"The Power of Cuteness?" is the nineteenth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It first aired in Japan on August 7, 2022.

Yuhi and co. were going to keep Dueling in the Coruffium, but Manabu told them to not come to the Alien Residential Area. Ranran Nanahoshi, the chief of MIK, then showed up out of nowhere and declared that the lawless Alien Residential Area must be sealed off immediately! What action will Manabu take in response to Ranran?

Summary[edit]

Yudias recaps that during their search for the missing Yuna Goha, they learned they key to her whereabouts was with the Rovian Bandits, so they visited the Coruffium, where a myriad of alien opposed them. The Evil Prophet, Nomuratodamas, the Hot-Blooded Warrior, Sparta Guts, the Delusional Conqueror, Alexander, the Mad King of Quirkiness, Xerxes. Yudias, Yuamu and Yuhi won countless Duels in succession, but it is incredibly difficult to gain Duel Power and the road to the Macho Rank is a tough one. He wishes everyone luck, believing the road will open for them if they continue to believe themselves. In the present, Yuhi asks if Yudias really thinks so, claiming the only thing increasing after all their victories is the manga they're getting and Yuamu hopes it'll stop soon. Yuhi admits that it's difficult to stop reading Mr. Universe after starting it and asks Yudias to hand him the next volume, Yudias agreeing with a cry of "UTS!" and recapping that Yuhi seems to be enjoying it. Yuhi's hungry as well and suggests they head back, a statement Manabu agrees with, telling them to leave and not come back again. Yuhi looks up to see Manabu and Nyandestar glaring at them, Nyandestar angrily noting they keep coming down here as though they think they're MIK and Manabu reminding them this place is under their jurisdiction, ordering them to leave again. He notes he'd heard someone had been barging in and out of the Alien Residential Area, so what has he found but an evaporating dish? He asks if they know what this place is and Yuhi confidently claims it's somewhere they can increase their rank by winning a lot, incensing Manabu, who yells in Yuhi's face that this isn't a place one comes to for fun. As they glare point-blank at one another, Yuamu crossly explains they're here on business, much to Manabu's surprise, and Yuamu tells him to stay out of their way. Manabu cools down, explaining he's doing this because he's worried about them, though Yuhi claims they don't need him to, calling him "Mr. Rubber Gloves" and getting into a glaring match with him again.

A woman's voice calls Mutsuba Town Branch Chief Manabu Sogetsu naïve, much to his shock, and four figures in ninja garb zip around them, the Special Ninja Capture Brigade. Manabu realizes what this means as the four ninja move to flank a door, through which a bespectacled blue-haired woman in MIK garb arrives on a hovering platform, Ranran Nanahoshi, who Manabu gasps is the Director General. Yuhi asks Yuamu what that means, and she notes Ranran is likely Manabu's superior. Ranran asks Manabu how much longer he plans to keep this up and declares she can no longer overlook this issue due to the recent upheaval in the Alien Residential Area; now that she's here she will shut this place down. Yudias, Yuhi and Yuamu are horrified, Yuhi worrying they won't be able to find Yuna if that happens, while Yudias asks what will happen to the aliens here. Ranran asks if the Velgearian really wants to know, claiming they'll be sent to a much stricter and more tightly controlled prison, and she will not hear otherwise. Yudias flinches and Manabu begs Ranran to wait, as they should hear the opinions of the residents, but Ranran mockingly repeats his statement and claims she can't hear him, insisting this is her decision and it will not be changed. Manabu winces as the UTS crew look at Ranran in shock, and Nyandestar comments that Ranran hasn't changed. Ranran tells the cat alien it's been a long time and Manabu asks if they know one another. Nyandestar explains Ranran was her first partner and after remembering their time together she tries to talk to Ranran, but Ranran has already ordered her ninja to begin sealing the area and to capture the kids, as they are important witnesses, the ninja raising their sticks with a declaration of "Capture!" Yuhi asks why they're being captured too, Yudias asking if they can't even speak up so she can hear them out, but Ranran mockingly claims she can't hear them and the ninja surround Yudias, who stands protectively in front of the twins.

As Manabu watches in concern, Yuamu orders a Velgear Beam from Yudias, much to his confusion, the order sending the ninja into a defensive formation around Ranran and allowing the UTS crew to gap it (with Yudias still thoroughly confused). Ranran quickly realizes they've been tricked and chases them with her ninja through the Coruffium halls and into the arena itself. The audience are excited to see more people, though Venus Ganiko isn't happy to see them since it's not their turn to Duel. Ranran and the MIK ninja barge in as well, and Yuamu seizes the moment to inform the crowd of Ranran's intentions. The aliens in the audience aren't happy to see MIK given they locked them in here in the first place and they'll have nowhere to go if the area is closed down, but Ranran once again claims she can't hear them and orders their capture. Manabu steps up, begging Ranran to wait and consider the circumstances of the aliens, and Nyandestar tells Manabu that he's changed given he's thinking of everyone here, something Manabu attributes to the time they've spent together. Ranran frowns and comments through gritted teeth that she never thought Manabu would talk back to the director general, commenting on his nerve. Manabu protests he didn't mean to, he just wants to consider everyone's opinions, but Ranran is feigning deafness again and warns Manabu she'll take him into custody too if he continues. Manabu can only stare back in shock, but Ganiko drops in to point out they're in the Coruffium, a place where they Duel, and all disputes here are solved with a Rush Duel, a proposition the crowd are overwhelmingly in favor for, encouraging Manabu to win. Yuhi asks what they should do and Yudias agrees this won't be solved unless they Duel, realizing Yuamu's plan all along was for Manabu to win to prevent MIK from locking down the area. Yuhi doesn't really get it, but still thinks it's a great plan, though Yuamu admits she doesn't really care if the Coruffium closes. Ranran agrees to the proposal, much to Manabu's joy, but warns him she's very powerful as she's never lost a Duel in her life. Manabu and Yuhi are shocked to learn so, and Yudias swallows nervously. Ranran and Manabu ascend on UFO platforms with their Decks and their Duel Disks at the ready, Ranran introducing herself as Ranran Nanahoshi, Director General of MIK Central Ward, and Manabu introducing himself as Manabu Sogetsu, Chief of the MIK Mutsuba Branch. They inserts their Decks into their Duel Disks with a cry of "Go Rush!!" to deploy the blades and the holographic sphere.

Ranran declares her turn and a silent draw, her hand containing two "Dahlia the Sprouting Shadow Flower", "Shadow Flower Spore", "Kudzu the Bruised Shadow Flower", and "Begonia the Pressed Shadow Flower". Telling her little cards it's time to go, she Summons "Dahlia the Sprouting Shadow Flower", "Begonia the Pressed Shadow Flower", and "Kudzu the Bruised Shadow Flower", telling her beloved maidens to bloom and enthrall them all with their sweet beauty. But as she asks what they think of her perfect field, Yuhi asks if her monsters all have low ATK and no effects despite Ranran's confidence and boasting, though Yuamu notes they all just look cute, while Manabu believes that Nanahoshi must have a strategy in mind. Rarnran meanwhile is thinking she can hear the voices of her monsters and flushes at their cuteness, but quickly shakes herself out of her daze, though Nyandestar has taken noticed and muses that Ranran hasn't changed a bit. Setting a card, Ranran ends her turn.

Manabu declares his turn and a Chemeowstry Draw, his hand containing "Chemicalize Salamander", "Fiery Blaze", "Dynamo Might", "Flame Seeker", and "Methyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp". He Summons "Flame Seeker", "Dynamo Might" and "Methyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp", then activates the effect of "Dynamo Might" to inflict 300 damage to Ranran. Red light blazes from the monster and reduces Ranran to 3700 LP, and Ranran praises Manabu for being the first person to damage her, much to Manabu, the audience, and Yudias' shock. Even Yuhi is impressed, and believes Ranran's Set card must be extremely powerful, so Manabu decides to reveal it: since he controls two Pyro Type monsters he activates the Spell Card "Fiery Blaze" to inflict 300 more damage to Ranran, then destroys one of her Spell or Trap Cards. Fire engulfs Ranran, reducing her to 3400 LP, and her Set card shatters into shards without incident, much to the utter shock of Manabu, Ranran and Yuhi (while Nyandestar shakes her head sadly). Manabu stammers as he Tributes "Flame Seeker" and "Dynamo Might" to Tribute Summon, chanting "The flames seeking truth shall never burn out. This is an efficient combustion of victory! Roar, Chemicalize Salamander!" He then activates the effect of "Methyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp" to return "Flame Seeker" to his hand and Summons it again, much to the delight of Yudias and Yuhi. Ranran shakes, muttering that Manabu has done it now to go this far against his boss, and Manabu freaks, as Ranran is high-ranked in MIK, but remembering the plight of the aliens he steels himself and reminds himself he must protect this place. As the aliens cheer Ranran orders Manabu to continue his turn and Yuhi wonders how Ranran is able to remain so calm when Manabu has done so much already. Manabu orders "Methyl" to attack "Begonia" and "Methyl" cheerfully blasts it with green flame, destroying it and reducing Ranran to 3200 LP as she gasps her monster's name, then orders "Flame Seeker" to attack and destroy "Kudzu" with twin fire blasts, reducing Ranran to 2700 LP as she protests. Manabu orders "Chemicalize Salamander" to draw their conclusion for victory with "Burning Conclusion", "Chemicalize Salamander" breathing a pillar of fire that engulfs "Dahlia" and reduces Ranran to 500 LP as she cries her monster's name. Manabu bows stiffly and declares that is all as he ends his turn, and Ranran collapses asking how this happened. Yuhi protests that's his line and Yudias asks how Ranran could have been so confident earlier, the aliens in the audience wondering how either and Ranran yelling "HOW?!" again (Yuhi again protesting that's his line). Manabu glances down at Nyandestar and begins to ask her something, Nyandestar admitting that she didn't want to say so earlier...but Ranran doesn't know anything about Dueling and has no deep strategy.

The Coruffium falls silent after Nyandestar's outburst, before Manabu leads everyone in it in a chorus of "Purrposterous!" Yuhi protests Ranran hasn't lost a single Duel, though Yuamu notes her MIK subordinates likely let Ranran win their Duels since they were worried about her. Yuhi's query if Ranran is a total weakling hits Ranran hard, and she begins to protest to herself, and when Nyandestar tries to console Ranran she claps her hands over her ears and cries at everyone to be quiet, claiming she can't hear a thing and ordering the Duel to continue, for the match has just begun. She yells a "silent" draw while covering her ears, her hand containing her second "Dahlia", another "Begonia", "Blanc de Blanc the Snow Shadow Flower", "Shadow Flower Duplication", and "Shadow Flower Sewing. She tells her beautiful maidens to bloom again, Summoning "Dahlia" and bidding farewell to her to Tribute Summon, chanting "O soul of white, like the fleeting snow that falls upon dirty soil... Blanc de Blanc the Snow Shadow Flower!" Yudias is impressed to see a Tribute Summon, but while Yuhi notes the 1900 ATK "Blanc de Blanc" is hardly weak, Yuamu notes it's just fluffy and cute. Nyandestar confirms Ranran has no idea what she's doing and just filled her Deck with cards she thought were cute (prompting Manabu to lead the Coruffium in another chorus of "Purrposterous"). Ranran stops fawning over her monster and looks at Nyandestar in shock, then recalls sitting at her desk with a "Blanc de Blanc", believing she could hear its sweet voice before another MIK agent took her to choose a partner from several assembled aliens. Ranran was put off by the largely grotesque group, but entranced by Nyandestar, who told her it was nice to meet her, though she believed Nyandestar's voice to be something only she could hear. As they recall their escapades, Nyandestar admits she and Ranran worked well together up to a point, namely when Ranran learned Nyandestar was an alien cat and could speak, instead of a real cat that only spoke in her imagination, something she believed didn't make Nyandestar cute anymore (much to poor Nyandestar's utter confusion) and furthermore made her believe she didn't like cute things anymore. Ranran claims she gave up on cute things after that, or so she thought, and Nyandestar notes that Ranran still kept using her cute Deck subconsciously, and due to her surprisingly quick promotion to Director General, no-one had the authority to tell her off about it. Ranran laments being mistaken over her strength and failing to recognize her own weakness, but Nyandestar insists Ranran isn't weak, she just didn't know any better, and begs her to continue believing in cute things.

Looking at the three cards in her hand, "Begonia", "Shadow Flower Duplication" and "Shadow Flower Sewing", Ranran suddenly sends three cards from the top of her Deck to the Graveyard (two more "Blanc de Blanc" and a second "Kudzu") to activate the Spell Card "Shadow Flower Sewing", reducing the ATK of "Chemicalize Salamander" by 100 for each Plant Type monster in her Graveyard ("Begonia", two "Dahlia", two "Kudzu" and two "Blanc de Blanc"). Yudias is amazed by the move and Yuamu notes Ranran only had four in her Graveyard before activating the Spell, and had she not sent more the ATK of "Chemicalize Salamander" would have still been higher than "Blanc de Blanc", Yuhi barging in to explain that sending three cards gave her seven Plant monsters in the Graveyard, enough to make a comeback. "Chemicalize Salamander" falls to 1800 ATK and Yudias gasps that Ranran's Deck can still make a comeback even though it's only full of cute monsters, which Nyandestar attributes to the "power of cuteness" that Ranran believed in. Yudias repeats the term excitedly as the crowd cheers Ranran on, while Ranran is shocked her Deck has this kind of power. Yuhi admits his first Deck had a bunch of Dragons in it because he thought they looked cool and Yudias declares that sometimes such feelings can bring miracles. Ranran then places the "Begonia" in her hand on the bottom of her Deck to activate the Spell "Shadow Flower Duplication", Special Summoning two more "Blanc de Blanc" and marveling as she hears their cute voices, before ordering her pretty maidens to go forth with "The Princess' Chaotic Pretty Blooms". Each "Blanc de Blanc" blasts streams of pink petals at "Chemicalize Salamander", "Methyl" and "Flame Seeker", destroying them all and dropping Manabu's LP from 4000 to 3900, 3000, and finally 2500. Nyandestar gasps and Yuhi cries that she destroyed all of Manabu's monsters, Manabu praising Ranran's efforts as she clenches her fist and gasps that this is a real Duel, this is her Rush Duel. She pumps her fist as the crowd cheer, and Nyandestar glances up at the bowing Manabu as Ranran ends her turn, Manabu asking Ranran to allow him to go all out for the end.

He declares his turn and a Chemeowstry Draw, drawing five cards: "Pierce!", "Blast Examiner", "Phantom Bind", "Analyze Phlogiston", and "Ethyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp". Summoning "Ethyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp", he activates its effect to Special Summon "Methyl" from his Graveyard, and then he Tributes them both to Tribute Summon, chanting "Burn beyond the laws of matter! Now come forth from the blaze! Analyze Phlogiston!" A draconian monster covered in blue flame appears with 2300 ATK and Ranran gasps in shock, as Yudias, Yuamu and Yuhi all react eagerly. Manabu sends a Trap card from his hand to activate the effect of "Analyze Phlogiston", first returning three monsters from his Graveyard to his Deck whose total Levels equal the Level of the monsters Ranran controls. Ranran controls three Level 5 "Blanc de Blanc", so Manabu returns the Level 4 "Dynamo Might" and "Flame Seeker" and the Level 7 "Chemicalize Salamander", and he explains that all monsters Ranran controls will be destroyed. He declares "Analyze of Destroy" and "Analyze Phlogiston" erupts in a brilliant white light that consumes all three "Blanc de Blanc", Ranran gasping their names as the disintegrate into pink sparkles and hearing their laughter. She thanks them, hoping they can play together again sometime, and Manabu clears his throat to get her to focus, then orders a direct attack from "Analyze Phlogiston", telling it to sound out the roar of a conflagration as it attack with "Ash Slash Brimstone". "Analyze Phlogiston" breathes blue fire from its maw, striking Ranran, and she smiles and thanks Manabu for showing her a real Duel as Nyandestar smiles too, Ranran's LP falling to zero.

Cheers echo through the Coruffium and Manabu says Ranran's name respectfully. Ranran agrees that as promised she'll overlook the matter this time and won't lock down the area, and Manabu bows and thanks her. Ranran admits she was happy to hear Nyandestar's voice after so long, much to Nyandestar's joy, though Ranran notes the real problem in the area hasn't been dealt with and they will continue their surveillance. As she walks away with her ninja, she warns them to be careful as well. That evening the group are heading out of the Coruffium (despite Manabu's protests he's not finished speaking with them yet) and Yuhi laments their inability to gain more Duel Power, Yudias noting they're still unable to enter Badloon Castle and meet with the Rovian Bandits. Yuhi complains they've made no progress as Manabu continues to berate him for not listening to him and snaps at Manabu that he isn't listening, but Yuamu stops and comments it seems they have made some progress. A blonde girl in a cloak is standing outside and she asks what they want with her master Rovian.

He destroys Ranran's Set "Shadow Flower Spore" (Ranran: 3700 → 3400 LP). Manabu Tributes "Dynamo Might" and "Flame Seeker" to Tribute Summon "Chemicalize Salamander" (2500/1500). As "Methyl" was Normal Summoned this turn, Manabu activates its effect, adding a Level 4 Pyro Type Normal Monster from his Graveyard to his hand, also he can only attack with Pyro Type monsters for the rest of the turn. He adds "Flame Seeker" from his Graveyard to his hand. Manabu Normal Summons "Flame Seeker" (1400/400). "Methyl" attacks and destroys "Begonia" (Ranran: 3400 → 3200 LP). Ranran Tributes "Dahlia" to Tribute Summon "Blanc de Blanc the Snow Shadow Flower" (1900/1000). Ranran's hand contains "Begonia", "Shadow Flower Duplication" and "Shadow Flower Sewing". As Ranran has a Plant Type Normal Monster in her Graveyard the activates the Spell Card "Shadow Flower Sewing", sending the top three cards of her Deck to the Graveyard to reduce the ATK of a face-up monster Manabu controls by 100 for each Plant Type Normal Monster in her Graveyard until the end of the turn, then if Ranran has a Level 5 Normal Monster in her Graveyard, she can destroy all Level 7 or higher Normal Monsters Manabu controls. Ranran sends two copies of "Blanc de Blanc" and "Kudzu" from the top of her Deck to the Graveyard and chooses "Chemicalize Salamander", and she has seven Plant Type Normal Monsters in her Graveyard ("Chemicalize Salamander": 2500/1500 → 1800/1500). Ranran activates the Spell Card "Shadow Flower Duplication", placing a card from her hand on the bottom of her Deck to Special Summon up to two Plant Type Normal Monsters from her Graveyard whose Levels are less than or equal to the Level of a Plant Type Normal Monster she controls, then if she controls a Level 5 monster, she can destroy all Level 7 or higher Normal Monsters Manabu controls. Ranran controls the Level 5 "Blanc de Blanc", so she Special Summon two copies of the Level 5 "Blanc de Blanc" (1900/1000) from her Graveyard in Attack Position. The three copies of "Blanc de Blanc" attack and destroy "Methyl", "Flame Seeker", and "Chemicalize Salamander" (Manabu: 4000 → 3100 → 2600 → 2500 LP).

Turn 4: Manabu
Manabu draws "Pierce!", "Blast Examiner", "Phantom Bind", "Analyze Phlogiston", and "Ethyl the Flame Jinn of the Lamp". Manabu Normal Summons "Ethyl" (500/1000). He Special Summons "Methyl" (1000/500) from his Graveyard. Manabu Tributes "Methyl" and "Ethyl" to Tribute Summon "Analyze Phlogiston" (2300/2300). Manabu activates the effect of "Analyze Phlogiston", sending a Spell/Trap Card from his hand to the Graveyard to shuffle three Pyro Type monsters from his Graveyard into his Deck whose combined Levels equal the combined Levels of all Level 8 or lower Attack Position monsters Ranran controls, then destroy all Level 8 or lower Attack Position monsters Ranran controls, also Manabu can only attack with one monster this turn. He sends "Phantom Bind" from his hand to the Graveyard and Ranran controls three copies of the Level 5 "Blanc de Blanc", so Manabu shuffles the Level 4 "Dynamo Might", the Level 4 "Flame Seeker", and the Level 7 "Chemicalize Salamander" from his Graveyard into his Deck and destroys the three copies of "Blanc de Blanc". "Analyze Phlogiston" attacks Ranran directly (Ranran: 500 → 0 LP).
