• This card is based off the modern representation of a Mesopotamian god, Tiamat, which was popularized in the 1970's thanks to the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game. Both Dungeons and Dragons and Yu-Gi-Oh! represent Tiamat as being a multi-headed dragon, but no ancient texts exist where there is a clear association with a dragon.

• The mechanized head represents the WIND attribute, the center tan one represents the EARTH attribute, the black one represents the DARK attribute, while the FIRE and WATER heads represent their own attributes, respectively. There is no LIGHT attribute head, referencing its effect of only being able to be destroyed by LIGHT or DIVINE monsters.

• This card, "Dragon Master Knight", "Malefic Truth Dragon", "Rocket Arrow Express", and "Super Dimensional Robo Galaxy Destroyer" currently have the highest original (printed) ATK and DEF in the OCG/TCG.

• "Five-Headed Dragon" is tied for the strongest DARK monster in the game with "Malefic Truth Dragon".

• "Five-Headed Dragon" is also tied for the strongest Fusion monster in the game, alongside "Dragon Master Knight".

• "Five-Headed Dragon" appears in the artwork of "Paradox Fusion".

• During the Virtual World arc of Yu-Gi-Oh!, this monster is a Ritual Monster, Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card "Dragon Revival Ritual".

• Two monsters that appear to be the heads of the this card are: Megarock Dragon (Earth), and Darkfire Dragon (Fire). However, summoning Five-Headed Dragon this way is impossible because Megarock Dragon is actually Rock-type.
