"Water Hazards", known as "Yujin and the Sea" in the Japanese version, is the fifty-fifth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. It first aired in Japan on July 4, 2021.

Yujin, second son of the six Goha President Siblings and self-proclaimed "seaman", appears in Goha #7 Elementary School. Using his presidental authority to turn the schoolyard into sea, he fights Luke in a Maritime Duel.

Summary[edit]

As the Goha Siblings' ship passes over Goha Harbor, the blue-trimmed Goha Sibling is running on a treadmill, huffing in time with the signature laugh of Goha, while the elderly Goha Enterprises Drone reminds Yuran, the boy with blue hair, that breakfast is the first source of each day's energy and he mustn't go without it. Yuran's mask retracts as he agrees, while his older brother vows to win and get revenge for his big brother Yuro, running faster and faster on the treadmill. Having retracted her own mask, the girl remarks that doesn't look like Rush Duel training, and Yuo reminds her that if Yujin loses, the opposing side will have two points, so when that happens... The girl sharply warns Yuo that there's no way Yujin will lose and Yuo retracts his mask, evasively claiming that he only wants him to Duel with the resolve to quit being president if he loses and he explains to Yuka that was all he wanted to say. Yujin roars in effort as his accelerates even faster, reaching 50 km/h on the treadmill and causing it to overheat and explode, much to Yuka's shock, flinging the still-running Yujin out of the ship and into the bay below. That night, Yujin is still lying in the bay as he opens his mask and comments on the taste of salt, musing that this is a sea from Earth. Then a fin breaks the water around him, and Yujin looks at it before the head of a dolphin breaks the water and stares into Yujin's eyes.

At Goha #7 Elementary the next day, Yuga, Romin, Kaizo and Gavin watch the Super Rush Robot continuing its stretches and Gavin notes that it's been moving the entire time (while Luke replicates the stretches in the background). Romin declares that holding Rush Duels hostage like this is unforgivable, and Gavin notes that the program already seems to be under stress, musing that the six Goha Siblings cannot be underestimated. Yuga points out that all they need to do is win six times, and Gavin agrees that's the spirit, Romin adding that the notion of Yuga being a Goha employee is unthinkable. But then they hear a boat horn as Yujin approaches in beach clothes, singing a love ballad to the sea - though his "boat" is on wheels and moving across the grass. Romin asks if it's a boat, while Gavin asks if one could even call it a boat, though Luke excitedly declares it a boat (as Yuga laughs). Yujin introduces himself to them as the second brother of the six Goha Presidential Siblings and he rips off his shirt to reveal his thriving muscles, macho and looking good as he flexes, declaring himself a man of the sea. While Luke is appreciative, Romin, Yuga and Gavin are all taken aback, and Gavin sighs that this is their second opponent. Yujin's siblings are just as surprised, Yuran face-palming as he repeats Yujin's words and Yuka wondering when he became like that, Yuo suggesting that this is just a phase.

Yujin declares that he's counting on Nail Saionji, and Nail's image appears on a holographic screen as he releases the next presidential exclusive Duel stage. The ground begins to rumble and the other students flee, wondering what's happening this time. A large section of the ground sink to reveal sluices that disgorge water, rapidly creating a rippling blue expanse, while blue walls painted to resemble the sky surround the area. Luke praises Nail as the area takes shape, and everyone else asks in shock if this is supposed to be the sea. Luke eagerly runs down to the "shore" but then the entire school begins to rise, knocking Romin off-balance and into the pit, but fortunately she is rescued by Yuro, riding his Speed Loader. Yuro brings Romin back to the stairs, Gavin gasping her name and Yuga asking in concern if she's all right. Romin thanks Yuro, still shaken from her near miss, and Yuro comments that his break just now was perfect, wasn't it? Had he been 0.1 seconds slower or faster, he'd have failed to catch Romin. He gives them a thumbs up, and Yuga asks Yuro why he's here. Yuro explains that he became a student at Goha #7 Elementary, which is now his race track, much to their shock, while Yujin is angered by the notion of Yuro having to share a school with Yuga and his friends. Swirly watches as Seatbastian scatters crabs and shells to make the place more sea-like and smiles happily, and after finishing his work, Seatbastian present Yuga, Luke, Romin and Gavin with swimwear and suggests they go and change. Gavin quickly returns in a one-piece, while Yuga and Luke both wear swimming trunks and coats, while Romin is in a two-piece bikini and skirt, much to her and Kaizo's appreciation. A swift "Romin-punch" and "Romin-kick" sends the fawning Kaizo into the water as Romin grumbles that she can't let her guard down for a second. Yujin comments that it seems like they're finally ready, and he suggests they begin, having two stone platforms emerge from the water before somersaulting forwards to land on one and challenging Yuga to a Duel. Yuga protests that he can't swim, but Luke grins and sheds his coat, reassuring Yuga as he dives into the water and declares that he'll Duel today, swimming to the other platform. Yuga thanks Luke, who tells Yujin that the King of Duels will be his opponent as he straps on his Duel Disk. Yujin is briefly interested by Luke's claim, but pays it little mind and straps on his own Duel Disk. Luke calls "Let's go!" and Yujin declares that as the sea breeze blows, he does as he pleases, and they both insert their Decks into their Duel Disks and call "Rush Duel!" as the blades deploy, Luke's the usual red, and Yujin's blue.

The green holographic sphere appears around them, and Yujin declares that it's the man of the sea's turn and draws, striking a pose as he does so. His hand containing "Umi", "Light Dolphin", "Takriminos", "Spike Seadra", and "Seastorm of Iruqua", Yujin tells his Sea Serpents to assemble as he Summons "Takriminos" and "Light Dolphin", the latter of which Romin finds cute. Then Yujin activates the Field Spell Card "Umi", removing the artificial background for a holographic one as he explains that Sea Serpent monsters will gain 200 ATK and DEF, powering "Takriminos" and "Light Dolphin" up to 1700 and 700 ATK respectively. Then he activates the effect of "Light Dolphin", the heart on its head shining as he draws a card, "Dolphin King Iruqua", before Tributing "Takriminos" and "Light Dolphin" to Tribute Summon "Spike Seadra" and "Dolphin King Iruqua". Luke is shocked that the latter is just a dolphin, yet calls himself a king. Yujin reminds Luke that the effect of "Umi" will increase their ATK, and "Spike Seadra" rises to 1800 ATK, while "Iruqua" powers up to 2200, and Luke comments that it isn't bad for Sea Serpents.

Yuro comments that he hasn't seen many of these cards before, much to the surprise of Yuga, Romin and Gavin, and Yujin tells his older brother that he's obtained the treasure of the sea and become a man of the sea, catching everyone's interest, and he claims that it all started when he met Iruman, the dolphin he met the previous night. He swam with Iruman all night, and the next day Iruman gave him a box, asking him to take this treasure of the sea. Yujin accepted it gladly, and found that it contained a Deck of Duel Monsters cards. Having finished his story, Yujin simply states that's what happened, though Romin is more shocked that he was able to understand dolphin. Luke thinks it's no big deal given that he can speak pigeon (much to Romin's displeasure), and Yujin Sets a card and the man of the sea ends his turn.

Luke declares his turn and draws, his hand containing "Multistrike Dragon Dragias", "Sylphidra", "The Fire Dragon", "Dragorite", and "Dragon's Fortitude". He Summons "Dragorite", "The Fire Dragon" and "Sylphidra", all with 1500 ATK, then Tributes "Dragorite" and "The Fire Dragon" to Tribute Summon, chanting "Right now, in my galaxy, seven supernovas unleash a gamma-ray burst! Even if you tell me to stop, it's too late! Even if you tell me to stop, it's too late! There's a reason I said it twice. Come on out! Multistrike Dragon Dragias!" Luke then sends the top card of his Deck ("Piercing Dragon Bunker Strike") to the Graveyard to activate the "Gias Charge" effect of "Dragias". Yujin gasps in shock as lightning strikes around "Dragias", and Luke Sets a card, then orders "Dragias" to attack with "Striking Light Bullet of Explosive Supremacy", blasting the green flaming orbs from its body and destroying "Iruqua", reducing Yujin to 3700 LP. He declares that he's still in the fight, but Luke just orders the second attack of "Dragias"; "Dragon King Strike of Annihilative Supremacy", and "Dragias" blasts the orbs of fire from its body to form the orange and green fireball, destroying "Spike Seadra" and reducing Yujin to 3000 LP. Gavin cries that Luke destroyed all of Yujin's monsters, but Yuro just looks at the Duel thoughtfully as Luke orders "Sylphidra" to attack directly, and "Sylphidra" throws twin twisters at Yujin.

Yujin activates a Trap Card as Luke declared a direct attack, "Seastorm of Iruqua", which changes all monsters Luke controls into Defense Position. As "Dragias" and "Sylphidra" cross their arms and dull Luke can only gasp "What?!" as Yujin explains that he can also Special Summon "Dolphin King Iruqua" from his Graveyard. "Iruqua" surfaces again, Yujin reminding Luke that the effect of "Umi" will increase its ATK by 200, back to 2200. Luke can only end his turn in frustration.

Yujin chuckles and declares the man of the sea's turn, drawing five cards. He's drawn "Grand Extreme", "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus", "Shape of Aqua", "Dolphin Counterattack", and "Strange Seas", and he activates "Grand Extreme", transporting them underwater. Luke can only look at Yujin in shock as he (back in his shirt and strumming his guitar) comments that he's happiest while he's with Sea Serpent monsters. Luke is confused by his statement, especially when all the monsters Yujin has used thus far - "Iruqua", "Light Dolphin", "Spike Seadra", and "Takriminos" - surround Yujin joyfully, and Yujin laughs as well. Then a massive sea monster rises before Yujin, and he notes that he won't let them go until the Duel is over. Returning to the Duel he tells "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus" to come forth, and "Daedalus" appears from a sphere of water with 2600 ATK. Yuga, Romin, Gavin and Yuro all gasp in shock and Yujin adds that the effect of "Grand Extreme" will also return "Dragorite", "The Fire Dragon" and "Bunker Strike" from Luke's Graveyard to his Deck, then the effect of "Umi" increases the ATK of "Daedalus" by 200, powering it up to 2800 ATK. As Luke gasps, Yujin comments that it's too early to be speechless and he sends "Umi" to the Graveyard, restoring the artificial background, to activate the "Destruction Sea Burial" effect of "Daedalus". As "Daedalus" blasts a torrent of water from its maw, Yujin explains that it will destroy all other cards on the field, and Luke gasps "What?!" as his Set "Dragon's Fortitude", then "Sylphidra" and "Dragias" are all destroyed. Yuga is shocked that the effect can destroy all other cards, and as "Iruqua" shatters as well Gavin is shocked that "Daedalus" has an effect that powerful. Romin cries that all of Luke's monsters have been destroyed, and the ATK of "Daedalus" falls back to 2600. But Yujin isn't finished, much to Luke's shock, discarding his "Myserious Sea" to activate "Shape of Aqua", Special Summoning the WATER "Iruqua" from his Graveyard with its ATK reduced by 800, to 1200. Gavin gasps that Yujin was able to use the effect of "Daedalus" without restraint since he had "Shape of Aqua" ready, and Romin gasps that all of Yujin's cards have incredible effects, prompting Yuro to admit that Yujin might have obtained the treasure of the sea after all. Yujin Sets a card, then orders "Dolphin King Iruqua" to attack Luke directly, and "Iruqua" blasts green lasers from the jewels adorning it, battering Luke and reducing him to 2800 LP, then "Daedalus" attacks with "Levia Stream", breathing a waterspout from its jaws that engulfs Luke and reduces him to 200 LP, throwing him onto his back. Romin, Gavin and Yuga all gasp in shock, Yuga admitting Yujin's strength, and the man of the sea ends his turn, returning the ATK of "Iruqua" to 2000.

Luke gets back to his feet, declaring his turn and drawing five cards; "Fortitude Dragon", "Draco the Tiny", "Triad Drago", "Steel Strike Dragon Metagias", and "Nightbringer Dragon". He Summons "Fortitude Dragon", "Draco the Tiny" and "Triad Drago", then activates the effect of "Triad Drago" to draw a card - another "Fortitude Dragon". He Tributes "Draco the Tiny" and "Triad Drago" to Tribute Summon, chanting "A fist meta-hardened by hidden feelings! Pack yourself meta-full with fighting spirit and you'll open your eyes! Blow away the meter inside your heart, and beyond this galaxy's long wormhole, there you'll find the Andrometa Galaxy! Give 'em a meta-meta beating! Steel Strike Dragon Metagias!" Romin worries that even though Luke brought out a Level 7 monster it still won't be able to beat "Daedalus", but Luke just sends "Nightbringer Dragon" from his hand to the Graveyard to activate the effect of "Metagias", preventing it from being destroyed by Trap effects for the rest of the turn. Yujin gasps in shock, while Romin, Yuga and Gavin gasp in joy, and Luke Summons his other "Fortitude Dragon", then sends "Phoenix Dragon" from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to activate the effect of "Fortitude Dragon", causing it to emit heat waves that reduce the ATK of "Daedalus" by 400, to 2200. Romin celebrates that the ATK of "Daedalus" is lower than "Metagias" as Yujin grits his teeth behind his mask. Luke adds that he can also Set "Dragon's Fortitude" from his Graveyard and as he does so, he reminds Yujin that he has another "Fortitude Dragon", much to the Goha sibling's shock, so Luke can use the effect again. Yujin gasps "What?" as Gavin praises Luke's fortitude, and Luke sends "Shock Dragon" from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to activate the effect of his other "Fortitude Dragon", which emits its own heatwave and reduces "Daedalus" to 1800 ATK. He orders "Metagias" to attack, and "Metagias" opens its jaws.

And Yujin returns "Umi" from his Graveyard to his Deck to activate the Trap Card "Dolphin Counterattack", explaining its activation conditions as the Trap shines with red light and Luke gasps. The waters begin to roil around Luke and Yujin as Yujin explains that it will destroy the monster on Luke's field with the highest ATK, much to the shock of Romin, Gavin and Yuga. Luke calls Yujin naïve, reminding him that "Metagias" can't be destroyed by Trap effects, but Yujin holds up his finger and explains that his Trap has another effect; he can draw a card, and he takes his time to tell Luke that if he draws "Umi", Luke will take 500 damage. Luke cries "What?!" and Romin, Yuga and Gavin all realize that Luke only has 200 LP, so if he takes 500 damage he'll lose. Storm clouds build behind Yujin as he holds up his hand, asking the seas to lend him their power, and he prepares to draw, telling "Umi" to come as Luke watches in anticipation, then he draws, chanting the name of "Umi" repeatedly.

But he's drawn "Stream", and the storm clouds that had formed behind him pass as he sinks to his knees in disbelief. Then the artificial sea begins to drain beneath them, revealing Kaizo tangled in a large chain, who washes ashore. Seatbastian examines the chain and finds what it is connected to - the plug; Yuga and Gavin realizing that Kaizo has unplugged the ocean. Poor Swirly has just shown up in an Opabinia swimming costume and inflatable ring, only to stop in disappointment as he beholds the empty pit, and Yujin too is mournful of the sea's disappearance. Luke wastes no time in ordering the "Iron-Star Bullet of Explosive Supremacy" attack of "Metagias", who blasts the spiked ball of iron at "Daedalus" and destroys it, reducing Yujin to 2300 LP. Then Luke attacks "Iruqua" with the "Steel King Strike of Annihilative Supremacy" attack of "Metagias", who blasts a sphere of steel at "Iruqua", destroying it and reducing Yujin to 1800 LP. Finally Luke orders both of his "Fortitude Dragons" to attack Yujin directly, breathing streams of fire at Yujin that reduce his LP to zero and fling him into the air as he cries "Seeeeeeeeeeaaaaaa!" Yuro watches his younger borther go, murmuring his name.

Nail declares Luke the victor, prompting Luke to comment "Of course, of course," and Gavin congratulates him. Yuga praises Luke's comeback and Romin celebrates them being up two points. Luke rubs his finger under his nose, claiming that it's as expected of the King of Duels. Meanwhile, four Goha Enterprises Drones surround Yujin as he falls through the air, and after noting that they've come he takes responsibility for his loss and declares his resignation as president of Goha. Two more Drones float by, removing Yujin's badge from his shirt, and then all six leave, Yujin musing that he still has some training to do, before splashing into the ocean as he calls its name. In the Goha Siblings' ship, Yuo acknowledges Yujin's resignation and the elderly Drone asks who will Duel next; will it be young master Yuran? But Yuka hops off her seat, commenting that it looks like it's her turn to bat.

Meanwhile, a distraught Mimi is collecting her belongings, asking just who the six Goha presidential siblings are anyway, muttering ruefully that they were just playing carefree out in their spaceship until a little while ago. She leaves her former office after looking sadly back at her desk one last time, but beneath the floor, something has activated...

Featured Duel: Lucidien "Luke" Kallister vs Yujin Goha[edit]

The Duel is conducted as a Rush Duel.

Turn 1: Yujin
Yujin's hand contains "Umi", "Light Dolphin", "Takriminos", "Spike Seadra", and "Seastorm of Iruqua". Yujin Normal Summons "Takriminos" (1500/1200) and "Light Dolphin" (500/1000). Yujin activates the Field Spell "Umi". The effect of "Umi" increases the ATK/DEF of all Fish, Sea Serpent, Thunder, and Aqua monsters on the field by 200 and decreases the ATK/DEF of all Machine and Pyro monsters on the field by 200 ("Takriminos": 1500/1200 → 1700/1200) ("Light Dolphin": 500/1000 → 700/1200). Yujin activates the effect of "Light Dolphin", drawing a card. He draws "Dolphin King Iruqua". Yujin Tributes "Tarkiminos" and "Light Dolphin" to Tribute Summon "Dolphin King Iruqua" (2000/500 → 2200/700) and "Spike Seadra" (1600/1300 → 1800/1500) respectively. Yujin Sets a card.

Turn 2: Luke
Luke's hand contains "Multistrike Dragon Dragias", "Sylphidra", "The Fire Dragon", "Dragorite", and "Dragon's Fortitude". Luke Normal Summons "Sylphidra" (1500/0), "The Fire Dragon" (1500/0), and "Dragorite" (1500/0). Luke Tributes "The Fire Dragon" and "Dragorite" to Tribute Summon "Multistrike Dragon Dragias" (2500/1500). Luke activates the effect of "Dragias", sending the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard to allow it to declare a second attack during the Battle Phase in which it destroyed a monster Yujin controls by battle. Luke sends "Piercing Dragon Bunker Strike" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard. Luke Sets a card. "Dragias" attacks and destroys "Iruqua" (Yujin: 4000 → 3700 LP), then attacks and destroys "Spike Seadra" (Yujin: 3700 → 3000 LP). "Sylphidra" attacks Yujin directly, but as a monster Luke controls declared a direct attack while Yujin controls a face-up "Umi" or "Big Umi", Yujin activates his Set Trap "Seastorm of Iruqua", changing the battle positions of all face-up monsters Luke controls, then Special Summoning a "Dolphin King Iruqua" from his Graveyard. Yujin changes "Dragias" and "Sylphidra" to face-up Defense Position and Special Summons "Iruqua" (2000/500 → 2200/700) from his Graveyard in Attack Position.

Turn 3: Yujin
Yujin draws "Grand Extreme", "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus", "Shape of Aqua", "Dolphin Counterattack", and "Strange Seas". Yujin activates the Spell "Grand Extreme", Special Summoning a Fish or Sea Serpent monster from his hand, then he can choose up to five monsters in Luke's Graveyard and shuffle them into his Deck. Yujin Special Summons "Daedalus" (2600/1500 → 2800/1700) from his hand in Attack Position, then shuffles "Bunker Strike", "Dragorite", and "The Fire Dragon" from Luke's Graveyard into his Deck. Yujin activates the effect of "Daedalus", sending a face-up "Umi" he controls to the Graveyard to destroy all other cards on the field. Yujin sends "Umi" to the Graveyard and destroys "Iruqua", "Dragias", "Sylphidra", and Luke's Set "Dragon's Fortitude". Yujin activates the Spell "Shape of Aqua", sending a Spell/Trap from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon a WATER Normal Monster from his Graveyard, but that monster loses 800 ATK until the end of this turn. Yujin sends "Strange Seas" from his hand to the Graveyard and Special Summons "Iruqua" (2000/500 → 1200/500) from his Graveyard in Attack Position. "Iruqua" and "Daedalus" attack Luke directly (Luke: 4000 → 2800 → 200 LP).

Turn 4: Luke
Luke draws "Fortitude Dragon", "Draco the Tiny", "Triad Drago", "Steel Strike Dragon Metagias", and "Nightbringer Dragon". Luke Normal Summons "Fortitude Dragon" (900/1100), "Draco the Tiny" (0/1400), and "Triad Drago" (300/1300). As Yujin controls a Level 7 or higher monster and Luke controls two non-Level 3 Dragon monsters, he activates the effect of "Triad Drago", drawing a card. He draws "Fortitude Dragon". Luke Tributes "Draco the Tiny" and "Triad Drago" to Tribute Summon "Steel Strike Dragon Metagias" (2500/1500). Luke activates the effect of "Metagias", sending a Level 7 or higher Dragon monster from his hand to the Graveyard to prevent it from being destroyed by battle or by Yujin's Trap effects this turn, and if it attacks a monster Yujin controls this turn, it can make a second attack on a monster during that Battle Phase. Luke sends "Nightbringer Dragon" from his hand to the Graveyard. Luke Normal Summons a second "Fortitude Dragon" (900/1100). Luke activates the effect of a "Fortitude Dragon", sending the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard to choose a face-up monster Yujin controls with 2000 or more ATK to have it lose 400 ATK until the end of this turn, then Luke can choose a "Dragon's Fortitude" in his Graveyard, and set it in his Spell & Trap Zone. Luke sends "Phoenix Dragon" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard and chooses "Daedalus" ("Daedalus": 2600/1500 → 2200/1500), then Sets "Dragon's Fortitude" from his Graveyard. Luke activates the effect of the other "Fortitude Dragon", sending "Shock Dragon" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard and choosing "Daedalus" ("Daedalus": 2200/1500 → 1800/1500). "Metagias" attacks "Daedalus", but Yujin activates his Set Trap "Dolphin Counterattack", returning a "Umi" or "Big Umi" from his Graveyard to his Deck to destroy the face-up monster Luke controls with the highest ATK, then draw a card and reveal it, and if that card is "Umi" or "Big Umi", Luke takes 500 damage. Yujin shuffles "Umi" into his Deck, then the effect of "Dolphin Counterattack" would destroy "Metagias", but due to the effect of "Metagias" it is not destroyed, then Yujin draws "Stream". The attack continues and "Daedalus" is destroyed (Yujin: 3000 → 2300 LP). "Metagias" attacks and destroys "Iruqua" (Yujin: 2300 → 1800 LP). Both copies of "Fortitude Dragon" attack Yujin directly (Yujin: 1800 → 900 → 0 LP).

Trivia[edit]

  • When Iruman first meets Yujin, a snippet of music that closely resembles the iconic theme of Jaws plays, as initially only Iruman's fin could be seen, making it resemble a shark.
  • While "Umi" makes its debut in SEVENS in this episode, it was previously mentioned in card effects shown in prior episodes.
