Yugo and Ren face off in a rematch. Meanwhile, Yuya wanders off inside his own mind.

Summary[edit]

Two weeks after his confrontation with Reiji Akaba, Yuya Sakaki, trained and ready to Duel, sits on his Duel Runner inside an abandoned particle accelerator, a continuous, unbroken tunnel going in a circle. The bait has been set, and now all he has to do now is wait for his enemies to come to him. Sure enough, the silence is broken by the appearance of a portal, and from that portal emerges Ren, a masked Turbo Duelist that once invaded Yuya's mind in search of the Adam Factor he possesses. Yuya smiles as his opponent stops in from of him.

Ren chides Yuya for going into hiding and then reappearing just as suddenly. Yuya explains that he knows from experience that Ren is a tough opponent, and he had to take the time to get ready. Ren notes that a particle accelerator is an interesting choice of course, and asks if Yuya is sure about wanting to Duel him. Yuya starts to officially challenge Ren, but at that moment, there's a sudden light, and Yuya disappears. Seated on his Duel Runner, Yugo declares that he will be Ren's opponent. Inside his own mind, Yuya is shocked that Yugo would spend all that time training him and then not let him Duel. What's more, Yugo's pushed him so deep down in his mind that he can't even watch the Duel.

Outside, Yuri notes that the Runner that Ren is riding must be from the future. Yugo, preparing to ride, says that he's racing for keeps this time. Yuto chides Yugo for leaving Yuya so deep down, but Yugo tells him that he doesn't want Yuya to overhear them talking.

Yuzu Hiiragi, who came to the particle accelerator with Yuya (and who's never seen a Turbo Duel) asks if they're really going to Duel like this. Yugo confirms, saying that this is the ultimate form of Action Duel. Yuzu exclaims how dangerous this is, and Yugo exclaims right back that the adrenaline rush is the best part. Yuzu angrily says that people shouldn't do things like this, but Yugo explains that he has to settle the score with this guy, or else Yuya will be in danger. He advises Yuzu to go to the control room, where she can watch from the monitors.

Yuzu instead takes a sudden stand, placing herself directly in front of the two Duel Runners, saying she will not let them risk their lives like this. Simultaneously, both Duelists start their Runners, the two engines roaring to life. Yuzu is startled, nervously asking if they're planning on running her over. Yugo turns to Ren and tells him that the Duel will begin when Yuzu crouches down. Ren is silent for a moment, then agrees. Both Duelists rev their engines again, and sure enough, Yuzu eventually cracks under the pressure, crouching down to shield herself. The Duelists surge forward around Yuzu, and the Duel begins. From a distant place, Eve and her assistant Isaac are also monitoring the Duel. Isaac notes that Reiji Akaba will also be watching from somewhere, and that they may be able to track him down.

Ren takes an early lead, proudly declaring that his is the most advanced Duel Runner of his time. With it, his pride demands that he stay in the lead for the remainder of the Duel. Ren begins his turn, and the first Action Card appears on the track ahead. With his lead, he claims it, and declares that Yugo won't have any of the others either. Yugo, despite coming into the Duel knowing that Ren's Runner would be superior, is stunned at how well the machine accelerates. Ren asks Yugo not to hold it against him, but for his master Eve's sake, he cannot afford to lose this Duel.

Ren sends White Moray in his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon White Stingray. He then activates White Mirror to revive that White Moray from his Graveyard, then add a second copy of it from his Deck to his hand. He then Normal Summons that White Moray. Ren reminds Yugo that if Summoned from the Graveyard, White Moray is treated as a Tuner monster; with it, his Reincarnation Synchro will begin. Ren tunes White Stingray and White Moray to the now-Tuner White Moray to Synchro Summon White Aura Whale, 2800 ATK. He then activates White Salvation, which allows him to add a White monster from his Graveyard to his hand every turn. He chooses White Stingray. Finally, Ren Sets a card face-down to end his turn.

Yugo begins his turn, and the next Action Card appears on the track. Pushing his Runner to full throttle, riding up the wall of the curved tunnel the Duel is taking place in. Ren realizes that he's trying to gain extra momentum from going down the slope of the tunnel to slingshot past him; however, it isn't enough, and only puts Yugo slightly behind Ren. Ren claims the turn's Action Card. Yuri, watching the Duel, is worried about how much a disadvantage Yugo is at, but Yuto assures him that Yugo can still turn this around. Yuri', however, is more worried about Yugo's fears of their power waning inside Yuya. Yuto is silent.

Yugo is still defiant, declaring that he won't lose this Duel even without Action Cards. He sets the Scale 1 Speedroid Marble Machine and the Scale 6 Speedroid Hexasaucer in his Pendulum Zones. With his Scale set, he can Pendulum Summon monsters from his hand or face-up Extra Deck from Level 2 to 5 at the same time. Yugo Pendulum Summons Speedroid Passinglider and Speedroid Domino Butterfly in Attack Position. He then tunes Level 5 Passinglider to the Level 2 Tuner Domino Butterfly to Synchro Summon Clearwing Fast Dragon, his Synchro Pendulum Monster with 2500 ATK.

Ren isn't surprised to see Clearwing again, and Yugo declares that White Aura Whale is still no match for Clearwing's effect. With it, Yugo negates White Aura Whale's effects, and reduces its ATK to 0. Yugo goes on the offensive and attacks, but Ren knew Yugo would try this, and activates his Set White Arbitration, allowing him to send White Moray from his hand to the Graveyard to change all of Yugo's monsters to Defense Position. But Yugo, in turn, knew that Ren would try to counter his attack like that, and activates Marble Machine's Pendulum Effect, changing Clearwing back to Attack Position.

Yugo attacks again, but Ren uses the Action Card Full Fairing to reduce the battle damage by half. White Aura Whale is destroyed, and Ren's LP fall by 1250 to 2750. Ren activates his destroyed monster's effect, banishing White Stingray from his Graveyard to revive it to his field again as a Tuner monster. Ren explains that when Summoned this way, White Aura Whale's effect destroys all of Yugo's monsters. However, a monster whose battle position was changed by Marble Machine's Pendulum Effect can't be destroyed that turn, so Clearwing is safe. Yugo sets a card face-down to end his turn.

Deep inside his own heart, Yuya wanders alone, wondering exactly where he is. He comes across a crater in the ground, destroyed by some unknown force. At that moment, he hears a deep pulse from somewhere inside him, much different than his own heartbeat, and he comes across something that makes him stop in his tracks.

Featured Duel: Yugo vs. Ren[edit]

Turn 1: Ren
Ren obtains an Action Card. He sends "White Moray" from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon "White Stingray" (1400/1000) from his hand. Next, he activates "White Mirror", Special Summoning "Moray" back and adding a second copy of it to his hand, which he subsequently Normal Summons (both 600/200). Due to its own effect, the "Moray" Summoned from the Graveyard becomes a tuner monster; Ren tunes the Level 4 "Stingray" and the Level 2 "Moray" with the Level 2 Tuner "Moray" to Synchro Summon "White Aura Whale" (2800/2000). He then activates "White Salvation", adding one "Moray" back to his hand. Ren Sets 1 card.

Turn 2: Yugo
Ren obtains another Action Card. Yugo Sets his Pendulum Scales with "Speedroid Marble Machine" (PS 1) and "Speedroid Hexasaucer" (PS 6), allowing him to Pendulum Summon "Speedroid Passing Rider" (2200/2000). He then Normal Summons the tuner monster "Speedroid Domino Butterfly". Yugo tunes the Level 5 "Passing Rider" with the Level 2 Tuner "Domino Butterfly" to Synchro Summon "Clearwing Fast Dragon" (2500/2000). Yugo activates its effect, reducing the ATK of "Whale" to zero and negating its effect. Ren activates his face-down "White Arbitration", sending "Moray" from his hand to the Graveyard to switch "Clearwing" to Defense Position, but Yugo activates the Pendulum Effect of "Marble Machine", switching it back to Attack Position. "Clearwing" attacks and destroys "Whale", but Ren activates the Action Card "Full Fairing", halving the damage (Ren 4000 → 2750). Upon its destruction, Ren activates the effect of "Whale", banishing "Stingray" from his Graveyard to Special Summon "Whale" back (2800/2000), with its effect activating to destroy "Clearwing", but the other effect of "Marble Machine" prevents it from being destroyed this turn. Yugo Sets 1 card.

Duel continues in the next Scale.
