Forbidden & Limited Lists, also known as Limit Regulation (リミットレギュレーション Rimitto regyurēshon) in Japanese and in certain video games, are list of cards maintained in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG/OCG/Rush Duel card game and video games that defines which cards have received limitation statuses (e.g. Forbidden, Limited, or Semi-Limited). Cards with limitation statuses on Forbidden & Limited Lists have their numbers of usable copies in Deck construction[a] restricted from the default of 3.
Different formats/video games use different Forbidden & Limited Lists. The OCG, TCG Advanced Format, TCG Speed Duel, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel all have different Forbidden & Limited lists. Occasionally, certain regions may create separate Forbidden & Limited Lists, such as Korean or Simplified Chinese creating separate lists from the regular OCG list. Certain events, such as the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championships, may create their own special Forbidden & Limited Lists only applicable for that event.
For active formats, the Forbidden & Limited List is periodically updated to accommodate new card releases and changes in the metagame; cards can added, removed, or adjusted on the lists.
