  • This monster may be based on the Goblin Shark, due to the shape of its head and the initial use of its jaw to attack.
  • This card is the "Chaos Number" counterpart of "Number 32: Shark Drake".
    • This monster has a more humanoid, dragon-like body than its previous form.
  • "Veiss" may be a pun on the words "vice" and "weiss", due to their identical Japanese spellings and similar pronunciations.
    • "Weiss" (Weiß) is German for "white," possibly referring to this monster's coloring.
      • Great White Sharks are also arguably the world's most well known speicies of shark, possibly inspiring this card's white color scheme. However, "Shark Drake Veiss" has more white than that of a Great White, as they only have white coloration on their lower jaws and underbelly.
    • "Vice" may refer to how a shark's teeth clamp down hard when it bites, like a vicegrip.
    • "Vice" (バイス Baisu) is also part of the Japanese name of Shark's first Number, "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon" (Japanese name is "No. 17 Levice Dragon"). Its attack name in the anime was also known as "Vice Stream."
    • "Vice" may also refer to sinful behavior, evidenced by this card being portrayed as "evil" in the anime, while its counterpart, "Number C39: Utopia Ray", is portrayed as "good."
  • This is the second "Chaos Number" monster. The first is "Number C39: Utopia Ray".
    • Incidentally, they are both Cover Cards.
    • Following up on their evolutions, they both have an extra name added - "Ray" and "Veiss" respectively.
    • Also, if Summoned normally, both require 1 more Xyz Material than their original versions and require monsters of the same Attribute as themselves.
    • Both also need a specific maximum of Life Points for their effects to activate.
    • While "Number 39: Utopia" is originally light-colored and its Chaos Number counterpart is dark-colored, this monster's color scheme is the opposite, going from a dark-colored Number to a light-colored Chaos Number.
  • This is the first Xyz Monster outside the ZEXAL manga that can be Xyz Summoned with more than 3 Xyz Materials.
