- Despite its name, this card is not based off Tyrannosaurus Rex. Instead, it appears to be Spinosaurus Aegypticus.
- Despite the fact that this card has been used quite a few times in the anime, its full effect is currently unknown due to the fact that, in each case, the card's full effect text has either been too small to read or obscured by the user's thumb. The only known confirmed text is 'If your opponent controls no monsters...'. It is a common misconception that this card cannot be Summoned whilst your opponent controls no monsters, as it was Summoned on the first turn of the Duel between Tyranno Hassleberry and Sartorius by the former whilst the latter's field was understandably empty. It is speculated that the card cannot attack whilst your opponent controls no monsters, but this has yet to be noted in the anime, and a situation whereby the opposing player had no monsters on the field yet Giant Rex was inexplicably unable to attack has yet to occur.
