Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Crow Hogan, and Rex Goodwin's Duel was the final Duel of the Dark Signer Arc of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime between Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Crow Hogan, and Rex Goodwin.

Prior Events[edit]

After the defeat of Misty Tredwell, the Signers reunite, assuming that every Dark Signer has now been defeated. However, from their vantage point in Satellite, they see the Condor Geoglyph appear in New Domino City, signalling that there is indeed another Dark Signer left to face. As they couldn't defeat all the Dark Signers before sunset of that day (as was their mission), the King of the Netherworld rises from the ruins of the first Ener-D reactor. The Crimson Dragon appears, transporting the Signers to the location of the Dark Signer.

To the surprise of the Signers, they appear on Rex Goodwin's island residence, where the Stairway to the Dragon Star has broken through the earth and is now visible to all. Here, Rex Goodwin reveals that he intentionally lost his previous Duel against his brother, Roman Goodwin, and in doing so, has been reborn as a Dark Signer. He then produces a capsule containing the power of Roman's original Signer Mark, which Roman had cast aside years ago. Taking control of that power, the complete mark of the Crimson Dragon appears on his chest, while the mark of the Condor appears on his back.

Rex declares that with the power of King of the Netherworld, he will destroy the world, then with the power of the Crimson Dragon, he will rebuild it as he wills. He challenges Yusei, Jack, and Crow to a ritualistic Turbo Duel, intending to sacrifice them to the King of the Netherworld. The three accept the challenge, and are transported to the Condor Geoglyph. The Duel begins.

Featured Duel: Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, and Crow Hogan vs. Rex Goodwin[edit]

At the start of the Duel, the Field Spell Card "Speed World" is activated, as per the rules of a Turbo Duel. Before the Duel, all players agree that Yusei, Jack, and Crow will start the Duel with 4000 LP each, while Rex will start with 12000 LP, and also that no player can declare an attack during their first turn.

Turn 1: Crow Hogan
Crow Summons "Blackwing - Mistral the Silver Shield" (100/1800) in Attack Position. Since he controls a "Blackwing" monster, he also Special Summons "Blackwing - Bora the Spear" (1700/800) from his hand in Attack Position. Crow Sets a card.

Turn 2: Jack Atlas
(Crow SPC: 0 → 1) (Jack SPC: 0 → 1) (Yusei SPC: 0 → 1) (Rex SPC: 0 → 1)
Normal Summons "Mad Archfiend" (1800/0) in Attack Position, then Sets a card.

Turn 3: Yusei Fudo
(Crow SPC: 1 → 2) (Jack SPC: 1 → 2) (Yusei SPC: 1 → 2) (Rex SPC: 1 → 2)
Normal Summons "Max Warrior" (1800/800) in Attack Position, then Sets a card.

Turn 4: Rex Goodwin
(Crow SPC: 2 → 3) (Jack SPC: 2 → 3) (Yusei SPC: 2 → 3) (Rex SPC: 2 → 3)
Since his opponent controls a monster while he does not, Rex Special Summons "Oracle of the Sun" (1000/2000) from his hand in Attack Position. He then Normal Summons "Fire Ant Ascator" (700/1300) in Attack Position. Rex tunes "Oracle of the Sun" to "Fire Ant Ascator" to Synchro Summon "Sun Dragon Inti" (3000/2800) in Attack Position.

Rex banishes "Fire Ant Ascator" from his Graveyard to Special Summon "Weeping Idol" from his hand in Attack Position. He then pays 1000 LP (Rex LP: 12000 → 11000) to Special Summon the Dark Tuner monster "Dark Tuner Dark Goddess Witaka" (0/0) in Attack Position. He activates the effect of "Witaka", making its Level become equal to that of "Sun Dragon Inti" (8). Rex Dark tunes "Witaka" to "Weeping Idol" to Dark Synchro Summon "Moon Dragon Quilla" (2500/2000) in Attack Position. Rex Sets 2 cards.

During the End Phase, the effect of "Moon Dragon Quilla" activates, destroying itself.

Turn 5: Crow
(Crow SPC: 3 → 4) (Jack SPC: 3 → 4) (Yusei SPC: 3 → 4) (Rex SPC: 3 → 4)
Crow activates "Speed Spell - Tune Up 123", targeting his "Mistral the Silver Shield" and rolling a six-sided die. If he rolls a 1 or 2, its Level will increase by 1, by 2 if he rolls a 3 or 4, or by 3 if he rolls a 5 or 6. He rolls a 2, so the Level of his monster increases by 1 to 3. He tunes "Bora the Spear" to "Mistral the Silver Shield" to Synchro Summon "Blackwing Armor Master" (2500/1500) in Attack Position. Since he controls a "Blackwing" monster, Crow Normal Summons "Blackwing - Elphin the Raven" (2200/1200) in Attack Position without Tributing.

Crow attacks "Sun Dragon Inti" with "Blackwing Armor Master". By its own effects, "Blackwing Armor Master" is not destroyed, and Crow takes no damage. In addition, a Wedge Counter is placed on "Sun Dragon Inti". Crow then removes that Counter to reduce the ATK and DEF of "Sun Dragon Inti" to 0. Crow attacks and destroys "Sun Dragon Inti" with "Elphin the Raven" (Rex LP: 11000 → 8800). By the effect of "Speed World", Rex also loses Speed Counters for every multiple of 1000 damage taken (Rex SPC: 4 → 2). Rex activates the effect of "Sun Dragon Inti", destroying "Elphin the Raven" and inflicting damage to Crow equal to its ATK (Crow LP: 4000 → 1800; Crow SPC: 4 → 2). Since "Sun Dragon Inti" was destroyed, Rex activates the effect of "Moon Dragon Quilla" in his Graveyard, Special Summoning it in Defense Position. Crow Sets two cards.

Turn 6: Jack
(Crow SPC: 2 → 3) (Jack SPC: 4 → 5) (Yusei SPC: 4 → 5) (Rex SPC: 2 → 3)
Jack Sets a card, then Normal Summons "Magic Hole Golem" (0/2000) in Defense Position. He activates the effect of "Magic Hole Golem", halving the ATK of "Mad Archfiend" (1800 → 900/0) so that "Mad Archfiend" can attack Rex directly this turn. Jack attacks Rex directly with "Mad Archfiend" (Rex LP: 8800 → 7900). Crow activates his Set "Shadow Dance", inflicting another 1000 damage to Rex (Rex LP: 7900 → 6900; Rex SPC: 3 → 2). Yusei then activates his Set "Rising Rush", Special Summoning "Junk Synchron" (1300/500) from his hand in Attack Position. During his End Phase, the effect of "Magic Hole Golem" expires (900 → 1800/0).

Turn 7: Yusei
(Crow SPC: 3 → 4) (Jack SPC: 5 → 6) (Yusei SPC: 5 → 6) (Rex SPC: 2 → 3)
Yusei tunes "Max Warrior" to "Junk Synchron" to Synchro Summon "Junk Archer" (2300/2000) in Attack Position. He activates the effect of "Junk Archer", banishing "Moon Dragon Quilla" until the End Phase.

Yusei attacks Rex directly with "Junk Archer", but Rex counters with his Set "Offering to the Immortals, negating the Attack, Special Summoning 2 "Ceremonial Tokens" (0/0 each) in Attack Position, and adding an "Earthbound Immortal" monster to his hand. Yusei Sets two cards. During the End Phase, "Moon Dragon Quilla" returns to the field.

Turn 8: Rex
(Crow SPC: 4 → 5) (Jack SPC: 6 → 5) (Yusei SPC: 6 → 7) (Rex SPC: 3 → 4)
Rex Tributes his two "Ceremonial Tokens" to Tribute Summon "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" (1/1) in Attack Position. He activates the effect of "Wiraqocha Rasca", skipping his Battle Phase to reduce Yusei's LP to 1. However, Crow activates his Set "Life Exchange" to direct the effect towards him, instead (Crow LP: 1800 → 1). Crow then activates the last effect of "Life Exchange" to destroy "Moon Dragon Quilla". Since it was destroyed, Rex activates the effect of "Moon Dragon Quilla", Special Summoning "Sun Dragon Inti" from his Graveyard in Attack Position.

Crow activates his Set "Blackwing Anchor", Tributing his "Blackwing Armor Master". At any future point, he can use the effect of "Blackwing Anchor" against Rex.

At this point, Crow crashes and is unable to continue, and control of his remaining cards pass to the rest of his team. Rex Sets a card.

Turn 9: Jack
(Jack SPC: 7 → 8) (Yusei SPC: 7 → 8) (Rex SPC: 4 → 5)
Jack Normal Summons "Sinister Sprocket" (400/0) in Attack Position. He tunes "Mad Archfiend" and "Magic Hole Golem" to "Sinister Sprocket" to Synchro Summon "Red Dragon Archfiend" (3000/2000) in Attack Position.

Jack activates his Set "Half Straight", halving the ATK of "Red Dragon Archfiend" (3000 → 1500/2000) until his next Standby Phase. While the ATK of "Red Dragon Archfiend" is lower than the ATK of Rex's strongest monster, "Red Dragon Archfiend" can attack Rex directly. Jack attacks Rex directly with "Red Dragon Archfiend", but Rex activates the effect of "Sun Dragon Inti", reducing its own ATK to 0 (3000 → 0/2800). "Red Dragon Archfiend" can no longer attack Rex directly.

Yusei activates his Set "Scrubbed Raid". Now Jack or Yusei can send 1 card they control to the Graveyard to end the Battle Phase. Jack chooses not to use this effect and attacks "Sun Dragon Inti" with "Red Dragon Archfiend" (Rex LP: 6900 → 5400; Rex SPC: 5 → 4). The effect of "Sun Dragon Inti" activates, destroying "Red Dragon Archfiend" and inflicting its ATK as damage to Jack (Jack LP: 4000 → 2500; Jack SPC: 8 → 7). Since "Sun Dragon Inti" was destroyed, Rex activates the effect of "Moon Dragon Quilla" in his Graveyard, Special Summoning it in Defense Position. Jack Sets a card.

Turn 10: Yusei
(Jack SPC: 7 → 8) (Yusei SPC: 8 → 9) (Rex SPC: 4 → 5)
Yusei activates the effect of "Junk Archer" to banish "Moon Dragon Quilla" until the End Phase, but Rex activates his Set "Destruct Potion", destroying his "Moon Dragon Quilla" and gaining LP equal to its ATK (Rex LP: 5400 → 7900). Since its target left the field, the effect of "Junk Archer" is negated. Since it was destroyed, Rex activates the effect of "Moon Dragon Quilla", Special Summoning "Sun Dragon Inti" from his Graveyard in Attack Position.

Turn 11: Rex
(Jack SPC: 8 → 9) (Yusei SPC: 9 → 10) (Rex SPC: 5 → 6)
Jack activates his Set "Fiendish Chain" by targeting "Sun Dragon Inti". While Jack's LP remain above 1000, that monster's effects are negated, it can't attack, and it can't be Tributed. Rex activates the effect of "Wiraqocha Rasca" again, skipping his Battle Phase to reduce Jack's LP to 1 (Jack LP: 2500 → 1), destroying "Fiendish Chain".

At this point, Jack crashes and is unable to continue, and control of his remaining cards pass to the rest of his team. Rex Sets a card.

Turn 12: Yusei
(Yusei SPC: 10 → 11) (Rex SPC: 6 → 7)
Yusei activates the effect of "Junk Archer", banishing "Sun Dragon Inti" until the End Phase, but Rex activates his Set "Passion of Baimasse", negating the effect and destroying "Junk Archer". Yusei Normal Summons "Shield Warrior" (800/1600) in Defense Position, then Sets a card.

Turn 13: Rex
(Yusei SPC: 11 → 12) (Rex SPC: 7 → 8)
Rex activates the effect of "Wiraqocha Rasca" again, skipping his Battle Phase to reduce Yusei's LP to 1 (Yusei LP: 4000 → 1; Yusei SPC: 12 → 9). Yusei manages to hold on and continue the Duel.

Turn 14: Yusei
(Yusei SPC: 9 → 10) (Rex SPC: 8 → 9)
Since he has at least 2 Speed Counters, Yusei activates "Speed Spell - Angel Baton" to draw 2 cards, then send 1 card in his hand to the Graveyard. Yusei Normal Summons "Debris Dragon" (1000/2000) in Attack Position, then activates its effect to Special Summon "Sonic Chick" (300/300) from his Graveyard in Attack Position with its effects negated. Yusei tunes "Shield Warrior" and "Sonic Chick" to "Debris Dragon" to Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon" (2500/2000) in Attack Position.

Yusei then activates the effect of Crow's "Blackwing Anchor", sending it to the Graveyard to increase the ATK of "Stardust Dragon" by the ATK of "Blackwing Armor Master" (2500 → 5000/2000). Yusei attacks "Sun Dragon Inti" with "Stardust Dragon" (Rex LP: 7900 → 5900; Rex SPC: 9 → 7). Rex activates the effect of "Sun Dragon Inti" to destroy "Stardust Dragon" and inflict damage to Yusei equal to its ATK, but Yusei activates the effect of "Stardust Dragon", Tributing it to negate the effect of "Sun Dragon Inti". As it was destroyed, Rex activates the effect of "Sun Dragon Inti", Special Summoning "Moon Dragon Quilla" from his Graveyard, but Yusei activates Jack's Set "Conquest of the Supreme Ruler", sending it to the Graveyard to negate the Summon of "Moon Dragon Quilla". During the End Phase, "Stardust Dragon" returns to Yusei's field.

Turn 15: Rex
(Yusei SPC: 10 → 11) (Rex SPC: 7 → 8)
Rex attacks Yusei directly with "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" with its own effect, but Yusei sends "Scrubbed Raid" to the Graveyard to end the Battle Phase. Rex then activates his Set "Meteor Flare" to discard 2 cards and inflict 2000 damage to Yusei; however, Yusei counters with his Set "Joint Future", discarding 1 card to negate the effect of "Meteor Flare" and return it to Rex's Deck. (This prevents Rex from activating the other effect of "Meteor Flare" that would allow Rex to add it from his Graveyard to his hand during his next Draw Phase.)

Turn 16: Yusei
(Yusei SPC: 11 → 12) (Rex SPC: 8 → 9)
Since he controls "Stardust Dragon", Yusei Special Summons "Stardust Xiaolong" (100/100) from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He then Normal Summons "Majestic Dragon" (0/0) in Attack Position.

He tunes "Stardust Dragon" and "Stardust Xiaolong" to "Majestic Dragon" to Synchro Summon "Majestic Star Dragon" (3800/3000) in Attack Position. He activates the effect of "Majestic Star Dragon", negating the effects of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" and granting those effects to "Majestic Star Dragon". Yusei then activates his Set "Synchro Baton", increasing the ATK of his "Majestic Star Dragon" by 600 for every Synchro Monster in his team's Graveyard. There are 4 in total (3800 → 6200/3000). Yusei attacks "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" with "Majestic Star Dragon" (Rex LP: 5900 → 0).

Aftermath[edit]

After the defeat of the last Dark Signer, the Crimson Dragon takes a physical form and battles the King of the Netherworld. Meanwhile, Yusei has a vision of the spirits of the Goodwin brothers, Dark Signers no longer. After sharing words, the pair return the souls of the previously defeated Dark Signers; however, the two brothers disappear together in a beam of light, never to be seen again. The Crimson Dragon destroys the King of the Netherworld. Finally, the threat of the Dark Signers passes.
