Card Rulings:Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
Contents
OCG Rulings
- If you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" instead of having "Clear Vice Dragon" be destroyed, then "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" was discarded by the effect of "Clear Vice Dragon", so "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" may be Special Summoned.[2]
- If "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is discarded by an opponent's card effect and its effect targets a monster(s), then "My Body as a Shield" can be Chained. If neither of the targeted cards are monsters, then "My Body as a Shield" cannot be Chained.[3]
- When "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is discarded by an opponent's card effect, its effect Special Summons it and then proceeds to destroy cards, so "Bottomless Trap Hole" cannot be activated. Also, if there are no cards on the opponent's field to destroy, then the effect finishes resolving with "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" being Summoned, so "Bottomless Trap Hole" can be activated.[4]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World: If "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is declared for "Prohibition" and cannot be played, then you can still return it to the hand for the Summoning procedure of "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World".[5]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[6] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - The second part of this card's effect targets 2 cards on the opponent's side of the field. If the opponent chains a card to remove 1 of the 2 targets, the other targeted card is still destroyed.
- "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" must be Special Summoned to resolve the second part of his effect. If you cannot Summon him because you activated "Scapegoat" that turn, or your Monster Card Zones are full, then the second part of his effect does not resolve.
- If the Special Summon of "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is negated with "Royal Oppression", the second part of his effect does not resolve.
- If "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is discarded by your opponent's card effect, when his effect resolves, he is Special Summoned first, and then the second part of his effect resolves. So the opponent cannot activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" or "Torrential Tribute"; the timing is no longer correct. Also, you could not draw a card for the effect of "Card of Safe Return".
- If monsters are targeted by "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World", the opponent can chain "My Body as a Shield".
- If at least 1 Trap Card is targeted by "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World", then the opponent can chain "Fake Trap" and the targeted Trap Card(s) will not be destroyed.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Cloak and Dagger: If multiple copies of the declared monster are Summoned by effects on different Links of the same Chain, only the first one Summoned (the one Summoned at the highest Chain Link) will be removed from play. For example, if 2 copies of "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" are discarded at the same time, only 1 is removed from play.
- Doomcaliber Knight: When multiple Effect Monster effects activate simultaneously, "Doomcaliber Knight's" effect is chained after determining the order of the Effect Monster effects (see the Advanced Rulings FAQ "Simultaneous Effects") and will negate the Effect Monster's effect that was placed last on the Chain.
- Example 2: Player A and Player B have "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" in their hand and Player A controls "Doomcaliber Knight". Player A activates "Card Destruction". When both copies of "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" are discarded, their effects start a Chain. Player A is the turn player, so his "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is Chain Link 1 and Player B's is Chain Link 2. "Doomcaliber Knight's" effect is chained, and it will negate Player B's "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World".
- Infernal Incinerator: Discarding your hand is a cost to Normal Summon or Set this card. It will not activate the effect of a card like "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World".

These Ruling(s) have not been confirmed as applicable to the TCG.[Notes 1] |
- Discarding 1 card is part of "Drill Warrior"'s effect, it is not a cost. So, if "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" is discarded, "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" is being discarded by an effect. It is also a mandatory effect, so it will not miss the timing. The effect of "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" will start a new Chain, and once it resolves, the owner will draw a card.[16]
OCG Rulings
- If you discard multiple "Dark World" monsters simultaneously, such as discarding "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" and "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" with "Graceful Charity", you can choose the order in which the effects activate.[17]
- When discarded by a cost, the effect of "Dark World" monsters like "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" and "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" do not activate.[18]
- "Fabled Raven" will activate the effect of "Dark World" monsters, like "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World".[19]
- The effect of a monster like "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" only activates when it is "discarded to the Graveyard" from the hand by a card effect. The effects of "Hand Destruction" and "Veil of Darkness" "send to the Graveyard" the cards - this is not the same as "discard to the Graveyard". Thus, if a monster like "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" is sent to the Graveyard by these effects, then you cannot activate its effect.[20]
- If a player discards one card to negate the effect of "Jurrac Gallim", then it is treated as the player discarding by the effect of an opponent's card.[21]
- Example: If you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" to negate the effect of the opponent's "Jurrac Gallim", then "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is treated as being "discarded by the effect of an opponent's card", so you can select and destroy two cards on the opponent's side of the field.[21]
- If you discard from your hand because of the effect of a "General Raiho of the Ice Barrier" your opponent controls, then it is treated as you discarding from your hand by the effect of an opponent's card.[22]
- Example: If you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" for the effect of the opponent's "General Raiho of the Ice Barrier", then "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is treated as being "discarded by the effect of an opponent's card", so you can select and destroy up to two cards on the opponent's side of the field.[22]
- If "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" is not in the Graveyard when its effect is resolving - for example, "D.D. Crow" was Chained - then you can still draw a card(s) from your Deck. Also, if a monster like "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is discarded by a card effect, then if "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is not in the Graveyard when resolving its effect, then it cannot be Special Summoned.[23]
- If the opponent activates "Dragged Down into the Grave" and has you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World", then you can apply the "you can select up to 2 cards your opponent controls and destroy them" effect of "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World".[24]
- If "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" is discarded during the Damage Step, such as when "Spirit Reaper" or "Brron, Mad King of Dark World" inflict Battle Damage, then you can activate its effect and Special Summon it to the field.[25]
- If multiple "Dark World" monsters are discarded simultaneously, for example, by "Card Destruction" or "Beckoning Light", then the original owner of those "Dark World" monsters can activate their effects in a Chain, in any order that he wants.[26]
- If "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" (etc.) is discarded by a card effect, then you can activate "Royal Oppression" in Chain to the effect which Special Summons "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" in order to negate the effect.[27]
- Suppose that you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" and "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" simultaneously, and have their effects activate with "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" as Chain Links 1 and "Broww, Huntsman of Dark World" as Chain Link 2. Here, you cannot activate "Royal Oppression" as Chain Link 3.[27]
- Suppose that you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" and "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" simultaneously, and have their effects activate as Chain Links 1 and 2. If "Royal Oppression" is activated as Chain Link 3, then it will only negate the effect on Chain Link 2. It cannot negate the effect on Chain Link 1. Furthermore, you cannot interrupt the Chain by activating "Royal Oppression" in between Chain Link 1 and 2.[28]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[29] They were previously considered official, but may or may not necessarily hold true nowadays. |
- The following rulings apply to “Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World”, “Broww, Huntsman of Dark World”, “Sillva, Warlord of Dark World” and “Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World”.[30]
- The effects of these cards are Trigger Effects that can be chained to.[30]
- These effects only activate if the cards are discarded by a card effect. They will not activate if discarded for the cost of a card like “Lightning Vortex”, “Raigeki Break”, “Tribe-Infecting Virus”, or “Infernal Incinerator”. They will not activate if sent to the graveyard by a card effect like “Last Turn” or “Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End”.[30]
- If these cards are discarded by your opponent’s card effect, both parts of their effects resolve in a single chain link. If “Divine Wrath” is chained to these effects, it will negate both parts.[30]
- The effects of these cards activate in the Graveyard, so “Skill Drain” will not negate their effects.[30]
- These effects can activate in the Damage Step, if discarded by the effect of a card like “Don Zaloog”.[30]
- If these monsters are discarded by a card effect in the middle of a chain, or in the middle of a card effect like “Dragged Down into the Grave”, their effects will activate after the current chain resolves. They cannot miss the timing.[30]
- If these cards are discarded from your hand by a card effect while "Macro Cosmos" is on the field, their effects will not activate because they were not discarded to the Graveyard.[30]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Dark World Lightning: Discarding 1 card is part of the effect of “Dark World Lightning”, it is not a cost. (So you can use it to activate the effects of “Dark World” monsters, for example.)
- Full Salvo: If you send a “Dark World” monster to the Graveyard for the effect of “Full Salvo”, its effects do not activate because it was not “discarded”.
- Gateway to Dark World: This card targets 1 “Dark World” monster in your Graveyard.
- The Forces of Darkness: “The Forces of Darkness” targets 2 “Dark World” monsters in the Graveyard. If “Disappear” is chained to remove from play 1 of the targeted monsters, the other 1 is still returned to your hand.
