  • At the End Phase of a turn it is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up, a Spirit Monster will return to it's owner's hand. However, if "Dimensionhole" is played on a Spirit Monster, it will be removed from play and return to play during the next Standby Phase. Since the Spirit Monster was not Normal Summoned or flipped face-up during that turn, it will not return to the hand during the End Phase. Using "Dimensionhole" on "Yamata Dragon" is an easy way to keep it on the field.
  • A tricky move to do is to tribute set this monster. If your opponent attacks it with a weaker monster, it is still considered to have done battle damage, and you draw.
    • If this card is attacked with an opponent's monster that has more than 2600 ATK but less than or equal to 3100 DEF, you can use "Book of Moon" to flip your "Yamata Dragon" into face-down defense position. And, if you inflict battle damage you'll be able to refill your hand.
  • You can use "Book of Moon" on this card to keep it on the field until your next turn.
  • Use this card with "Creature Swap". During the End Phase, this card will return to your hand, while you get to keep your opponent's monster.
  • Before attacking you want to set as many spell and trap cards as possible. You can also use "The Cheerful Coffin" to empty your hand of monsters.
