Akira (Duel Monsters) |
Akira (アキラ Akira) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. His name is not spoken onscreen, but is used in closed captions and the ending credits.
Akira is based on a generic Duelist from the manga. The trauma and threats of violence and extortion directed at him in the manga are toned down in the anime.
Biography[edit]
Akira participated in the Battle City tournament, where he was defeated by Koji Nagumo in the preliminaries. Koji physically beat Akira afterwards, dissatisfied with the card Akira was giving him due to the ante rule. Akira reminded Koji that he had agreed with that ante before the Duel started. However Koji changed his mind and said that the loser must obey the winner.[1]
Mokuba Kaiba intervened the dispute, as Battle City commissioner. When Koji disrespected Mokuba, Seto Kaiba also intervened and faced Koji in a Duel. At the end of the Duel, Akira looked at Koji, who was trembling on the ground, traumatized by the power of "Obelisk the Tormentor".[1]
