RE:Raging Flame Sprite edit

I changed the lore accordingly to the image stored here for the Battle Pack:Epic Dawn, which in turn came from a site which always watermarks its images. I often wish we had more sources for scans other than said site... Sadly, I stopped collecting cards long ago, although I have considered resuming it for the sake of the Wikis (both this and the Spanish one, in which I'm currently an admin), as it is also a source to identify official names and update any errata.

Off topic, I also noticed there are/were (I tried my best last Summer) lots of "wrong" lores for old cards, namely with "Spanglish" due to not adding the "|wordusedinspanish" after each link. Is there a way to solve it other than trial and error? For example, I know there are lots which use the term "oponente" instead of "adversario" (which is the word used in the Spanish TCG for "opponent"), but then again, I think it's also used in some other language (can't recall if it's Portuguese or Italian), so it's almost impossible to find them out.--AzureKesil (talk • contribs) 03:12, March 3, 2014 (UTC)

In this case, thinking of a "key word" and searching for it (for example, misspellings of "monster" or any words Google Translate happen to use a lot). When it's an odd word, you may get few results, but when one tries words like the example given above, you get +746574674867563 results. I can only pick one at random and hope it doesn't belong to a Portuguese or Italian translation! Posting Yugioh Zexal Previews

Mate, I just noticed that you sent me an message on February 17th, telling me not to post episode clips (Full episode). I don't really understand what you mean by that. I have been posting episode previews (not the episode itself) and Yugioh booster pack commercials. That should be fine, right? (I don't have memory of posting full episodes. ONLY PREVIEWS AND BOOSTER PACK COMMERCIALS). If I have done so, than I apologize. BUT I do not have any memories of posting full episodes on this wikia. I post videos from youtube. Changing Current Wikia Info from Japanese version anime names to English version anime names

Mate, it has been bothering me for quite a while. Is it alright for wikia users to edit information on this wikia to be from their Japanese version anime name to English version anime name? Because for me, it is such an annoyance. Main example: Legendary numbers page.

I don't know how to check a page's history, and in any event, it does not matter because "Rai Rider" is a part of the Rider archetype because it's a picture of a motorcyclist monster with ライダー in the Japanese name. New flag

Leaving aside our policy of using a single flag, your argument has a flaw; Taiwan (or it's full name, Republic of China) is not an independent nation, rather an autonomous region governed by the People's Republic of China. It's hotly debated of whether Taiwan is independent or not, even though Taiwan has its own presidency, which by definition, Taiwan is not an autonomous region governed by PRC, but let's not talk about that here of all places (I am Taiwanese, so I know what I'm talking about). To stay on topic, those cards are not released in the mainland itself. To leave it as it is is misleading which goes against the integrity of the wiki, not to mention the wiki is in simplified Chinese, which is not the writing that the cards in question are released in, traditional Chinese. The problem is that it's inconsistent, from what I can tell, there exists both Hong Kong flags and China flags. It's China's flag on the individual card pages, but Hong Kong's flag on the actual sets themselves. What's worse is that almost all of them are written in simplified Chinese characters, which is what China uses but not what Hong Kong/Taiwan. And no, the policy of one flag per language shouldn't be used here, because they're two different writing systems, even on the keyboard I have to manually switch between them if I want to type in trad./sim. mix (for w/e reason). The reason why I'm asking for Taiwan's flag is because Taiwan is the licensed publisher for the traditional Chinese cards, although I know they are released in Hong Kong and I think Singapore, Malaysia, and/or Macau get them too. The inconsistency would be because the various bits of Chinese support were added at different times: the support in {{CardTable2}} has been present for years, while the support in {{Infobox set}} (and, by extension, set gallery and list pages) is only a few months old.

As for Traditional versus Simplified Chinese, this is a more complex problem. The fact that the Chinese Wikipedia features a variant selection via tabs at the top of every page got my hopes up that there might be a completely automatic solution, but a reading of metawikimedia:Automatic conversion between simplified and traditional Chinese suggests that there are a handful of characters for which in-text hinting is still needed, and at any rate I'm leery of using a Javascript solution for it (as would be required here) for a variety of reasons. This also wouldn't solve the problem of which variant would be used for the "underlying" text that is actually stored and displayed when editing a page. So for cards, at least, I think a separate set of name and lore parameters for each variant we want to feature will be needed, meaning naturally that we'll need to decide which variants we want to bother with: Traditional and Simplified Chinese, both, certainly, but what about the more minor regional variants? The fact that Konami used "TC" for the region tag in the set numbers (as opposed to something more general like "CH") also suggests they may have plans to introduce Simplified Chinese cards at some point in the future (and even if not, it shows that they're being forward-thinking and at least allowing for the possibility). 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 04:42, April 7, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, UltimateKuriboh, been a long time since I been here, hope I'm doing this right by posting, probolay wrong, I need to go back and read the help page, lol, lost other page I had, so started a new one. Regarding the "Quinton" page I left my laptop open for a moment while getting back to editing, left room for a moment and my little cousin got on and was trying to edit his picture (because she liked the picture of him that was posted from Zexal 11, Episode 124 more), and of course didn't know how, I caught her doing something, but didn't know what she had done. So I apologize that it had to be edited and corrected once again. She sometimes watches Zexal with us and her favorite character is like Chris Arclight/V, and she to begin with doesn't understand why people refer to him as "Quinton" in the first place,(I tried to explain the whole English Dub topic with her, but she doesn't get it because we watch the original Japanese version, she thinks everyone should just watch that one, lol, kids). But I do agree that the other ones did not show a clear picture of his face like that one does. Personally the shot from Zexal Episode 41 I belive when he turns to 111 in the last few minutes is one of his best scenes and shows his face well. But when I read off the message alert from earlier that his page had been changed, she admitted to me what she had done. I know that everyone here can contribute, that is the motto here after all, but I am just the kind of person that likes to clarify these important matters and offer apology where my mistakes have been made. Regarding the Block

Wanted to inform you that i didn't ignore the messages you sent me. Its just that i didn't get any notification regarding them so i didn't know you sent messages to me.

As for the tag, well i did see the 'DUEA-JA' tag in the cards, but i had doubts regarding whether to use them or not, so i left it as 'DUEA-JP' instead (which is what we have been using until now). Need a Bit of Help

I was redirecting some DUEA pages when I thought Re Bible needed to be renamed. However, I changed it back due to the fact that the Org translation wasn't printed on a TCG card yet. I ended up with a redirect problem, see Card Trivia:Re Bible, Card Trivia:Resurrectome and Card Tips:Re Bible, Card Tips:Resurrectome (I had to make sure the tips and trivia pages went where they were supposed to go). I'd appreciate some help in cleaning those up.

Flash Fusion and Super Polymerization

Why exactly did you find my addition unnecessary? Some would consider it quite important to mention, not only to inform people of similar and potentially better alternatives, but also to shed some light on an interesting little comparative list of differences between the cards. Your view of it's significance far from reflects the truth, nor does it alter the truth.

Your removal of my addition, seems to be the only unnecessary change made to Flash Fusion's trivia.

Trivia is fascinating information containing interesting observations regarding a topic. I, along with those I have talked to, finds it very interesting that this card has been released, despite the fact that Super Polymerization already does the same job, and even goes above and beyond. Usually this is the other way around, as an old card is replaced by a newer one.

Such information is indeed trivia worthy, as it happens relatively rarely, and is generally just an interesting observation. Just because YOU don't find it intersting, doesn't mean others feel the same way. Your lack of an objectional view, for a wikia editor, is quite frankly worrying.

On the topic of the Hope Dragun OTK information that you removed (and that I initially created), I think you're wrong, and that's not just because I've managed to pull this off multiple times on DevPro, since I know those programs can get a lot of stuff wrong. I could understand your point if you actually had to activate the RUM to summon Hope, but simultaneous is a really weird thing in Yu-Gi-Oh. When I try and visualize what you're saying, I still see Argent activating since it goes to the Graveyard at the same time as the summon. Also, Argent's effect isn't mandatory, it's activated, so it wouldn't happen until after the summon resolved, anyways.

I can sort of understand where you're coming from with that example, but Librarian is a single card, and his effect states that he has to be on the field for his effect to work, which he technically isn't during his own summon. No, but that might be because I'm used to seeing it discarded first. In fact I'm pretty sure anyone who owns a physical copy of the card (which includes me) would normally discard it before the summon and could get confused over this just because they see it in the grave when Hope is summoned. I think that might just be my problem is that, even though you say simultaneous, I'm not going to discard a RUM and place Hope on top of Utopia in the same motion, one is always going to happen before the other.

A question which many for-fun players may care about.

So, I've been wondering. Due to any fan-style play-rules being absolutely not allowed to be mentioned on pages they would relate to, what if there are actually groups who are coming up with standardizable fun-styles, and want those available to people on the wiki? Like with Magic the Gathering has a Commander (like the never-implemented Deck Master), Two-Headed Giant (bassically the same idea as the official Tag Duel), Archenemy (1VSGroup, essentially like the official Boss Duel), and other styles. If some people wanted to do this, like other game wikis do (Smash Bros Wiki's Project M pages, for example), I think there should be a design for this. I have no doubt that there are people who have been coming up with new fun ideas, but are just crushed instantly by people that refuse anything that isn't "Official" "cannon" "doesn't follow the Ban List" or some such. Since you are the one I seem to come across the most here, I thought I'd ask you first. (I'm not asking on the forums, since I think this is more an Admin-level matter) Please at least consider this before just dismissing it, and thank you for reading. Gagaga Samurai help

Hey Kuriboh sorry to ask you for this but I don't really know who or how to pubically ask on this site for such an obscure request.

The card Gagaga Samurai http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Gagaga_Samurai Has his effect shown in full but his actual cards image is shown only once in the entire series in a very brief and obscure scene that I can't seem to find.

The wikia's "Appearance" tab shows that the card was only shown in episode 145 of ZEXAL I watched the entire episode and couldn't find this image which is the one im desperately looking for: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/File:GagagaSamurai-JP-Anime-ZX.png Me and my friends are positive we can smooth out the image to be readable and show its picture if given the actual scene in motion. Just having the picture that's currently up we can't work with.

This article <https://yugiohblog.konami.com/articles/?p=6194> states "The best part about Avalon is that if your Noble Knight is equipped with Noble Arms of Destiny or Gwenhwyfar, Queen of Noble Arms, it won’t be destroyed by Avalon! Plus, most of the Noble Arms that are equipped to it will come back as if nothing happened!" This basically is saying that Gwenhwyfar, Queen of Noble Arms will save Noble Knight that she is equipped too from a 'field nuke' through her LIGHT-related effect. How would one go about putting this into the rulings then? (One would think that you couldn't do this, but given Konami has said you can...)

(Dimensional Fissure)

I don't want to seem obnoxious, but the dimensional fissure card is a legitimate addition. I know that if activated before Trice Megistus is summoned it prevents his summoning, but the card is next to necessary after summoning. And as for the monsters not being able to be revived, I perceive it to be the point of a Helios deck. Not only you power up your monsters, but keep your opponent by summoning his. As for the Duos or Trice being unable to be revived as well, let's not forget "return from the different dimension" and several other cards that allow a banished monster's reinstation.

Question about this effect: When you take damage from a card effect: You can destroy this card, and if you do, any effect that would inflict damage increases Life Points by the same amount instead for the rest of this turn.

I talked to Cheesedude about this, and me advised me to talk to you. The Cookmates need to be renamed, but lately renaming is taking a week or so and a bit of effort, so I guess now's the time. :P It seems "Eggman" was already fixed to "Eggong", but I'm not able to rename "Jagajaga". "Jagaimo" = "Potato", "Jagā" = "Jaguar", I'd go with "Potatopard", unless anyone comes up with a better idea. Aah, I see. You're going to need to grab the .navbox styles from MediaWiki:Wikimedia.css (everything from the "Default style for navigation boxes" comment to the "Infobox template style" comment) and the Collapsible tables script from MediaWiki:Common.js for that to work; the CSS should go in your MediaWiki:Common.css file and the JS in your MediaWiki:Common.js file. "Surpise Victory"

Hello, Ultimate Kuriboh. I was, recently, looking to some Gaming Terms, when i ahd an idea of adding this new term "Surprise Victory". As the own name implies, it is when you gain the duel without your opponent expecting for so (for example, the opponent activates 1 "Backs to the Wall then i activate 1 "Chain Detonation"), i know this may be senseless, but won't hurt to try. Archetype templates

Hi,

Something that's been bothering me quite a bit on the wiki lately is the state of the archetype templates at the bottom of archetype cards. These used to be a fantastic resource for me but lately have been inconsistent, randomly missing out 90% of an archetype's cards, or just two or three for no particular reason. I complained on the Pojo forums about the state of the Gem-Knight one weeks back and it seems to have been fixed, but I just noticed the template on the Ghostrick Mansion page similarly missing out a huge amount of Ghostrick cards (all of the monsters), when that isn't the case for the other Ghostrick card pages (even the other S/T support) and many other pages have similar problems (another quick example: Swag Frog).

Is there a reason for this? Is it just a case of vandalism or is it a choice made by the wiki admins? If the former, is there a way to standardise the templates so that they are the same on every page they're attached to and prevent future vandalism?

I hope I don't sound like a moaner but the archetype/series templates are a fantastic resource on the forum, allowing quick and easy browsing of an entire archetype's cards. It's something I've used countless times in the past and it's not reliable anymore due to these situations, so I'm wondering what the policy on this is!

Yu-Gi-Oh! WCT 2004 stuff

Ohai, I was wondering about something. The image policy here says that images should be at their original resolution. So I was going to replace the images here with better, .png images (the ones there are like twice the normal GBA-game size, and slightly blurry from being .jpgs). But I was wondering, could I remove the backgrounds from the images [I wanted to upload]? Since like, everything from GBA games is simple sprite-based art without transparency pixels, backgrounds can be removed very easily with no worry of accidentally cropping parts of the intended-to-be-kept image (the characters in the case). Yu-Gi-Oh! WCT 2004 stuff ~ again

Well I was going to like, upload the character sprites, without backgrounds, for the Portal you linked, but I underestimated the black-ness of the characters. Like, it's impossible to distinguish the bordered headshot boxes appearing behind the character sprite from the sprite itself in some spots for most characters. I tried a new emulator that can separate layers, but it puts the sprite on a black background. So it just worsens the problem. So then I found an emulator that could separate layers and put the desired layer on a background that you could choose the color of. But it didn't work, so I downloaded it from a different trusty source, but it didn't work either. So now I ended up uploading the screenshots with backgrounds after all. But, the ones I'm currently uploading are at the proper aspect ratio, so they're still technically better, going by the image policy; just not as gooder as I wanted them to be. This is regarding the message you left for me following my edit to the Bixi trivia. Apologies, of course, wanted to make that clear. I honestly hadn't realised it was written Synchro Monster on the cards, I was sure that monster is always written without being capitalised, and thought that the page was entitled Synchro Monsters because it was a title. Deck is not capitalised on cards, and I've checked this multiple times myself. As for the lack of quotation marks in some cases around cards, that is simply an honest mistake: I guess I was rushing.

OCG defined

Whoever uses duelistgroundz, uses Dueling Network and both are almost identical filled with lazy admins or spawnville of noobs hackers, glitchers etc. You are like children that you need to be admins just to have a little taste of power, instead maybe you should reason with people coming here and there doing that and this. Ok so for example I do edit there and there, you see it, READ through it, UNDERSTAND it and if you don't contact me before undoing all my hard work. Ask if you don't understand, and I'll explain. You may know a lot about TCG and almost nothing about OCG. I too the same know and play a lot more in OCG than TCG and know more about OCG than TCG.

So here

a) OCG is faster format than TCG (hence banlists, cards and stuff coming out there first) b) OCG is couple months ahead of TCG which, c) makes them a faster and more dominant than TCG which is why, d) they have Tiers 0, 1, 1.5 & 2 which parallels with TCG Tiers 1-4.

Tiers explained:

0 (most broken deck(s)) 1 (all the new meta and fast decks mostly used in tournaments) 1.5 (all the other meta, mostly from previous banlist that can still be as competitive as Tier 1 only not as much) 2 (everything else)

Deflect if you must, but for someone who knows about the OCG, you're remarkably ill-informed. Tiers as such we have in the TCG have never existed in the OCG, due to the lack of a competitive circuit the likes of which the TCG has. Small competitive pool = players don't care about Tier

All tiers boil down to is a numbering system with criteria. There is no such thing as an official Tier system for either the OCG or the TCG. What system that others players use is really quite irrelevant. If you want, think of it this way: We are not interested in what you, Shriek, or other players define as Tiers. We define Tiers by our own criteria, and that criteria equally applies to both OCG and TCG (even if the OCG doesn't have much of a competitive playing circuit, the fact that it's got a YOT outside Japan helps). Database dumps

During the summer the ygo-sim sovereigns had a summit and created integration software with the yugioh wikia for DN and the YGOPros. The wikia has not been backed up/dumped in over 6 months. This needs to be dumped every two weeks. To allow development of multiple languages and correct massive DB errors. from Zayelion [1]

Since Yu-Gi-Oh BAM is set to close on September 30, 2014, I need help to update the missing information (missing storyline rewards, missing objectives, missing Arena cards like Trishula, and some cards that would be unreleased due to sudden closing of the game). Thanks for the tip. It felt rather odd to get all that "gibberish" after uploading card images. I'd like to comment one thing, now that we're on it. While I *do* know that the wiki policy favours .png files over .jpg ones, I uploaded several files on .jpg format due to how it seemed less problematic (concerning the aforementioned "gibberish" issue, which I assume will get solved with what you told me in your message) after uploading a .png and not seeing any changes, which struck me as odd, since it didn't happen the last time I uploaded some Dragons of Legend cards. I assumed it'd be because they were uploaded on a card gallery which already requires your files to be uploaded on .png. But I disgress...

Also, here's a question. I am currently attempting to retrieve as many Spanish card images as possible (*), which could mean getting some for a current red linked gallery. I am fully aware this is going to be a newbie question and I am rather ashamed of even asking it, but, in case I wanted to create one, what are the steps to take in other to do it?

(*) Long story short: when I became acquainted with the YGO! Wiki staff, I asked about the absurd amount of cards without a Spanish translation, and they explained that it was a way to make people get involved on the wiki: by uploading images, they'd also add/fix the lores. To the point that some of the staff uploaded images on this wiki but never did it on the Spanish one. As time went by, I realised that said policy didn't work, and after getting sick of the ever-growing amount of "to be confirmed" card names because of the lack of card images, I asked some of the users to help me. So now we're scavenging images from elsewhere in hopes to revert the situation. Since the Spanish wiki also has a "last print is the image we use" policy of sorts, I decided to upload the old editions on the Spanish wiki before changing the image for a new print one. Yes, I know, all it takes is a revert to get all images, but at least here it gets a gallery. I should ask the rest of my peers to include a "previous prints" section of each card's gallery...

Card artworks

Regarding this. It's not the first time I see artworks pages be changed like this, but I don't agree. I mean, it's obvious that they will make a new artwork for manga cards, they can't take the manga artwork and just color it. I believe it's much more interesting to note which changes were made compared to the original artwork instead, just like how it's done with cards with different artworks for OCG and TCG version. Many manga cards keep their artwork when released, only redrawn (Court of Justice, for example), and we don't create "artworks" pages for them exactly because the artwork was redrawn but not changed. dmgcardshop and solosagrado. Dmgcardshop has non-watermarked cards for old cards, but has watermark on the new cards. Solosagrado has non-watermarkerd cards, but the image is always set at 200 x 292. Re:Spanish Unlimited Edition only?

There was a time in which Spanish boosters and decks would take ages to be released... if they ever were, at least judging by personal experience, since those were the days in which I bought boosters and the odd Deck. Interestingly, those early prints in Spanish had quite the fair share of typos and unconsistent lore terms (to the point I recently found a Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon and, if it wasn't because I'm pretty sure it's not a counterfeit, I'd say it's a counterfeit). The situation was even worse when the UDE-Konami feud burst, so, as it appears to be, Tactical Evoltion was released as Unlimited because someone supposed that it had already been released before the problem. Something similar happened to Invasion of Chaos and Spell Ruler. The latter does seem to have been only released as Unlimited, judging by the cards I've been uploading. It is likely that it happened because of the Spell/Magic cards issue: they just released the ones with the new term. Cards that lists series/archetype/etc. at the bottom of appropriate pages are missing a lot of cards. Yet the cards themselves do list the appropriate relation in their respective pages, even though they're not showing in the template itself. Is there a glitch in the system? Will it be fixed? Thanks.
