In episode 146, Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against Gurimo. After Gurimo activates "Card of Sanctity" to make both players draw until they had six cards in their hand, Yami Yugi Special Summons this card via its own effect. Gurimo then summons "Warrior Dai Grepher", but Yami Yugi activates "Dark Renewal" to Tribute this card and "Warrior Dai Grepher" in order to Special Summon "Dark Magician" from the Graveyard.

In episode 175, Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against Rafael. After Yami Yugi activates "Card of Sanctity" to make both players draw until they had six cards in their hand, he Special Summons this card via its own effect. Yami then Tributes this card to summon "Dark Magician Girl".

In episode 197, Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against Leon von Schroeder. After Yami Yugi activates "Pot of Greed" to draw two cards, he Special Summons this card via its own effect. Yugi then Tributes this card to summon "Dark Magician Girl".

In episode 200, this card appears within Yami Yugi's mind when Yami Bakura claims to him that his mind is an unsolvable maze and that he pursues games like riddles.

In episode 223, Yugi Muto uses this card during his Duel against Yami Yugi. After Yugi activates "Pot of Greed" to draw two cards, he Special Summons this card through its own effect. Yugi then Tributes this card to summon "Curse of Dragon".

In episode 18, this card can be seen when Dimitri is shown looking through Yugi's Deck.

In episode 19, Dimitri uses this card during his duel against Jaden Yuki while the former was using Yugi's Deck. After Dimitri activates "Card of Sanctity" to make both players draw until they had six cards in their hand, Dimitri Special Summons this card from his hand via its own effect. Dimitri then Tributes this card to summon "Dark Magician Girl". Later, Dimitri banishes this card and "Kuriboh" from the Graveyard in order to Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning".

Yugi uses this card in his Duel against Jaden Yuki in the final episode of the series. Yugi draws this card via "Card of Sanctity" and because of that he summons this card to the field via its own effect. Yugi then Tributes this card to summon "Dark Magician Girl".

In episode 19, this card appeared as a Duel Spirit in Luna's past.
In episode 48, Watapon was shown in a flashback of Schwank before the Minus Curse.

During his Duel against Seto Kaiba, Yami Yugi uses "Pot of Greed" to draw this card. This activates its effect, allowing Yami Yugi to Special Summon this card. Yami Yugi then summons "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian". After Anubis interrupts the Duel and knocks Kaiba out, he takes over in Kaiba's place. On Anubis' next turn, he uses "Sphinx Teleia" to attack and destroy "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian" due to the former's effect allowing it to negate the effects of monsters that it attacks. "Andro Sphinx" then attacks and destroys this card. This activates "Andro Sphinx"'s effect, inflicting damage to Yami Yugi equal to half of this card's ATK.

In the non-canon duel World Championship 2013 Special: Mai vs. Yugi, Yugi summons this card by its own effect after Yugi activates "Pot of Greed". The same turn, "Watapon" is Tributed with "Dark Magician" for the Ritual Summon of "Magician of Black Chaos".
