"From the Ashes", known as "Radiance of the Phoenix" in the Japanese version, is the ninety-fifth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on March 27, 2019, and aired in Canada on November 29, 2020.
Bohman boasts that he has obtained a power that transcends human intellect itself and allows him to manipulate luck. Empowered by their bonds, Soulburner and Flame drive Bohman into a corner with their "Salamangreat" monsters. However, something abnormal suddenly happens to Flame.
In Den City's main courtyard, Aso and Dr. Genome approach Café Nom. Aso notes that there it is, remembering Varis's request to get Kolter; he had revealed to Aso where the hotdog truck was. Aso enters the truck and finds Kolter slumped comatose against the wall, and Genome muses that it's definitely Kolter (in the dub, Aso muses that he'd think Kolter was sleeping if he didn't know better), before glancing at the screen and spotting Bohman and Soulburner's Duel in Mirror LINK VRAINS.
Soulburner is still on 4000 LP and controls the reincarnated 2300 ATK "Salamangreat Heatleo", while Bohman only has 2300 LP and the 0 ATK "Paradox Hydradrive Atlas". Bohman declares that God rolls the die (in the dub, he declares that this roll will decide Soulburner's fate) and declares "Judgment Dice" as he generates the die in between his hands. Soulburner and Flame watch intently as the die lands on WATER, making "Paradox Hydradrive Atlas" a WATER monster. Bohman then activates the additional effect of "Atlas", rolling a die once per turn to Special Summon a "Hydradrive" Link Monster from his Extra Deck with a Link Rating equal to the result. "Atlas" glows blue and Bohman declares "Judgment Dice" once again, generating the dice in between his hands. This time he lands on the WIND symbol; four, so he Special Summons a Link-4 monster, "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch". Bohman then activates the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" as it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, placing four Hydradrive Counters on it. It gains its four Attributes, but then due to the effect of "Atlas", the monsters in the zones it points to become the same Attribute as "Atlas"; "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" loses its four Attributes and simply becomes WATER. Bohman claims that using FIRE isn't the only way to deal with a FIRE Duelist; the WATER Attribute he acquired is perfect for Soulburner, and he raises his hand and generates Aqua's symbol in his palm (in the dub, Bohman likens his original strategy to the saying of fighting fire with fire, but admits that it may have been wiser to douse Soulburner's flames with water instead). Flame muses that Bohman has sidestepped the effect of "Salamangreat Shrine" since he no longer controls a FIRE monster (in the dub he calls it a high-level maneuvure). Bohman adds that God is rolling the dice for a third time and activates the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", removing a Hydradrive Counter to roll a die and send all monsters Soulburner controls with the corresponding Attribute to the Graveyard, then inflict 500 damage to Soulburner for each one. "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" releases the six rings from its staff, then they concentrate into a sphere and generate the rainbow energy mirrored in Bohman's hands as the dice rolls and Bohman declares "Judgment Dice".
He rolls FIRE Attribute, so "Heatleo" is sent to the Graveyard and Soulburner takes 500 damage. Soulburner gasps in shock and looks up at his ace monster as it disintegrates and he falls to 3500 LP. He grits his teeth as Ai cries that this is bad; Soulburner's field is empty, while Varis watches silently. Bohman declares his Battle Phase and attacks Soulburner directly with "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", who blasts a torrent of energy from its staff that blasts Soulburner backwards, and he lands hard as his LP falls to 500. Flame emerges from Soulburner's Duel Disk with a groan and he asks if Soulburner is okay, but then his body glitches again and he doubles over, wondering what that shock was (in the dub, he comments that it was quite a blow and then doubles over, thinking that it may have been harder than he thought). Bohman Sets two cards and he ends his turn, and Soulburner gets to his feet with a curse. Ai gasps that was close; Soulburner took 3000 damage from one attack, and he looks back and tells Playmaker to wake up already because Soulburner is in a pinch. (In the dub, Ai gasps that Bohman's evolving so fast that he's probably almost as smart as Ai, before trying to wake Playmaker, protesting that he's supposed to correct him when Ai says stuff like this, and Ai even gave him the perfect opening.)
Soulburner yells that he's coming, and he declares his turn and draws. Flame emerges from his Duel Disk, and he warns Soulburner that a monster that uses luck may seem like a reckless strategy, but the randomness is actually calculated. Soulburner asks what Flame means, and Flame explains that A.I. don't have the same insight that humans do, so Bohman is using luck to compensate. Soulburner asks if Bohman can really suddenly just do that, and Flame admits that Bohman is an excellent A.I., but dice create a huge number of Duel patterns that are nearly impossible to instantly calculate and Bohman can't be that excellent. Soulburner admits that Bohman might be using a trick, but now's not the time and he'll make luck his ally too. (In the dub, Flame and Soulburner instead discuss Bohman's claim that he can manipulate luck, with Flame pointing out the odds that Bohman would roll his dice correctly three times in a row. Soulburner is of the mind that it isn't impossible, while Flame sees it as highly improbable. Soulburner claims that their teamwork is more powerful than Bohman's luck). He activates the effect of "Salamangreat Shrine" by revealing the "Salamangreat Sanctuary" in his hand, returning his hand to the Deck to draw the same number of cards. Drawing an entire hand of six new cards, Soulburner then activates the Continuous Spell Card "Will of the Salamangreat", Special Summoning a "Salamangreat" monster from his Graveyard, and he revives "Heatleo". Bohman then activates the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", and Flame gasps that he knew Bohman would use it. Soulburner thinks that this is bad; if Bohman rolls FIRE, Soulburner loses (in the dub, Soulburner thinks that they're about to find out how lucky Bohman is).
But Bohman rolls WATER, and Flame gasps that he missed. Soulburner sighs in relief as Bohman notes that he barely escaped defeat (in the dub, Bohman comments that it was very fortunate that Soulburner survived). Soulburner agrees that it seems Bohman failed, and Soulburner will end this quickly. He activates the effect of "Salamangreat Shrine", Reincarnation Link Summoning "Salamangreat Heatleo", then activates the effect of "Heatleo" as it was Link Summoned, returning a card in Bohman's Spell & Trap Zone to his Deck (in the dub, Soulburner also uses "Heatleo's" summoning chant). As Bohman's two Set cards appear, Soulburner wonders which one to target, and Bohman comments that Soulburner's odds are one in two (in the dub, he claims that one is worse than the other). Soulburner thinks that this choice may determine who wins and who loses, and he chooses the card on his right. Bohman promptly chains the other one, the Trap Card "Card of Pandora", and as Soulburner gasps "What?" Bohman explains that its effect changes the target to it, then he draws two cards. Flame muses that the result would have been the same no matter their choice, and Soulburner admits that the move wasn't bad (in the dub he is bitter over how funny Bohman thinks he is). He activates the effect of the Reincarnation Link Summoned "Heatleo", making the ATK of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" the same as the "Salamangreat Mole" in his Graveyard, declaring "Flame Possession" as "Heatleo" breathes a plume of fire shaped like its claws at "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", reducing its ATK to zero. Bohman asks "What?" in surprise (in the dub, he angrily says "No!"), and Ai cheers Soulburner on, then turns to Playmaker and tells him to hurry up and wake up or he'll miss the best part.
Yusaku sees himself dozing at a desk, as Kolter's voice tells him to wake up. Yusaku shuts his eyes tighter, asking Kolter to let him sleep longer, but Kolter tells him that he said to wake up. Yusaku buries his face in his arms, claiming that he's tired and has had it with everything, telling Kolter to leave him alone. Kolter tells Yusaku to wake up; there's something he still needs to do. Yusaku wonders what it is, and Kolter tells him that it's his final request. He remembers Kolter transforming into data (in the dub, Kolter tells him that favor is to wake up now), and then Playmaker wakes up in Mirror LINK VRAINS. Ai gasps that Playmaker is finally awake, and Playmaker gets to his feet, stating that Kolter woke him up. He looks up at the broadcast globe to see Soulburner and asks if Soulburner is Dueling. Ai confirms that Soulburner is Dueling Bohman.
Soulburner declares his Battle Phase, ordering "Heatleo" to attack "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch". As "Heatleo" spirals through the air engulfed in flames, Bohman activates the Continuous Trap Card "Dice Logic", rolling a die when Soulburner's monster attacks and reducing the ATK of "Heatleo" to zero if it is an odd number, but doubling its ATK if the roll is even. Soulburner muses that the odds are one in two, but Bohman reveals that if he rolls a five or less he can use a number that is one higher since he already used "Judgment Dice" this turn. Soulburner gasps "What?!" and Flame muses that the ATK of "Heatleo" will be reduced to zero unless Bohman rolls a six. Soulburner angrily asks what's up with that as Bohman declares "Judgment Dice"; and he rolls WATER, a two (in the dub Soulburner asks how that's fair, and Bohman asks who said it was). Flame gasps the result, and Bohman uses the effect of "Dice Logic" to add one to the result, treating it as three and reducing the ATK of "Heatleo" to zero as it corkscrews towards "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" and crashes into an energy shield. Soulburner curses that Bohman avoided the attack, and Flame wonders if Bohman is really calculating the odd of luck before suddenly glitching again (in the dub Flame wonders if they really would have won had they got the right roll). Soulburner asks Flame what's wrong, and he claims that he's fine. Bohman claims that the evolutionary speed of an A.I. is much faster than anyone can imagine; it will quickly spread and take over the human world, and at its end is the ultimate A.I.; Bohman himself. Soulburner angrily asks if this is why Bohman thinks they don't need humans and he snaps at him to stop pretending to be a god. Bohman smiles and he asks if Soulburner thinks that humans can stay at the top forever; even now Soulburner is relying on Flame. Soulburner retorts that Bohman doesn't understand anything; he thinks of Flame as his partner before he thinks of him as an A.I. Flame whispers Soulburner's name, and Soulburner admits that he doesn't really get what an A.I. is, but he was able to cheer up because of Flame, and he's here now because he met Playmaker, and that's it. No matter what happens to the world, Soulburner's soul will not change; he fights for what he believes in. (In the dub, Soulburner and Bohman instead compare all of their capabilities. Bohman claims that Flame is a million times smarter than Soulburner, while Bohman himself is that magnitude more intelligent than Flame. Soulburner denies this, stating that Bohman is above all not a better friend to him than Flame is.) Bohman has no response, and Flame ecstatically tells Soulburner that he's finally saying impressive things - and then he glitches again and he doubles over in agony. Soulburner gasps in shock and he asks Flame what's wrong, is he okay? Flame doesn't respond, groaning in anguish (in the dub he can only cry that he doesn't know).
He continues to glitch, and then green substance erupts from his chest as he groans. Soulburner cries "What?!" as the substance solidifies into the twisted form of Windy, his bandages and clothing gone and his black wounds smearing throughout his body as he giggles madly. Soulburner gasps that it's Windy, and Flame gurgles in pain as he gasps Windy's name and his arm begins to shrivel. Windy sneers that he told Flame he would curse him (in the dub he mocks Flame for not greeting him), his body pulsating as he brings himself closer to Flame and he gloats that the impact from the Duel hid the fact that he rewrote Flame's program. Flame remembers glitching as "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" attacked them, and he snarls that was Windy's doing. Windy tells Flame that it's too late to realize that now (in the dub he warns Flame that he told him he should have erased him), and Flame groans in agony. Soulburner yells at Windy to stop and get away from Flame, but as he reaches for Windy, the mad Wind Ignis's left arm expands and surges towards Soulburner's hand, engulfing it in green substance. Windy tells Soulburner to stay calm, as he's nothing compared to Flame. As Soulburner grits his teeth, Windy comments that he's changed his mind and states that Flame gave him quite the hard time, so he'll pay him back in full. His blackened eye reverts to red, and Windy tells Flame that he can watch his partner be eaten, cackling madly as Flame's Avatar continues to shrivel and Windy's substance turns black as it spreads up Soulburner's arm. Bohman orders Windy to stop, but Windy snaps at him to be quiet and not to order him around but just stay quiet and watch. He bursts out laughing again and Flame weakly says Soulburner's name as he shrivels even further.
As his substance reaches Soulburner's shoulder, Windy snaps that it's over, and he screams at them to vanish, but then he suddenly chokes and begins to tremble, and Soulburner and Bohman both watch in shock as Windy curses, asking where Flame is getting that strength. Flame's flickering form swells and his eyes glow (in the dub he orders Windy to let Soulburner go), heat spreading up Windy's substance and Windy begins glitching and screaming in pain. As Windy's substance releases Soulburner, he shrieks at Flame to stop messing around, and Flame roars that he isn't and with a wild cry he begins to absorb Windy back into his body, who can only scream at Flame to stop it (in the dub, Windy snaps at Flame to let him go, and Flame retorts that he doesn't think he will). Flame's form is restored, but he begins to glitch again and he doubles over. Soulburner asks if Flame is all right, and Flame replies that he is (in the dub he weakly claims that he thinks he is). Bohman can't believe it; Flame was so close to being devastated, but he managed to regain control. Flame warns Bohman not to forget that his name is Flame; written as "indomitable soul dream", and pronounced "Flame". Bohman whispers "Indomitable soul", and Flame warns him to never underestimate the strength of his will. Soulburner comments that Flame is always overexerting himself, and Flame replies that of course he would for his partner. Soulburner whispers Flame's name happily. (In the dub, Flame insists that he couldn't let down Soulburner after being praised so, and Bohman agrees. Flame declares that he will fight until this war is won, and Soulburner adds that they'll do so together. Flame confirms that they'll be together until the end, a sentiment that Soulburner echoes).
But then Flame glitches again, and he slumps over in pain. Soulburner desperately asks Flame what's wrong, and Flame admits that it seems it's the end for him. Soulburner can only stammer "your end?" in shock and Flame tells Soulburner that he has one final request; to do whatever it takes to defeat Bohman. He was happy that Soulburner treated him as his equal, and he's counting on his partner to achieve the future that they both wanted. With a final thumbs up, Flame fragments into crimson shards of data that seep into Soulburner's Duel Disk. (In the dub, Flame admits that it seems his end has come despite what he just said, and he explains that his code is deteriorating. He reassures Theodore that he will never forget him, and hopes that Theodore will always remember him, once again reminding him that his name is "Flame"; F-L-A-M-E. The "F" stands for many things, but the one thing it will always stand for is "friend".)
Soulburner tearfully screams Flame's name to the sky, and as Playmaker grits his teeth in fury, Ai gasps that this is a joke, right? Varis watches quietly as Soulburner fights back tears and Bohman apologizes for being unable to help, stating that it doesn't look like this Duel can continue. But Soulburner warns Bohman that he doesn't get to choose that, for if he quits now then Flame saved him for no reason. He screams at Bohman to bring it on; they're continuing the Duel and it's no longer about humans or A.I. but a fight between him and Bohman (in the dub, he snarls that they aren't Dueling tomorrow or even the next day, they're Dueling now). Bohman smiles, and he eagerly agrees. Soulburner activates the Quick-Play Spell Card "Salamangreat Burning Shell", Special Summoning a "Salamangreat" monster from his hand with its effects negated. He Special Summons "Salamangreat Parro" and explains that the effect of "Burning Shell" will now allow him to Link Summon, and he chants "Appear! The circuit that changes the future!" setting "Salamangreat Parro" and the Link-3 "Heatleo" in the Link Arrows, Link Summoning the Link-4 "Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix" Bohman observes the Link-4, declaring that this is the power of Soulburner and Flame's friendship (in the dub, Bohman admits that he's never seen it before). As "Pyro Phoenix" settles in front of Soulburner, he explains that the monster Link Summoned by the effect of "Burning Shell" can't activate its effects or attack this turn. Bohman angrily asks what Soulburner is planning to do, and Soulburner declares that he's burning an even greater flame; the flame of his and Flame's souls (in the dub, Bohman protests that "Pyro Phoenix" is useless, and Soulburner warns him that nothing is useless). He activates another Quick-Play Spell Card, "Salamangreat Transcendence", using a "Salamangreat" monster he controls to Link Summon a "Salamangreat" Link Monster with the same name. Soulburner tells Flame "Here we go!" and as "Pyro Phoenix" flies towards the portal, Soulburner chants, "Phoenix! Throw yourself in the surging flames to awaken your immortal power! Super Reincarnation Link Summon! Be reborn, Link-4 Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix!" ("Pyro Phoenix! Let the flames engulf your body! Cause from its ashes you will be reborn! Super Reincarnation Link Summon! Soar, Link-4! Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix!") The Reincarnated "Pyro Phoenix" explodes with blue flames, and Playmaker takes note of the Super Reincarnation Link Summon, while even Bohman is shocked. Soulburner looks at his empty Duel Disk and he tells Flame to wait; with his new power, he'll make Flame's wish come true.
He explains that when "Pyro Phoenix" is Reincarnation Link Summoned, it destroys all cards Bohman controls. "Pyro Phoenix" blasts three streams of blue fire from its hands, destroying "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" and "Dice Logic", but as the third stream of fire approaches "Atlas", Bohman states that won't happen; "Atlas" can't be attacked or affected by Soulburner's card effects. The stream of fire explodes harmlessly before reaching "Atlas" and Soulburner gasps "What?" Bohman then activates the effect of "Dice Logic" since it was destroyed, Special Summoning a "Hydradrive" Link Monster from his Extra Deck, and he orders another "Rousing" to come forth. The effect of "Atlas" then makes "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" a WATER monster. But Special Summoning a Link Monster has activated the effect of "Pyro Phoenix", inflicting damage to Bohman equal to his monster's original ATK. Bohman refuses to let Soulburner do that, and he activates the Continuous Trap Card "Judgment Roll" from his hand, Tributing a "Hydradrive" Link Monster to have Soulburner roll a die. As "Rousing" explodes, Soulburner is shocked that he is the one rolling the dice, and Bohman reiterates that he accepts everything; Soulburner will determine his own fate. Ai asks if Bohman is seriously letting Soulburner roll, and Bohman explains that monsters with the Attribute that Soulburner rolls will have their ATK doubled until the end of the turn, while the ATK of all other monsters will become zero. Soulburner notes that if he rolls FIRE the ATK of "Pyro Phoenix" will be doubled, but if he rolls anything else... Bohman tells Soulburner that his roll will determine the future of humanity and the Ignis and he tells him to roll, a dice appearing in front of Soulburner. Soulburner admits that it's interesting, and he ignites his hand as he accepts the challenge (in the dub, he furiously declares that he isn't scared and doesn't care about the odds). He holds out his flaming hand and the dice begins to roll before him. Playmaker, Ai and Varis all watch as Soulburner thinks that the odds are one in six. He asks Flame to give him strength, and yells "Burning Dice!"
He's rolled FIRE, and Ai cheers that he did it, while Bohman seems impressed and Playmaker smiles. Soulburner declares that the ATK of "Pyro Phoenix" are now doubled, and "Pyro Phoenix" powers up to 5600 ATK. Ai repeats the ATK value in amazement, and even Playmaker smiles happily in agreement. Soulburner declares battle, and "Pyro Phoenix" attacks "Atlas", engulfing itself in blue flames in the shape of a bird, rising into the sky, then diving towards Bohman. As it does, Soulburner vows to Flame that he'll get revenge for the Cyberse (in the dub he yells that it's over).
But Bohman tells Soulburner that he won't succeed (in the dub, he comments that Soulburner would think it's over because he's only human), and he activates the Trap Card "Hydradrive Gravity" from his hand, moving "Pyro Phoenix" to the zone that "Atlas" points to. Soulburner gasps "What?!" as Bohman adds that the effect of "Atlas" will make "Pyro Phoenix" a WATER monster. "Atlas" blasts a torrent of water from its mouth, engulfing "Pyro Phoenix" and extinguishing its flames. Bohman declares that the ATK of "Pyro Phoenix" will now become zero due to the effect of "Judgment Roll", and Soulburner backs away in shock as he gasps "No way!" Bohman adds that Soulburner will now take damage equal to the original ATK of "Pyro Phoenix". Soulburner realizes that when Bohman had claimed to accept everything he knew he would win no matter the result of the dice roll, and he screams and curses in frustration as blue energy blasts from the "Judgment Dice" Trap and flings him into the air. Playmaker and Ai gasp in horror, and even Varis is shocked as Soulburner falls through the air, realizing that he's going to lose. He apologizes to Flame as his LP falls to zero and his Avatar turns red, fragmenting into data. He couldn't keep their promise. He weakly looks at his Duel Disk as his hand begins to fragment, thinking that he's leaving the rest to Playmaker as his Avatar finally fragments (in the dub, his wish to Playmaker is longer). Bohman then reaches out a glowing hand, and he absorbs the fragments and clenches his fist as first Windy and then Flame's symbols appear on his back.
Ai struggles to hold back sobs, while Playmaker grits his teeth in rage and whispers Soulburner's name. Varis watches silently as Bohman states that Soulburner was a good and honest human, but there's no place for him in his future (in the dub he declares that Soulburner was truly a worthy adversary, but he cannot allow anyone who opposes him to exist). Bohman will keep the knowledge of his existence deep in the recesses of his memories. He turns away, declaring that now he's finished his training for his Duel with Playmaker and he tells him to wait, while Playmaker watches defiantly.
Featured Duel: Soulburner vs. Bohman
Duel continues from the previous episode.
Soulburner has 4000 LP and controls "Salamangreat Heatleo" (2300/↙↑↘) in the Extra Monster Zone, as well as "Salamangreat Shrine" in his Field Zone. Bohman has 1700 LP and controls "Paradox Hydradrive Atlas" (0/↑←↓) in the Extra Monster Zone.
Turn 3: Bohman
As "Paradox Hydradrive Atlas" was Special Summoned, Bohman activates its effect, rolling a six-sided die and changing its Attribute to the one that corresponds with the die roll (● 1: EARTH ● 2: WATER ● 3: FIRE ● 4: WIND ● 5: LIGHT ● 6: DARK). He rolls a 2 ("Atlas" Attribute: EARTH → WATER). Bohman activates another effect of "Atlas": once per turn, he can roll a six-sided die, then Special Summon a "Hydradrive" Link Monster whose Link Rating is equal to the number rolled. Bohman rolls a 4, therefore he Special Summons the Link-4 "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" (3000/↑←↓→) to the Monster Zone the Bottom-Center Link Arrow of "Atlas" points to. As it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" activates, placing 4 Hydradrive Counters on itself (Hydradrive Counters: 0 → 4). Due to the effect of "Atlas", the Attributes of all monsters it points to become the same as it ("Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" Attribute: EARTH → WATER). Bohman activates the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", removing 1 Hydradrive Counter from it (Hydradrive Counters:4 → 3) to roll a six-sided die, and if his opponent controls a face-up monster(s) in their Monster Zone with an Attribute that corresponds to the result (● 1: EARTH ● 2: WATER ● 3: FIRE ● 4: WIND ● 5: LIGHT ● 6: DARK), then as many of those monsters as possible are sent to the GY, then his opponent takes damage equal to the number of monsters sent to the GY by this effect x500. He rolls a 3, therefore all FIRE monsters Soulburner controls are sent to the GY and he takes 500 damage for each. "Salamangreat Heatleo" is sent to the GY (Soulburner LP: 4000 → 3500). "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" attacks Soulburner directly (Soulburner LP: 3500 → 500). Bohman Sets two cards.
Turn 4: Soulburner
Soulburner activates the effect of "Salamangreat Shrine", revealing "Salamangreat Sanctuary in his hand to his opponent, then shuffles his entire hand into the Deck, then draw cards equal to the number shuffled. He shuffles six cards and draws six. Soulburner activates the Continuous Spell "Will of the Salamangreat". He activates the effect of "Will", letting him Special Summon a "Salamangreat" monster from his hand or GY once per turn. Soulburner Special Summons "Heatleo" (2300/↙↑↘) from his GY. At this moment, Bohman activates the effect of "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", removing 1 Hydradrive Counter from it (Hydradrive Counters: 3 → 2) and rolls a six-sided die, sending as many monsters his opponent controls as possible with an Attribute corresponding to the roll. He rolls a 2, which corresponds to WATER, therefore none are sent to the GY. When Soulburner Link Summons a "Salamangreat" Link Monster, the effect of "Shrine" allows him to use a "Salamangreat" Link Monster he controls with the same name as the entire Link Material instead. Soulburner sets "Heatleo" in the Link Arrows to Reincarnation Link Summon another "Heatleo". As "Heatleo" was Link Summoned, Soulburner activates it effect, targeting a Spell/Trap that his opponent controls and shuffle it into the Deck. He targets the Set card to his right. As his opponent activated a card or effect that targeted another card in his Spell & Trap Zone that could have targeted it and no other cards, Bohman activates the Trap "Card of Pandora", forcing the card/effect to target that card instead, and then its controller draws two cards. The target is changed to "Card of Pandora", then Bohman draws two cards. As it was Reincarnation Link Summoned, Soulburner activates the effect of "Heatleo", targeting a face-up monster on the field and a monster in his GY, and change the ATK of the first target to that of the second target. He targets "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" on the field and "Salamangreat Mole" in his GY ("Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" ATK: 3000 → 0). "Heatleo" attacks "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch". Bohman activates the Continuous Trap "Dice Logic" and activates its effect: once per opponent's attack, Bohman can target the attacking monster and roll a six-sided die, then apply the corresponding effect depending on the roll (● 1, 3, or 5: Change the ATK of the targeted monster and monsters with that same name to 0 until the end of this turn. ● 2, 4, or 6: The ATK of the targeted monster and monsters with that same name becomes double their current ATK until the end of this turn.). In addition, as Bohman activated the effect of another card that involved rolling a die this turn, if the result of a roll for this card's effect is a 5 or less, he can add 1 to that result. Bohman rolls a 2, which he changes to a 3 using the effect of "Dice Logic" ("Heatleo" ATK: 2300 → 0). Neither "Heatleo" nor "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" are destroyed due to both monsters being in Attack Position and having 0 ATK. Soulburner activates the Quick-Play Spell "Salamangreat Burning Shell", Special Summoning a "Salamangreat" monster from his hand with its effects negated (if any), then, immediately after this effect resolves, Soulburner Link Summons a "Salamangreat" Link Monster using monsters he controls, including that summoned monster, however for the rest of this turn, that Link Summoned monster cannot attack nor activate its effects. Soulburner Special Summons "Salamangreat Parro" from his hand, then immediately sets it and the Link-3 "Heatleo" (2 or more FIRE Effect Monsters) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Salamangreat Pyro Phoenix" (2800/↑←↓ → ).
Soulburner activates the Quick-Play Spell "Salamangreat Transcendence", targeting a "Salamangreat" Link Monster he controls, and Special Summoning a "Salamangreat" Link Monster with the same name as that monster from his Extra Deck (with that Special Summon being treated as a Link Summon). Soulburner targets "Pyro Phoenix" and uses it to Super Reincarnation Link Summon another "Pyro Phoenix". As it was Reincarnation Link Summoned, Soulburner activates the effect of "Pyro Phoenix", destroying all cards his opponent controls. Bohman's "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" and "Dice Logic" are destroyed, however as long as there is another monster on the field with the same Attribute as it, "Paradox Hydradrive Atlas" cannot be targeted for an attack and it is unaffected by the opponent's card effects, so it is not destroyed. As "Dice Logic" was destroyed by an opponent's card effect while it was face-up, Bohman activates its effect, Special Summoning a "Hydradrive" Link Monster from his Extra Deck. He Special Summons another "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" to the Monster Zone the Bottom-Center Link Arrow of "Atlas" points to. As "Atlas" is pointing to "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch", its Attribute is changed to match the Attribute of "Atlas" ("Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" Attribute: EARTH → WATER). As a Link Monster(s) was Special Summoned to his opponent's field, Soulburner activates the effect of "Pyro Phoenix", targeting one of those monsters and inflicting damage to his opponent equal to the targeted monster's original ATK. As his opponent activated a monster effect that targeted a Link Monster(s) he controls, Bohman activates the Continuous Trap "Judgment Roll" from his hand and activates its effect, Tributing one of the targets of that effect and forcing his opponent to roll a six-sided die, then applying the following effect depending on the result (● 1: EARTH ● 2: WATER ● 3: FIRE ● 4: WIND ● 5: LIGHT ● 6: DARK). Until the end of this turn, the ATK of all monsters on the field with the same Attribute as the corresponding roll are doubled, whereas the ATK of all other monsters on the field become 0 and their controllers take damage equal to the total original ATK of those monsters. Bohman Tributes "Rousing Hydradrive Monarch" and Soulburner rolls a 3, therefore the ATK of all FIRE monsters on the field are doubled ("Pyro Phoenix" ATK: 2800 → 5600), and the ATK of all other monsters becomes 0.
"Pyro Phoenix" attacks "Atlas". As an opponent's monster declared an attack while he controls a Link Monster in the Extra Monster Zone, Bohman activates the Trap "Hydradrive Gravity" from his hand, targeting that monster and moving it to an opponent's Main Monster Zone that a Link Monster he controls points to, and as that target's current ATK is higher than its original ATK, Bohman can activate this Trap from his hand. He moves "Pyro Phoenix" to the Main Monster Zone the Top-Center Link Arrow of "Atlas" points to. Due to the effect of "Atlas", all monsters it points to have their Attributes changed to its own Attribute ("Pyro Phoenix" Attribute: FIRE → WATER). Due to the effect of "Judgment Roll", the ATK of all non-FIRE monsters on the field becomes 0, and their controllers take damage equal to the original ATK of those monsters ("Pyro Phoenix" ATK: 5600 → 0, Soulburner LP: 500 → 0).
