Fairy Tale is a series of monsters and Spells based on the fairy tales collected by the Brothers Grimm. Members of this series first appeared in the OCG in Collectors Pack 2018.

They focus on generating advantage while their Field Spell, "Golden Castle of Stromberg", is on the field, offsetting the Field Spell's large maintenance cost. While not an archetype, the monsters in this series are pseudo-supported by "Golden Castle of Stromberg" being able to Special Summon from the Deck any monster that specifically lists it in its card text, which all members of the series do.

In the second series anime, this series was used by Leon von Schroeder. Growing up alone without his brother to play with, Leon grew up loving two things, Duel Monsters and fairy tales. He then wrote a letter to Maximillion Pegasus, asking him to make a series of cards based on the stories he loved to read. Pegasus granted his wish and made for him the Fairy Tale series, which became his main Deck. He then used this Deck to participate in the Kaiba Corp Grand Championship.

Design[edit]

All cards in the series are based on fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm's collection, Children's and Household Tales (more commonly known as Grimms' Fairy Tales).

Playing style[edit]

The series focuses heavily on "Golden Castle of Stromberg" to activate its effects. While it has the powerful effects of destroying any attacking monster and Special Summoning any monster member of the series from the Deck, its maintenance card banishes 10 cards from the Deck face-down and is not optional, which can be crippling. Other cards in the series focus on gaining quick advantage when the Field Spell is on the field, to minimise the effects of the cost.
