- Sleeves featuring the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses card backing were sold during the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's era, with "1996 KAZUKI TAKAHASHI" written close to the bottom.
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, a different card backing to the TCG and OCG backings is used. However, the TCG/OCG backing is seen in these series on a few occasions.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode On Your Mark, Get Set, DUEL!", this backing appears when a king card is shown to introduce 1: "Jack Atlas.
- In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode Espa Roba - The ESP Duelist, Part 1", this backing appears when 58: "Espa Roba thought that Joey could not activate two copies of "Graceful Dice" in the same turn.
- This backing also occasionally appears in card artworks, such as the artwork of "Lightforce Sword".
- Starting with Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, the card backings begin to more closely resemble the OCG/TCG backing. In the English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, the simplified backing was used from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL episode The Sparrow, Part 2" to 8: "Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL episode Frozen in Time".
