looking for a shadow card believed to be possessed by Yusei. Yusei's second match is against Hunter Pace who plays a dirty trick on his Duel Runner. Hunter is coming up with a plan to beat Yusei not by lowering his Life Points, but by taking his speed and sense.

Yusei's second match, against Hunter Pace is reaching its height. Yusei is put at a disadvantage when he can't attack Hunter and when his Duel Runner cannot go any faster. When Sect discovers the sabotage of the Duel Runner, the Shadow card activates.
